An optical viewfinder is difficult to find in any compact camera. Although the zoom is only 5x, the camera takes beautiful pictures with superb detail. I was able to take close ups of several small items, something I wasn't able to do with a digital SLR that cost nearly ten times as much as the A1400. The A1400 is simply fun to use. For the price Amazon is charging, you also get the great benefit of having a 16 mega pixel camera.

This camera was VERY small. Didn't fell comfortable even in my small hands. It's plastic case made it feel cheap. Be aware there is no image stabilization. I over looked that in the online information. The support person said (she was very nice!) you have to just hold the shutter button half way til it is focused then depress it completely to take the photo. Had to be extremely careful or I got blurry photos. Just didn't work for me. I returned it for another camera.

Wanted an upgrade since my A710's USB connection seems to have died. But the A1400, while lighter and sleeker has several *downgrades*. These include: a menu search for the macro setting compared to the single button on the A710; no option for setting your own shutter speed &/or aperture; and poor metering. I know it's a P&S, but the A710 does quite well in those areas. Yes, the A1400 has more than twice the MP (16 vs. 7.1), but I'm not making 16x20 prints or doing pixel by pixel shopping, and I've never had an issue with resolution on the A710.

I bought this little camera for my 5 years boy, he love it.I am so glad that I still can find good camera which fit by traditional AA battery. So convenient.

easy to use, easy to download pix with a usb cable or simply pull the SD card, excellent quality pix. Love the viewfinder, love the fact it uses AA batteries, love the zoom, love the video capability. Took it on a trip to France, and came home with excellent pix. THANKS for a top quality little camera. Bought a caribiner clip camera bag that fits it perfectly, and the camera hangs from my purse. Easy peasy....

Great camera for the money.Takes good photos and easy editing and setting changes.Compact size but takes pictures like bigger cameras.

Sorry, I don't own this camera. Mine is a Canon PowerShot SX10IS. Now that one is a nice camera. So I don't know what to say about the A1400. I am wondering why Amazon wants me to review a camera that I never purchased.

I like everything about this but I don't see anything about a Macro setting for super close ups? I will get it only with that as one of the options that I will use a lot! A lot of the other settings are clutter to me. Thanks!

So far the camera works very well. It is simple to use which is what I was looking for. I downloaded the manual which was very helpful. I would recommend this camera.

It takes a while to learn the features, but it's impressive.I just wish the front lens had a screw in capability for filters.I still like mirror SLR's the best, but they are out of my price budget.Even though the pixel count is 16MP, the focus still does not seem as clear as an SLR with 12MP.

I was disappointed that the SD card was in the same place as the batteries...inconvenient..I always have to be careful that the batteries don't fall out when I take my card out. Great that it has a view finder but, where it is placed... if you use it, it leaves nose prints on your viewing screen. I thought I would like the fact that it uses regular AA batteries-they can be replaced quickly-no need to wait for the battery to recharge... but, if I take a picture using the flash, I can't take another picture until the flash recharges-I get a "busy" note on the camera. I can imagine I'll be missing some very great once-in-a -lifetime photo shots because the camera is "busy".

This camera gives perfect digital pictures for such a small camera.The zoom was very good for a trip to the Grand Canyon.Keep the strap around your wrist to avoid dropping camera.I recommend this camera very highly.

Good camera for my husband who wants simple controls, AA batteries so we don't worry about trying to charge in the middle of the day and lightweight. Also helps that it takes good pictures! It is getting harder and harder to find cameras that still take AA batteries, so I buy them when I can.

This camera is simple to use with outstanding results. It is difficult to take a bad picture with this camera! I would recommend to anyone desiring a practical and simple point and shoot camera.

It takes a good photo and the zoom works well but now I have to download a PDF file and study up this and that to set the features and the like. With the SONY, I just learned so quickly what to do without reading any manual

Easy to handle, solid but lightweight.. Compact just like all other brands but have easy to use viewfinder on those bright days. I was pleasantly surprised with this camera and I love it! Great crisp photos. Would recommend this to everyone that likes point & shoot cameras.
