I'm really disappointed with this product, I used it for one day and the next day it was broken and never worked again. I waste my money with this product and I definitely do not recommend this item.

After many months of frustration and digging around forums the solution was on Amazon! Extend the dongle from the TV frame by at least 1 foot. All of a sudden all surrounding SSID's popped into view and the connection was stable!No need to change the length or type of security - just pull a usb adapter out of your junk drawer and you're in business. Thanks amazon reviewers!

I opened the package, plugged the dongle into a usb port on the TV (an LG plazma 50PK750), and it worked like a charm. Why didn't I buy the dongle at the local Best Buy? Because they don't stock them anymore, since the new TV's come with them built in. Why didn't they come with them in January 2011 when I bought my TV? Anyway, it's nice to have a plug and play experience with modern electronic equipment.

I got one of these included with my new LG tv.At first I could not get it to recognize my network. My boyfriend suggested plugging it into the other USB port on the TV. I told him that shouldn't make a difference, but for some reason it did. Hmm... that's odd. Why should plugging it in 1 inch lower make a difference?Then it could find my network, but couldn't log in unless I removed the password from my router. Ugh. Even with the password removed, it wouldn't stay connected to my network for more than a few minutes.I called LG customer service and they were not at all helpful, in fact the tech hung up on me! Ok, maybe I shouldn't have been so argumentative with the guy, but I work in IT, so I KNEW that what the guy was telling me was pure BS.I looked at some of the 1 star reviews here and found that several people theorized that when plugged directly into the back of the TV, the bulk of the TV blocks the wifi reception. That is my conclusion too, that design of this may just be TOO compact. I remembered that the wifi dongle that I bought for my kids' XBOX has an antenna built into it. That's a smarter designSo I tried the suggestion from some other reviewers to connect the dongle via a USB cable to bring it out from behind the TV. All of a sudden it worked flawlessly.I'm giving it two stars because I think they should include an optional cable. And LG customer service ought to be more helpful!

I waited to buy a 32" HDTV for my main viewing area until I could find one that connected to the internet. I was already viewing Netflix on my 27" Sony analog SDTV via a Roku set top box and it was and still is great. The LG 32" HDTV with wifi dongle seemed an ideal way to get HDTV and movies all in one package with one remote. The set up was easy but the combination never worked well. It constantly gave me messages that said my network connection was too slow. My network works flawlessly with Roku and my two computers with my desktop hard wired to the router and my laptop using a wlan connection to my router. With Roku or my laptop, once we get past the initial buffering, we never have to stop to buffer again for an entire movie. With the LG setup you buffer for 30 to 40 seconds and get 3 to 10 seconds of movie before it stops to buffer again. Sometimes it just gives up and sends the message "your connection is too slow". My connection (up to 6 mbps) is not too slow with non LG devices. I called LG service several times explaining all the tests I had run and we ran some more that they wanted. I was told they needed to discuss this with their engineering and would call back. They never called back. After much waiting I finally called them once more to find out why I had fallen through the cracks. I was told "oh yes, we decided it was the dongle". "There is a one year warranty but you must get a new one through your retailer". There was no explanation or apology for not calling me back. I called Amazon 91 days after ordering and was told they do not do warranties and they have a 90 day return policy. The dongle was sold through Amazon but delivered from Buy.com. So I called Buy.com. They do not do warranties either and have a 45 day return policy. Under the circumstances, I would not dream of buying another LG wifi dongle. I would rather have an upgraded Roku which is now selling at reduced prices. With LG you get poor and questionable service, awful performance and only 5 channels. With Roku you get outstanding performance and several dozen channels with the number growing as I write. The Roku will work with any TV with the customary inputs. The LG dongle I was burdened with does not work with other TVs and fails miserably with an LG TV. I recommend that no one buy the LG dongle and invest in a much better solution of a Roku plus a suitable cable . Netcast is a good idea but fails to deliver. LG service is the worst I have ever encountered.

Because of some of the negative reviews, I was skeptical and expecting the worst...but I had a very positive experience.- The adapter - Just a typical USB thumb-drive - installs in about a second. Mine fit perfectly and the on-screen set-up menu pops up instantly on your tv.- You will need to know all your wireless settings (IP address & WEP password). If you don't know them, your ISP can tell you what they are in a few minutes.- The on-screen menu is pretty easy but not perfect. If you screw up the entry, and I did a few times, it basically makes you take off the adapter, put it back on again, and start over. It's a minor hassle, but by no means a dealbreaker- It took me about 20 minutes to get everything running. If I hadn't forgotten that I'd changed my encryption password, I believe it would have been set-up in 10 minutes or less.- Once you're communicating wirelessly, the adapter will want to download the latest software. This part is really slow. The software has several updates that are apparently dependent on one another, so once you download "update 2.3.X" (for example) it will then prompt you to upload "update 3.7.X" and then one or two more. This is the longest part. I believe I had to wait almost an hour before all the updates were downloaded...and a few updates timed out and had to reload. Again, this is not perfect but not awful either.- I agree with the many other reviewers that LG should provide this with your TV...they advertise it as "wireless" and it's a shock when you have to buy the separate adapter. I bought my adapter on Amazon for $37.28 and the sale price took a little of the sting out. I just noticed that it's up to $43.80 now.- Unlike a few other reviewers, I have no issues with signal strength and viewing Netflix content is seamless. My TV is about 40' from my router (which is in another room).It functions perfectly so far. I dinged it one star because the set-up should have a reset screen/setting and the software updates shouldn't take that long to download.

I purchased a new 3DTV the LG Infinia 50PZ750 50-Inch 1080p Active 3D THX Certified Plasma HDTV with Smart TV and think it's awesome (see my thoughts of it on my other reviews).Unfortunately, and rather inexplicably, it doesn't come with built-in wifi, instead it nefarious hides under the 'wifi ready' banner. So I needed a wifi dongle and thought that rather than faff with cheaper generic models which I guess could cause conflicts I bought the official LG one as recommended in the TV's manual. I'm glad I did as this was plug and play.When it first arrived I was worried that due to its length, circa 2" or so, it would stick out of the side of the TV. But it's clear that LG thought of this and embedded the USB port just far enough in that this device is completely hidden when installed. It comes in rather pleasing packaging and has a protected gloss black finish. Probably half the manufacturing costs when into the design of it!So I plugged it in and entered my wifi WEP password and it connected first time. As a footnote my TV then immediately automatically upgraded itself to Version 4.x from 3. I'm not sure what that upgrade offers but it was probably important so even if you don't intend to use the online capabilities of your TV it may be worth a purchase just for the easy updates.A little pricey especially on the top of the cost of a new TV but does what it says on the box.

The description of this accurately describes what it does, but as usual with technology products, the description falls short in some essential areas. I'll try to fill in a few gaps.1) It's a "n" device that operates in EITHER 2.4GHz or 5 GHz band. Mine connected at 300Mbit/sec in both bands, but if you're located in an area with a lot of Wi-Fi activity, the 2.4GHz band is probably going to be a problem. I'm using a Netgear WNDR3700 (AKA WNDR37AV, same device) which offers both bands. The dongle has been up and running for an hour now, streaming an HD movie from Netflix without a single hiccup.2) The setup in the TV is a little clumsy, particularly when you're using WPA2/PSK. WPS kinda sorta works, but the settings it pulls from your DHCP server are impossible to view, at least on my TV with the most recent firmware. If you want to use a static IP, I think you're going to be in for some serious pain. I'm not sure it's even possible.2a) They don't tell you in the instructions how to enter an alphanumeric PSK. It defaults to lower-case letters, but if you need upper case, numerics, or special characters you need to use the FAV, CH, RATIO, etc. buttons on the remote to "shift" the function of the number buttons. Don't expect to pull this off with your Logitech Harmony.3) The location of the USB ports on these TVs is about as bad as it can be for wireless signal strength. You can consider "remoting" the dongle to a point farther away from the huge metal backpanel (makes a wonderful shield) of the TV if you're having signal strength issues. (There are USB M/F extension cables in various lengths for this purpose.) e.g. installed directly in the USB port, and shielded from the Access Point by the huge back panel, the signal strength is only 3/6 15' away. It ought to be 6/6, and by remoting the dongle 2' vertically, it is.4) The dongle has its own MAC, printed on the label in very tiny characters. It does not clone the MAC from the wired port.5) The USB connector cap does not stow on the other end of the dongle. I will probably lose it sooner or later. You probably will too.To summarize: works as expected and really cheap if it saves cutting into wallboard, drilling holes, and fishing cable through walls.

The adaptor, arrived pretty well packaged. Installed it on my HDTV, the simple setup screen steps were easy to read and follow, I was online in less than 5 minutes. Working perfect and now I can get rid of my Roku box. One thing less that clatters my entertainment center.Highly recommend this item.As always, Amazon.com is an excellent web site !!!!!!!!!!!!!Satisfied customerMario

I purchased an LG 32550 TV (LG 32LD550 32-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Internet Applications) and I was so excited to get home and get this installed. I ordered this expensive little adapter as required and recommended, and I am so sorry I did.I use a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Gigabit Wireless Router (D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Gigabit Wireless Router) that is excellent for broadcasting to every room in our house except for our master bedroom. We have an older block house, with our bedroom being farthest from the omni-directional antennas. Honestly, we have tried everything to get this TV to work in our bedroom!So this doesn't happen to anyone else...I want you to know I tried initially just to use the LG Wireless Adapter (LG AN-WF100 Wi-Fi USB Adaptor), then I bought an extension for it (AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (9.8 Feet / 3.0 Meters)) to get it out from behind the TV and able to receive a signal better (which helped, but Netflix movies kept dropping), and then I tried installing a new antenna (Alfa 9dBi SMA OMNI-Directional High-Gain Screw-On Swivel Antenna for Linksys - WET54G, WET54GS, WMP54G, WET11, WRV54G, WMP11 PCI Card, WPS11, WRT54GC also for Netgear - FM114P, FVM318, FWG114P, MA311, ME101, ME103, WG302, WG311 and WG311T) but that never really helped. Finally I found heaven in a box with this little bridge like router device Cisco-Linksys WET610N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter. It's compatible with my Draft N protocol and it zips right through all LG's online resources, specially helping us watch movies and TV shows on Netflix without any broadcasting or synchronizing or downloading issues.I highly recommend you DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AND SIMPLY GET THE CISCO LINKSYS DUAL-BAND WIRELESS ADAPTER!I am happy as a clam now!

This works as expected for both software updates for the television itself as well as streaming content via the built in features. (YouTube, etc.) Connecting it to a wireless router is straight forward, even for a novice. My only complaint was the cost when I purchased this. My set has two USB ports so filling one with the WiFi dongle was not an issue to me.

I waited 10 days for this to come in the mail. When it didn't arrive I tracked it on the USPS website and found it hadn't been tracked from the first mail center in WA. I emailed Amazon so they could contact the seller. The seller emailed right back and asked if I wanted a replacement sent. I recieved it in 2 days! I plugged the WiFi dongle in and BAM, it worked right away and started to download a software update for my LG Plasma set! Great customer service! Thanks Amazon and the seller!

I got this dongle for a bluRay home theater and it was easy to setup as any other wireless dongle, no drives needed just works once you enter your security info. The unit I got is the weakest N or G wireless dongle I have ever owned. I don't know if it is just the one I got or what but I use two other units in the same spot they average 95-100% signal strength, this unit reports 3 bars which I'm not impressed with at all but I may have received a bad unit. Very pricey considering it's lack of power and reception. Your results may be better then mine, others seem to have got good units so maybe it's luck of the draw.UPDATE: Unit is dead after 4 months. What I received was an expensive, poor quality unit. I suggest a second router in repeater mode to use an ethernet cable instead. The setup I am suggesting will be faster, cheaper, fast and a warranty. This was differently not worth what they are asking for, $10 unit at most.

I spent a lot of time trying to connect to my router, on a system that I *knew* to be working, with settings that I knew to be good. Scouring my router log, I found that the adapter was associating with the router successfully, but that the WPA2 verification failed. So I kept getting a "Failed to connect" error. If I turned off the security protection on my router, I could connect.My problem was solved when I scoured the reviews here. Lori's review mentions that they failed to get a protected network connection when their password/passphrase was longer than 20 characters. I entered a short password in the router, instead of my 32-character passphrase and this adapter connected first time!So if you are having problems connecting to WPA2 protected router security, try using a shorter password/passphrase!Once you have set this up to connect, you get access to the LG Netcast applications, including Netflix and Vudu. You can also get firmware updates for the TV.Note that you need to access the Menu on your TV, then press the red Customer Support button to see the option for a firmware (software) update (or at least, you do on my LD550 TV model). If your TV is like mine, the screen saver cuts in before the software update is finished. Don't turn off the TV when this happens - go back into the menu for software updates and wait until the update has completed!

I'm unsure how to actually rate this product as I was unable to use it. However, I did want to post a comment that I purchased this and was disappointed that it did not work with my TV. I own the LG 42LH50 TV which is supposed to be wi-fi ready but after further research, this model does not allow wi-fi connection through the USB.

This is a good buy for anyone using a recent LG big screen TV. i am currently using it with the LG INFINIA 50PK750 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV and it works perfectly.To be honest at first i was worried. My fears we compounded by the fact that this is the only model that works with LG TV's, so basically if this was not a good product i had not place to go. You know how gadgets are, super cool yet super hard to set up. I was worried i'd get it and then feel like a dork not able to get it to work and then spends hours of time on hold to some tech support dude in India! But this was so incredibly easy a child could set it up. All you really need to know to set it up is your internet wireless password. Just plug it in the USB port on the TV and activate the net widgets on your remote and it will set up prompting to select your Wifi signal and enter your password. It is really that simple!You may, depending on the model, need a software update. If it does it will prompt you to allow it to do so. Agree to the update and then just leave it alone and don't mess with it while it is downloading the updates. This may take awhile, so just go chill (go make a sandwich). If the updates mess up because you got impatient and touched a button just simply unplugged the devise from the USB port and start again. You will be fine!I am super impressed at how flawless this works. Mind you i do have top notch internet at my house, and your internet speed will be a major factor but all that being said i have streamed several HD 1080pi movies from internet services and it is as crystal clear as Blue Ray. This is an incredible little device and you could not imagine my TV without it now.

Had it working 5 minutes after taking it out of the box. Let it find your SSID, input your password and you're set. My 802.11n network is WPA2 and this dongle found it fast. Streaming Youtube and videos from my own network library is cool. Looking back now i have a Xbox and a PS3 and they do everything this adapter does but faster and better. My television is the LG 60PZ550 and it felt wrong having the wireless option there but not using it so i bought this dongle. I don't have a Netflix account but it is nice to know it's there if i need it. Got if for $40 here on Amazon but i still feel that LG should have thrown it in for free. Still nice to have and the price isn't bad.

We tried to use the wireless adapter for about three days. It was so slow, that it could not download the NetCast updates without timing out. As a result, we used a wired connection to update the software. I was now able to log into NetFlix using my new wireless adapter. All solved? NO! It was still too slow to consistently allow movies to stream smoothly. My wi-fi service is only 20'away. It should have worked if it was ever going to work. Conclusion: go with a wired connection. The wireless adapter is pretty much worthless for NetFlix.

The configuration of this with my router (Belkin N 300+) was an ordeal!The signal is really weak, so if your TV isnt close to your router you'll have troubles, sometimes while playing videos from youtube.Buy it if you really need to use your TV internet and can't use cables.
