I used to have a Nikon Coolpix, I liked it but had some issues it didn't last long. I replaced it with this canon and haven't had any issues. It works well, great battery life, handy size, quality pictures, user friendly. I lost the first canon I had and this is my second one.

I gave this to my daugther as a replacement for a gift camera that did not work. It is a big improvement from my Canon camera that I have since 6 years ago. The only problem is that it takes a long time to charge the flash and to take the next picture. The picture quality is very good thru. I give it only 4 stars because of the issue with the flash, other than that, I recommend the camera if you are on a budget.

This doesn't claim to be the last word in cameras, and it lacks many features of the more expensive models. But it takes fine pictures, and it is easy to use, and the price is right. I especially like the optical viewfinder and hope other cameras will start including it.

This is the third Canon Power Shot I have purchased. I purchased this one for my wife before we traveled to Europe. Because we take many photos out of doors, the view finder is an invaluable feature. Plus, you never need to worry about a low battery if you just carry a couple spare double A's you are always prepared. And the added bonus is that this little camera takes great movies (although the sound could be better).

So far, so good. I love having the viewfinder. I am an armature. My photos seem a little grainy but maybe with knowledge I can change some settings. I only use the basic settings. The close up setting turns out beautiful and the camera makes that selection automatically when you place the camera very close to the subject. Before I found this camera. There didn't seem to be any other camera in this price range with the viewfinder. I also like using regular batteries. The camera gives plenty of warning before the batteries are completely gone. I will edit my review as I use the camera more. Thanks to others who take the time to review. I looked at what you had to say.

very good pictures, very durable, gentle with the batteries(simple AA last forever), I'm using it with rechargeable,- very happy with it.

This camera takes great pictures. It has a view finder which is an absolute must for me. The camera has so many features/functions for handling various situations.

I've used PowerShot series of cameras professionally since the A550. The A1400 is the best so far with stunning resolution,ease of operation and the eye-friendly viewfinder. The focusing screen is not enough when the lighting is wrong. A longer optical zoom range on the next in the A series would be a big plus. I recommend it to all my students.

Terrific pictures, easy operation, and most importantly in the sun, a viewfinder!!! Plenty of Megapixels so that pictures can be on canvas.

The viewfinder, reason for buying the A1400, is too small to easily use. For occasional use it might be adequate but description doesn't quite add up to field use. Indoor application probably is a better use as opposed to use outdoors. Lack of software disc was totally a surprise and its' availability online not a good option.

Great little camera with a hard to find view finder built-in. It would have been nice to have received a real manual with the camera though they can be downloaded on-line. Takes High-Resolution photos and has built-in special effects (ie: fish eye lens) if you like to goof around. Video quality is very good. I would buy this one again.

The camera works great but I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I'm mad that they didn't include an owner's manual. Stop cheaping out on the basics!

Good automatic camera.The auto focus feature does not work that well.Put camera in Program mode with Center Weighted focus and it works much better. Ip

We were looking for a small camera with an eye piece as well as a screen because it is often very difficult to view the subject on the screen on a sunny day.

Photos are clear and crisp, very brilliant !! I am very happy with the quality of picture I am getting with this camera. We hit a large bump while snapping mtn range photo and it came out beautiful ! Def recommend for easy point, zoom and shoot.

I've only been using it for a couple of months, but I purchased it because it had a view finder. IT seems to be the ONLY small camera on the market that has one. And I was tired of finding myself shooting blind with my other camera in bright sun because I couldn't see what I was aiming at. And for my purposes, it works very well. And the photo quality is certainly adequate (I mean if you want a really great photo - spend a few hundred bucks.)

I bought this camera for my mom to replace the very complicated high-end digital camera I bought for her last year. This camera is perfect for older folks, the camera is easy to hold, has large power on/off, shuttle, video and playback buttons. The zoom dial is also perfectly oversize for older people with less dexterity. Also the camera uses two AA batteries which is just simple and so much easier for taking on trips.I highly recommend this for senior citizens.

Does not include USB cable. Does not include AV out cables. Both of these were included with previous versions of the PowerShot Axxx line of cameras.Does not include memory card, not even a small starter card.I have liked Canon cameras from the past days, but this is getting ridiculous. Give people enough to get started and to use their photos.Not including the memory card I kind of get. But no cable is ridiculous.
