I bought this product for a 2,400 ranch 1 story house since our previous router was not enough range to get a good signal from one end of the house to the other. I was hoping to go from a "poor" signal to a "good" signal. Well, I went from a poor signal to a fair signal (moved only 1 bar). So... yes it did improve but not like I was hoping for so I would not consider this to be long range. Speed is very good and the installation was a breeze.

The router works flawlessly. I just followed the instructions on the enclosed CD and it came right up and has been working ever since. I forget that it's there. Thank you, Tom Jenkins[...]

InstallationA mini CD is included in the packaging. This won't work if you have a slot-loading drive like the current macs, bummer! Since the complete manual is not included, you can find it on the TP-link website if you need. I'm not sure if there is a software for installation for Mac OS. If you have basic knowledge about router the easiest way set it up is to use the web browser-based utility (which is not difficult to use).TestI decided to upgrade from my old WRT54G2 V1, because we kept dropping connections on our macbooks and xboxs and the wireless speed was much slower compared to wired. I've had this router for quite awhile now and have had no issues. Speed's good, performance and signal is good. I threw dd-wrt on it because I wasn't a fan of the TP-Link firmware, and all has been well. Definitely good performance for the money I paid.UPDATE: A comment on this review has informed me that version 8 of this router is incompatible with dd-wrt, according to their website. I have version 7, but be aware that this could be an issue.

I've had this thing since August, and in the last week it has started to flake out and constantly lose speed and connectivity. I wouldn't buy again.

I wasted two hours trying to set up the router. When I was finally able to reach a human being at their customer service line, I spent another hour with tech support before they concluded the unit was defective and I should return it.

Bought this locally while I waited for my dlink 615 to arrive. I read the reviews and thought this would be a GREAT product, I was wrong, not only does it hang up and needs to be reset at least 4 times a day, it randomly reduced the speed of the internet and tends to lock up! but then again you get what you paid for. I can't access simple sites like google.com without it taking 5 minutes to load up, skype is ridiculously slow and downloading is possible ! I just connect manually via an ethernet cable to my DSL modem and it takes 5 minutes or less however through the damn wifi with this box it takes at least 3 hours! My old box which was the 615 was amazing! it never did any of this crap and was only ruined due to some water spillage but this product is GARBAGE. It is not worth a buy, not only is it slow, unreliable and absolutely useless it runs extremely hot! Don't even get me started on how bad it is for online streaming video calls and online videogaming. Dont was't your money and for $10 dollars more just go buy the dlink 615 its a great product that has never failed!

I purchased this router to replace a D-Link early N router that was intermittent. I did not use the install wizard but went directly to the web interface. It was straight forward but should be used only by someone with some experience setting up wi-fi routers. So far it has worked as expected. I selected this router for several reasons: Great price over similar N-300 routers, detachable antennas which allow the use of directional gain antennas (the trend seems to be internal antennas which are fine for most applications), and parental controls which I have not configured yet. It works fine with my many Apple devices (iPad, iPod, iPhone and MacBook). The only criticism I have so far is the lack of a table top stand for vertical orientation. One nice feature is the larger than normal antennas that appear to offer some gain although they are not labeled. I would recommend this router for home use for typical streaming and web applications and to support a home network. It can support the full bandwidth of 20Mbps from my cable provider. I have several wireless printers that work fine as well as Amazon Kindle Readers, a Fire, and Android phones. I have not used it in a gaming environment.

I am of the older generation. I have trouble changing the clock in me car. I have troble programming my new cell phone. And the worst thing of all for me is anything that involves installing Norton Antivirus on my computer. But I had this thing up and running in 10 minutes flat. If I can do it, anyone can. I can't comment on it's endurance but if I have a problem later I'll update this review but for now it looks dam good. Plus you can't go wrong if you get it from Amazon. - How old am I you ask?? Let me just say that I remember when you could buy a new Ford for $800. - If you were lucky enough to have $800.

I bought this router some time ago - now just to say, I haven't had any real success connecting to an N router or WAP EVER! I work in the tech industry and am starting to believe N frequency is a myth. Anyway, this router is junk, as soon as I connected it - it picked up internet and seemed to work fine. I was relieved...at first. Then I started running speed tests... OMG! This thing crippled my internet! Now I'm back to my good ol' g54 linksys - still on the search for good wireless n router.Even in this day and age - you get what you pay for - remember that!

I was worried when I first read the instruction because I couldn't really do what it said since I only have a laptop, so I contacted the company via e-mail and I've got the instruction right away. Victoria was very patient with me and went though with me a few times until I finally got a connection. The response was very quick and she gave me detailed instructions every time. The product itself is a great buy, too. I have no bad experience with connection nor it is anymore slower than the cable connection. I'm impressed with the customer service and the product for this price. Plus I love how it looks. I hooked it on the wall in between my desk and the wall and even I don't always see it, it's looking slim and neat instead of just hanging out with the cables. Thank you Victoria, for your wonderful service!

I have to say I've never set up an electronic quicker in my life. It comes with a step by step set up CD that walked me through the process in under 10 minutes. It's worked great for the past two days, arrived sealed and in brand new condition. Very happy with this purchase.

It works most of the time. I've had a few instances where I had to reboot. I don't know if it is my old dell or the router, but I have intermittent issues with it staying connected unless I set it to broadcast on a B signal. I'm sure there are better options at a similar price point.

as a mac user, it was not so straight forward to set up this wireless router by myself since the cd in the package is only for windows users.but the helpline was great, very knowledgeable and helpful. all was set and good to go in 30 mins.

Tried to set it up but did not work. Keeps missing "Network Staus check" stage, although the internet works perfectly and everything is fine. :/... It happened as well with the last wireless router made by this company as well... I guess I should have learned my lesson then. I'm going to try my luck with a different company next time.

I need a stronger router since I need signal downstairs through a few walls and the old d-link router just isn't powerful enough. This router is easy to set up- I do need to insert the CD to my laptop, but the questions and options are straight forward and clear. Once set up, the signal is pretty strong and reliable. I'm using it one floor down and between about 3-5 10inch walls and about 30ft away, while I can still stream video and play online games. Great for the value! This is my second TP-link product (I've used one for 3 years before I need to change to N wireless), and it's very reliable for me.

So far I have had this router for about three weeks and have reset or unplugged it about 4+ times a day. I had high hopes for this router because of the reviews. After many attempts to figure what was wrong I finally sent it back for a refund. The setup was easy once I took out my four year old laptop having no luck with a 2011 MacBook air and a 2011 MacBook pro. I do not recommend this router for anything but a headache

My local Micro Center has had some of TP Link's products for awhile now. Documentation is sparse, firmware updates don't exist but the device worked well (and it was $15). However, I could not pass this deal up at $20 for a DD-WRT compatible router. Installed DD-WRT without a problem, wireless propagation is good and I couldn't be happier. If you are on the fence for this device all I can say is do it, but make sure you install DD-WRT (download file, flash via firmware update link on routers configuration page).DO IT, DO IT YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

I bought this item together with the Motorola SB6120 modem, in hopes that it would solve my lag problems when playing FPS games on the PS3. Well, it seemed to have work the first day I had it set up, and every now and then it's fine, but there is still a noticeable amount of horrible lag most times, especially when the game makes me the host. Buying these two items has made COD:MW3 tolerable...better than it used to be, as it was nearly unplayable with the Comcast-issued modem and router.Other than that, it seems fine. Had some trouble hooking it up and getting everything to work right, but magically it started working after screwing around with my network and unplugging and plugging things back in.No REAL issues. Maybe it's working fine and I just have a bad connection, or maybe I have a faulty PS3, or something else. I can't really find anything bad about this item, I just feel a little let-down that my expectations really haven't fully been met. Otherwise I'd say this product could potentially get 4 or 5 stars. The price was good, and Amazon never disappoints with their speedy shipping. Opted for the 5-8 day free super saver shipping and received it in 2 days.
