I bought my PS3 specifically to play Gran Turismo 5, and I was really trying to decide over this wheel and the HKS Racing Controller, since I wanted to improve my times.Naturally I preferred the wheel, but was considering and leaning towards the HKS controller only because of the added cost of the wheel (and possible extra cost for a wheel stand/mount) which I couldn't quite justify. However, very suddenly last week a local store had this exact wheel on sale for a couple days at a price much lower than I could have ever gotten it shipped to me from Amazon, so I jumped on it.Needless to say, I am extremely happy I did. The wheel is way more fun than any hand held controller could be, and makes the game so much more realistic. You get immersed in the game and the action of racing.I should point out here, since it was something I was trying to clarify before from reading the reviews, that this wheel DOES have paddle shifters on it. They are not really visible on any of the pictures as they are not so much "Paddle" shifters but rather "Large Button" shifters, which are located behind the spokes of the wheel. They work just fine as paddle shifters, but I wouldn't mind if they were a bit larger. On my fourth try, I managed to get gold on the Nurburgring track in the Gran Turismo World Championship event after trying many times unsuccessfully with the controller, and I believe it was because of this wheel. Even if I could have gotten it with the controller, it would have been more of a chore, whereas instead with the wheel it was actually a lot of fun.Be warned however, that there is a learning curve with the wheel, made especially harder if you're already accustomed to the controller. It took me a couple days to begin to get accustomed to it's feel.Once you get accustomed to it though, watch out - it is VERY addictive and loads of fun. I found it to be quite accurate and the response is practically immediate, despite what some of the reviews here say.Even my wife, who is not really that much into video games, far less racing games at that, tried it out and found it to be a lot of fun and can see why I'm addicted to it. She even won the race she was playing on her second attempt, which I know would have been much harder for her to do with the controller. The fact that it's GT5 specific (it allows you to adjust settings on the fly with the red jog wheel), as well as PS3 and PC compatible makes it almost a no brainer. The only downside, if there is one, is that you need to have something at home (or need buy one of the many available wheelstands) in order to mount it to use it properly. But then again, I bought it knowing this, so I was prepared to face that additional expense. Turns out I didn't have to spend extra, as my bedside table worked just fine !!!Although I did not purchase this item from Amazon, I wanted to put my review of it here as Amazon's reviews are my holy grail for information on all my purchases, and their service is great. I figured other people searching for information to make a decision on this item could use it.In retrospect, looking back at my original position at the start of this review, I would definitely say the added cost of the wheel is well worth the fun and enjoyment you get from using it.If you're a GT5 and racing video game fan, there's no decision to make if you're faced with a choice of wheel or controller.Go for it.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------23 January 2012It's now 6 months since I've been using this wheel, and although it's still a a lot of fun, the main downfall of this product is the pedals. The accelerator first started giving problems about 3 weeks ago, where the the gas was still being applied slightly even if your foot is off the pedal (confirmed by the accelerator gauge next to the speedo on GT5). This was very frustrating as it lead to the car understeering and making the brakes ineffective when slowing down for a corner. Turned out the problem was the spring which returns the accelerator to its original position was "fatigued". Ended up opening the pedals and opening the spring up a bit to put more pre-load on it (simple to do - just search for "DFGT pedal mod" on youtube).Next problem a few days after was the brake pedal started feeling loose and there was a "clacking" noise as soon as it was pressed. It still worked fine, but the noise was very annoying and the loose feel made it VERY difficult to modulate and dial in partial braking in game. The fix for this was the same spring mod as the accelerator, and now both pedals feel firm and work fine. The fixes weren't hard and didn't take long to do, but it's still something to keep in mind when buying this over the G27. Given the price differential over the G27, I'm still not regretting the purchase. It's still loads of fun and with the pedal mods, it feels better than new!I'll update here if they're any othe

To put it simply, I cannot go back to joysticks for driving games.I've been playing racing games for around 10 years now, starting with GT3, using the ps controllers and always wanted a wheel. Once I had the financial means to justify a wheel purchase, I pounced on the $50 off price this week and went for the GT Force. I was considering a used G25 or a G27 but i didn't want to overspend on my first wheel so i went for a sub-$100 wheel. Therefore, my review will be useful for other first-time-wheel-buyers (for GT5) rather than the more experienced.Hardware:The wheel itself feels very sturdy made with a combination of solid plastic and rubber (on the wheels). There are buttons that allows for in-race adjustments such as ABS, traction control, etc (if vehicle is equipped with such options) and they are also of high-quality plastic. However, it is very difficult to adjust the settings on the fly unless there are long straights on the track. It comes with a +/- shifter on the right but i rarely use it since I prefer the Paddle Shifters located on the back of the wheel at the 3 & 9 o'clock position, which is attached to the wheels so they will follow the turning of the wheels. I actually prefer the paddles that follow the wheel rather than it being stationary because I hold the wheels at the 3 & 9 position so I always have the Paddles on stand-by, especially after coming out of a sharp turn. There are buttons for the horn and wipers as well. Overall, the quality is very satisfying for a sub-$100 wheel. The accelerator/brake pedals have a bit of resistance to them but not THAT much. I've seen some mods done to adjust the pedal's resistance but haven't tried them yet. Actually, I don't really mind the default resistance and I'll probably just leave them as is. There are spikes underneath to limit movement on carpet. However, the angle of the pedals aren't what I'm used to on a normal car and a subtle adjustment to the height of the pedal based may be needed.Integration with software:I have only used this is tandem with GT5 and the integration is seemless since it was originally designed for the GT series (GT4, to be specific). There are options within GT5 to customize the functions of each buttons on the GT Force if you're not satisfied with the default settings. There are also settings for the subtlety of the force feedback and power steering, if needed.Driving Experience:Again, now that I've experienced the driving wheel, I'm hooked. I bought the PS3 specifically to play GT5 but it's been collecting dust after a month of playing mostly because I felt I wasn't "connected" to the game. Now, your whole body will feel the fury of the tight turns and high-speeds as you'll struggle to keep the car in line without fighting with the force feedback. It really gives your shoulders a workout especially if you keep them tensed up throughout a race. That's something I didn't know I needed while racing with the ps controller. There's nothing wrong with using ps controllers but its just that I feel like you aren't maximizing the GT5 experience without a wheel. The ability to feel the uneven pavement, the subtle adjustments needed on dirt/snow tracks, the force feedback on turns, on-the-fly car setting changes, a working horn button (yes, it's a very important addition imo, haha). Some of us will never go out on a real track with track-ready cars but the GT Force + GT5 setup may be all you need without endangering your life. Or it also could be a first step to becoming a weekend-racer.Conclusion:So yea, I'm never going back to joystick racing again. If anything, the GT Force will be my "gateway-accessory" to more precise wheels in the future, maybe even the Thrustmaster T500 but it could also mean building a dedicated racing cockpit in the garage. Hope this review helped those who are iffy about investing on a wheel for the first time.

I'm writing this review for one purpose - to compare the G27 to the Driving Force GT. Before Christmas (2010) there were no comparisons, except professional sites that lack any personal feelings. So if you're on the fence about which one to buy, here are my feelings.I also know some people like long reviews and some just want the point, so I'll give a SUMMARY version and DETAILS version for each category. WHOLE REVIEW IN SHORTOkay, so I first bought the G27 primarily for the shifter, for a price below retail, and thought I was golden. However, what I soon discovered is that due to the user needing to hold the wheel with both hands 99% of the time, the shifter is useless. What also hurts the G27, is the design that places all your controls on the shifter unit itself (like the D-pad and Triangle, Square, Box, Circle buttons). So in short, the G27 is NOT worth the extra cost for a shifter, unless you are a die-hard simulation driver, who will use it on a weekly basis (to get your "money's worth").PEDALSSUMMARYThe G27's pedals LOOK very nice and professional, with shiny chrome and red, compared to the DFGT, which are a bland dark plastic. The G27 also seem more like a car in design and pressure, however, neither one feels very car-like (though the G27 are closer), which means cheaper price wins in the pedal category.DETAILThe G27's pedals look high quality and you would want to leave them out for people to see. The DFGT look... well, like a blend of rubber and plastic which is very boring. However, you could remedy this by adding some $10 pedal covers for a car, from AutoZone, and even pick a color of cover that matches your decor.Looks aside, the major difference is in the design of the pedals when pushed-in. The DFGT when pushed-in fall down, lying flat when fully engaged. It feels like your using go-kart pedals, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The G27's pedals when pushed-in move forward and only slightly down, lying at an angle when fully engaged. It feels much more like a car.Aside from looks or design, the pressure on both pedals also contributes to the car simulation, and both sets fail to give the right feeling. Starting with the G27, all the pedals give an equal amount of pressure pushing when pushing them down. The gas and clutch are identical, but the brake is differentiated by Logitech simply using more resistance (I'd say twice as much even). This system feels realistic for gas, but bad for a clutch, which in real life is harder to press at first and then softens as you press towards the floor. It's also bad for the brake, which is opposite of clutch in feeling in real life, as it is easy to press at first and then gets harder as you press towards the floor.Worse is that the brake on the G27 is so tight that I would tip the pedals backwards when "slamming on the brakes." But I suppose weight added to the pedals or drilling them into wood or a "Playseat" would remedy this (but how much cost and space are we adding here?). I am also aware of an aftermarket product to make the brake feel more lifelike... for additional money. The DFGT pedals' pressure is just silly. My pet bird could sit on the gas and push it down, and again Logitech simply made the brake harder to push down (though I'd say on 20% harder).Because neither products produce life-like feeling in the pedals, I vote for the less costly ones. WHEELSSUMMARYThe G27 looks beautiful and muscular, with a chrome spoke wheel and car-like grating on the air vents, where as the DFGT looks like a black wheel, though it does have an illuminated horn. The G27 is also much, much quieter, however the DFGT is much, much easier to use. I felt the G27 has too much "force feedback," and the DFGT was just right. Meaning for ease of use and comfort in hand, the DFGT wins.DETAILThe G27 really looks great, just like the pedals. However, again, all the buttons you use are on the shifter. The wheel only has 8 tiny red buttons with no labels, which cannot (currently) be assigned for anything in GT5. The DFGT has all your normal controller functions right on the wheel, so you never have to drive one handed. The G27 is very quiet, only being a loud as a vibrating cell phone when in use. The DFGT has more of a crunchy electric razor sound. Also, both wheels are tiny and not realistic, unless you drive a go-kart to work. That being said, the DFGT's go-kart pedals match the go-kart wheels. The G27 is also overkill in the force feedback department. For example, when I reached over to get a beverage I held the wheel with one hand. I didn't notice driving off course, but I felt it, as the wheel violently jerked to the right injuring my thumb joint. Now I'm a big guy who benches 300 pounds every Monday, and the fact that this device hurt my hand amazed me.Now before all you comment, yes I played with all the settings, multiple times, and could never get the wheel to soften-up enough to feel realistic. In real life a steering wheel gets ha

I've owned the Driving Force GT wheel for approximately 6 months now. My reason for purchasing this particular racing wheel was it's dual compatibility with the PS3 and PC. I purchased this wheel and Gran Turismo 5 and was excited to try it out on my PS3.After a few races, I have to admit, I was questioning my purchases. GT5 on the PS3 was not the kind of game I was looking for and did not make this wheel much fun. The graphics were not what I expected and the cars did not handle very realistically. I ended up returning GT5.I then moved the racing wheel onto the PC. I started with Need For Speed Shift 2 and WOW! The benefits of this racing wheel really came alive. I had previously been playing racing games on my PC with an Xbox 360 controller, but after using this wheel, I'm never using that Xbox controller for racing again. For PC, I have nothing but good things to say about this racing wheel. The force feedback and just feel of racing makes games much more enjoyable, especially when racing from within the cockpit of a car in a simulation game like NFS Shift 2, it is amazing.I've also tested this wheel out with other NFS titles such as The Run and Pro Street. These games are great to play with the steering wheel, but don't come close to the realistic experience you get in NFS Shift 2, as you'd likely expect.I'm using this wheel with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and have had no compatibility issues. The reason I chose this product over the G27 set was that I don't have a good place to mount the separate shifter and price. I ended up finding a great deal on a refurbished Driving Force GT, which I couldn't resist.Looking back, I would not have spent the money on a racing wheel solely for the PS3. However, since this product has dual compatibility with PS3 & PC, it's certainly worthwhile. If you're a PC gamer, play a lot of racing games and want a great wheel at a reasonable price, look no further.

BACKGROUNDI've always been skeptical about buying a wheel for racing games. 100 bones to put down for a video game accessory is a bit much, right? Then I looked at my library of racing games for my PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and I got to thinking how much more playable these games just might be with a wheel. After all, what fun is controlling a stock car or indy car on your computer with a Joystick or Keyboard anyway? And why is it that I can't seem to seamlessly go through turns and straightaways on my controller for my PS3 or Xbox 360? So I read the millions of reviews for this thing along with several other wheels out there on the market, and decided to plop the money down for this thing.WHAT I USE THE WHEEL WITHI play Grid and Formula 1 extensively on the PS3, and for PC it's the NASCAR series from EA and TOCA Racing 3. This wheel works phenomenally with these games. However, the wheel is only is as good as the game it's on. With that said some games you can't adjust the sensitivity and the force feedback like you can on other games. You can't tweek the wheel in some master hardware setting on the PS3. Everything is done in game. On the PC it's different. There is software that comes with the wheel to where you can set everything how'd you like it universally with every game. I've been treated just fine so far with the games I play for PC with this wheel.WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE WHEELWhere do I begin? This wheel is amazing. Really. I've been shaving lap times left and right on all my games. In one case I can actually just play the damn thing (Formula 1). I couldn't play the game at all with a standard controller without running into somebody or just completely spinning out. In fact, I contemplated selling it outright just because how frustrating it was to play. Now I can actually enjoy racing in that game, and be competitive against the AI for a change with this wheel. The ability to shift in two different spots is awesome. There are paddles located behind the wheel, or you can use the shifter to the side. The force feedback can get wicked crazy, and for me I've had to dumb it down on all my games just because of how powerful it is. The pedals are nice, and have a rough bottom edge so that they won't slide around on the carpet either. The wheel itself is a pretty good size; as it's just a couple inches short in circumference in comparison to my real wheel for my '08 Honda Civic. On the subject of the wheel, the grip of the wheel is solid as well. Sensitivity is nuts, and the ability to turn the wheel a couple times over is great, too. However, if you do have to turn the wheel that much, it's probably because you've spun out and you should just restart the race anyway. Overall, the wheel just feels well made despite the lot of plastic on this thing. Nothing feels like it could come apart if I were to jerk the wheel a certain way. I've had this thing for about a month now, and between myself and wife beating the heck out of this thing it still works like a champ. Oh, and my wife hates sim racing games ... until now. She loves the wheel, and I'm so happy that she can enjoy a racing game that doesn't involve Mario for once. I also love that I can use this wheel on both my PS3 and my PC without problems.MINOR STUFF I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE WHEELWhen I first tried to play the game Grid with this wheel it was unplayable. I came real close to giving up and going back to my controller. I read online to try and find fixes for this, and the results were mixed. Some said they gave up and said this wheel is not meant for Grid. Others said you have to take your time and tweak the heck out of it to get it to work. Well, I stayed patient. After a week of off and on tweaking, I managed to not only make the wheel playable, but I was beating my old times I incurred using a controller. But that's what I don't like: if I pay 100 bucks for something it should work right out of the box and it didn't. I had to mess with this thing for days before I could actually start to enjoy it. However, my persistence did pay off and now I have to play this thing at least once every other day. However, to set thing thing up is a pain. There are 3 cables: one for the pedals, one for the USB connection, and one for the power to the wheel. It takes some creativity to get the cables to go places without causing a tripping hazard for those not playing, and so that your cables aren't intervening upon your pedals, either. Plus, you have to find a table of some kind to hook the wheel up to. My wife and I don't have a coffee table, but we do have TV trays. So my wheel has to connect to a TV tray with me on the couch, and that is not a comfortable situation without some creative pillow placement. Don't even try using this thing on your lap ... just don't even think about it ... it won't work. Now using this at my Computer Desk is a different story. It sits perfectly there, and it takes up minimal room where the only thing I have to move out of the way is the

I've read every review, tons of youtube videos, and researched every wheel available for the PS3 and GT5. I have been gaming for well over 15 years and have a career in technical support so I have pretty high expectations when I spend a lot of money for a game add-on.This was my first wheel due to the value, guaranteed GT5 support, and the countless recommendations. My lap times went up (bad) by 5 seconds on average (spent one week getting used to it). This is normal, and it takes several weeks to get your times back. Once you get to that point you can regularly achieve faster times than a controller. I have to mention that when I tried the Thrustmaster F430 FFB (not the cockpit version) my lap times matched the controller on the third lap (impressive).PRO'S- value, very affordable for what you get- loaded with features like an RA tuning wheel and full button re-mapping in GT5(Set brake balance, traction control, abs, vsc on the fly, IDEAL for online shuffle races.)- excellent pedals- wheel felt nice- very strong forcefeedback (FFB)- Logitech is a trusted brand and has decent customer support- Table mount was pretty sturdy and nicely designed (I have a very thin desk)- Quality of the material was better than averageCON'S- The paddle shifters were small, had no tactile feel, I often missed shifts, and it limits you from using other grip locations on the wheel. TOTAL DEAL BREAKER FOR ME!- I have tried several wheels and I spun out a lot more with this one (takes practice)- Force Feedback at the lowest setting prevents using the shifter because it takes two hands to steer- Force Feedback can knock you off your line on straightaways, the software sort of checks to see if you're holding onto the wheel. It takes some getting used to- I'd rather have the shifter detach so that I can mount it somewhere else- ONE year warranty, competition offers much longer warrantiesSUMMARY:I feel that most people will be very happy with this wheel. Enthusiasts are more than likely going to upgrade to the G27, Fanatec GT3 (German based company with known support issues. The sales team doesn't go out of their way with promotions or even free shipping, so they won't earn my business), or Thustmaster T500 wheels within a year. You get what you pay for and the Thrustmaster T500 is the only 100% PS3 compatible wheel that will meet everyone's needs, other than being expensive.I'll be reviewing the G27 which is next on my list.

Ужасно

I'll start off by saying that I am now on my second DFGT wheel, and I'm about to return it too. I use the wheel exclusively for Gran Turismo 5, and when it works it's a lot of fun to use, and makes the game much better. However, the reason I had to return one and now the second one is because of the pedals. The first one, straight out of the box on the very first usage had an issue with the brake pedal where it would stick in the on position after releasing the pedal. I noticed right away that the car I was driving in game was much slower than normal. Then I noticed at the pedal pressure indicators that the brake was showing on at about 5-10%, which in GT5 is just enough to cause significant performance decline in your car. When at a complete stop, the brake is on enough so that the car will not move with the brake pedal stuck. I immediately returned the first wheel and had it replaced. The second wheel I received worked for about a month, with only the occasional issue (same problem, though it would flicker on and off and fix itself after the next press on the brake). Now it's doing what the first one did, sticking after releasing the pedal. After doing some investigation, this is a common problem with this steering wheel and other Logitech wheels, including the G25 and G27, because of the relatively cheap, plastic construction of the pedal and the device that detects the amount of rotation of the pedal. I haven't tried any other racing games with the wheel, perhaps it is because GT5 is very sensitive that it's even an issue, but seeing as I only play GT5 and use the wheel, it's turned out to be completely useless.I will definitely be looking into a different maker of steering wheel, and I caution anyone else who is considering this purchase to weigh all your options and/or look elsewhere.

First off I have always been a fan of racing games but had always used a controller and never understood the advantages and disadvantages of both. Using only a controller can be fun but if you want to get all you can out of the newer and very realistic racing games you need a wheel. Racing games reward users for precise turning, and the fastest car doesn't always win especially in sports and rally racing. The wheel allows you fine adjustments in turns, and the throttle pedal can be easily engaged to 1/4, 1/2. or full gas in some turns. The same can't be said for the controller which jerks the car into turns, and is difficult to maintain anything but full throttle. Once you get used to racing with the wheel you won't ever pick the controller up for a racing game again. There are a limited number of wheels to choose from, and all have varying options and prices. I chose this wheel because I mainly play Gran Turismo and this wheel was engineered cooperatively with the designers of Gran Turismo so it works perfectly with the game. What makes it superior to the Logitech G25 and G27 is the button locations. I love the layout and its design, as it is almost a wheel and a PS3 controller in one! It has every button mapped out including a PS button. In game navigation is super easy, and I haven't even turned on my PS3 controller since buying the wheel. The G27 requires you to navigate using the buttons on the separate shifter which is not very convenient while you are racing. Not to mention the G27 shifter also requires a special mount and it is difficult to find a comfortable spot for it unless you have a whole cockpit. The Driving Force's BEST FEATURE by far is the two paddle buttons that can be used to shift up and down. They are not shown in the picture but they make shifting super easy and fast. You almost never have to use the small shift lever (which only clicks up and down), and I only use it while I am turning because the paddle buttons aren't really accessible while the wheel is in motion. I know this model lacks a clutch, but from what I understand the clutch on the G27 has no real function because it's use wasn't programed into the game. It is only there for show. The road feedback system is great and makes the whole driving experience much more realistic. It reacts to the suspension of the vehicle and actually forces the wheel to move after hitting bumps, other cars, and recreates the movements of the car's weight in turns. I set the intensity to 2 out of 10 because it was a little too much at 5! It actually alerts you to traction loss, and has helped me to regain control in some situations. It give a whole new meaning to "power steering" and it does make it a little harder to drive, especially if you are used to using the controller, and will take some getting used to. Lastly the one drawback to every wheel on the market is they don't come with a stand. Logitech doesn't even make one let alone sell them together. This wheel does have 2 hooks that will tighten it to the edge of a table but that isn't very comfortable. When you get the wheel the first thing you want to do is test it out, but in order to race properly and without rearranging your whole living room you need a proper stand. There are companies that make them for this wheel (Wheel Stand Pro, and Fanatech Gaming) and they are around $140, so your not quite done with your wheel investment yet. Both companies are on serious back order because of the release of GT5 so be prepared to wait until Feb. Oh, do yourself a favor and don't buy one of those PVC stands on Ebay for $100 either because you could make one for around $15. I manged to rig mine with a Ridgid Work Support Stand you can find at home depot or here on Amazon and it works great for only $30. It also holds the pedal plate in place which can slide all over if you are using it on a hardwood floor. Happy gaming!!The Ridgid stand is sold by amazon if you are interested: Ridgid AC99331-2 Flip Top Work Support

OK I did not buy this racing wheel through Amazon, but I constantly checked Amazon for customer reviews and prices. I finally took my very first Ebay plunge and bought the Driving Force GT used "like new" and I was very fortunate because it was like new and it works great. I have debated for a year and a half about purchasing a racing wheel for Gran Turismo 5 and it was one of the best decisions every. I love this wheel, it make Gran Turismo a much better experience. If you are on the fence...buy it, I don't think you will be disappointed. I have been following InsideSimRacing.com for several years and collecting the opinions of the forums there and finally I just decided I needed a racing wheel for my PS3. I also have F-1 2001 but I have not tried it with that game yet. I have been too busy racing, Monaco, deep forest raceway, trial mountain circuit and spa to put in the F-1 game, but I will. If you love Gran Turismo, and I have bought everyone, you need this wheel. Sure I would have loved to have the Logitech G-27, but it was too expensive, but the Driving Force GT is great. Just can't believe I waited this long. Oh, and if you buy it used, I pray you have my good fortune because[ Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel]] it was like new, no worries!

The Logitech Driving Force GT is the first Gran Turismo 5 licensed wheel. This wheel's best attributes are the buttons on the wheel. The wheel has the d-pad and standard ps3 buttons well placed for use while driving. In GT5, the red ring and button inset can adjust car settings on the fly. This really puts the user at an advantage for getting the most of a car during a race. These buttons can be re-mapped on pc for similar results. The center button works as a horn on GT5, which is a pretty cool novelty (though not really useful). It also has a PS button which means you don't have to have a controller at the ready. Each button has a different feel making it easy to identify and use the buttons without looking, which is useful when turning the wheel quickly. All of the buttons are designed well for the end user on PS3 most of all, but also the PC.The paddles on the wheel leave something to be desired. The buttons are small and can be hard to get to, especially in turns. Their tactile feel is also weak in comparison to the G27 paddles. Overall they are great "paddle" shifters and it it is nice to have buttons placed on the back of the wheel for quick shifts during game play. They really make the wheel better because the shifter has some flaws. The shifter on the side wheel suffers from a few problems. For one it's a sequential shifter only, no H-pattern shifting here. Sequential shifters are great for quick shifts in races but don't provide the "real" feel that an H-pattern shifter does. The other problem is that it is placed very close to the wheel, making it some what awkward to use at all. It keeps the amount of wires going to and from the wheel to a minimum but really is difficult to use and in most situations I would consider it useless. The pedals are great as pedals, but lack any near form of resistance. If you place your foot on the pedal at all, it will move. This can cause issues with accidental braking and acceleration. The lack of feel really seems to detract from the realism aspect of owning a wheel. Luckily these pedals are easier to modify for increased resistance. Stress balls and bungee cords are quite easy to retrofit to increase the resistance. All in all, the pedals are an improvement over using a controller to drive. The only way the wheel can be mounted is by using the clamps built into the wheel. The mounts on logitech wheels are great and for the most part keep the wheel secured to the surface. Unfortunately the pedals do not have permanent mount points making it more difficult to keep secure. There is a carpet grip built in which helps greatly if you keep your pedals on a carpeted floor. I wish the pedals had a clutch but without an H-pattern shifter, its not really necessary. The force feedback is very good on this wheel. It's not as strong as the G27 but it does a great job at interpreting road feel to the driver. I would say that the wheel force feedback outshines the driving force GT's price point.Build quality is on par with all Logitech products. The fit and finish is great and the materials feel great in your hand when driving.A great feature of this wheel is its compatibility with Gran Turismo 5. This is one of the biggest issues with most wheels on the market, and the driving force shines in this case. All of the buttons can be remapped and are designed to be used specifically on the PS3. Overall, this wheel is great, especially for the $100-150 price range. You have to pay at least double to get a wheel that beats it.Pros:Force feedbackButtons on wheelFit and finishCons:Pedals lack of sensitivityLack of h-pattern shifterLack of a clutch pedal

Ужасно

I had recently purchased GT5 to subdue myself from becoming bored with battlefield 3, but i wasn't satisfied with using the six axis ps3 controller. Hence, i went to search for a steering wheel that might satisfy my needs. I've quickly learned that this nor will the g27 satisfy me. First, the mounting system is very simplistic and easy to use. Simply unscrew and the clamps lower the latches for you follow up with the tightening process. Yet, very quickly after a few turns you will notice that this system isn't very effective for an extended period of time and eventually wiggles itself loose. Now I do have an old table my family likes to play dominoes on, so it not fitting was not an issue. (Beware you need a fairly SKINNY table to effectively use the mounting system.) Next, would be the button layout. In the case of GT5, the button layout can be superb and then it can be fairly annoying. There is a functional dial that allows you to make certain changes on the go in GT5 which is a very good thing.... Yet, it can be easily ignored if you have your car set to manual and while turning you need to find/or reach the handbrake button you have assigned to a button. (maybe its just me) Anyhow, on to my next biggest gripe. Though i thought i could bypass or ignore it, I've come to realize i can't deal with the sequential shifter and is better off assigned as an handbrake. The shifter is located in an awkward position and it doesn't move up or down enough.( I feel a full in or 2 would be suitable for a sequential shifter.) The gas/brake pedals aren't weak, but they aren't strong either..which had me toe racing( meaning i used my toe to lightly press the gas and brake). Now the Force FeedBack of the wheel is okay, but there are some obvious issues. First, when going down a straight line the wheel will tend to rock back in forth in gt5. Hence, you'll need a death grip to keep it straight. Now take it from me, this is NOT a good thing nor should allow ANYONE to tell you this is okay. Look at your higher end wheels, NOT the g25/27, but the T500rs or Fanatec Forze CSR wheels and these do not rock side to side. The wheel does provide sufficient FBB though. I did not like the lack of counter spin as you approached dead center as this left you trying to over correct, which in turn can cost you a spin out. In the end, its a suitable wheel to have fun with and will breath new life into some of your racing games, but i would get more or less for an arcade style vs Sim racing. I would shell out the extra 100+ for a g27 or another 300+ if you want a good wheel

Плохо

First off, I know my way around a car, know and understand driving and racing dynamics, and am a car enthusiast above all. I understand concepts of trail-braking, lift-off oversteer, etc. etc. So I'm not your average casual driving enthusiast. Unfortunately, my level of tast in cars and racing does not meet my budget - (currently in college). So this is the best I could come up with for the money.I paid $100 with free shipping for this wheel. It seems to fluctuate like the DOW. With the new Thrustmaster wheel for GT5 costing around $600, this is a bargain. Fanatec offers their GT2RS - which is compatible with the XBOX, for $100 less. And I can tell you simply, the Fanatec looks better - and is German designed. The Logitech G27 is somewhere inbetween, going for about $300, (again, price goes all around the place).Read other reviews for complaints about wires or the packaging. I didn't really care. I ripped the box open and set it up within minutes - no problem. The wheel feels fine. The only complaint is the recessions in the back of the wheel for the screws, which I can feel. The shifter buttons behind the wheel are NOT paddles. They do require some pull, more than any road car out there- so it takes some getting used to. I currently use the sequential shifter on the right for handbrake (pulling towards you) and reverse (pushing away). The wheel itself drives fine. The belts are loud. This wheel is setup for a full 900 degrees of rotation, just like your average road car. Most race cars have much much smaller steering racks, that don't allow that many turns. It takes some getting used to, but you really have to "saw" on the wheel to get the car to dance.Pedals feel great. There is a difference between gas and brake. The adjustment dial is fantastic. I use it several times in a race, for adjusting brake bias for long straights (think Monza), traction control, stability, or adjusting power bias on AWD cars. The fact that this wheel was designed for GT5 helps quite a bit.I do wish the 900 degrees could be adjusted - so my race cars in the game could have a real race steering rack, instead of a road car's.The biggest complaint I have is the mounting. If you have some majestic mounting device to put this wheel on, good for you. Like most of us, TV trays are the closest thing. And they DO NOT work. Try drifting, just once. And the whole wheel will move the table. Even a 20-30lb coffee table can get yanked when you are doing serious driving, even with the force feedback set to (default) 5. I haven't had the balls to try level '10.'I am going to build my own setup out of PVC pipe and then make it rigid. A 24 hour race is in the works with a few pro-drivers, and we will be doing 24hrs of straight driving - so we need something rigid and in the correct position - (without shelling out the $350/400 for a PlaySeat). The reason why it gets 3 stars? It simply isn't a real car. An actual car experience gets 5 stars. I haven't found that yet. Part of it could be due to the game (Gran Turismo is still FAR from a real simulator). If realistic mounting options from the manufacturer were available this wheel would get 4 stars. But telling us to mount it to a coffee table is unrealistic. Where do the pedals go? Any real racing setup for this wheel requires an overly expensive racing seat like the PlaySeat. And if I'm going to spend $350 on a seat - I'm going to give it the best wheel I can, which in my mind would be the Fanatec. For the money ($100 shipped), this is a great buy. It gives the non-racer a great experience - and anyone with any sense of driving can apply real driving dynamics to this wheel and get the feedback and results like you would in a real car.*Can't wait to play DIRT with this wheel. Haven't yet, but will update review when I do*

I bought this wheel for use on a PC, so my review pertains mostly/only to PC users considering this wheel.First of all, I love this wheel. I have tried wheels in the past and have always been disappointed by them. As many have already pointed out, the experience you get from any wheel depends on the software you are using with it.I use this wheel for games like GRiD, Dirt 2/3, and Need for Speed Shift 1/2. Of these games, this wheel works best with Dirt 3, though I was able to make it work on Dirt 2 by editing an XML file. In all of these games, I have had to turn the difficulty up because having this wheel makes me such a better driver. There was a learning curve to overcome, but after that, I have been tearing up the road as compared to trying to use an X360 controller. I sometimes get giddy playing Dirt 2/3 because the FFB is so well-executed that it makes you feel the grip and the crazy sliding in visceral way. I love it.The downside to this wheel (and perhaps any wheel for the PC) is that you must do some configuring and some tweaking in every game. Sometimes, you will need to use the Logitech Profiler software as well. On the up side, once you get an understanding of what the tweaking does, it becomes easy to do. Also, there are many websites that offer helpful tutorials and/or suggested game configurations.I had a lot less luck with games like Burnout Paradise and Test Drive Unlimited 2. The latter "fully supports" this wheel, but even so the force feedback leaves a lot to be desired. The more the term "arcade" applies to a game, the less useful this wheel likely will be (this is probably true of any FFB wheel). The problems I have had with this wheel have been minor, but I will mention them. Even on carpet, the pedals sometimes have trouble staying put. Also, since there are external pedals, USB cord(of course), and a power supply, every time I bring out the wheel or put it away, it takes a couple of minutes. I have also had some trouble with the wheel sliding loose from my desk even though it feels secured; tightening the wheel some more fixes this problem. As for the wheel itself, it is definitely made of plastic but it feels very solid. I've used older FFB wheels and I was always afraid I might break the gears/pulleys/whatever. With this wheel, I often fear that it will break me. You can adjust the FFB from "mild" to "torn ligaments." It's hard to believe how hard this thing will pull if you want it to. Also, I haven't heard any of those disturbing squealing or clicking noises that I'm used to when using a FFB device. The rubber grip wheel is great and the little grip bumps are nice. Paddle shifters work well as does the sequential stick shift (click, click).I look forward to using this with more serious sims like rFactor and GTR as I hear the FFB is done very well in these games and, as I stated, FFB realism directly correlates to enjoyment for me. I suspect this is true for most people.I was hesitant to buy any wheel because I have never found one I liked. I love this one. I hope this helps.

I was extremely apprehensive about buying this wheel and was regretting its arrival thinking that I should have bought the G27......I WAS WRONG! I've had it for about a week now and I couldn't be happier with my decision! I researched and researched and was so worried about its build quality but after using it for GT5 I am certain it is a must have if you buy a racing game. I have a size 12 shoe size and the pedals are just fine. I would have one complaint about the shifter and it would be my only complaint except I just use the shifter paddle buttons on the wheel itself. If you are not an GT5 CRAZED PROFESSIONAL GAMER THAN THIS IS DEF WORTH THE MONEY......Now if you are gonna build your own simulator and the whole 9 yards than I would go ahead and go for the Thrustmaster 500.......that looks INSANE!!!!! But $500-600 for a game accessory is also INSANE!!!! like i said if you want to get the full experience from your GT5 game than this is a must buy! you won't be disappointing!

I gave this 5 stars because I love it so much.I have this thing attached to a cheap-o small plastic adjustable table that I bought at Target so it's low enough for me to use on my sofa. Not sure if it's the same for everyone, but I usually get a pretty crazy adrenaline rush and move around a bit... and sometimes the grip isn't strong enough and can slide out some times. But, this is happening, obviously since I'm not playing properly... so I don't believe it's Logitech's fault. The grip is strong enough. When turning, you really do feel a resistance and it makes everything feel so much more realistic. When drifting and such, you feel vibration as if you're using the regular PS3 controllers adding more to that realistic feeling. Not sure if you've all seen the video, but even the creator of Gran Turismo endorses this steering wheel. If you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

Let me start by saying, this review will focus on Gran Turismo 5, which is essentially what I bought the Driving Force GT for. I bought the DF-GT from Amazon after seeing the local Gamespot selling it for $130. I've always used dual analog for Gran Turismo (GT) since I starting playing GT3-A Spec. I shied away from wheels in the past because I was being a cheap miser. GT-HD Concept and GT5: Prologue made me realize I need a wheel to truly get into these games. So, after reading the reviews of the wheel right here on Amazon I ordered it this past Friday (11-26) I didn't get a chance to dig into it until earlier today (11-28) because of a blunder with the delivery. Basically, one of the maintenance guys signed for it in my apartment complex at 10 in the morning Saturday but seemed to "forget" about it until I started asking questions after a tracking number look up....but I digress.Set up was very easy which was a pleasant surprise after reading some complaints about it here on Amazon. There are wires but reading how there are "wires everywhere" is a bit of an exaggeration especially depending on the layout of your gaming area. There's the USB cable to the PS3, the power cord for the unit as a whole and a cable from the gas/brake pedal to the main unit. That's it. I read complaints about how the USB cord that connects to the PS3 is too short. I disagree with this as my setup has me sitting on a couch at nearly 6 feet away from the TV and the USB cable easily makes that distance with some slack. I've also read complaints about difficulty in finding a suitable table to rest the DF-GT on. This too is also blown out of proportion. I used one of the small fold out dinner tables anyone can find at Walmart or maybe Target for cheap. My girlfriend and I bought a set of four for $35 when we got our current apartment and the DF-GT fits perfectly on it. The gas and brake pedals sit comfortably underneath the table with more than enough room for use so a player can sit comfortable on their couch and still have full access to the wheel without feeling cramped.Underneath the gas/brake pedal is a portion of the base that allows for more grip on carpets which is great. Some of the tracks in GT5 had me jamming on the brake and the gas/break pedal barely moved if it moved at all.The wheel itself is built very sturdy which is great considering how much counter steer it can generate. I originally played GT5 with the force feedback set to 5 and I literally had to tame the beast that was my car on some of the harder turns because of how much counter steer was generated. It's far more realistic than the simple but welcome force feedback that's in the DualShock 3 controller. But with that being said, I noticed an absence of actual rumble in the DF-GT. The counter steer is fantastic but unless I missed something in the settings, there was no actual rumble, which would have been nice. If anyone knows of a setting for actual rumble in the wheel please correct me. I'd love to find that setting. One thing I should mention, when you plug in the wheel, make sure your Dual Shock 3 is set to controller 2 before you do. Otherwise the PS3 won't recognize it until you make the switch between wheel and dual shock.Although I was pretty good with dual analog and GT5 controls great with it, I can't see myself playing GT5 without the DF-GT. I'm sure there are superior products on the market but for the price (which I believe is $84 now, after I got mine for $99) you can't beat it. If you're a GT fan that needs to feel more like they're actually driving, then the Driving Force GT comes highly recommended.

I was on the fence between this and the vastly more expensive G27. I'm very happy I went with this instead. Yes the G27 is smoother, and quieter, with better materials and feel, but I was really surprised with how nice this wheel feels. It's completely adequate for my casual gaming. I thought I would enjoy using the shifter, but who am I kidding, I only have fun with that in my actual car... in a video game just give me an automatic I don't want to fuss with a gearbox. So in that regard, I'm extra happy I didn't get the G27 with a freakin' clutch!I've used it on both my PC and PS3, works very well on both. The wheel is noisy to turn, but I play with headphones so I don't hear jack squat anyways. My only criticism is that when you finely turn the wheel you can feel the gearing click. If you're super picky about smoothness, you should buy a more expensive wheel. But like I said, I am very glad I didn't spend the extra cash.

Love this wheel so much that I have purchased 2 of them so far. The first was used, and got it for a bargain. (should've known I had it coming to the rear) Buttons didn't work including the stick shift/knob/horn/PS button etc but I figured it was because I was playing on a computer instead of PS3. 6 months later the wheel dies mid-race while I was on lap 46/56 in F1 2012. Whoever plays this game can understand why I threw the dead wheel against the wall. Stoney bolgona talking up a storm. Buy this wheel new or pay the consequences. I didn't even have force feedback til I bought a brand new wheel. Thanks amazon, and not whatever subsideiary sold me tolerable garbage.

This review is for those that are looking into getting their first wheel or don't know much about racing wheels, and to clarify some questions I see many people had with the wheel. This review is with the PS3 only.First off, from my score, obviously I liked the wheel. Like most have said on here, it's of great construction. The wheel is of plastic and is heavy and solid; the pedals are plastic too, but is of the highest quality plastic you can get. The wheel has a rubber grip on it, which makes it comfortable and avoids slippage. The GT symbol in the black button in the middle of the wheel lights up very subtly, so it doesn't distract while playing but looks good. Some have said the shifter feels cheapish, but it's actually the same hard plastic, and is of nice quality.Racing on this instead of the controller does take getting used to. At first I was skeptical and thought my track times and performance had actually decreased, but after a day of play I found you get comfortable with it and driving becomes second nature without much thinking involved (like driving a real vehicle). The wheel is great fun, and it really responds well to turning and such (you can tweak the wheel in most approved games). For those getting a wheel for the first time and some clarification on features:What is the force feedback? When does it work and what is it for? Force feedback only works with a very few select games. In fact, from my collection, I have found it only works with Gran Turismo: Prologue. What the force feedback is: when you are driving your virtual car, the wheel actually has a strong motor inside that turns and jiggles the wheel in reflection to the game world. Say your car is on a steep graded curve. The wheel will want to turn you towards the top of the curve because thats the way the physics pull the car, so as others have mentioned you have to 'fight' with the wheel. Prologue has settings for how hard the wheel turns you, so you can set it to your liking. This is what ultimately makes the wheel worth it, and makes driving become second nature with the wheel. The compatibility is something that needs to be brought up and clarified. The wheel will work with some racing games that let you pick your control settings, or sometimes it will be set right from the start. However, if you are planning to buy this wheel to play with all your car driving games (For example: Gran Theft Auto 4, Motorstorm, Wipeout HD, and others) then you might want to reconsider. From what I have found, this wheel will only reach it's potential in GT:Prologue and GT5 (when it arrives). Even if it works with the game, there is no force feedback and the wheel either is very tightly locked by the motor and hard to turn (GTA4) or is left to turn loosely without any motor feedback, making driving awkward and difficult. Also, none of the extra games I tried use the pedals either. You have to push the 'X' button or 'R1' button in the middle of the wheel while driving, which is nearly impossible while steering. Now, if your are getting this for GT: Prologue, GT5, or other compatible racers:What is the red colored dial, and what are the plus and minus buttons near the bottom of the wheel? These are actually only used in GT: Prologue and probably GT5 later on. They are used during a race, and are the only way to tune your car in the game. You press the button in the middle of the red dial and a quick menu pops up. You navigate up and down through the menu with the Plus and Minus buttons, and then turn the dial to change the setting. You can change ABS, TCS, Braking for rear and front tires, and more. Remember, this only works in Gran Turismo! No other games have this feature (that I have found) or make use of these buttons! Some have given different impressions on mounting the wheel. You can adjust the clamps quite a bit, and they come with a section that is removable to give you even more space on thick tables. Some have said you need a heavy object like a wood table to mount to, but thats not completely true. I used a TV tray, with crossing metal legs and hard plastic surface, about 24 inches off the ground. Yes the table moves a very little bit, but it's not a big deal at all. Actually, a little bit of movement makes driving easier for me. My only complaint is if I sit back on the couch I tent to push on the wheel and that slowly slides my stand forward on the carpet. Otherwise TV trays and lighter tables work too. However, for the ultimate experience, get one of the 'wheel stands' which are probably sold here on amazon (they are expensive, more than the wheel). Almost everyone will make do with tables and stands though. The wheel auto calibrates it self (which scared me the first time!) when you start a game or turn on your system by rotating all the one to one side, then back to the other, and finally rotating till the wheel is centered. It's a nice feature that makes sure your wheel is centered every time. The last thing I wanted to touch on was the s
