Bought it a week or so from Amazon after looking at all different types of scanners and their reviews. No store around me had this model in stock. Great delivery time, everything arrived in box. Scanner glass clear of marks or debris inside. I operate a laptop with Windows 7, and installed only the drivers and the user manual, and not ArcSoft like several reviews said they had problems with. I do not need that software anyway.The scanner works perfectly so far. I am using it to scan artwork - smaller paintings on paper that I want to enlarge for prints. I have been scanning on professional mode w/o the unsharp mask selected. Right now, I am scanning 2" x 2" painting at 9600, so it can be blown up to 30" x 30" (which most people will not need that high). The LED light works awesome - no warm up wait time, and it gives me the exact color of the artwork, so I don't have to fix it in Photoshop. The scan time with the higher dpi does take a lot longer, but that is expected with any scanner. It has been taking about 8 minutes to scan. Then I have been cropping the photo exactly, resizing, and saving in 3 different file types/places. This takes a bit longer as well because of the many pixels and file size. Place the artwork/photos with the top/'up' side facing the bottom of the scanner (where the buttons are) for it to be oriented correcly once scanned. Otherwise, it wastes a lot of time rotating (and waiting on the computer!). In total, each piece takes about 20-30 minutes to complete.I am very happy with this scanner so far. It works exactly like I expect one to. If only scanning photos or anything else at a smaller dpi, it takes MUCH less time. I just want to report on the art side of things, since there are not very many/any reviews on that.The placement of the cords do not bother me at all, and actually work well. I have placed my laptop on my desk, with the scanner underneath on the old keyboard pull out shelf. Pull out to put artwork in, push back in to scan (so don't accidentally bump it when getting up from the chair to do something else while it scans) or when not in use. Works great.Will report back after several months of use if anything changes.

I got the Epson V33 Scanner and had a lot of trouble with the EPSON SCAN Software. I installed it and the buttons wouldn't work right. I kept getting a message telling me to re-install the program. I even loaded it from the file on the disc, and still got the error message. When I click on the Epson Scan Icon on the desktop, it works great, and the pictures come out great, but it won't work with the button. I haven't had time to contact Epson yet.

I bought the scanner with a purpose of being able to scan old slides and pictures into the computer. I read many reviews of the product and was satisfied enough to go ahead and purchase it. It has lived up to all my expectations, the first thing I scanned was some slides and they came out much clearer than I ever expected, pictures were the same. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone.

I was living with my ex's parents when I originally purchased this scanner. That being said I was very limited to space. This was the perfect option for my situation. Although it is rather long, it allows you to really scan quite a good array of images. I have yet to figure out exactly how the overextended image stitching program works. None the less The scans are great.

Plugged in the scanner, and it powered up. Installed the drivers, but my Windows 7 machine wouldn't recognize the scanner. Then the yellow error light on the scanner came on. Epson's documentation is poor, and it's support is non-existent. They don't even have online forums for posting questions or searching for answers. The scanner was quickly put back in the box and sent back. Good riddance.

I have had my Epson V330 for several months and reallylike it. I have done all of my slides and am working onmy negatives. It does the color negatives with no problem and I've had no problems. I do have a few negatives that won't scan. They are positive film negatives. Has anyone who has this scanner been able to scan this type of negative? If so would you let me know how to go about it? Thank you.If any one is thinking of buying this scanner, I highlyrecommend it. This is the only problem I have had withit. It does a great job with the slides and copying pictures. Some of the regular negatives I have done the pictures have turned out better than the ones I had professionally done years ago.

I recently purchased this scanner based on the good reviews. After attempting numerous times to install the drivers, I called customer support. After waiting the usual half hour, I was told to download a driver from their website. Their server was so slow that the service rep wouldn't even wait for it to finish downloading (another long wait). He told me to install it and call back if it didn't work. Guess what, it still didn't work. At this point, I have about 4 hours invested in installing a $60 scanner. I'll send it back and buy something else.

This is my third flatbed scanner. The others were from another well-known company, and were good, but this one is head and shoulders above, due to the unique design and the super software. Only minor design flaw in my opinion is the USB and power cords plug into the wrong end of the machine, so I've got cords running across my desk alongside the scanner. I'd definitely purchase this item again.

Setup was easy and I was scanning photos quickly. In auto mode I can scan one photo every 45 seconds and the resolution is outstanding. This scanner replaced one that I just put the photos in through a slot and I'm glad that one failed on my first use. The V330 isn't as convenient but does a much better job. I have about 4000 photos to scan so I'll be able to give it a durability test. This is a good photo scanner.

After much research I selected this item for moving photos to digital. Snap shots have accumulated over the last 20 years and needed to be stored electronically. The scanner was very well priced, it was delivered promptlly. Very easy to set up, all the instructions, drivers, cables were included. Instructions were easy to understand. So far it has worked as advertised.

It seems to be well built and solid. I was surprised that the "dust removal" feature works very well. I scanned the same negative using it and not using it. Even I couldn't find anything to complain about.

I bought this to scan my old pictures, and some papers. I found that on Ubuntu 12.04 it works great. I found that you need several deb files to get this installed properly.Download and install the following debs in the following order;1. iscan-data_1.18.0-1_all.deb2. libltdl3_1.5.26-1ubuntu1_i386.deb3. iscan_2.29.1-5~usb0.1.ltdl3_i386.deb4. esci-interpreter-perfection-v330_0.2.0-1_i386.debYou can find these debs online by searching for them. Once you install them (in that order), it works really really great on Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 is all I tested it on).It's nice that I don't have to reboot and boot into Windows just to scan some papers now.

I've always had Canon scanners but decided to try an Epson since the price is right and it does slide and 35 mm film scanning.The scans are quite good when it works but the software [latest drivers from Epson's website] crashes. The scanner hangs OFTEN requiring either a power cycle and unplug and replug of the USB cable, or restarting the Mac. I don't know if this hardware or software related.This is one of the most frustrating devices I have *EVER* used on a Mac. [Mac Pro running 10.7 Lion] This happens both using IMAGE Capture or the EPSON software.I can't recommend this scanner for Mac users on 10.7 I probably should have bought the Canon.UPDATE: Epson and Apple have finally released updated drivers for this thing and it finally works reliably under 10.7 Lion.UPDATE 2: I'm not sure what kind of bug exists in this thing... but after a few scans, you may notice a red or blue line running down the scan. I notice this when scanning negatives. You have to power cycle by removing power and usb cable and restart your computer. Very annoying.

This scanner is excellent. I use it to scan color slides to my computer and have found that it does a great job. The controls are intuitive and make it easy orient slides without removing and reinstalling. I would certainly buy this scanner again.

I had bought this product & had to return it, the first item was not functional. Fortunately the second unit worked perfectly. It scans slides well. It is a bit slow. It is tedious to load them manually instead of having a sliding loadable tray. All in all good for the price.Plus I saved many trips to a photocopy place.

My mother in law gave me this for Christmas and I love it. It was so easy to set up and use. I am now obsessed scanning. As a former model before digital cameras were around, we used to have to develop and print only the best pic. I am now scanning my slides and negatives and loving the results. I will get to my personal photo albums next. It will be great to finally get rid of the huge box of albums I have. I will back it all up on CD's and carry that when I move!

This is a nice scanner for a very good price. It is quite capable and reasonably quick at scanning documents and photos.Importantly to me it works with modern linux kernels. I have it installed on Linux Mint 12 (Ubuntu 11.10 based) and it works great.Just download the free Avasys drivers (iscan backend) for linux. I also had to install libltdl3 which is a missing dependency.This deb can be obtained from the Ubuntu download repository for Hardy and this one works well.It works with the iscan software and vuescan as well. I have not yet tried SANE.When used on Windows with the Epson software you can scan multiple photos at once and save them as different files. I have not found linux software with this capability. If you have used previous Epson scanners the software will be familiar to you.The exterior is designed in an unusual way. If the scanner is in front of you like a book with the Epson letters upright and readable the documents must be lined up with the top of the document down against the bottom left corner of the glass. Also the USB and power cables stick out of the front right of the machine. This makes sense if the unit is intended to be semi-portable and put on your desk and plugged in only as needed (with easy access to the power and usb plug). It is light enough to be used this way.It works better for me to have the long side facing me and the cables out the back. It is also easier to put in the documents this way. The control buttons are on the back-right of the machine but I don't use them so it is not an issue.I would recommend this scanner if the cable, button and lettering positions are not an issue for you.

A good product for slide scans and photos or docs. If you have a mac, download the software from Epson site.The CD is not good for Macs running Lion and up, but the web site has good scanner software. Easy to use. Scan 4 slides at a time.

I bought from Amazon because of the good price. Have a 3 in 1 scanner, but it made lines on the photos. This one scans great and it does pdf files as well. Used it to scan old slides and that was easy. No problem with scanning photos or documents. Easy to email if that's what you want to do. I would recommend.

This scanner / copier is doing just what we wanted: household duties + making it easier to digitize all the old photos. All this at a cost we found to be affordable along with decent reviews on use & dependability.

So glad I purchased this scanner. It is a real workhorse and easy to setup and use. There was some dust under the glass but that was easily taken care of. Took a total of 5 minutes to open the scanner up, clean the glass and close the scanner back up. I have now scanned close to 400 old family photos in the past 3 weeks without any problems at all.

I need a scanner to scan images from books for my history class. We have the V330 at work and they work well and stand up to serious student abuse. I decided I didn't need the slide holders and the other fancy extras and got the V33 and saved a nice chunk of change. I don't have the word's greatest eye, but co-workers who do tell me that the photo image quality is really good for the price.I also like that you can scan OCR because I do occasionally scan text I want to edit.Overall, nice little workhorse scanner at a good price.

Installation of software is non-intuitive. One is not sure of what is which. Same goes for the manual. I have Win 8 and had to reconnect my printer several times for the scanner to recognize the printer.Direct (Scaner to Printer) then worked very well.A bit perplexing as to what/where is up with it.

Obligatory story of my journey to find a decent scanner. Back in the late 90s-early 2000s I was in a highschool yearbook club. My job was to illustrate story submissions & scan them into the computer. God did that take a long time in those days; you could eat lunch while a single picture scanned. Many years latter my family bought a huge flatbed scanner, & I'd still be using it out of frugalness if I hadn't lost the plug when we moved. In 2003 I got a new computer & my first all-in-one scanner/printer; an HP PSC 2355. As a printer, it was better than any I'd used at the time, but the scanner was never that good; the software was a pain to install, it was slow, small, & it made a noise like trying to start up a dying car. Now I have another new computer & the old scanner isn't W7 compatible, so I finally had an excuse to buy a nice big flatbed scanner.Now the important part: Well, when you're upgrading from a small scanner purchased in 2003, ANYTHING will be 5 stars by comparison. But what made me choose this particular scanner? Why is this a good scanner for illustrators?*I want to buy a toner copier because coloring ink printouts ruins my expensive art markers. This means I have no use for an all-in-one scanner that comes with an inkjet printer.*Sometimes 8.5 by 11 is just not big enough, & on a small scanner, this means you have to either draw the image on different sheets of paper or scan a large sheet more than one, then stitch the pieces together in Photoshop. So large format is the way to go.*You could scan an artbook or a novel & it won't look runny near the book binding. I recommend this for scanlators who need quality scans from raw mangas.*It's sooooo much faster & quieter than the 8 year old Hewlett Packard I was using (really, anything would be).*That whole thing about converting scanned documents into editable text was something I could only dream of 8 years ago. I want to see if it will work with really nice handwriting.*My grama gave me $70 & said I could buy anything I wanted on Amazon. I only watch a movie once every 2 years, so I figured this was the way to go. Plus the shipping was free.*The PDF converter could be useful for anyone trying to become a Comicer, Mangaka, or Doujinshika.I'll add more after I play around with it for a little bit.*
