I have a lexmark X544. Absolute worst printer I have ever had. Refills only print 200 pages or none at all. Will randumly print unknown letters at the top of the page and not what it is to print. Call help line, disconnected 5 five time. Stay away from this company.

This printer is basic, but has every feature I needed to run my home office. It has direct to email option to send directly to email or server for great paperless document storage. I use it on a daily basis about 40 times a day. I highly recommend the printer and the company. I also have a X374DN in my shop office and the only difference is a few more pages a minute and a USB direct to printer port. Both are great.

Pros: Cheap Ink, Lots of options, fast printing, good photo prints, 5 year warrenty.Cons: Setup can be tedious, printhead errors, no single sheet feederI have had this printer for about 17 or 18 months now, and have not had many problems with it. I tried printing business cards with it and it took time before I got the cards to feed through the paper tray without jamming. The cards would jam when it tried to make the 180 degree turn out of the paper tray. I had to change the paper type from auto detect to matte so it would feed the thicker paper, it would still jam, but not as much. A single sheet feeder option would have prevented this issue completely. Then I had it come up with a printhead error, I cleaned it, followed the remove and install instructions, then had to call Lexmark support. After running through all their procedures, they're sending me a new printhead. So I have a week or 2 of downtime before it's working again. Other than that, 2 problems in a year and a half is not too bad. This is literally the only problems I've had with this printer.I would recommend getting the XL ink, it's $10 for black and $15 for each color and you won't have to buy ink for a while, under normal use. I keep a 2nd set of new ink around if I decide to print a lot of pictures.Photo prints are very good and fast.Printing from SD card or USB drive is convienent and doesn't even require a computer.Setup can done with USB cable, WiFi or Ethernet. You can also setup the "Lexmark Solutions" options and print off lined paper, graph paper, music sheets, and lots of other things.Scanning is a bit complex and can be done just from the printer if you know how to set it up. I never got it working properly. Once I got into a rhythm of scanning in pictures it didn't take too long. Scanning quality is pretty good, but the original photos were upto 106 years old so the pictures weren't high quality to begin with. Also scanning from the document feeder to a PDF file is very nice. I was able to save old documents on my computer and make copies of it later.Coping isn't 1-touch, you have to push Copy, then B/W or Color, then set your number of copies (defaults to 1), and go.2-sided printing is nice to save on paper. There is a little pause when going from side 1 to side 2 that makes you think it jammed for a second.Overall I like this printer. Not too much down time from problems since I got it. With a 5 year warrenty it's not costing me a penny to replace the only part that broke on it.

previous reviewer's comments somewhat helpful. I needed to change the IP Address on the printer itself (the embedded webserver- I guess). The manuals don't explain what or where the embedded webserver is. it took many hours to figure this out. the options are on the printer lcd,hit the menu button on the printer then navigate through to the screens: settings, general settings, setup menu, netwk/ports, network1, net 1 setup... to find where to set the IP address. it was much easier with my epson which was truly setup in a snap. printer arrived Friday evening started setting up printer Saturday at 2pm. had to stop and restart at 5p.m. gave up at 6:21p.m. tried again until 10p.m. tech support closed at 6p.m. on Saturdays. why is this soooo complicated.Printer seems solidly built, easy to use (except the install on wireless netwk part).

Works perfectly as an Epson factory ink cartridge should and the very convenient used ink cartridge return box includes a UPS pre-paid postage label that makes it all that much better. Highly recommended.

I'm a man who has been scorned by HP printers time and time again."Never again!" I shout, as I smash the printer with a baseball bat, a la Office Space. "I'll just print everything off at Kinko's!"And yet here I am, owning another printer. Will I never learn?Actually, this is a phenomenal printer. Easy enough to set up, I just made sure to follow some simple instructions witha CD that came along with it.And wireless! I can print something off of my laptop with no wires connected!Oh sure, HP *claims* their printers do the same. Horse hockey! I've had at least one of them and if the dern thing isn't claiming it's out of ink again, it sure as heck isn't going to print something anyways because my computer couldn't find the printer! But enough about HP. This Lexmark printer has a nifty touchscreen (more on that in a sec) and great ability to print wirelessly. I wish you could more easily add your computer to the printer over wifi without the setup CD, but this is a minor niggle.So, that touchscreen! How cool is that? I'll tell you: SUPER DOOPER COOL.I had to scan something and email it. Ugh. Scan, send to a computer, email from there. Always a pain. But what's this? Scan to E-mail? *click*Two minutes later, I set up access to my Gmail account ON THE PRINTER, not using a computer at all. Now I can scan things without a single computer even being on, let alone being involved in the process, and email them! It's amazing! This is a hell of a feature.Overall, it's a great printer. It prints well, it prints two-sided things automatically (using what I can only assume to be black magic, but I love it!) and works great wirelessly, even if most computers need use the setup CD once to get the printer and computer to play nice. And I haven't even mentioned yet the ink price! This is some CHEAP INK. I cannot stress that enough. HP will cost you an arm, leg, and firstborn for a lousy ink cartridge that it will lie and say is empty after around 100 pages, but this printer? No, no. It prints forever and ever and is ridiculously cheap to get new ink for.Hip, hip and hooray for Lexmark! Buy this printer, and get some frustration out at the Old Regime of printers by smashing your old one up*.*I do not advocate the potentially wasteful and environmentally-unfriendly destruction of printers**.**Yes I do. It's fun.

I have no idea what the other reviewed dumped this machine. I have it and I absolutely love it. Duplex printing/scanning/faxing, laser quality (much better than inkjet and cheaper to operate), had no problem with it whatsoever and is better than the Cannon, Epson and HP printers that I also use.

The following review is for a 901, which functionally contains the same part in question. When operated with a new printhead, the 901 printer prints beautifully and performs its functions as advertised. However, before the first cartridges were fully used (within the first 2-3 months of purchase) two of the color inks clogged the printhead. No amount of running deep cleaning utilities would clear the clogs. The optional light swab as described in help also did not clear the clogs, and the printhead was functionally unusable. This is where the fun starts. In November, 2010,Lexmark made available its 100 series printhead (part # 14N1339) for purchase at its web site, along with ink, as a supply. I was warned of a back-order and I patiently waited a month without complaint for a new printhead. It arrived, I installed the new printhead and for the moment it is working beautifully again. Expecting a recurring problem, I tried to order a back-up for inventory. The web-site now instructs that an 800 number must be called. After waiting my turn, I was told that Lexmark will NOT accept ANY orders to purchase that replacement printhead. I was not given any explanation, nor any hope that the printhead will ever be available for purchase again. My statement that I was perfectly willing to wait months did not sway Lexmark. I was told to search for vendors who might have one left in stock. I wasted my time, and found none. Other than the 901 and 905, I do not know whether the same printhead is used in other inkjet printers. It is simply astonishing that Lexmark is continuing to sell printer models, with the knowledge that a printhead is likely to fail but no replacements will be sold. Even if I was given some explanation of a change in manufacturing sources, it would be somewhat understandable, but Lexmark has offered no explanation. Elsewhere in the reviews on Amazon for the 901 printer, a Lexmark employee suggested that the reviewer contact him. I tried the same address and received no response. I regret that I did not ship this printer back to Lexmark when the first printhead failed. Lexmark has not only created questions of credibility and reliability, but more serious questions about its liability for continuing to sell a product for which it refuses to supply replacement parts. There are serious questions about the representations of Lexmark concerning the fitness of any and all printers utilizing the series 100 printhead, for its expected and intended use. My recommendation is that no one buy any Lexmark printers using the printhead series 100 part 14N1339 until Lexmark explains its refusal to sell replacement printheads, and its proposed remedies.

This printer was very easy to set up on my wireless network. In my opinion it is the best all in one printer on the market in its price range. Another plus is that the black ink is only $4.99. If you buy ink through the Lexmark rewards program you can get a free ink cartridge for every 5 that you purchase and you can also get a free ink cartridge for every 5 that you send back to Lexmark in the Postage paid envelopes provided by Lexmark. When you order inks from the Lexmark rewards program there is no shipping cost.

Very compact and easy to install. The two-sided printing works reliably and will save you a lot of paper. The power save feature wakes up reasonably fast so you won't be tempted to leave it on all the time. Finally, the network scan function is easy to understand and works quite well. Would recommend it.

I purchased this printer last December, and it is right up there with the worst purchases I have ever made.It has had so many issues that I would not know how to even begin discussing it with Customer Service. It has been one thing right after another almost since I owned it, and I have no interest in owning a printer for which I have to be calling for help all the time. The only thing I would discuss with them is a refund.Often when I try to print something, I have to reboot my whole system in order to do it. Sometimes I will get the error message that it is not communicating, and sometimes it just quits and nothing happens. I have done updates several times that are supposed to take care of the issue, and it never does - it might work okay for a few days, and then it is right back with the problem again. I have purchased nothing but Lexmark ink cartridges and have still had several printing issues. In spite of deep cleaning the printheads, it never prints well and always has streaks; so it is pretty much useless for color printing. As other reviews said, it was okay for awhile when I first got it; then I assume the printhead got messed up after a few months of usage. I had to return some cartridges as a couple of them could not be authenticated although they were Lexmark. I did yet another update this afternoon in order to correct the communication problem, and now I cannot get it to print in color at all. I will now be shopping for another printer - and it will definitely NOT be Lexmark. From the number of one-star reviews on this product, something is definitely amiss.

LEXMARK has made it so that you cannot refill the ink cartridges. Covering the contacts will not work. Only buying a brand new cartridge (which will not use all the ink and will stop printing even if there is some left!) will work. You can also try to buy a the 36a and 37a and refill, but they cost more and you can only refill a couple of times.Stick with a printer who's ink is $10 - don't waste your money on any LEXMARK products!

This cartridge was the correct one for my printer. The last one I bought was a generic and I'll never go that route again. It never fit right and laser dust kept leaking from it. Stick with a Lexmark and don't be sorry.

I purchased the Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 at the recommendation of a salesman, who assured me it was a very popular printer. It was not difficult to set up. After using it for a couple months, I started to have problems printing wirelessly. I updated the drivers, and it seemed to work okay for a while. As months went on, the wireless printing became less and less reliable. I had to call Lexmark support a couple times, and they walked me through some computer gyrations to get the thing working again. I went for periods of time when the computer would not work either via wireless or USB. I have a year old Dell laptop running Windows 7. At times I would restart the computer, and the printer conection would work for a while, then it would stop working. It has been very frustrating. Lexmark support does not seem to know how to correct the problem permanently. I suspect that as drivers have been updated, they are not updated to run on my system, but just a guess. I believe I should not have to call customer support every couple weeks to get the connection to the printer working. At some point I will take the time to call Lexmark back to see if they can get the wireless going again - about 30 minutes on the phone with them to troubleshoot. Until then, I am tethered to my desk if I want to print. Not very happy with this, needless to say. There have been many times I fantasize about tossing the thing out the window!When it does work, however, the print quality is fine.Buyer beware.

I bought this printer in December 2010. It was easy to set up and looked great. I was happy about the wireless feature and the advertised low cost usage of ink. Unfortunately I have been very disappointed. I thought I bought the best ink jet printer on the market. It cost $300. Here are the problems I ran into:1. Printer head had to be replaced after 2 months. I had used the printer very lightly.2. The Wifi would go to sleep so I could NEVER rely on a document being printed when I was in another room in the house.3. The touch screen was not very responsive. Had to touch it very firmly a couple of times for the on screen buttons to activate.4. Color printing was washed out and only got worse.This printer was an absolute waste of money and time. I just bought an Epson Workforce and that has been a dream. After I got that printer I realized how bad the Lexmark Platinum Pro 905 was.Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS LEXMARK PRINTER!By the way this is the first review I have ever written on Amazon...but felt I had to speak up.

I am currently using a Lexmark E120n and a Lexmark E260d on our network. Both printers run flawlessly. Our network is running 4 PCs and a laptop with Windows XP OS and my server is a Linux based server.These printers were bought to replace a Brother printer that was similar to these two and one to replace a HP inkjet printer. The second Lexmark was bought because we liked the first one so well that all the print jobs were being sent to that printer. We needed a 2nd one to free up the workload on the first one. These printers produce fast and clean print outs and the units are very affordable.I highly recommend the Lexmark E260d!! It's a great machine at a great price!!

If you update the firmware on your printer, you will be forced to buy Lexmark ink refills which cost SUBSTANTIALLY more than 3rd party refills which will no longer be accepted. They say it's for "reliability" but I think we can all see through that line. Bastards. Once my ink runs out, I'll be going back to HP, which is unfortunate. When I calculate the costs of Lexmark ink refills with my printing needs, I can no longer afford to own this printer. Not only has their greed killed this printer, but they've lost a customer. Yes, they will may make more money in the short-term, but there is no doubt in my mind that they will lose A LOT more money in the long-term. All you have to do is look at all the people here on Amazon who are furious about this issue, and rightly so. -----------------------Update 12/27/11---------------------------I felt the need to update my 1 star review and let you know that it should really be a -1 star review. This is, without a doubt, the absolute worst printer I have ever owned. I ordered refill ink, and of course because I upgraded the firmware it was "official" Lexmark ink. 2 of the 3 brand new cartridges weren't recognized by the printer and I had to send them back and get new ones. The new ones were recognized but the printer only worked for about a month after that. It now prints terribly when it does print, and it shows no sign of being broken in any way. After my wife talked me off of the balcony, printer in-hand, I went and bought a $75 Samsung laser printer. Ahhh.... sanity has returned. I can't even tell you how happy I am with my little Samsung. The work involved in having a Lexmark Inkjet is just not worth it. My wife has told me to keep the Lexmark so we can scan, but since it's wireless I'm going to put it in a cabinet so I don't have to look at it.Oh yeah, it's also pretty insulting that Lexmark is making it a point to comment on EVERY review in order to do damage control on this absolutely horrendous product.
