Sorry to say that at the end of the day it's just not a viable product. For me there are two major negatives that make this a product to avoid. 1) the ear buds themselves stick out so far that if you ride a bike or run the whistle they make as they cut through the wind is extremely loud. 2) Bluetooth connectivity is horrible. When connected the sound is very good and distortion and drop out is pretty much non-existent. Unfortunately about every 10 to 20 minutes they lose connection (on either my S6 Edge or my iPhone 6).

So if you run or bike and you do either for longer than 10 to 20 minutes I would not recommend. I do agree with many of the reviewers here, the maximum volume is a bit low regardless of how perfect the fit, and while not performance related, you end up looking like Frankenstein with those ear buds sticking out of your head so far.

Update (September 8, 2015)
Amazon took care of me and sent a new headset that was delivered "next day." UNFORTUNATELY, the new headset did not include ANY medium silicone ear tips. The second set includes 4 small silicone ear tips. This is mind boggling. Does anyone use the silicone ear tips? How could two random samples not have what is supposed to be included?! This is a quality control issue, and Jaybird does not seem to care about my situation, as they have yet to respond to my inquiry. What type of service do you think they will give you should you have to send your head set in for warrantee issues?

Original Review (September 6, 2015)
Received these the first day they were available and noticed that my package did not have 2 of the medium silicon ear sleeves. Only one (1)medium silicon sleeve was included and three (3) small silicon sleeves. I am dreading having to send these back. I hate when I have to test a product's customer service the FIRST day. Needless to say, these headphones sound terrible, probably because I cannot get a good fit after having to use two different size sleeves.

Subtle improvements make these even better than the already great BlueBuds X. I purchased the "Ice" color from jaybirdsport.com. I previously owned a pair of BlueBuds X and since crossing over from wired headphones I couldn't go back. I just didn't get why you would spend that kind of money on headphones until I tried them. Tried Beats Wireless2 and didn't like the clunky ear hooks or the sound quality so I returned them.
Here are the improvements I've noticed so far:
- Better Fit: They are more comfortable than the BlueBuds X and stay in my ears better
- Sound quality: because of the better fit the sound seems improved
- Volume control: No longer interrupts the music with a "beep" sound when turned up and down
- Battery: I've kept track of my time and they have been regularly lasting 8 hours or more (My BlueBuds X only occasionally lasted 8 hours)
- Case: Comes with a cool case that I will actually use to keep them protected

I highly recommend these to anyone thinking of making the switch from wired to wireless.

So I read a few reviews on the Jay bird headphones, and figured they would surely be better than the first model that released whatever it was called. I got them a few days after ordering, was impressed by the packaging and the little pod that they came with was pretty handy, but that was about all that impressed me. The sound quality was decent, but even the slightest bit of base was pretty much unnoticeable and an 8 hour battery life? Hahahahahahaha. The most I ever got out of them was 3 and a half listening to music and that wasn't even with the volume all the way up. For $170, go by yourself 6 pairs of the jarv nmotion headphones. The range on those is crap compared to these, but I think for $150 I can keep my phone in my pocket. I really really tried to like these headphones, but when it came down to it I was just very underwhelmed. Glad I got them returned in time to get a refund.

Absolutely perfect for a working mom and dedicated athlete who cares about durability and sound quality. Hands free is critical for working and multi-tasking, but these are way more intuitive than others I've owned in the past where I always felt like I was fumbling around. Jaybirds are super easy, and do what you think they will do.
They have four major winning points going for them for working out too.
1) They stay in your ears. Headphones literally never stay in my ears. IMO you don't need the fins if you use the comply foam buds.
2) Sweatproof is legit. I've run mine through the washing machine and they still worked.
3) Sound quality is really great, even on a windy bike ride.
4) They charge fast, and if I remember to turn them off, they last me nearly a week of workouts.

I haven't had an issue with mine, but I know from my experience with a different Jaybird product in the past that their customer service is insanely responsive, so I feel like anything from them is a safe buy.

In my opinion, the best aspect of these headphones is that they are sweatproof.

My husband and I had been sharing set after set of wireless headphones for quite a while. He used them for running and I used them for working out at the gym (they scream: "Don't talk to me!"). He is convinced I ruined them all from wearing them with wet hair after I got out of the pool. Maybe I did. Yeah, I probably did. With these headphones, however, there have been no problems with sweat OR wet hair. I often use them for audiobooks and have caught on quite quickly to pausing, rewinding, and stopping. They fit quite well in my odd ear opening too. I have no discomfort even after a couple hours. I don't know that I notice the superior sound quality that a lot of people would appreciate, but I am convinced they will last a lot longer due to be relatively waterproof. And that's more than enough for me. I was tired of spending $40 to $50 every six months or so for decent headphones only to have them fizzle out.

These are hands down the best in-ear bluetooth monitors I have ever used. They are amazing. I have tried many different brands at all price points. The X2's are the chosen ones. They pass what I like to call the "Lawnmower Test." All other bluetooth headphones fail this test. Not the X2's, they are the only bluetooth in-ear monitors I have ever used that don't skip or fail while I am mowing the lawn. To be precise I am sitting on a riding lawnmower mowing my yard. This usually takes a couple of hours. The X2's never, and I mean never, skipped or disconnected once in my use before winter hit this year. Did I mention that they sound good as well? They do, in fact, they sound pretty darn good! They are plenty loud too. They also connect really fast after initial pairing. TL;DR; Best Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones Currently On The Market.

I will be giving 4 stars even when I found no problem with X. I used X in gym(not very extensibility), roads where there is a lot of dust, public transport like bus where there is much noise, in office where there is quite silence and like that at many places. Result is it sounds very nice. No outside noise is coming. Very comfortably fits so no worry of getting it dropped. I used it in advanced style. Great battery life. For a day I roughly use it for couple or less hours. So it lasts for me for 4-5 days. Quick charging.
One star I left bcaz one can improve like sound quality, it's material quality, etc even though whatever it is right now is not having any problem. One suggestion, I use to keep X and ear tips in a same box as its handy but box size is such small that to keep them is little tricky. I have to make round of X and then adjust ear tips. So it will be great if comeup with some design which can accommodate both.
Thanks for a great product.

Sound quality is just nowhere near what it should be for the price point.
Personally, I also had an issue with the fit. Mine didn't come with the conical shaped rubber ear buds that are featured in their pictures. Mine only came with different sizes of the standard round ear buds and they really don't do a great job of staying put during a workout. I used a set from a pair of Beats headphones but they aren't a very precise fit to the Jaybird set.
I used the little (honeycomb looking) rubber snap on pieces but they didn't do the trick either.

I'd say these would be fine if you're not using them while active but honestly..at that point, I wouldn't see the purpose considering how much better a cheap, corded set sounds.

The mic seems to work fine and although the little buttons are kind of inconvenient, they get the job done.

All in all, they were cool but after a couple months, they sit in my drawer and I use better ones.

Excellent sound quality if you sit absolutely still, but the wire connecting the two ear pieces is a little too short for me. I'm sure they're fine for little guys, or girls but I'm a big guy at 6'1" 300lbs. My head's not huge but these things continuously pull out of one ear or the other if I move my head at all. I thought these were geared toward people working out, or jogging... or some kind of athletic activity. If the wire was just an inch or so longer I don't think it would happen, but for the price why skimp on the wire? Tech support didn't want to know anything about "my" problem. I guess they don't market their products to football players, or weightlifters. The funny thing is they come with this little plastic clip that is supposed to be used to cinch up the slack in the wire if needed. I really wonder if anyone really needs this, or if I just happened to get a pair that is much shorter the normal X2 headset. Did I get a reject?

I actually have the Blue Buds and as much as I'd like to have the x2, don't know why I'd spend the money. I love my Jaybirds but my review is more on the customer service end.
For unknown reasons my set quit working after about 15 months of heavy use at the gym in a sweaty environment. I reviewed my warranty and found that's it had expired. Not having the extra cash to fork out for another pair of expensive headgear I instead called customer service to see if there was a fix.
Without even asking for an explanation my rep told me to box mine up, affix the shipping label he'd email me, obtain a tracking number, call him back and he'd ship me a new set. I did as directed and 3 days later I had a brand new set, as promised, even though I was out of warranty. It doesn't get any better than that.
In today's world where customer service is generally like going to the dentist this experience was like a cold beer and a cigar. My thanks to Jaybird.

One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to in-ear headphones is that they always fall out of ears when I start to sweat. I love that the Jaybird X2 ear buds come with so many options to fit my ears. The comply foam tips are by far my favorite. Whether I am mowing the lawn, gardening or out for a run they have been amazing.

I didn’t think I would have a great use for Bluetooth headphones, but these have become my favorite way to listen to music or my favorite podcast. I have a pretty sizable backyard and I love being able to leave my phone on the table plugged in while I’m doing yard work and still have the ability to take a call with the remote. I love not having to worry about dropping my phone and running over it with my lawnmower or into the dirt.

Also, I can’t speak more highly of the sound quality. I love that they drown out the hum of the lawnmower even when listening to podcasts.

They are highly recommended.

Was debating between these and the Beats powerbeats2 for the longest time. Given the crappy quality of beats products in the past, I went with these.

Packaging is ridiculously nice, and the case for the earbuds is one of the best I've seen. The earbuds themselves seem solidly built, with foam and rubber eartips included. The fit is pretty solid, though it took me a while to figure out how to get the earbud ear wings to fit properly.

In terms of sound quality, these are probably a 7/10 for earbuds, but a 10/10 for BLUETOOTH earbuds. The sound is extremely balanced, though I could use a bit more bass (this is my biggest complaint). The highs are clear with little distortion and the mids are full.

If you're looking for a nice set of wireless earbuds, I'd say pull the trigger on this one.

Nothing but good things to say about these headphones. Yea they are expensive, but you get what you pay for, and more often than not you can find them on sale somewhere. Lightest and most durable headphones I've ever owned. I'm 6'-5" so the short cords on most wired headphones is not an option for me. My battery life is great, I use for the gym mainly, so 2hrs at the most each day. I did hike the Appalachian Trail in my first pair, the older larger model. I got anywhere between 6-8hrs a day of battery life. I've gone through 3 pair of the Blue X2 line, but I'm tough on them and sweat a river at the gym. They cover damage due to sweat, and their customer service is top notch. I feel as though I'm reaching some guy, or woman, on the manufacturing floor who is happy to pack a new pair and ship out for me - free of charge! I'm going to stick with these guys as long as they are in the business! I can't wait to see what they have to offer in the future.

I returned them after using them for two days. I really loved the idea of this product but the price/performance ratio is way off. They aren't bad, they just aren't $180 good.

The volume is a JOKE! Top volume is about three or four clicks away from what I'd expect. They're ok for easy listening but when your jam comes on, these just don't cut it. The bass response is far below my $35 Sennheiser 685i.

I also got tons of cut outs when cycling home on a fresh battery.. I thought it was from the motion but then I got the same cut outs when mowing the lawn. Not reassuring, but due to the sound quality I'm not going to even try another pair.

I just don't have any idea how these headphones justify their price tag. A friend of mine has a $20 version of these that I found interesting so I figured I'd buy a "good" version. Turns out the $20 version is 98% of the sound quality at 1/9th of the price. I might get the $20 version because for biking home and phone calls the concept is good, but if you care about music quality I'd stay away.

Quick comparison of headphones.
I have had the jaybird X headphones for 3 years now and I absolutely love them! They still work 100% and hold a good 6 hr charge.

So when jaybird released the X2's I was willing to give them a try even though my current jaybird X headphones still work.

The major noticeable change the X2 headphones have is the ear phones are more rigid then the fins on the X. Also the X2 headphones have a notch to keep the fins in place when the X headphones did not. This is a very nice addition so the fins are no longer sliding around while working out.
I would recommend these headphones!

But if you want to save some money......
Amazon has the jaybird X headphones for $90-$138 (depending on color)
And you can buy the comply tips for $15-$20.
(Comply tips are NOT needed)

If you want to save some money buy the jaybird X headphones for half the price ($90 vs $180) and you won't notice a difference really.

I never write reviews for products but I thought it would be helpful to others to hear my story.

First the good. These are the best headphones I've ever worn. I've tried many different types and hands down for general use, athletics and on a plane they are the best. You want to make them even better buy the comply foam tips.

Now the bad. I have had no fewer than 8 pairs of these things. They seem to last 2-4 months of daily use and then they die. You might be asking why if they fail so often do you keep going back. Simply put, they have the best customer service hands down, bar none. I've bought 1 pair and each time they break a different amazing customer service rep rushes me out a new pair no questions asked. If I were to ask one thing of the company, please try to make a better longer lasting product, I certainly don't want them going out of business because they are replacing too many of their headsets.

I've been using Jaybird bluetooth headsets for at least five years or so. The sound quality has always been great and the connection is always good so long as you aren't completely blocking the bluetooth signal on your phone. The first pair I had I accidentally broke and my second pair worked fine for about three years until the battery finally died, but three years is a good run. My third pair I am currently using (X2) are as good as the others I have had. I like that you have multiple ear pieces to fit your ear (my right and left ears need different bud sizes).

I use them while running, working out, and mostly while washing dishes and watching NetFlix on my phone :)

My only complaint in the past was proprietary charging cables, but even that has changed now so it's nice to be able to plug my headphones in at work, home, or in the car without having to carry the cable around with me.

Similar to the previous model (which I also own), these remain the best wireless bluetooth headphones for exercise. The sound quality is great and - most importantly - they have a very tight fit without being restrictive. The major issues I have with them are:

1) The low battery warning comes about 45 minutes before the battery dies. If you hear it at the start of your workout, too late! You have to get in a routine where you are charging it before the warning comes.

2) The fins are required to keep the headphones at exactly the right spot. If you don't have a perfect fin and earbud fit, the bud can slip either in or out a millimeter and ruin the seal and sound. It's not very forgiving, compared to Shure or other in-ear headphones.

Still my go-to workout headphones, but I have to admit that I don't wear them outside of lifting & cardio, due to the need for a fit that's tight enough to be fine while lifting, but not something you'd want to wear at the office / home / while communting.

I tried Jaybird headphones about a year ago and I am continually impressed by their products. They are as comfortable as any other earbuds on the market but the way they sit on your ears and around your head is impressive. Talking on the phone with these is extremely clear. I still don't understand how the other person can hear me, considering where the microphone rests but they are very clear and I have no complaints about the conversation. The sound quality of music listening is spectacular. I use these mostly when I am working out and running. It's great that they can block out so much distracting noise but still fit so comfortably without movement. I do sweat a lot and that has never phased them either. I would recommend these to anyone. By the way, this is the 3rd pair I have purchased, 1 for me, 1 for my brother, and 1 for my mother.

Have two pair, one for me and one for wife. So far, these work well for my workouts.
PROS: Lots of fitting options. Good sound for Bluetooth. Two wearing options (In-ear and above ear). Duel duty as a wireless headset. Appears to be a quality built product (time will tell). Did I say "Lots of fitting options"!! Amazing battery life.

CONS: I think most of these are a problem with my LG G4 blue tooth and not the Jaybirds: Occasional echo when talking. Un-pairs from my LG G4 occasionally when I get a text message. Initially putting them on takes some fiddling.

I was initially disappointed with the music quality, but after some research discovered that having a GOOD music player on my Android device would improve the quality. I really enjoy the music quality now, especially since I've upgraded the software on my LG G4.

Good headphones. Time will tell.

I have had these headphones for a little over a week and they are primarily for working out! There are multiple advantages to getting these headphones, yet there are some disadvantages. The advantages include not having a cord, noise cancelling characteristics, long battery life, amazing connectivity, sturdy construction, and being water repellent. The disadvantages are that the headphones feel uncomfortable after long periods of time and they do not get as loud as my corded bose headphones. Overall, these were a great buy for me, someone who works out a lot and cannot have there phone attached to their body for some excercises. I recommend these for anyone in the same scenario and I believe that once I wear these for more than a week, I will not be bothered by the soreness in my ears!

I bought the original Bluebuds X about 2-3 years ago and they were instantly my favorite headphones I ever owned. I'm a very active person so I use them mostly while exercising but they're also super comfortable and lightweight and battery lasts long enough that I've taken them out camping and cycling and hiking and just for casual use as well.

Once I saw Jaybird upgraded them I had to check em out. I really like the color options and the matte finish but the biggest change for me were the new comply sport tips. They're an amazing upgrade from the X's and come standard in addition to the silicone tips in the X2's.

Super comfortable, great battery, great Bluetooth distance, great headphones. Woulda put them at 4.5 if that were an option cause I'd really like to see a waterproof version. But these are the best in ear headphones I've owned.

(I got them at a sporting event where Jaybird had a booth and was selling them for $20 less than retail)

This is more of a 3.5 star review, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

The good:

- Stays in your ears during most workouts. The 'wings' actually do work. And since they're bluetooth there aren't wires going all over the place.
- Worked great on a plane, almost as good as my audia-technica noise cancelling headphones

The Bad:

- Bass is not great. Not bad either, but was hoping for a bit more.
- Battery life is short. Plan on plugging them in after a workout/trip. Probably would not last through a 3+ hour flight. Given the battery has to be super small to fit in the things, this isn't surprising but be aware of it.
- You have to go online to get the instructions. The instructions in the box are an exercise in minimalism.
