Canon EOS 60D is a somewhat earlier version DSLR. Let me use my usual disclaimer, and admit that with so many good cameras around, it is more about what mix of traits or features you are looking for.On that note, the camera's trait mix is as follows. It has an 18 megapixels resolution. Most importantly, the sensor size is APS-C. That's just one step below 35mm Full frame.It has an optical viewfinder, which works through a pentaprism. The purists would argue this is the way it was supposed to be- that is, with minimal electronic intervention. As in most Canon DSLRs, it has a Dioptric adjustment to make it easy for people with glasses to use the viewfinder. Also, you can preview depth of field. The dust deletion mechanism includes a software adjustment for removing/modifying the affected pixels, self-cleaning sensor, and manual cleaning.The ISO rating is 12,800 and it works fairly true to specifications. The video is a Full HD. The camera gives you the option to control the exposure and focus manually, has an external flash option, and does RAW processing. You would need the external flash at least for portraits. The LCD screen is very clear with a whopping 1,040,000 resolution. It can be tilted for easy viewing in awkward situations. The sustainable burst rate- for fast action- is 5.3 frames per second. The camera body weighs 755 grams.Compared to the Canon T5i, 60D has an older processor. It has the Digic 4; T5i has Digic 5. It is also heavier, has lower ISO rating, and the LCD screen does not have the touch features.On the other hand, the 60D has a more advanced autofocus system than the T5i and lower-end EOS cameras. Peripheral focus is an option, whereas with T5i, if a moving object goes out of the central area, it does not get zeroed in. 60D also has a more durable body with environmental seals for extended rugged use. It has the touch and feel of a professional camera.A good camera, but its traits are a bit dated for its category.

I am an amateur photographer. I have been one for 60 years. My latest methods of capturing the illusive image have beed the Canon 30D & 60D Digitals. Many years of shooting film have preceded these. What a great advancement digital. No film to run out of. No processing to deal with. Cheap fun and great results. Now the problems arises. I get home from a photo expedition and download my achievements to my laptop and see dark spots all over my "prints". What the ? Turns out to be a common problem with digital cameras. What to do? Google. "Clean the Sensor" they say. OK. Order a kit for $100+ and proceed to clean the sensor. Right. All I can manage to do is move dirt around or make it worst than it was. Clearly this task is beyond my humble abilities. I will send it to Canon and have it done "professionally". Right. The camera comes back and I anxiously head out for a day in the field. Get home, download.......WHAT? They have removed maybe 50% of the dirt and moved the remaining 50% to new locations. I now have two expensive camera bodies. Five quite expensive lens and am unable to take a decent photograph. Come on man! I have just ordered a new Canon SX50. My hope is that the dirt cannot find it's way to the sensor if the lens is not removable. Will it do what my array of previous equipment could do? No. I will especially miss my 10-22mm. In the great expanse of what is our American Southwest, it was a wonderful lens. One that cannot be replaced with even the best point & shoot. So this review is not so much a downplay on the 60D. It is a 5 Star, wonderful camera. It really is a generic problem. Just wish I could deal with it. Will the SX50 fix the problem? I honestly do not know. I certainly hope so. It is my last resort before going back to Kodachrome 25. Anyone have an F1 for sale?

I have been very happy with my 60Ds in the past, and wanted to get a back up camera for my wedding photography. Upon using the camera for the first time, and transferring the photos to my computer, I noticed that the first image number was number 4123! This means that someone (or multiple people) had used this particular camera, had taken 4122 photos with it, returned it, and now I purchased it with 4122 photos "on" the shutter. In other words, I paid for a new camera and got a used one!I immediately returned it.When you purchase a new camera, the first image should say (when transferred to your computer) img_0001, the next img_0002, etc.This has absolutely nothing to do with your memory card. It just shows how many "clicks" are on your shutter, in your camera. If you receive a camera that says anything other than img_0001 on your first photo taken, you have a used camera!I have a feeling that this is going on all the time, and people don't catch it (it happened to me with a few other cameras I purchased from Amazon...I returned all of them). Do not pay full price for a used camera! If you get a camera that is used I would return it and keep doing so until you get a new one. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I've bought other products refurbished and had great luck, so when I decided to purchase my first DSLR and was on a budget, I went for the factory refurbished Canon EOS 60D. I was not disappointed. The camera came in factory packaging, and is basically brand new, everything works flawlessly, and it has no blemishes whatsoever. Paired with a 18-135mm IS STM lens, I am able to take way better shots than my old point and shoot, and brings back the fun and challenge of when I was shooting my old film SLR. The flip out LCD screen is handy for camera positions where it would be difficult or impossible to view through the viewfinder. Having the digital settings display on top of the camera is a nifty feature as well, also handy for shots where you may not be able to use the viewfinder. I'd looked at the T3, T5i, and SLi, and while lying more within my price range, all felt cramped in my hands (big handed folks take note!), and they did not offer the more rugged construction of the 60D. While there were a few features that were appealing on the T-series cameras, I felt the 60D allows me some headroom for growth, without the expense of moving into the large format cameras.

I own a few camera including Canons 5d MkIII, Canon T2i and two GoPro Blacks. I use these all for action sport photography and video. This camera is my favorite to shoot photos with during the day due to its quick FPS and the articulating screen. The web is saturated with amazing reviews and detailed image and performance reviews so there is not much for me to say here.This camera has been in downpour rain a few times and has never made a hiccup. I have a Delkin rubber case over the body and it adds extra protection against the elements and has kept this camera running when others gave up. I have been looking at the 70d for a future purchase but until this guy gives up then there is no reason it is a work horse. I have over 95,000 shutter actuations and it works as good as the day I purchased it.

Okay, I am a very proud aunt and when it came for me to buy a camera that would be good for a beginner, I called my niece. She is a very amazing and successful photography owner of My 4 Hens Photography (yes I am a shamelessly proud Auntie). She told me that this was the first camera she used when she started. I asked my niece about it and she recommended that I read the book (she said I may need to read it several times). I did and I actually like to manually focus my pictures. The only problem is that I don't use it enough so I lose what I learn. I suggest if you are going to invest in a camera, this is beyond wonderful but you have to read the book that comes with it and don't be like me. Use it and enjoy it! It actually takes very professional pictures and if you are planning on starting a career or just using it for fun, I highly recommend this Canon EOS 60D!

I had some bad luck with the first camera received from Amazon, which was defective .... and I'm wondering how's possible for such an expensive item to pass the Canon QC tests.Review for Amazon.com: I would like to say something here about Amazon.com because of my experience with the Customer Service Department. As I said above, the first camera was defective, so I requested a replacement. Amazon.com analyzed and solved my request VERY VERY fast and a new camera has been sent overnight. Here is where I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Amazon.com, because I made a mistake (so my fault 100%) and Amazon.com fixed the problem for me, again, even if it was my fault, telling me that the only goal for them is to make me happy. Now... this is what I would name REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! This is why I give Amazon.com 6 (six) stars out of 5!!! THANK YOU Amazon and please give a bonus to the Customer Service Reps.!

As someone who has now had the opportunity to use all three of Canon's mid-range lineup (the T2i, 60D, and 7D), I have to say that I really like the feel of the 60D. Even though it no longer has the magnesium alloy body, it feels solid. In no way does it feel cheap. I have fairly small hands and the 60D feels like it was made for me. It's significantly lighter than the 7D and feels like it would be much more friendly on long hikes. The 7D feels much more robust; however, the 60D feels much more "comfy". It is definitely bigger in size than the T2i, but the angles and design of the camera have a nicely updated feel to them that makes it seem like you are getting a much more substantial camera. The articulating screen was also done very well. My initial worries that the screen would feel cheap and break easily were immediately relieved after using it. The hinges are very solid and feel almost stiff to the point where you are comfortable with it staying right where you want it. It also is very flush with the rest of the body and offers little space in between.

I purchased this as my back-up camera and use it almost daily. As a professional photographer I need to be able to grab my gear and go when a situation presents itself. This camera is reliable, great on battery consumption, fits nicely in my hands, and is compatible with my lenses.It can shoot HQ video as well as still images, and the menu interface is pretty intuitive.I would recommend this camera for any professional photographer (it shoots up to 18 mp), or any advanced amateur photographer.Too many bells and whistles for beginners, although you can use it in full auto mode if you like.

After a lot of research and based on my budget I went with the 60D, previous camera I had was a rebel from 2003 that actually died in like 2010... So I hadn't bought any other DSLR in the meantime except point and shoot cameras that died very fast... SO far this camera hasn't disappoint. I have a friend that owns a T3i and I have to say that the feel and the menus and buttons alone make this camera worth it. Just got a 50mm 1.8 (because nobody can afford not to have this lens) unless you can afford the 1.4 or the 1.2 of course... and the pictures are amazing... Hope this helps...

I purchased a Canon EOS in August of 2013. I used it for several photo shoots and it seemed fine. On December, 9th to my embarrassment, as I was getting set up for a shoot and began to shoot the camera began making loud noises and the shutter button would not work. I tried a few times and got the same result. I apologized to my client and immediately called Amazon very upset but became even more upset when they initially informed me of this companies no return policy. I was devastated at wasting over $500.00. Luckily, Amazon is an upstanding company and they refunded me the entire amount. Amazon gets a five stAr rating! but the company that sold defective company gets zero stars???oh wait I have to give them at least one. I have since purchased the same model new from Best Buy with a warranty for a better price! Buyer beware.

If you are a professional you would only need this camera if you wanted to do super telephoto photography (because of the 1.6 crop). Even still, you would be hard pressed not to get a full frame. If I had the money I would never settle for a cropped sensor. There really isn't anything to explain other then that the sensor is physically smaller. That really does make a difference if you are obsessed with quality. Also if you love wide angle work you should really consider getting a 5d.That said the 60D is a solid piece of camera. The screen is very useful and it is built well. The design is classic canon (in terms of usability) and I think it has pretty good noise control. I wouldn't take serious photos over iso 1600 but 3200 can be useful still. I really gotta say I do love it. One day I'll upgrade to full frame.

This was my first entry to a professional camera after suffering for several years with the lower end models. Since it's new to me and all the functions, understanding and using them all is my task. However, I'm up to it and for now, I love using this camera. Out of the box, everything was in great shape and all has functioned well. I opted for the 60D over the 70D because of price but as I get accustomed to all it's features, I'll be better able to make a comparison. At this point, you won't be disappointed.

To be clear up-front, the 1-star rating is not for the 60D camera (it is an excellent camera and I am satisfied with the performance of 60D + EFS-15-85 IS USM lens when I got the right item), but for the terrible experience I had with Amazon.I paid for a new EOS 60D body ($699) on the Amazon website on Feb. 10 and two days later received an USED 60D body in a brand new Canon box. This 60D body and other items (EFS 15-85 lens, lens hood, and SanDisk memory card) were shipped from Amazon warehouse in Kentucky. The serial number at the bottom of the camera body (167102887) is different from that is printed on the camera box and warrantee card (2821413097), a clear evidence that an USED / refurbished camera was shipped in a new box for the price of a new one. There are many scratches and fingerprints all over the camera body, especially on the LCD screens, around the tripod-mount slot, and inside the battery compartment. The lens-mount is spotted and scratched from previous use, and the sensor is v-e-r-y dirty/dusty, as one can easily see it through the viewfinder. The accessories, especially battery that came in the box were also used items. So the question is: what happened to the camera with the same serial number as on the box and vice-versa and how did an USED camera get into another box, which it did not belong to?Now, Amazon did replace the original (used) camera immediately and the replacement arrived (shipped from Orlando) in pristine condition with matching serial numbers. They also offered a $100 store-card, part of which I spent on a B+W MRC filter (a $50 item). Shockingly, the filter that I received was also used/damaged. The tamper-proof seal of the box is broken and scratched.I hope Amazon accepts the fact and publish the review and clean up the mess.

If you are like me (I mean an amateur photographer with some knowledge) this is the perfect camera for you.For some reason I started to explore the photography world with the Canon series. Is that kind of decision in which luck prevails over reason.Let's face it: either Nikon or Canon can give you the best image experience (i'm just mentioning the two major competitors, not giving less importance to the rest).My first camera was a Canon EOS Rebel XS, after a while I decided to move on to a Canon EOS T3 (sorry that I include "EOS" in every single sentence, it's the force of habit).Even the experience was pretty good, deep inside I felt that was time to explore this hobby in a more professional so I took the next step: the Canon EOS 60D.It's impressive the many additional details that you can find on it that are not available in the lower series.The commands are very well located allowing me to take full control without taking my eye away from my target through my lens.The buttons for the ISO control, drive mode, focus and metering on the top give you full control. The LCD on top is very helpful and the LCD viewer screen is handy for long exposures, even the 2 dials (the main and .. well the other) provide a better control and speed.All these details give you an additional pleasure everytime you carry your camera with you.I'm happy, what else can I say?

The 60D is a wonderful camera for me. I've had the 40D for a number of years and enjoyed the quality of photos it took. The 60D is an upgrade, and it's exciting to be able to shoot video. I am still learning to use the manual settings. This camera allows me to experiment and refine my skills.

The Canon 60D was released as a follow on to the Canon 50D, and as part of the "prosumer" or "semi-pro" line would be expected to have higher end features not found on the Rebel line of digital SLRs. In some cases I think Canon made wise choices with the 60D - for example going to an all-plastic body (as opposed to the magnesium body of the 50D) enabled Canon to decrease the size and weight of the 60D while still having a solid tough camera.Unfortunately there is one glaring omission from the feature line of the 60D, which is called microfocus adjust (MFA). MFA allows the user to slightly calibrate the focusing of their individual lenses with the camera. In many cases MFA for a specific lens / camera combination is not needed, but occasionally the user will get much sharper pictures by setting up MFA for a specific lens / camera combo. For instance with my current Canon 7D most of my lenses require little or no MFA, but one requires a fairly large adjustment of -7 to function optimally.With the 60D, users may find the certain lenses just don't producer sharp pictures. And without MFA, the user is unable to find out if a simple MFA adjustment would correct the problem. As such, I'm not impressed with the 60D as a prosumer / semipro camera. If you just want a nice DSLR you can save money and get a Canon EOS REBEL T4i 18.0 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 3-inch Touchscreen and Full HD Movie Mode (Body Only). If you want a true prosumer DSLR you best bet at the moment is to actually get a used Canon 50D or upgrade to the Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Body Only).Note: the 60D's price has dropped dramatically recently, making it an easy choice over the t4i. Note that the upcoming replacement (rumored to be called the 70D) could add MFA back in to its list of features.

I went this before I went to China for 6 months. I used it regularly for my fledgling photography business. It's held up to abuse (I even dropped it from 6 feet up onto the Great Wall of China and it just got a tiny ding). I like the size and love the video. You can also "jail break" it to access more of the power it has. A great intermediate camera and I can't say enough good things about it.

I had an eos and this is far superior body, and I have found that buying pieces of a camera set ,may be a little more expensive in the beginning ,but I feel you make out in the long run

It may not be the latest or the lightest but it is very predictable and fairly easy to use and the pictures are great. The video capabilities make it the perfect grandpa camera, perfect for me. I would recommend this camera to anyone who really wants a high quality dslr at a price that has become much more reasonable in the last year. I really like, love, whatever, this camera and it replaced the old Canon, EOS Rebel Digital, perfectly. Perfect is a word that I find perfect when describing this camera.

I bought this in a 18-135 lens kit package. after I received it, I found that the seal label of outer box did not show up. and battery ships with camera was not charged. even 1 little small energy to open up the camera. so I go back to Amazon CS and verify what's going on here. normally I found every single package has one seal label on outer box to make sure that you bought this as brand new. Amazon CS was kind to send me the contact info of US Canon. and I sent a email to ask them why. and they said there was no seal label on the outer box. the reason of this is because retailer may check all the things in box and make sure they are perfect functional. and if they have some kind of promotion, they may need to put some memory card into box as a gift. and battery issue is battery may or may not have charge, this will depend on how long this kit being kept in retailer's warehouse. so no worries. after battery charged, everything is perfect. I love this camera. thanks Amazon
