I bought the Driving Force GT Wheel together with GT5 when it came out in November 2010. I'm pretty happy with it.If you keep in mind that it not a G27, you will find much to like about it. I especially liked the fact that it can be used on PC as well as Playstation.I still love to play the original "Dirt Track Racer" on pc and this wheel and pedal setup really works well for that. The ability to really articulate the throttle makes a world of difference when sliding dirt cars around.I use it on Playstation 3 for GT5, Need for Speed: SHIFT, Dirt, Dirt 2, World of Outlaw Sprint Cars, Motostorm: Pacific Rift and starting next week I will have NASCAR 2011: The Game (can't wait).PROS: Powerful force feedback motor. Sturdy pedal unit construction. Nice feeling wheel. All buttons arranged in a logical and comfortable pattern. Sufficiently long cables. Strong and easy to use base clamps. Quick action shifter. PC compatible.Cons: Carpet gripper on pedal unit doesn't really hold that well. Pedal angle should be more up and down than back and forth for people who sit in a chair rather than sit in some sort of cockpit simulator with thier legs sticking straight out in front of them.If it were up to me I'd make the following improvements: L1 an R1 buttons on the backside of the wheel would be paddle shifter type switches but with analog pressure sensitive variable signal so that you could configure them as brake and throttle controls if you don't want to use the pedals for whatever reason. The USB output cable should be detatchable with a panel jack on the base unit so if someone happens to trip over the cable, it can be easily replaced. The power supply cable would be made with a softer, more pliable wire. Ability to disable force feedback but still use all other features. Not everybody (my nephews) likes the powerful force feedback resistance. Maybe add some sort of adjustable heel stop across the top of the pedal unit to help keep your feet where they should be. I suppose adding bluetooth connectivity would be nice. This wheel can never be a fully wireless unit because it's high powered force feedback motor requires a 24 volt power supply. But at least in my particular case, the power supply runs behind me to the nearest outlet and the USB output cable runs forward across the living room floor to my Playstation 3 unit. I fear that someday it might get tripped over and my Playstation 3 could be yanked off it's shelf beside my TV, instantly killing it and possibly also ruining my TV by patch bay trauma. $1,300.00 down the drain. Bottom line is that I'm really happy with this wheel. True, it's no G27, but at one third the price, you can't expect it to be.-J. Bone Northern CaliforniaBTW: One freaky little quirk I have discovered with this wheel. It was supposedly designed with Polyphony specifically to be fully compatible with GT5, but the horn button on the wheel cannot be configured to sound the car horns in the game. In fact, it can't be configured to do anything at all. Looks cool though.Buy it, you'll be glad you did.

my review of this wheel is in conjunction with GT5 on the PS3. As many will know the logitech is the "official" wheel for GT5, so they will share the review. I have to say that I am very disappointed with the result of this combo!So anyway, here are some of the basic points of the Logitech wheel.Build quality: about what one would expect at such a low price point. (assuming that you only paid $150 for it!) The pedals are light and cheap, but have that feel to them like they still aren't going to break. Sort of like the feeling you get when you kick a Rubbermaid Garbage can. Unbreakable, but cheap. The wheel itself has a thin rim with a covering of rubbery material. The buttons for shifting are a travesty. They have a mushy feel and are imprecise. Why no paddles? Oh right, logitech calls those buttons "paddles". LOL. The connectors that run between the wheel and the pedals is also cheap. I figure it will last a year or so.Grade- C-Function: OK, here is where the rubber meets the road. This is where the wheel makes no sense. Now, for 12 year olds who have no racing experience, skip this review. If you have never tracked a car, or even autocrossed....skip the review. Only an enthusiast needs to read on:Upon booting the game, the wheel calibrates by spinning it's full 900 degrees. Of course, I can't remember ever turning a wheel that far on any track I've ever been on, but I guess you can just not use the extra spinnage. The gear-train of the wheel is a bit rough and noisy. There is a crunchy feeling as you turn against the "force feedback". Again, not a good start. The force feedback can be ridiculously strong. After a few corners, your arms start to get tired. I guess if you drive a 1970's racecar with manual steering, you will appreciate this, but even a lotus elise has lower effort. (you can adjust the feedback levels) Now, here is the real problem....when you are understeering or oversteering, there should be some "feel" in the wheel. You will have a lowering of steering forces, which indicates the loss of grip. Not in this set-up you don't!!! Right there we have a terminal flaw. You might as well be turning a spring instead of a wheel. The further you turn, the more force required. In real cars, it isn't that way. When you get into an understeering situation, you need to unwind the wheel and "find" the grip by feel. Not with this wheel!The other issue, which is probably GT5's problem is the pendulum effect. If you drive down a straightaway, and move the wheel back and forth, it literally bangs the steering wheel a dozen times or so and wanders you all over the track. Who the heck programmed this thing??Grade- D+Value: there is nothing this cheap on the market, the wheel wins by default....Grade- B+Overall: a waste of time for a racer looking for off season practice. For a 12 year old, it is great!As a side note, the discontinued microsoft wheel for the X-Box360, did correctly simulate cornering forces. I was surprised to find that it is a superior product, despite being 4 years old!

I bought this racing wheel for my son. I thought it would be perfect since it would work on both our Playstation and home computer. The quality is very nice. For someone who is not enormously knowledgeable about setting things up on the computer, I found this uttlery confusing to calibrate. I would not recommend this to anyone who is not extremely computer literate. The wheel also has so many different settings that it makes it overwhelming to set up. If you are looking for a "plug and play" steering wheel, then this one is not a good choice. If you are super tech saavy and are willing to spend a lot of time configuring the settings for the wheel then you would be fine with this wheel.

Ok!!! whew!!!! I am all excited here people. I just can't stop playing. This wheel is soooooo... awesome.I am the luckiest guy in the whole world. I got this wheel as a christmas gift yesterday (my wife rocks), and I haven't stopped playing since I opened the gift box.I am hooked, totally hooked. I played the GT 5 Prologue and NFS SHIFT and Hot Pursuit they rock. But GT 5 Prologue stands out clearly. I know I know, I don't have the new GT 5 yet, buying it soon. I am on tight budget right now.First of all, the build quality is very good maybe not the best but very good for $129. Although completely made of plastic Logitech has used the highest grade plastic and rubber in this case. The 11" wheel gives a full racing wheel feel and the rubber grips are comfy to hold and don't tax your palm. The button (all of them, trust me all of them) are ergonomicall, intuitively and strategically placed. Engineers and designers at Logitech has spend serious time designing this baby. THe higher version G25 and the new G27 are completely different in look and feel, which means this one's desinged from ground up. The glowing GT logo in the center of the wheel gives a subtle by classy touch to the whole look. THere are tonnes of tweaking you can do to enhance the performance and gaming experience. Go ahead and play with it. One important distinction I would like to make here is the clamping system. Unlike other wheels in the same price range (I doubt there are any) you don't have to duck down under the table or bench to clamp the wheel base to a table. You can lock unlock the clamp from top, the ease clamping is a big thumbs up for me. The L1 and R1 buttons placed behind the wheel is accessible to the middle finger on both hands. The buttons are firm so that you don't accidentally press it when driving in manual or semi-auto modes. These buttons work like paddle shifts that are available on higher models and other wheels. I had a cheaper wheel from Gamestop that had paddle shifter that sucked. I recomment not to buy it.What can I say about the foot pedals, it has a base where you can comfortably place both your feet. The Brake pedal is damper mounted for real feel. There a wee bit resistance when you depress it all the way to the floor, The accelerator/gas pedal is spring mounted and it makes sense too. You don't want the gas pedal to retract slowly do you. The manual transmission stick, is small reachable and well placed. It has only 2 freedom of movement up and down for gear up and down respectively and can be configured otherwise for some games.My biggest plus for this wheel is for the wheel itself. Its servo motor mounded which means the wheel can rotate by itself. This helps to give you the real vibration feel when you hit a bump, wall, or go off the track, even when you rear end and other racer.The steering resistance is quite amazing and I love the way it works, especially when I played the Ferrari challenge 2008 version (old game I know). Amazingly the wheel worked without any configurations or settings changes. THis was the first time I ever played this game with the wheel and I feel like I am playing a whole new game.Finally a piece of advice, don't buy the cheap gamestop wheel, it sucks, spend a few more bucks and get this one. you won't regret.Hope this helps.

I've had this wheel for a while now and it is without a doubt, one of the greatest accessories for driving games. I use this with a wheel stand (see my review of this accessory) and together, they make driving games like Dirt or Gran Turismo a totally immersive experience. This wheel gives you the white-knuckle thrills and action you just cannot experience with a dual shock controller. Kids and adults will love this equipment with equal glee and it will be hard to get them off of it once they're hooked.The only downside is that I wish the USB cords were a bit longer and the pedals had a little more separation, but other than that, this is an easy recommendation. In fact, I won't purchase a driving game that won't support it because it's that good.

Length:: 1:30 MinsHello,I did the purchase this Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel for a Christmas present and it was a TOTAL FAIL.- First, they promote it on Amazon as a new product, but when I received it, not come in its original box, this because they sold me one REFURBISHED. In Amazon, anywhere, warn that the product is REFURBISHED. NOT A NEW PRODUCT.- Second and more serious: NOT WORK, THE WHEEL IS DAMAGE. The car in the game will always in a straight line. Bad thing.- Third, to complete: the wheel has DEEP SCRATCHES ON ITS SURFACE, it is noted that the product has not been well treated.I will contact Amazon and Logitech to hear they have to say about it and how to solve this.Sorry for the bad English, I am a foreigner.Greetings.PD: Video review coming soon.

i got this for my nephew's birthday. it turn out it works with a very narrow list of games, not with the ps3 in general. the games it does run with, it works very poorly, with very bad response time to the controls, ranging from hair-trigger to molasses. i had a delay of a few weeks before his birthday, so i missed my return policy time, or else it would have gone right back to theim. be cautious on this one.

This wheel works very well with Gran Turismo 5 prologue. The force feedback and handling are very similar to what actual driving feels like. I recommend using the paddle shifting, as the stick is a little too close to the wheel. You definitely have to mount this guy to something, as it was not designed to sit on your lap. I picked up a little computer desk at a yard sale that works great. There are some mounts designed specifically for this wheel, and some really creative homemade mounts can be found online as well. Short of the more expensive wheels with a free standing manual gear lever you can't do much better than this wheel right here.

I had a hard time finding out if driving wheels make any real difference but decided to take a shot with this one. Wow, what a difference. Not only is the control as fine as it should be (I could never get the hang of a stick or pad for driving games) but the force feedback actually tells you when your car is losing traction on the course. I'm using it with RFactor and simply love the game but wouldn't without this wheel. It's the only one I've tried so I can't compare to others but it's great for me.Ok... I do have one small complaint. The pedals plug into the wheel with a 9 pin kind of jack like you would see on the old monitors. The male has the holes for screws but the female end does not and so neither are screws included. When the force feedback gets kickin' it can jiggle the jack out of the port and then... pretty much game over. But that rarely happens and I guess if I stayed on the track more, maybe it would never happen.Anyway, if you've never tried one or you're looking... this wheel is well made, does the job and comes at a reasonable price.

What can I say... This wheel was every thing I wanted.Any one who comes over wants to try it right away! How ever I suggest using this wheel on a Gran Turismo 5 as this game is a real driving simulator, and a great game to own. One improvement that it need was a wider gap in between the brake an gas. Do to this closeness you have to drive with two feet. I received this wheel on time :)

I bought this wheel to play Gran Turismo 5 exclusively and have not been disappointed. And for the price, it really is a steal. I have used other gaming wheels and they always feel like an addition to the game. You can tell that this wheel was designed and integrated INTO the game. The manetino is also a nice nod to the real car people out there. The steeringwheel grip is a good size, the peddle box has flip-down pegs to keep it from sliding on carpet, etc. It is a well-designed piece that makes GT5 come alive. I don't know why I didn't get one sooner.

I had already completed most of GT5 using just the standard controller, but this would have made that experience much easier. The carpet rake on the base of the brake/accelerator module provided a stable platform preventing any movement and maintaining its position. Had to purchase a TV tray to secure the steering module to as I had no other means to keep it off my lap, but even that turned out well.

This wheel is awesome, i purchased this after a defective g27 racing wheel, i decided to go cheap just in case that my next wheel didnt work, but im very pleased with this purchase.Other reviews says that this wheel doesnt work 100%, but for me, it does, the horn, wipers, every button works, even the + / - buttons, and the calibration wheel, all work! At first i was a little worried about the wheel, playing in gran turismo is great, but playing rally in gran turismo is tricky. The wheel does a lot of things but im aware that is because of the condition of the tracks, very hard to drive in real life and in this simulation. No matter this, it just takes a little to learn how to drive in rally races. In circuits its very easy, but it depends on the car and more specific in the tires of your car. Driving a Shelby Cobra with 740hp with the cheaper tires its a pain, driving with competition soft wheels is hard as well, but just because of the power of the car and the rear traction. Just keep in mind that if you want to go fast, you cant drive like crazy, its all about perfect coordination and be realistic, you cant go full throttle in powerfull cars just after braking, it makes you spin...However, with nice tuned cars its very easy, realistic and enjoyable ride. Driving in my Camaro Z28 69' makes me want to buy one in real life! The same with Ferraris and Nissans.After using this wheel, i tried to use a controller once again and see the difference... I cant beat my wheel times, i feel dumb and slow, i cant never go back to play racing games with just a controller!Five stars logitech! Great products, the g27 wheel was refurbished from some seller so i know that it wasnt your fault that it didnt worked, so with that in mind. You should buy this wheel!!!P.S. I bought this wheel and a Vizio LCD 3D Theather just for playing GT5... I will never regreat this! Gran Turismo 5 in 3D with a racing wheel is just like driving for real! Just without the sense of speed pulling of your neck, but it is pretty close!

An awesome steering wheel for Gran Turismo 5 but after a little use there seems be more slack after calibration has stopped. Fun while in use though I'd suggest a permanent place to attach it to so its not in the way later.

If you are really serious about driving games, buy this. It might not make you a better driver, but it totally changes the experience. The force feedback is incredible, every bump, rumble strip, and slide goes right into the wheel, allowing you to drive on instinct, just like a real car. The G27 (next one up) doesn't really seem to add enough value for me, I don't need 3 pedals or a gated shifter, since the paddles work fine for shifting and most games don't use the clutch anyway.

Tired to see me playing car races with three fingers, my wife decided to offer me a wheel, last Christmas. I don't remember which chinese brand it was, but at the very moment I received it, I found it was a really cool idea... I mean, until I tried to us it with my Dirt :( then with Shift,once again :( Grid (neither), Xpand (same comment). What did you say? Yes, I know: If I own all these games, why the hell amI still playing with fingers? Well, one part of laziness, two parts of misfortune: I live in South America where up-to-date stuff hardly comes...She looked so sad seeing my faces that I felt ashamed of my laziness. I started to look for something better and discovered that USA is not that far and that I'm not alone to have this type of problem: There is a way! Let's be dary! Let's try Amazon!I found this wonderfull wheel and imported it. OK, I?ll get no guarantee here, but it's worth the try.Nice toy, lifelike with Dirt 3 and with Shift.I got a problem: since my desk is quite slipping, I had to tighten the clamps to hard that I eventually broke one... For aficionados, I recommend this:- get anti slipping rubber taps for your clamps,- I personally added a velco system to fix the wheel to my desk- I replaced the broken clamp by a standard one (works fine, a little bit more work to tighten it, not more).Negative points? What about a documentation for real? And what about a configuration software to avoid loosing several hours to set it up with each game?On a scale from 0 to 10, it's a 9, not a ten for the negative points I just described... But what a cool piece of hardware!!!

yea this steering wheel for the ps3 and made for gt5 is amazing. i had always played racing games with a regular controller and decided to give this a try and it changes the overall feel of the game. now when i play gt5 i always use it as it just seems right. the wheel doesnt lag with whats on the screen and everything is plastic but it still feels very solid. ive had it for about a year now and its still working fine.

One on the best wheels for the money. Still a little pricey for a wheel. The first wheel I bought new locally for $89 broke (it would only turn left not right) 2 weeks after getting it. Sale was off and they had none in stock. Bought from Amazon and it is still working 2 months later. It feels solid but a little plasticy.

This is a very good product for the price. In terms of functionality it is really great specially if you are going to use it for GT5 for ps3. The custom buttons really made sense and made it easier to adjust settings while on the go. As far as durability is concerned so far it seems to be holding up. However its just been a month since i got it so i guess we'll see.

The wheel feels relatively solid for plastic; the pedals are not quit as solid feeling but close enough. The wheel is as noisy as others have remarked due to the plastic gears required for the FF running their course. The material used for the grip is sufficiently grippy. It's large enough not feel awkward and it feels like a real wheel until you move it. Pedal construction seems solid for something made of plastic but I have reservations. The brake pedal action is a bit more resistant than the accelerator pedal but they are both a very poor imitation of the real thing. The pedal base also feels too light not to move even with the "teeth" on the bottom. Overall the wheel is a better imitation and in the heat of the action I could see becoming immersed enough to ignore the reality. Unfortunately I can also see the pedals distracting from that feeling of immersion.The "shifter paddles" are two pieces of plastic cut out of the overall mold on three sides and bent outward at the end. They will not last. It's simple physics. Bend a material over and over, no matter how small the throw, and material fatigue will lead to catastrophic failure (read: use it long enough and it's gonna break sooner or later). There is no mechanical hinge. My $35.00 Thrustmaster wheel shifter paddles inspire more confidence. The "stick shift" isn't even worth mentioning but I will anyway, only to state that it's sequential and in a position that is nowhere near realistic. I would rather have had Logitech do away with the stick and add proper paddles. Epic Fail out of the box.Connecting the pedals to the wheel is accomplished with a multi-pin cable that has no locking screws but isn't snug enough to inspire confidence that it won't come loose; it will also resist destruction if there is an accidental hard yank; one is the lesser of two evils. You'll have to decide which one.The power supply is the ubiquitous wall wart. It is what it is. I would rather have had a slightly larger, heavier, wheel or even better, a heavier pedal unit and a three prong "OSHA" plug.One real concern is that the unit was shipped directly from Logitech with no protection other than on outer box covering the retail display box: no Styrofoam peanuts, no bubble wrap. Nothing. The outer cardboard is so snug against the retail box I had to coax it out do to the suction. I can see more than one person receiving a malfunctioning unit due to no shock protection. Just hope your unit is not mishandled anytime during shipping (good luck with that). Fail; could be Epic.First impressions are what they are and this is mine. Looking forward to a day off when I can use it with F1 2010 and GT5.

Easy setup.Works well with gran turismo 5.Motorized steering has pretty good real driving experience.By the way I am not a game expert.Expensive accessory compare to the gaming console.Wire connections could be messy.Clamping to the table could be a hassle and I guess best to have the mounting tool which is again extra money.
