This is a good little camera for the money. Lot's of modes to choose from and they did perform well. I reconend it for a pocket knock around or do what I did buy it for son for his first camera.

I wanted a camera with an optical viewfinder and readily obtainable AA batteries. This one fits the bill perfectly, although I would have preferred a more powerful zoom.With even the best screens my wife and I find it difficult to see scenes in detail on bright sunny days at a beach. Also, we travel widely and I always have four rechargeable batteries on hand. However, I also like the fact that essentially anywhere in the world one can find AA batteries in an emergency.

Shipping was efficient. Great product for such a good price. I purchased a 32g, 45mb SD Card and it works well with the camera.

More complicated because everything works digital. The only user manual is on line and it cost to download. Why not include a small pocket manual. How much would that cost Canon?

I like this camera because it has a viewfinder and is quite reasonably priced. Most digital cameras with a viewfinder are quite a bit more money. So far, it works great. Its drawbacks are that it does not come with a manual or "chips."

my first disappointment was taking it out the the shipping case: no protective cover for the camera no instructions (yes instructions are on line, all zillion pages of disclaimers etc.)the flash takes too long to load/charge making it impossible to shoot quickly.while shooting the camera switched to some unknown mode which made replay and download of the pictures impossible.I will return it!

Uses off the shelf batteries available everywhere. Takes good movies with the push of one button. Viewfinder window. Light and small.

For the price, it has features of more expensive cameras. Perfect for the advanced beginner. Prefer the fact that it uses AA batteries instead of a battery pack so once you remember to pack some extra AAs, you shouldn't miss anything.

I remember when I did buy my first 35mm Canon TX. It was the top of the line at that time. Canon tries to listen to customers and I think they do pretty good job. Now about this 1400. I have the 1200 model. I have never worried about how to download pictures, because I removed the SD card and plugged to SD card to USB adapter. I used Windows Explorer to get the pictures. I recommend the same to you. These adapters are available at Micro Centers or I am sure you can get them here in Amazon. I hope you can find one. Good luck! Actually, I am thinking to buy this 1400 model besides my 1200. These are the few ones which have viewfinders.

We bought this to replace a point and shoot that we lost in Florida while on vacation. There are very few point and shoots with two ways to look at the subject of your photo. This camera has that option which I really like when the sun is shinning full blast and you can't see the screen at the back of the camera. Now we can look through the viewfinder and do it that way. The pictures are great and the quality is excellent. Would highly recommend this camera.

great camera. It's the only decent camera with a viewfinder. A requirement for us. Old school and very accustomed to SLR's . This camera is a "pocket" back-up and id a replacement for an old Cannon A520 which is now a little unreliable. These small and relatively inexpensive Cannon cameras are almost bullet-proof. One question -- Why so few cameras with a viewfinder ??---Dave

I am very happy with this camera. I like to take a camera when I go out hiking and this is perfect. Small enough to fit in my pocket, very easy to use, long battery life and the picture quality is very good. So far all the pictures I've taken with this camera have been great.And I like that it runs on standard batteries, I can always carry spare batteries. It does not have an included usb cable but that is not a minus for me since I have four already.My only gripe is that the case is plastic, a metal case would have been better.

I like the camera, but was disappointed that no owners manual was included. I live in a rural area where high speed internet is not available and it would have taken me hours to download the whole manual and no way to pick and choose pages. I had to go to a business that has fast internet and have them print it out for me.

The only concern I have is it's durability. I use this in my job frequently and need it to hold up. Only time will tell but I hope I get at least 4-5 years out of it.

This camera is an absolute dream to use. So simple from the first time picking up. Point and shoot. All there is to it. Takes beautiful pictures. I really enjoy using it. Would defiantly buy again!

I love the viewfinder--I can take photos in the bright sun when others are forced to guess. My only problem is that indoors it can take a long time for the flash to go off. Still, I really like it and the photos are excellent.

Has many features which make photography much easier. Not sophisticated enough for aficionados but an very high powered and compact point and shoot camera. I particularly like the eye level view finder.
