I have had this thing for about 3 months now and the thing has never worked correctly. It always loses connection and i have to unplug and replug it back into the computer. I finally decided to take it apart to see if there was a bad connection somewhere. When I pulled the sleeve off I found that both the warranty seal over the screw and the seal holding the case together had been broken already!!!

This is an excellent, solidly built product that enables you to back up your data for very little money.I can't think of one, single reason NOT to recommend this product.Buy it!!

Just popping into say a big +1 for this drive. Another satisfied customer.Great price, great size, great feel, great speed. Works great with mac and linux so far. I have carved it into 3 partitions for different uses and its working great! Can not comment on longevity of course, but feels like a great purchase so far.

I'm not the most tech inclined person in the world. I'm trading in/recycling my Macbook, and I wanted to get everything off before shipping it away. Did some research, and an external hard drive seemed like the best bet. I went ahead and got the largest model (500GB as of Sept. 2010) because of the size/cost ratio, and I don't regret the decision at all. Very easy to use, you just plug and drag. Nothing to be set up, it's like a giant USB thumb drive. Transcend has included a double headed USB port, which I ended up using, to get enough power from the laptop to actually run the hard drive. How considerate! Great product; don't be intimidated. Very friendly little device. The only con I have is the weight--slightly heavier than anticipated, but I'm also planning to carry it around in my purse when I'm out on business. (I'm being a wimp here, it's not that heavy!)

I found this to be a great item, I bought it for work and ended up getting one for home too. It's easy to use and very durable. Great price too.

I LOVE these! I now have 6 of them. I like the rubberized outer shell for protection from bumps. I have a 160GB, (1)red 250GB, (2)320GB, 500GB and 640GB.I have found them to be reliable and not too big, to go in my pocket.

I bought this for my mac to run Parallels Desktop 6. Works beautifully! I keep all my VM's on the external drive and it completely frees up the space on my Mac Air.Nice Capacity for the size. *****Easy to hookup and use, The cable is sturdy when pluggin in and doesn't 'glitch' out when moving the drive around. *****Quiet and cool. Don't hear it and don't feel it. *****Looks nice, I don't feel like too much of a nerd carrying it around ;) *****Would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this drive because of the good reviews I saw, the presumed durability that it has, and the compatibility with both mac and pc, since I use it to transfer data between the two. I also have a 320gb WD my passport, and that's held up quite well over the past few years that I've had it. This drive definitely seems sturdier, though, and it doesn't get hot at all. I've been very pleased so far.

No complaints yet! Hooked it up, wasn't too interested in the supplied software, but I started loading data on it right away. I reformatted it NTFS for my personal likings. No noise, and doesn't get hot. I feel pretty confident in this product!

I have had the product for approximately a month now, and so far I love it. I did not get the chance to test the auto backup software that comes with it, I had no desire for it, thus deleted it. Apparently it is easily down-loadable from their website if I want it back. Either way I can not comment on that. But as far as the drive goes, it seems to be really fast, I love the size of it. I also love the feel of it (less likely to drop it). I could literally carry it around in my pocket as it is about the size of my phone. And I love the USB power.

I'd recommend this product of you are looking for an inexpensive, fairly shock resistant device to move large files around. Worked well on both our PCs and Macs with no reformatting.

Had problem with the initial driver for Usb3.0. However,after I instaaled seagate's udb3.0 driver and test out the drive. This hard disk works great they need to either update or improve their driver.

Been looking for a usb 3.0 external drive and this transcend fits the bill. The build quality is excellent with little to no vibration coming from the drive. Hardly audible transferring gigabytes of data. Nice fit and finish and stands out above the rest with the green accents. A bit pricier than the competition but well worth the upgrade in shock/drop protection.

$100 or so + real toughness + easy connection + fast downloading + decent space (500GB) + very small = terrific back-up drive! = get it!!Small issue, however. The cord connection could be shorter (ok, for some this is a good thing), as you don't need it that far from your computer. Also the 'male' connector has a tendency to pull out too quickly if you move the drive and lose connection. Not a big thing, just don't move the drive.
