Bought this camera for my husband who's an electrician. He wanted it to take pictures on job sites when the sheet rockers bury his wires. He finds it useful so he keeps it in his truck. Sorry I can't elaborate on it's specific qualities, but we've owned Sony Cyber-shots in the past and have no complaints. They're great reliable little point and shoot cameras.

I chose this for the mp rating and I have been completely satisfied. The pictures are great quality. It's also user friendly for the most part because I'm no techie. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I am happy with my pictures of scenery as I just returned from vacation and they all came out fairly well. However, all the photos I take of my grandchildren seem to be fuzzy looking . I've tried Intelligent Auto and Superior Auto and I'm still not satisfied with the results. I even stopped using the flash. Any suggestions for best settings? (also used soft skin effect as I don't know which other option would be best for portraits)

What I like the most about this camera is the low light capability, it's possible to take acceptable pictures with the WX50 in low light conditions. However, little particles of dust can be seen through the lens making it neccesary to blow air into the camera to remove them to avoid pictures with little dots in them.
Battery life is something to keep in mind with this camera: Altough many cameras can work a whole day with a single charge, this camera can't. It is mandatory to buy an extra battery to enjoy all the great features in this product. Manufacturer is aware of this characteristic since they include in the box:"Remember a spare battery", which usually doesn't appear in the promotion logos.
The excesive consumption of batteries can be caused by the increase in temperature during filming.
Anyway, I like pictures taken with the DSC_WX50camera, good quality and useful features such as the 3D sweep panorama which usually would require several shots.
Size: This camera is a bit small for regular sized hands but ths can be fixed by ussing the wrist strap supplied.
Overall this is a good product that I would recommend to purchase, with an aditional battery, of course.

I bought this camera for my daughter, so please understand that when reading this very brief review. She has owned several cameras over the last several years: a Lumix and a Canon. She greatly prefers this little Sony to those cameras. In the first week she took over 400 pictures with it. She is a terrific photographer and works in the punk community. She has told me that the quality of the images has been consistently terrific and she has loved several of the camera's special effects options.

It's a great compact point and shoot camera. It takes amazing pictures and is packed with features. Only complaint is it doesn't have a touch screen.

Works just like the reviews said it would. Has a built-in guide, takes good pictures, simple to understand. Wish it had a viewfinder, but cameras in this price range do not have them. Other than that, it is fine.

I was looking for a point and shoot camera that doesn't compromise picture quality. Took this to Italy with me and was able to capture all the intricate details and myriad of colors at the Vatican, Basilicas, and Pantheon like I have never experienced with other cameras. I was so happy with this product especially considering the affordable price. Definitely a GREAT BUY!

Whenever there is any pressure on the top of the camera near the power button it turns on or off. You don't even have to actually touch the button. It's always tuning on in my bag and then the battery is dead when I want to use it. :-(
The playback button is also another big problem. Any touch and it turns on. I mitigated the effect of these buttons some by sticking on a self adhesive piece of rubber with a hole in the middle that requires direct effort to penetrate and actuate the button. This helps a lot. They really should recess those buttons.
Size is nice, which is why I bought it. I need one to always carry with me but take no noticeable space.
Takes a decent close up to about 1" away which was another feature I needed, but many low end cameras can do that now.
Many other bell and whistle features, but I don't get into those too much.

I have had a digital camera before and was not happy with the quality of pictures, or the size. This one is the opposite! I love this camera! It is small and compact and takes delightful, clear, crisp pictures. I especially like the fact that there is not a sizable delay once focused and then taking the picture. So often pictures would be blurred with my other camera. This one is just great and would recommend to the novice photographer!

I did a lot of research to find a digital camera with a macro setting and high pixels—this is the one! It's slim and lightweight. The picture quality is terrific. The price is awesome. I had a Coolpix but this camera is so much nicer for the less money. I would definitely recommend this camera if you're in the market.

Camera arrived few weeks ago but has not been tested enough to rate fairly. The order came quick and I like how it is easy to follow and figure out. Need to use more to really give true rating. Happy so far.

I bought this camera to replace my 7 year old, 6 megapixel cyber-shot. My old camera was a tank. It took great pictures for being so outdated and withstood many beatings from my toddler. The only reason I wanted to replace the camera was the lens cover would no longer open entirely on its own. I needed to push it open with my fingers and would often forget to do so, ruining my picture.
I wanted to love this camera just as much, but I'm a little under-whelmed by the WX50. The special features are really cool, but honestly I'm not sure I will use them very often.
Here is what I don't like about the camera:
1.)It is made of plastic and feels like a feather in my hand. I realize this is how cameras are made now days, but I'm afraid it will break if dropped. I will do everything in my power to keep it away from my child.
2.) I feel the colors are a tad off.
3.) Most of the pictures come out blurry. This could very well be operator error or simply the fact that 99% of the pictures I'm taking are of a busy 18 month old that doesn't believe in sitting still for longer than 2 seconds. If you're reading this and know a solution to this problem, please share!!
4.) On several occasions the camera would not turn on. I pushed the power button and nothing happened. I had to take the battery out for a few seconds and then the camera would turn on.
Overall, the camera is okay and I would recommend it. It takes the pictures faster than my old cyber-shot. The images that come out clear are very sharp. Just be careful not to zoom in too far. Like I said earlier, I love the special effects. My dream is to own a DSLR, but its not in the budget right now. Maybe this dream is making my expectations too high for a point and shoot.

love it so small but incredible powerful, takes awesome clear pics. I use a neck strap and a small case better then all the expensive heavy gear I also have and now never use.

I initially purchased a Nikon Coolpix S9050 but returned it for this Sony cybershot. Takes awesome pictures in "auto" mode, which is what most people will use anyway. It has many different scenic options as well. Has the capability of taking 3D pictures (haven't tried that yet). It shoots 1080 HD video which is a great option to have. Shoots great in low light conditions compared to the Nikon. It is very compact compared to the Nikon. All the menus are easy to get to and very straightfoward. Another awesome feature I like is it can detect Eye-Fi cards. It has an icon on the screen when the card is transmitting.
All in all.....awesome buy and can probably be compared to more expensive point and shooters. Wanted something I can point and shoot quickly without having to mess with settings. This is a sidekick to my Canon DSLR.

Nice Camera, still learning all the options, there are lots. There was an issue with delivery, they had no black in stock and emailed me to let me know there would be a delay unless I wanted another color. Once mailed there was issue b/c no weekend service so, took some time to get the camera but, well worth the wait.

It may very well be my photography ability, but this camera takes pictures that are nothing more than ordinary. It fits the bill for a need for a camera, but if you are looking for something to take GREAT shots with, this is not the camera.

I love Sony product and they used to be a great company making great products. With this camera (and a few I looked at on display at Best Buy) I am saddened that the lens mechanism is not made better.
PROS:
Pretty much everything on this camera is great. Awesome low light, zoom, LCD size, battery life, picture quality, video quality, etc.
CONS:
Maybe it is me, but when I am shooting video and zooming at the same time I see the LCD screen moving left, right, up and down. I know that it is suppose to move in and out but when the video gets to your computer and you are trying to edit and the picture keeps going left and right it is a bit frustrating. I cannot be the only one that has experienced this or maybe I am the only one that cares because I use this camera for video.
I have contacted Sony about this problem and had the lens replaced twice and the third time I sent the camera in they told me there was nothing wrong with it.

Photographs are nice, good quality color and is easy to use. In my first trip using this camera and handling it VERY carefully the LCD panel started to go bad, lost its brightness and now is going white, a horizontal line across the display started getting more visible. VERY annoying, its like pointing in a very foggy day!! Returned it.

When I received the camera, the seal on the box had already been broken. I took a couple photos and noticed that they were numbered beginning from "DSC00055". A brand new camera would begin at "DSC00001". The camera seems to be working fine, but I would have much rather gotten what I was advertised.

Functions fine however does not come with the micro USB cord required to hook the camera up to your computer so make sure you purchase that separately (unless you plan on just popping out the memory card and inputting it directly into your computer.)
