This camera has focus problems, and it has issues reading the memory card more often than it should. My friend has the same camera and she's also had the problem where it will not read your memory card & claims you have no pictures (giving you a heart attack if you've been on vacation for weeks) until you plug it in your computer and realize your pics are all there. I was surprised how bad the focus was on a lot of pics when I came back from vacation and viewed the pics on my computer. The blurriness of the pics is harder to see on the small screen. Also, there are a few modes - like intelligent auto, etc...and one of them is extremely slow.

I love this camera. After 10 years, my Sony Mavica died; yeah the one that used floppy diskettes. I was forced to purchase a new camera.
I did some research online, and settled on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX50 16.2 MP, Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 2.7-inch LCD (Black) (2012 Model). I thought about buying the latest and greatest, but why pay for something I may not use?
Of course, coming from the monster size of the Mavica, I was a bit shocked at the tiny package of this camera, but the LCD screen at almost 3 inches was a sure-fire plus.
This camera has everything I loved about my old Sony Mavica, and because the menu system was familiar, I was up and running in a few minutes. I did have to read about the upload to my computer procedures. However, my machine already had the software (I have a Sony laptop), as this camera defaulted the upload using the Sony Picture software.
The YouTube review was spot-on. This camera takes beautiful video 30 minutes unattended. I am happy to say, it also takes gorgeous still shots (which are still my specialty.) It was well packed, and came on time. Focus Camera (the third party vendor on Amazon) communicated with me even after the sale.

Nice camera, takes good photos but it takes time to focus properly for better photos. I just want a camera that is easy to use.

I know, smart phone cameras are the thing now; but I don't use a smart phone! The date and panorama features on this camera ROCK! Great photos and durable camera!

Well-just opened and set the camera up. I have at least 8 cameras and this is really amazing. I guess the slr's are better, but this is pretty close for a small compact. I mean small! You could lose this in a suit pocket! Anyway I shot it in many functions -it is allot like the Sony NEX 3 I have, menu wise. Pretty intuitive. It also shoots great macro shots-also very close to my 60d Canon with a 1.8 50mm on it-also amazing. The new technology Sony is developing is so far out there just in 1 year. Low light it's
good set at 800iso. Did some pixel peeking and the shots were very good-you need to push the camera and explore the settings.I shoot without flash whenever possible, and the colors are quite true. This will be with me quite a bit-probably in my carry bag all the time. Put a light wrist cord on it as it's that small to hold. Less than 100.00 and it beats cameras up to 500.00. I checked them out by doing the wx50vsother cameras in google. There are not many that beat it for sharpness and overall performance. It is a well kept secret. Wish you could see the shots-I'll put some on flicker-Jeff Bissell-take a look. Was bought on Amazon-they are good at any returns within 30 days.

I have a DSLR camera that it works very well for me, but I needed a small good camera to carry with me, mainly to take pictures in indoors. I chose this camera because it has good comments and also is Sony brand.
After I took my first picture I realized it camera wasn't what I expected. First, the screen doesn't have good colors and it shows pictures brighter than they really are.
Also, the flash is too bright, I mean, in pictures, light colors tend to be a little burned. It is an issue for me because my intend is use this camera in indoor, so, most of the time the flash is need it. To compensate it, I need to use my edition software to balance colors.
Something that I really like is the panorama mode, I've taken very nice pictures mainly outdoors.

Finally, a new camera to replace my old point and shoot that has been defective. For more than a year, my old Sony digital camera has failed to work. But with cellphones taking nearly as good pictures, I was too slow to buy a new standalone digital camera. I knew I wanted something beyond the built-in camera in my cellphone (my phone, a Sony Xperia, takes fairly good pictures). I wanted an actual digital camera for better pictures to take during special occasions such as vacation with my girlfriend or friend's parties I attended. This unit comes with 16.2 megapixels, making the pictures taken really clear. Think of it as HD television. The camera is small and can easily fit in a pocket, although I separately purchased a bag for it. This is a good unit for a family camera and for casual use. I didn't give it a five-star rating because to my surprise, there is a delay in each picture taken. The camera takes about three seconds to process every single picture you take, something I wasn't used to. I don't think all cameras have that type of delay. But it is a minor inconvenience to me as my phone can already take rapid succession, back to back pictures.

My sweet husband bought me this camera for Xmas 5 months ago, replacing my 7 (?) yr old Canon SD1000 point and shoot. I like to take spontaneous shots of the kids and while on trips.
Good points: - it fits in my pocket (though it's no smaller than my old Canon).
- Several cool options for photo effects, like oil painting effect, Instagram look, etc.
- I haven't had the lens problem that others have had.
Bad: - AWFUL battery life. I have to take 3 batteries with me on trips, and sometimes go through all 3 in a day. This is for several 1-2 minute videos and maybe 20 photos in a day. And the batteries don't hold a charge after recharging for more than a few days max...sometimes only a few hours. My Canon lasted days to weeks with a single battery.
- I agree that the resolution leaves a lot to be desired when reviewing. Too many blurry pics.
- I think I understand how to use this pretty well, but somehow it will randomly change to special effects without going through the menu.
I wouldn't get this camera again.

was a display model w/no charger cord. Worth every penny, I love the quick shooting and small size. Recommend it as a small camera replacement for a larger SLR type digital I use for real estate work.

I bought this because I had a crappy $40 camera I bought from a drug store and wanted a nicer one for my semester abroad. It takes excellent pictures, even at night with the flash off. Sometimes it is a little confusing to use and there is a bit of learning curve. Just play with it a little and you will get the hang of it. There's a nifty feature where it takes a bunch of pictures in a row really quickly and it compiles them to give you the best image. Probably the best non-professional grade camera you will find for the price. It is really tiny and easy to fit in a purse or even a larger pocket. I advise you to put the wrist strap on it because its size makes it easy to drop. Pretty good battery life too.

This is a great camera. We have it for more than a year now and it takes great pictures. If you are looking for a compact point and shoot camera, we cannot go wrong with this one.

I bought this for my mother. She is not a technology fan, however now she is into her new camera. She takes it everywhere and has easily learned to take nice pics. The resolution is awesome, the image quality is impressive. All the features are excellent. Sony is just the best!

Love this point and shoot- small enough to fit in my pocket and my husband is willing to carry it in his when I don't have one. Great lens- Carl Zeiss. I have small children and my camera phone just isn't sharp enough for pictures with fast-moving subjects. This camera satisfies my needs.

I bought this camera solely for a recent trip to Europe, particularly for the panoramic feature as I would be visiting the Alps and other natural views. Hands down the best camera I have ever owned or used. Certainly camera enthusiasts and professionals require a broader scope for their usage, but for the average, and even artistic photographer, this little Sony will not disappoint you at all. The price was perfectly affordable and I also purchased a 16 GB flash card, which stored plenty of shots.
The camera is easy to use and light weight. Also quite aesthetically pleasing.
The Zoom was perfectly acceptable as well. The only slight negative could be the battery life. After a full day of use (I typically turned the camera off when I knew I would not be shooting for a while--the camera also does this for you by shutting down after a time of non usage), the low battery light would appear as I was reviewing the days photos. But that's it.
I would highly recommend this excellent camera!

I loved this camera. It worked better than my moms Cannon and Fugi. The pictures were clear, and the zooming was awesome. It held its charge. The different scene options worked great.

This camera was a phenomenal purchase. One of the best gadgets I've ever bought. It takes perfect pictures; has great in-camera features (isolating colors; blurring some parts of the photo; burst mode; pop color mode etc) that give you a lot of options to tinker with your photography; battery life is awesome; its very compact (I bought it so that I could leave my SLR at home since it's bulky to carry for daily photographic needs); and it looks great. It also accepts a generic SD card so you're not stuck with Sony's proprietary memory card format. I considered a LOT of other cameras before I bought this one but I'm super glad I got this one. Its priced VERY competitively, and does a great job of being a very good camera. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I've been wanting a camera that does in-camera panoramas so I decided to get this one. I've been testing it for several weeks now and I am very pleased with the pano shots I have gotten. It takes a little practice and trial and error, but even in low light it produces gorgeous shots. I'm not as happy with the quality of the zoomed shots however, they are very grainey and out of focus, which is why it didn't get 5 stars. But since I got it for the sweep panoramic, at a very good price, I'm quite happy with it so far! It's got tons of other features as well, which I can't wait to try. Another bonus is that I had an older model Sony and the battery, charger and memory cards all fit this one! Great little camera!

I brought this camera to Mexico for a trip to the Yucatan. It is SO tiny and portable. Got fantastic video clips of all the sights I wanted to see. Was particularly good for outside pictures. Inside, with low lighting, you really need to play with the settings to get shots that aren't grainy. For the price, this camera is fantastic for video and pictures (most especially ones outside in natural light). The portability if simply amazing!

The battery must be defective because after charging it twice according to directions, the camera lasted for 1-3 shots taken in succession then just turned off. No real help from original seller, Amazon won't replace, only return this type of item. Since I purchased it using "points", I assumed a nightmare to execute an exchange so had to return it to Sony for warranty repair/replacement. Very inconvenient and annoying!!
PS This camera model was recommended to me by a professional photographer. When the commotion settles, I am looking forward to a better experience.

Had higher performance expectations. Glad my Coolpix 6000 still works.
Battery life varies. Colors can be bright at times, but some stills have white-out. Video is great, but don't like file saving names. Video shots are NOT saved in sequential order with still shots. Play Memories software can be quirky at times. Will stay with Nikon Brand.

I bought the Sony Cybershot DSCWX50 16MP to replace the Nikon S01 that I returned after it broke. The Sony is not as small as the Nikon S01 (nothing is yet) but it was the lightest, smallest I could find with the best features. I absolutely love it! Having a multiple shot timer was a must for me and at first I thought this camera did not have that feature. After playing around with the settings I found it has a multi-shoot ability that also works in timer mode. That is soooo cool. So basically you can set the timer, run and get into position, and it will take a whole slew of pictures depending on how long you held the button. It also takes panoramic shots! After my Nikon camera broke and I read the bad reviews on this camera I purchased it at Target and I bought the Geek Squad warranty. I didn't even know Target had Geek Squad associates. They were great. So if anything goes wrong with it its covered. I looked at Best Buy first but their employees knew nothing about the cameras and they were totally annoying asking 20 times if they can help and then when you ask them something they have no idea. Sorry, I got a little off topic :)

I had a point and shoot Canon elf something or other, and this camera is MILES above it. It's quick, the battery life lasts forever, and for a point and shoot it has more options than I could imagine.
It takes sharp pictures, and doesn't lag a lot between shots. The flash works well (well enough for a P&S), and the autofocus is fantastic.
I could rave forever about the other features, but honestly, it's just a great little camera, that's mostly intuitive, with tons of features and takes great pictures. If you need something tiny and quick, this is a fantastic bet.

I've had this camera for only a few weeks and it is just fantastic. This is my 1st digital camera and I love it. I checked out CNET for low cost digital cameras and this one had a great review. The pictures I have taken have been great. I'm still learning the ins & outs of it...and it just keeps getting better. I ordered the bundle and it arrived in a timely way. Free shipping. I had a friend set things up for me and I'll tell you I don't know how I got along w/out it. I'm a car guy and if I see a nice older car or one for sale I just stop and snap away and have great pictures. I'm anxious to take it to the next car show I attend. The zoom is nice. Most every picture I've taken has been wonderful. The only setback was from my error. All and all a great camera for a great price.
