I spent a lot of time trying to connect to my router, on a system that I *knew* to be working, with settings that I knew to be good. Scouring my router log, I found that the adapter was associating with the router successfully, but that the WPA2 verification failed. So I kept getting a "Failed to connect" error. If I turned off the security protection on my router, I could connect.My problem was solved when I scoured the reviews here. Lori's review mentions that they failed to get a protected network connection when their password/passphrase was longer than 20 characters. I entered a short password in the router, instead of my 32-character passphrase and this adapter connected first time!So if you are having problems connecting to WPA2 protected router security, try using a shorter password/passphrase!Once you have set this up to connect, you get access to the LG Netcast applications, including Netflix and Vudu. You can also get firmware updates for the TV.Note that you need to access the Menu on your TV, then press the red Customer Support button to see the option for a firmware (software) update (or at least, you do on my LD550 TV model). If your TV is like mine, the screen saver cuts in before the software update is finished. Don't turn off the TV when this happens - go back into the menu for software updates and wait until the update has completed!

I'm unsure how to actually rate this product as I was unable to use it. However, I did want to post a comment that I purchased this and was disappointed that it did not work with my TV. I own the LG 42LH50 TV which is supposed to be wi-fi ready but after further research, this model does not allow wi-fi connection through the USB.

This is a good buy for anyone using a recent LG big screen TV. i am currently using it with the LG INFINIA 50PK750 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV and it works perfectly.To be honest at first i was worried. My fears we compounded by the fact that this is the only model that works with LG TV's, so basically if this was not a good product i had not place to go. You know how gadgets are, super cool yet super hard to set up. I was worried i'd get it and then feel like a dork not able to get it to work and then spends hours of time on hold to some tech support dude in India! But this was so incredibly easy a child could set it up. All you really need to know to set it up is your internet wireless password. Just plug it in the USB port on the TV and activate the net widgets on your remote and it will set up prompting to select your Wifi signal and enter your password. It is really that simple!You may, depending on the model, need a software update. If it does it will prompt you to allow it to do so. Agree to the update and then just leave it alone and don't mess with it while it is downloading the updates. This may take awhile, so just go chill (go make a sandwich). If the updates mess up because you got impatient and touched a button just simply unplugged the devise from the USB port and start again. You will be fine!I am super impressed at how flawless this works. Mind you i do have top notch internet at my house, and your internet speed will be a major factor but all that being said i have streamed several HD 1080pi movies from internet services and it is as crystal clear as Blue Ray. This is an incredible little device and you could not imagine my TV without it now.

Had it working 5 minutes after taking it out of the box. Let it find your SSID, input your password and you're set. My 802.11n network is WPA2 and this dongle found it fast. Streaming Youtube and videos from my own network library is cool. Looking back now i have a Xbox and a PS3 and they do everything this adapter does but faster and better. My television is the LG 60PZ550 and it felt wrong having the wireless option there but not using it so i bought this dongle. I don't have a Netflix account but it is nice to know it's there if i need it. Got if for $40 here on Amazon but i still feel that LG should have thrown it in for free. Still nice to have and the price isn't bad.

We tried to use the wireless adapter for about three days. It was so slow, that it could not download the NetCast updates without timing out. As a result, we used a wired connection to update the software. I was now able to log into NetFlix using my new wireless adapter. All solved? NO! It was still too slow to consistently allow movies to stream smoothly. My wi-fi service is only 20'away. It should have worked if it was ever going to work. Conclusion: go with a wired connection. The wireless adapter is pretty much worthless for NetFlix.

The configuration of this with my router (Belkin N 300+) was an ordeal!The signal is really weak, so if your TV isnt close to your router you'll have troubles, sometimes while playing videos from youtube.Buy it if you really need to use your TV internet and can't use cables.

Having a TV with internet capability was greek to me when I purchased my internet ready LG. I originally purchased my adaptor at best buy for 80$. Just for fun I checked the amazon price when I got home and low and behold it was half the price. I took the best buy adaptor back and purchased amazon's. They were exactly the same thing. All I had to do was plug it in and hit the internet button on my remote and it worked like a dream. There are some personalization options for the widgits, but I was able to easily access my netfix and watch movies without any problems, which the main reason I wanted an internet ready TV. I know it kind of sucks to have to buy something extra to connect to the internet, but when I saw amazon's price it didn't bother me any more. I totally recommend this item, definately worth it.

I was expecting this adapter to be easy to setup as I have a LG Wireless Blue ray player that was easy.The only problem I had was entering my security key which is all numbers. I could not figure how to toggle from letters to numbers. Looked in the manual and online support and did not see where if any was the toggle key on the remote. Finally after pressing the FAV key I toggled to numbers and entered the security key and that was all I needed to do. I realized afterwards that right below the FAV key it reads Chars/ Num.I was watching Netflix in minutes after finally getting past this hurdle. I haven't had any connection problems at all after using this adapter for two days now. I had been using a Ethernet connectionthat runs through the House outlets and so far the picture has been as good. I'm using the BriteView 4 connection Powerline which works very good with several of my devices. I finally broke down and got the Wireless adapter because I kept having to swap the Ethernet wall outlet receiver to use with another LG TV and Dish Receiver in the other room. I also got the adapter for $34.95 from Lincoln Premier Home Store on Amazon which was the cheapest price I could find. I still think LG should include this adapter with a expensive TV but since they don't and you need Wireless connection this is the way to go. Works fine for me.

Trying to connect to LG 32 inch LD550:Went and bought two of these, neither would connect to my dir-655 from 20 feet away. I then went and bought a new wireless router, a belkin n600. Still would not connect to the network.I tried selecting my Access point from the list (only the belkin showed up the dlink didn't even make it this far). I tried using push button config (PBC) with WPS and no go. The thing would just not get on the network!I think it comes down to the fact that the people who wrote the software for this hardware device did a poor job and it's not ship quality code.BUT THERE IS A SOLUTION I FOUND:Bought the Netgear WNCE2001. This device is less than this LG dongle and connects directly to the Ethernet port on the TV, so the TV thinks it's a "wired" connection.Here are the steps it took to connect this device to my DLINK DIR-655 (I returned the belkin as I didn't need it) and what I'd expect out of a quality product:1) Plugged in WNCE2001 into the outlet2) Plugged in Ethernet cable from WNCE2001 to the Ethernet port on the TV.3) Pressed the PBC WPS button on the WNCE20014) Connected to my routers web page [...] and pressed the virtual PBC button (most new routers have a physical button too).5) Waited 45 seconds.6) On the network... 802.11n at ~86mps...So basically I can only assume after two routers and two of these dongles, these are just crappy devices...

This USB Adapter is amazingly simple to install and has been operating flawlessly on my 2010 LG 42" LED HDTV (42LE5400) ever since I installed it 6 weeks ago. It simply plugs in like any other USB Adapter on the back of the TV. Please note that it is not supported by older LG HDTV models (I suggest to check the LG website for specifics).To get it operational:Once plugged into the USB port of the HDTV, I needed to first setup the wireless access point on the HDTV (LG's owner's manual says exactly what to do, following on-screen menu selections), then unlock my network via the router and follow the router's software instructions for adding a new network device (I run a 802.11n wireless network using Cisco's "WRT160N" router with WPA2 encryption and manage the network using Cisco's "Network Magic Pro" software). Once the router recognized the USB Adapter as a new device, simply using the remote control of the HDTV to select the correct Network SSID and enter the Network Passphrase (a.k.a. "Security Key") was all that it took to get it running (after locking the network again on the router side).All in all, it took less than 15 min to get this working on the first try. I have been streaming Netflix videos flawlessly with this wireless connection using the LG HDTV "NETCAST" connection to Netflix.One thing I didn't realize at the time of the purchase is that this adapter will NOT give you full internet access as one might easily assume or expect. I believe this is really a limitation of the HDTV's, not this USB Adapter, as the HDTV's don't come with full internet browser capabilities yet. It 'only' allows for wireless use of LG's select (and few) "NETCAST" features, such as Netflix, Vudu, etc. (which it does excellently). Instead, I use a wirelessly connected laptop to get on the internet and then route it from my laptop to the HDTV (by way of a regular VGA cable for the video portion and a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable for audio), but again, this is not using this LG USB Adapter.Apart from the shipping cost of $12.95 (which I found a bit steep for an adapter that weighs almost nothing), I'm very happy with the choice and can absolutely recommend it highly. It shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

Ordered the LG AN-WF100 WiFi Adaptor on Aug 9th, 2011 and received it in the mail Aug 13th. The following morning I plugged it into the back of my LG BD650 Blu-ray player. Couldn't be more simple. The only negative thing to say about this Adaptor is the blue LED light. It's kinda bright and is constantly blinking while the player is powered on. A little bit of black electrical tape over the light solved that bit of annoyance.I get 5 out of 6 bars of radio reception to my WGR614 Cable/DSL Wireless Router which is placed about 25 feet away and passes through one interior wall. Watched a couple of videos from YouTube and Netflix - no problems streaming the videos.

We purchased a new HD tv and wanted to connect it to our wireless setup. We purchased the adapter but were not sure if it would work well. Happily the setup was easy and it works great. No skips etc. Much easier than running cat 5 cable to the tv.

This wi-fi adaptor works like a charm. It took only a few minutes to install and now I have access to other funtions like netflix and youtube right from my TV. I do believe this should have come with the TV but since I was able to get it here for half the price the stores were asking I went ahead and bought it. Got it fast. In a couple of days. If you have a compatible LG TV and have a wireless setup in your house I highly recommend you add this product.

came quickly and was fairly easy to set up. i followed the instructions that came with it. had some trouble initially and it wouldn't work. netgear tried to get me to pay for support to help set it up. i said no thanks. i went through the steps again from the instructions and got it to work. thanks for fast service on the delivery.

This device is so incredibly frustrating to use, it's just not worth having. Set up was a pain, I had to go through the lengthy update process twice before I could use it. It only has a handful of uses, most of which aren't very useful or good, and most are pay to use. Netflix is the only program worth using, and easy to use, but again, it's pay to use, if you don't already have an account, you'll need one to use it. If you have Netflix, then you really don't need the other two movie programs, as they are similar.The device is not very responsive at times, and the widgets have some slow load times. I attempted to show the widgets, and the load time was embarrassing.The widgets are just so so. Stocks, weather, sports scores, most of the things you can get from Weather Channel, ESPN, etc with a simple click of a button, rather then going through your widgets, and waiting for them to load. YouTube is available, but searching for a video is such a hassle and time consuming, it's easier just to use your laptop. Which has widgets, Netflix, etc. So what's the point of paying $35-$75 for a USB device for your TV to do what your computer can do faster, more efficient, and is less frustrating. Save your money, use it for something better. It's really not worth buying.

I have a D-Link 802.11n/802.11g compliant wireless router. Plugged in this dongle and it received 4 bars from my wireless router from about 40 feet away (2 rooms). I did the Access Point (AP) setup on the LG TV but the dongle failed to connect after 4 frustrating attempts. It was mostly frustrating because I use a 64 character key on my router and it takes some time to peck that security code in via the remote control. For each attempt, I had to retype in the code since it didn't "remember" it between attempts. And yes, I double-checked to make sure I entered the code correctly each time. Then I tried the alternative "Simple Setting" on the TV using WPS (wifi protected setup). Basically, you turn on WPS mode on the dongle then go tell your wireless router to search for a WPS-enabled device. You have 120 seconds to get the two to talk to each other. In my case, that worked fine and the dongle is now connected to the internet. Everything worked fine after that. I suggest that the LG dongle has an issue recognizing security keys but if you are diligent and try the alternative method, it just might work fine for you too! There is also a third method to connect through manually entering all the settings but thankfully I didn't have to go that far. I'm happy with the dongle but knocked it down a star for the hassle.

This was for a 32" LG LCD TV that would not be located in a room with a wired connection, so I thought a wireless dongle would be a good solution for Netflix streaming. The TV/dongle was located on the second floor directly over the first-floor location of my Linksys Wireless WRT610N dual-band router.First, I could not get the dongle to recognize either the G or N network. After trying various TV positions in the room with no success for about 30 minutes, I moved the TV downstairs about a foot away from the router. The dongle then picked up the G network, but not the N. I connected to the G network, but as soon as I went to the on-screen menu to connect to any site, I got disconnected. I could go back to the menu and immediately re-connect, but I would always get disconnected as soon as I tried to connect to Netflix, Youtube, or any of the sites available in the LG menu. I spent about another 30-60 minutes trying to troubleshoot, then gave up.I have a moderate amount of networking knowledge, but I am by no means an expert, so it is possible that I could have done something to solve the problem; however, it was not worth the hassle, so I returned this item. Maybe the right combination of equipment and circumstances would make this work, but I would not recommend it to anyone who isn't willing and able to do a lot of tweaking.

We ordered the LG AN-WF100 Wi-Fi USB Adaptor at the time we ordered the TV. It arrived one day after the TV, but took us two days to get connected. With security disabled on our wireless router, the dongle connected quickly, but with WPA2 with a 38 character security key, I couldn't get the TV throught the adapter to connect to our access point, no matter if we were using WPA2 TKIP, WPA2 AES, 802.11g or 802.11b. Finally I changed the password on our router to 18 characters and the dongle was able to connect. (But then we had to reset the passwords on all our other wireless devices in our home.) This is a shortcoming of the wifi device -- since WPA2 should support keys of 8 to 63 characters. (Entering a string of more than 20 characters through the remote is also a pain, but the TV will remember a successful connection for next time.)After getting connected to the wi-fi, and launching Netcast, the our LG 32le5400 TV tries to update the software, which to my annoyance, cannot be done through wi-fi (and Netcast wouldn't even open without the update)! (This is not a firmware update, but a Netcast software update.) You have to be plugged in to the router directly via Ethernet cable to do the update, but our network access point is across the house and not reasonable to wire (hence our decision to connect the TV via wi-fi. I wasn't about to drag the TV around the house, so I connected the TV to a laptop sub-sharing it's wi-fi connection via an Ethernet cable, and was able to perform the update.

Very happy with the LG Wi-Fi usb adaptor. I previously had my tv (60pz750) connected with a hard wire to an internet bridge router, and had all sorts of signal, buffering problems when streaming anything. With this dongle, even though the signal strength registers weaker on the list of my available home networks, I get full HD bars on both AMAZON and VUDU. Yes, I wish it had been included as part of the price of the tv, but I am just happy to be able to really stream at full bandwidth.

Got this to use with LG5400 with internet options.When I plugged the Wi-Fi adapter into my TV it recognized our home network right away. I don't use netflix or the other subscription services so I can't speak to how they work. However, I do use YouTube and I access my account and play from my favorites list which includes dozens of classic Sesame Street videos that my kids love. I can also access videos on my computer network. I watch my favorite movies, music videos and the Prince concerts I have on my hard drive.You can also play music and view pictures from your networked computers. My router is one floor below the TV and we have not experienced any signal problems. This works well with our TV and it fits our needs.

Even a Geico policyholder can install this! The reason I say "BOTH times" is that I first used the lower USB port (I think it was #1) and decided later that it made more sense to install it in the higher port, leaving the lower port accessible for jump drives and external hard drives. It found my Asus Wireless-N router (two rooms away with think walls in between) immediately. The bonus? The LG 55LX9500 has MLB.TV...no more notebook via HDMI...and the picture, at least on the replay of last summer's Brewers-Padres game, was very nearly live HDTV quality. I renewed my subscription for 2011 and I can't wait for opening day! Go True Blue Brew Crew!!!UPDATE: I'm getting sick and tired of having to re-enter my wireless information on the LG. My advice is to put your cable modem and wireless router next to your TV and run your computers wirelessly. The LG and dongle absolutely suck. Plug in the Ethernet instead. One time, I called LG for help and the Mumbai idiot had me completely reset everything and it took a lot of work to set up all my NetCast stuff again. I'm an IT VP and I know bad wireless when I see it and this is definitely bad wireless.Just lost connection again! Time to re-enter all the info.
