These things work great and have some many nice features. Great range and very clear talk. Great for hunting or paintball comm. i think i may get two more if the price goes down. would be nice for a the zombie take over.

I'ts O.K. but doesn't come close to working the distance as specified, 36 mile channel. It worked to about 1 - 2 miles.

i managed to find these on amazon for 49.99 a pair with free shipping..so i bought 2. it was a better 100.00 deal then black Friday or any ive seen..even the plain ones sell for 70$..i really love the animal calls when hunting and the hands free voice opp. if your in the market get em! we tested them to a few miles in the city/subs where i live.

Bought these for use with a car club.
Makes organizing car cruises much easier than juggling cell phone numbers to get everyone on the same page.
They work great, lots of features. The weather radio helps when severe storms are approaching. The batteries are long lasting when on standby. Low power mode works well enough for most uses so even active the batteries last quite some time on low power mode.

It has better quality built than most of low end Motorola brand handheld radio. The loudspeaker produces decent sounds, clear display and tough body built. How ever the misleading of 36-mile distance printed, that assuming as fake value. Even transmitting at a field which flat ground surface (line of sight distance), it cant reach 50% of the claimed miles. Good for home use or a not critical job networking within 500 meters max.. ,

I don't really like writing product reviews, but these radios deserve a good recommendation. I chose to buy them after using them in the army for different field tests (unrelated to the radios). I liked how clear they sound and the range, plus we used them for 8 hours straight and didn't run out of power. I have used these radios on trips to communicate from one car to another. Reception was excellent even at distances over a mile with hills and turns where we couldn't see each other's cars. They were also very handy for my daughter to stay by herself in a hotel room in a different floor while I stayed with my girlfriend in a different room and we needed to make sure we could quickly communicate if needed and to coordinate getting ready to go for breakfast, etc. These radios worked great. The only problem I had is that the AC charger developed a short circuit. My guess is that the wire is not very flexible and after wounding it too tight the wires touched. I emailed Midland and they called me back the same day and sent me a new AC charger at no cost since I was within warranty. Yes, the charges was covered by the warranty, and I was very pleased with their customer service. I definitely recommend these radios.

Bought these for the field time my unit has coming up and so far so good, they are great quality and come with lots of extras. These were about $30 more in the store. Heads up on the earpieces, they are cheap and not very useful.

The vibrate function is great when you are hunting in an area with no cell reception and want to reach someone in your group. Sound quality is good. No complaints.

We have, as yet, not been able to really check the range of these radios. We have, however, checked the battery life and found them to be excellent if your life really depended on them. Good channel choices also make it seem as though your in the same room when speaking. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add this to their survival plan/kit.

Unfortunately .... One failed within one month of service (would not transmit). As the hunt was over, I won't re-order until hunt next year (just to keep a goo warranty in place, just in case). I have had other midland units fail (volume control) and no parts or repair is available out of warranty, but to be fair, these other units did fail after years of service

Units work great and can pick up pretty good without a lot of obstructions. It is loud and clear through two miles of forest land with no problem. The weather alert feature is a cool plus when out in the woods with it sounding off during weather warnings.

This is the second set of these my wife and I have. We bought these for her parents who live in a condo. in Grand Forks B.C. It is two stories with a basement and the mom had breast cancer surgery so these were used for communication in the house between family members during her recovery...they work great! Our own set the wife and I use on our property which is acreage and heavily wooded and you can't beat their performance. I would suggest these to anyone who has a need for them.

The radios are great - they work for one mile on flat terrain from vehicle to vehicle and approximately 2 miles if outside the vehicle on foot. Great chargers and battery life. I like the fact they come with both AC and DC adapters.

These radios are not bad for our purposes, which is just for my son to use with his friends. They are able to communicate well with each other. However, the range is not even close to 36 miles. I would guess a 5-10 mile radius at most. It is easy to pick up other radios, but we expected that. We have not had them or used them long enough to rate durability.

I got these and the first time out we found they don't work well. Did not stay attached at all. Great reception when your sitting still just not when your moving. I do not recommend this set. Invest a little more $ and get something useful.

36 miles is quite a stretch. I can hardly even get a static sound by keying the mic and speaking to someone a mile away. Weather channel works fine tho.

Flat street, tested using 2 cars drive diff deriction on same street.
3 miles, good,
5 miles, good with noise.
6 miles, ok sound with a lot noise
7 miles, few sound with 90% noise
9 miles, hear nothing
Blocked by building,
nothing if you behind a high building even both of you just on each side of the building.

Overall pleased with the radios however, we've had them for two weeks and one battery is already dead. I'm not sure where or how to get in contact with the seller to get a replacement battery as I'd except two way radio batteries to last longer than two weeks. As of today this is my only challenge.

All manufacturers exaggerate the range of these little radios. I have used these to hear users on top of a 14,000 foot mountain from 6 miles away, but there were no obstructions between me and them. That's the best distance I've achieved. I had a lower power version of these and they worked well for several years before one of them died. I saved its battery as a spare for these and I can still use the one working with these. Most Midlands use the same rechargeable batteries, although you might carry at least four alkalines along if you expect to be away from the recharger for more than a day. If you're camping out you might want to establish a timetable to use them to extend battery life. They have excellent channel security, either with just two of them or in a group. Hearing other users of the same channel can get very annoying. The numerous privacy choices prevent that almost 100%. Like others, in a city or any enclosed space the range is very limited. The headsets can be handy of you're fishing or hunting. I've used 2-way radios for more than 40 years. The first ones I had were the size and weight of bricks. These are state-of-the-art, light, with good clips and among the best currently available.

Got these radios so we can talk while we ride atv's so far test went pretty good. tried the VOX setting and worked great but of course the radio would stay on cause it was picking up the engine noise. switch back to PTT and worked great. cant wait for warmer weather so we can really try it out. will post update when we do.

These are nice but in the Rockies mountains you don't fully get the range as intended. If your within a certain range they work well but don't drop into a canon.

As most reviewers stated; don't plan on the range stated, maybe out on the ocean with absolutely no obstruction. I didn't expect it. The sound quality is great, easy to use.
Certainly recommend them for what they are, walkie talkies. If you think you are going to replace a phone you'll be disappointed.
