This review is about the Husqvarna YTH2042 42-Inch 540cc 20 HP Briggs & Stratton Intek Lever Activated Hydrostatic Transmission Riding Lawn mower I recently purchased thru Amazon. The experience was marred by the fact that there was no owner's manual nor keys. When you get a new product you want to test it out but with no keys you are stuck. Amazon was no help in this matter so I tried our local lawn mower shops. I removed the ignition mechanism (it pops out and disconnected the wires) and found a key that fit by trying different keys at the local repair shop. The manual I down loaded and printed from the internet. The other thing that may be of interest to potential buyers is the packing crate which took me about an hour to remove. I ended up using a "saws all" on the bottom frame to liberate the mower. Fortunately I have a pickup so removal of the large packing crate boards filled with lots of staples was relatively easy. Long story about the Ariens RM1332 riding mower I acquired; then coaxed into working. The key broke off in the slot, adding to my woes, and it was nice to find this and it fit perfectly, for about half the price of one from Ariens, plus I have two that fit for half the price of the Ariens branded one.

I like the features of the equipment & it performs superbly. My one issue is that because I live on a slope I always have to run mower in high gear. I spoke with husqavarna who tells me this could shorten the life of the equipment
Discovering that I purchased the wrong equipment for my needs, I called amazon within a month of my purchase to discuss purchasing a more powerful mower. I was told I could not return it. Yet, before I made the purchase I distinctly called amazon to inquire about their return policy (due to equipment price I wanted to be sure a return option was available. If it was not available I would go to lowes or Home Depot). After giving model number to amazon rep, I was assured there would be no problem with returning
So I'll just keep using mower, as I said it works well on level which is less than 5% of my property. It goes very slowly up the hill even when it's revved to the highest. If it weren't for this issue I would have rated it a 5 star

So glad I decided to buy this on Amazon. Delivered very quickly (for free) which was a bonus. I don't have a truck, so it was great to have the crate dropped off inside my garage. I got it out of the crate myself in about 30 minutes and wheeled it off. Everything was pretty much already assembled and ready to go - just had to switch out for mulcher blades and plug - purchased separately.

No complaints so far. I'll change my review if I have any trouble after riding it a few times.

Assembles easily. Works well. Only complaint is that after picking up a thin stick the stationary blade bent slightly and now makes a noise.

Belt was right size and at one-third the cost, seems to be a real deal. This belt replaced the original belt on my mower, which is a little over 8 years old. If this one will last as long as the original, definitely be the one to buy...

I got these to replace the blades on my Craftsman 54" deck, 26 HP Kohler Dual engine. My old blades hit a rock or something the broke the end of a blade leaving a line of grass. These went on easily and the star fit in perfectly on my Craftsman. They have a great cut and cut the grass perfectly! The grass is even and their are no lines of grass not being cut.

In the end they went on like any other blade (they are not marked which side up, so just look at how they are on your old blades) and they are cheap (compared to the Sears brand) and work just as good (they are just blades). I have no problem with these and am really happy with these (plus all the money I saved)!

I usually go through at least one set of the "universal" blades a year, they just get worn out and even break due to my large 5 acre yard and some rocks that seem to keep appearing no matter how many I pick up. This year I tried something new and spent a bit more and ordered a set of these Husqvarna 54-Inch Premium Hi-Lift Bagging Blades. Boy what a difference!! The mower cuts much better and after quite a bit of use they are still sharp and not worn out like the cheaper blades I have bought in the past.

Saved me $400 after the big box decided the cracked mandrel was not under warranty.
It can assemble with the self tapping bolts. Quick install and has been working great. I think it's a little heavier than the stock ones.

I am happy to get new blades on my lawn-tractor. I made a mistake with the ordering as that I ordered cutting blades and not mulching blades. I like the cutting results it's just that I have to go over the same area more then once as these blades sit higher up then the mulching blades. Next time I order blades I think I will pay more attention to what I am ordering and order the mulching blades. These blades are nice heavy thick blades, maybe they can take more abuse then the mulching blades.

I've had this mower for about three months now and I've used it roughly once a week. My property is slightly over half an acre. Great power, cuts well, and good stability. i was surprised at how tight of a turning radius it has...I expected it to be difficult in tight turns, but it exceeded my expectations. I've been very happy with this mower, I hope it holds up for years to come.

I installed this on my 54 inch deck in the center position and it fit perfectly. The only downside I had was the zerk grease fitting in the top of the spindle was damaged in shipment. It would not let the grease gun fit securely to prevent leaking grease during filling. I removed the damaged one and replaced it with the one from my damaged spindle and everything's good.

I shopped online for almost 1 week reading reviews and looking at articles for the best riding mowers. I chose this one because of the price and high ratings. It arrived quickly in a very well constructed wooden crate and the mower was in perfect condition. My husband put the gas in it and it started right up. He loves it. The only drawback is that the mower does not cut in reverse like his old Sears model. However, he loves this one much better than his older Sears model.

Well with no taxes and free delivery I got this to my driveway cheaper than I could have bought it locally and with a lot less hassle. ABF did a great job delivering mine. I came home over my lunch hour and signed for it, they already had it setting in my driveway crate intact. I just got through getting it put up and I would suggest buyers to download the online manual and read it before receipt as I did. The tires are over inflated for transit and there is a procedure to make sure that air is purged from the transmission before using. The mower fired right up after adjusting tire pressure and checking fluids. I purged the transmission and drove it right to my back yard and stored it due to rain. I am fortunate that it fits through my chain link fence gate like my last 42" mower. You have to lift the guard to make it through but it fits. Also I really like my Budge TC-1 Tractor Cover that I got off of here as well. It is Army green and has elastic around the edge to keep the mower under cover.

I bought these as replacement mower blades for a Craftsman DGS 6500 riding mower with a 54" mower deck. They seem to be thicker steel than the previous blades. They seem well made. I'll see how they perform next cutting season.

I have nearly 2 acres of land that I have to mow. I've always been a fan of Husqvarna products, but they've also been a bit more pricey than the cheaper alternatives so I've never had an opportunity to personally own one.
This particular product is about 25% cheaper on Amazon than my local stores, making it the same price as some of the cheaper equipment.

It arrived in a solid wooden crate. This partiuclar mower came with all of the required accessories, and an additional number of pieces for things I don't even have (like a metal pedal for a clutch.)

All in all I am extremely happy with this system. It performs better than my previous mower which was a Troy-Built system which cost more money.

Perfect fit.. fast ship.. Easy change out. Unfortunately, after I changed the broken spindle, another one went... Probably a good idea to buy 3, change em all, and keep the good swaps for future replacements.

In addition to what you see in the product image, the spindle assembly I received came with 4 deck mounting bolts, a blade nut and washer as well as a 'nylock' type nut and washer to fasten the pulley on top. The part fits well where the original part was mounted on the deck and appears like it will do what I need. Only thing now is to see how it performs.

So I don't normally write reviews but I had to make a comment about Amazon's service. The tractor itself is great and works well. But upon arrival it was pretty badly damaged on top. Everything I could tell appeared to be cosmetic in nature so at least it was fixable.

I contacted Amazon who was quite polite and informed me I could have it replaced or if I would attempt to fix it they would reimburse me for my troubles. I chose to fix it, contacted the dealer here, gave him the parts list and within 3 days I was provided the funds to get this fixed. Man, I wish all companies behaved this way. Thank you Amazon!

I ordered this item based on the picture. It does not state it but this item fits my Sears PYT9000 42" lawn tractor. In the picture it looks identical. The only difference is this one has the zerk grease fitting. Everything else is an exact match. All holes line up and threads are the same. Saved a lot of money ordering this through Amazon. Sears Parts.com sells this for $70.00 each. I got 2 for less than $60.00. Very Happy.

Exactly what I needed to get my mower deck working again. Belt was very snug fitting the first time I installed it (even with the tension pulley moved to the minimum position) but that is to be expected and is a sign of a good fit.

these blades come with a good edge and I like how they drop down. they get lower to the grass so u don't have the lower the deck down that one notch. not a huge difference though roughly a half inch I think. they don't have as much lift as I was looking for but still cut good its hard to get those triple blade decks to mow right without getting under them and cleaning them out especially when the grass is wet don't even bother with the bagger. I take a short stick and put it right were the guard is mounted to its hinge and I put it right behind that metal lip and that grass spreads like butter, but for the price I got the blades for was money definitely well spent my lawn and a couple of my neighbors lawns look good

what a difference cutting the grass no more clumps of grass, no more bagging, the gator blades are great, installation took a little time as long as you can use a jack or ramps to raise the mower, I would recommend this product to my friends

This assembly was more than worth the price. It appears to be identical to the original assembly installed on the mower. I bought this assembly for about half of what the "housing only" cost from the OEM. This has been in service for more than a month now with no problems. The one characteristic I really like is that this assembly has a grease fitting installed which allows you to grease the two shaft bearing whereas the original equipment had none likening the failure of the bearings. It fit my 46" mower deck perfectly and I additionally installed four (138776, 157722,173984 part numbers for all the same bolt) bolts new and a 1999189 belt keeper. All the parts were perfect,. DO NOT reuse the mounting bolts from the original spindle as they are self tapping and may snap upon re use. Also, you will note that the spindle assy mounting holes do not have threads cut into them. This is because your supposed to use the self tapping bolts, do not thread these holes with a tap as this will cause the self tapping bolts not to properly fit and secure themselves. Be sure bolts are fully seated and torqued to specification. This is an easy replacement for a home handyman unless the deck thru holes are cracked then some welding or brazing may be required which might be a bit above the average homeowner. Deck needs to be removed to facilitate this project. Only bad thing here is that the four bolts peviously described must be purchased and do not come with the new spindle, don't know why.

This part was a perfect replacement. It was very easy to install on my Husqvarna 54" mower. However, I used the old mounting bolts, not the new ones that came with this spindle. Be sure to grease it well before use.
