I am a beginner, amateur photographer and ordered this camera to shoot my first wedding. It was a low light wedding with soft backlighting and candlelight and I shot most of the images without the flash as the bride and groom wanted to capture the ambiance of the low light. It performed perfectly and when I did use the flash it did not wash out the soft lighting and the bride's dress was a brilliant white. I took over 400 pictures and only had to delete a handful of them. Amazingly fast focus. I am very pleased with my new camera.

Although this is an "entry-level" dslr it is packed with features. If you are considering your first dslr and don't want to break the bank, consider this camera!

After recently losing my previous compact Camera on holiday in USA I decided to go up a step to SLR and after some research chose the Pentax K500 DSLR. I am not an expert and use the camera for family, holiday and mostly 'water' shots from our sailing cruiser - so far I have not been disappointed. The handbook is excellent - one thing I cannot abide is voluminous instructions on a CD - and this compact book with everything cross referenced cannot be faulted. Due to the time of year full usage on the water will have to wait until next year when I anticipate good results.

I have bought this camera as a follow up to my previous Pentax, it is much more advanced than the old one but seems to be giving me excellent results, and is relativly easy to use. the battery seems to be lasting realy well , I am well pleased with the whole camera

This is a real quality camera that performs excellently. I am really pleased that there is a quality alternative to Canon and Nikon products. So glad I bought this.

Best buy and value. Love the camera. I am not a fan of using a camera that is used for taking pictures for making movie shorts.

I'm already using the filters on my camera lens. They fit the lens as ordered and work as described on-line.

I just found a new 200mm lens for my Pentax camera, had a hard time finding the filter kit for it; this was absolutely the best! (and wasn't that awfully expensive) sharp, clear photos, from close-up to zoom!

The K-5 is really something special. I tried our Nikon, Cannon, and Sony before landing on a K-5. Now granted, Nikon, Cannon and Sony all make great cameras - so I am not going to go into a fanboy war between all the brands - I'll just focus on why I chose the K-5, even though it is about 2 year old technology at the moment (May 2012)Feel - The K-5 is solid, rock solid. It feels like it could survive the Zombie Apocalypse, and we'll need someone taking photos - right? In all seriousness, this is a tight, weather sealed camera that is built like a tank. It is also much smaller than most DSLRs out there - almost compact (well for a DSLR) It just feels good in the hand and is an absolute pleasure to take photos with. Some have compared it to Leica Ms - but I won't go that far - however, this is a great DSLR for street photography - you wont' be scaring your subject away, especially if you use one of the Pentax wonderful limited primes (the 40mm looks like there is not even a lens in the camera)Image quality - this baby just takes great pictures. The 16.3 MP sensor is a Sony and it produces great results. Low light performance is very good. Frankly, I don't blow up my shots to life size, so I don't need 24 or 36 MP - more megapixels does not always equate to better photos - that is really up to the photographer. When paired up with a quality lens - the images a stunning. When paired up with an ok lens (kit lenses) - the images are pretty darn good.Lens selection - some will argue that Nikon and Cannon just offer more lenses - and that is correct. They offer A LOT of lenses, most of which, honestly, you will never use. Pentax offers a great number of lenses and have these absolutely amazing limited primes that exude quality. They are awesome and make the experience just all that much better while giving you wonderful image quality.But it's Pentax! - Pentax is a quirky company and they have been going through a lot of issues. With the recent acquisition of Pentax by Ricoh, I think the future is bright. And Pentax really focuses (no pun intended) on the photographic experience. Yeah - they may be the underdog, but I can tell you I get just as good, if not better, images with the K-5 and some of the prime lenses than my colleagues with their expensive and heavy Canikon gear.All in all - this is a great value DSLR. There are better out there - but I have yet to find one that has the feel of the K-5. Cameras are very subjective - so your opinion may vary.

I chose the product for the number of accessories included, plus the lens hood that I was originally looking for.
I do not dislike anything in the kit, I was very pleased with the close up filters and the excellent cases they came in as with the other
filters.
I would have no hesitation in recommending you to other friends.

great camera only thing I would change is having to start at beginning each time you look a pictures otherwise wonderful price of equipment

A big step up from noisy superzoom and compact cameras!

And a better bet than spending massive amounts on compact camera 'dust traps' that can suck dust into the sensor and lens when zooming. With a DSLR you can get at the sensor to clean it yourself if you need to.

This is a great camera very user friendly and location of controls makes perfect sense. very similar to the K-7 but with more functions nice improvements. takes great pictures and has plenty of functions for creativity .

After using my Kodak camera since 2005 I felt it was time to upgrade. The one thing that drove me to purchase this camera is that is is weather sealed and has an internal mirror cleaner. Being hone in NJ or in the AZ desert so far I have not had any problems with weather, cold, desert dust. I am glad I purchased this camera would recommend it to anyone who wants to take really nice pictures and not have to worry about the weather

My first DSLR camera and an excellent choice. It's superbly built, easy to use and takes good pictures. It may not be cutting edge but for amateur use it's good value for money. The camera was bought from T4 Cameras of Swindon and advertised as used. On arrival next day by an excellent courier service it turned out to be like new and unused, I couldn't believe my luck!

When I mention this camera is middle class, some people may disagree, but it's really is a middle class camera, except the price and the second screen. However, the quality of picture and the color of picture and also the water-resistant is unbeatable in it's class or even higher class competitors. Highly recommended to buy it.

Great camera, has that loud mechanical shutter Sound that I love. Feels great in hand and would definitely recommend to other photographers , weather sealing is an awesome touch.

Not the most complex of camera accessories, but certainly good to have around especially in specific shooting conditions and/or if you just wanna add a little more creative flare to your photos!

Been a Pentax user since my high school days, so I had done my homework before buying this camera to replace my K-20D Pentax.What's not to like? Great pricing, good lenses at reasonable price-point, excellent image quality, weather sealing is better than most and I can use all of my old K-mount lenses on this body.

It is what the reviews said it was. Operating manual a little hard to read. After shooting for a while it becomes easier.
