I bought 2 of these to run in raid 0 and these things deleiver the goods. I just noticed some people where giving amazon bad marks for packaging but my two drives where in their own box packed between a couple of nice peices of foam and the placed in the shipping box with some air bubbles. I don't know how it could of got any better.

This is very similar to the cavier green which i have absolutely no problems with (the black is my 3rd cavier). It is very quiet when noise is a big factor in buying hdds. amazon is seriously fast with the shipping...it was suppose to come tomorrow but came today with 2-day prime. don't even bother comparing this to the pos seagates, their hdds are just a pain in the a**. buy this today!

Having trouble deciding between the green and the black? I went with the black and they are not that loud at all. I am experiencing great performance and these drives appear to be just as advertised. I think the reliable Western Digital drives are finally back on the shelves...way to go WD!!

I am a professional data specialist so another need for data backup was needed and this did the job and then some. It's a little loud during IO operations, but I don't have constant data going to it so it stays quiet.

Great packaging using a double-box method. The drive was packaged in thick foam and boxed. Then that box was further boxed and padded with air bags. Amazon definitely alleviated my fears about shipping.I feel silly reviewing the drive when I haven't even installed it yet, but I just had to comment about the awesome shipping. As far as the drive... I'm sure it will be everything I expected. You'll hear back if it isn't.

I was looking for two affordable, high-capacity drives to run in RAID formation 0 (mirroring) to backup vast amounts of sensitive material. Needless to say, this drive was outstanding in all regards... and had a price per GB that can't be beat (maybe a few 750GB could, but the premium over the 750s for a 1TB is marginal). I highly recommend these drives! No failures in over two months with sustained read/write rates between 50-80mb/s depending on the device being transferred to.

Spend the extra $10 and buy this great drive from a vendor that knows how to ship a hard drive. Amazon shipped this drive in a box with one small piece of brown paper fill, with that box free bouncing in another larger box. I was 100% sure this drive would be DOA after the ride it had, but a big thumbs up to Western Digital, it worked just fine! Quiet, cool and BIG, this drive is great! Amazon on the other hand should be ashamed, buy elsewhere.

I bought two of these to use in a RAID O setup in my new Mac Pro and my system is zipping along nicely. The drives are louder than some of the competition but the speed, 32MB cache and price are unbeatable.

works great in my mac pro machine, 32mb cache loads everything speedy and efficiently. read/writes quiet.. kudos on the great packing amazon provided, solid and safe.. removed my noisy seagate for this super drive.. recommended for all mac pro developers and users..

Very nice and fast disk, my boot up time improved a lot, the 32mb of cache are an advantage, I think that I made a great buy. I recommend this. and Amazon was great delivering super fast and on time. for me the best store on planet! Very low prices and quality products always. I like the way they take care of costumers.Thanks a lot!!!.

This drive is fast and quiet. I hooked it to my MSI (Intel P35 chipset) motherboard with E8400 CPU, and then loaded 64bit Vista without any problem. Installation was as simple as plug and play. The longer warranty term is also a plus. :)Bulk/OEM package = bare drive only, sata cable and mounting screws are not supplied.

I replaced my old 250 GB Maxtor hard drive (it died) in my iMac G5 Rev B. The new hard drive is much faster than the old one, which is a welcome change. However, it does seem to be louder than the old hard drive. I can hear it when searching for files.Overall, it does what it needs to do and I would recommend it. Although, the 1 TB drives may not be that much more expensive.

This is one great hard drive - fast and quiet, and at an outstanding price. Apparently the packing concerns have been addressed. Mine arrived two days after I ordered it and was double boxed with the drive completely surrounded with foam pads in the second box. I now have two of these drives set up as a RAID. Sweet!

Bought this and Seagate 1.5tb. Seagate problems, even though it said no need to update the one I purchased. This drive is quieter, faster and stable. Recommended. Packaging should not be an issue for those that posted issues as it plainly states OEM Drive which means no fluff, cables or anything. Put this in the Antec MX-1 enclosure and very quiet, cool backup and media storage.

I brought hard drive as a backup drive, and the first one that was sent out died after about a week. Amazon was great and quickly replaced it and so far it's been working great.

It's OEM - so if opened computer case makes you sweat - don't buy it. Other than that - guess it's good price/volume/noise drive. Check on newegg while bying (they can have better pricing).

Purchased two of these for a RAID 0 Array and I am impressed by the speed(avg transfer around 200MB/s in RAID). Almost silent.

So far I have 3 of these drives. No issues with the drives themselves. Only issue is Amazon's packaging of the last shipment. It was not well protected. Earlier shipments Amazon made sure it was protected.

This was a great deal with shipping. The drive is quiet, easy to set up and get running. I am using it in my NMT, easy plug and play. Highly recommend this drive.

I upgraded my old hard drive and the difference in speed is amazing (thanks mostly to 320GB/platter technology). It's also quiet, at least compared to my old drive.

I bought 2 of these and they work fine and are quiet. I did not give them 5 stars for two reasons. 1) I really haven't had them long enough to speak for longevity. 2) They are more expensive than other drives on the market.

I've just finished installing a group of these in RAID configuration, and am happy to report that they are fast, quiet, and cool. Really a great balance of performance, capacity and security. Western Digital seems to be on a roll lately, with lots of innovative products.I agree with the review that states that Amazon needs to be specific about whether computer parts are OEM. OEM equipment often does not carry the warranty that consumer equipment does, and I personally have seen too many OEM drives fail... I now buy only retail drives. OEM drives aren't tested as thoroughly... they leave that up to the builder.

I have three of them now and they are fast, quiet and big. So far no reliability problem. Easy to get going. Shock resistant. Price good too. WD id good to deal with in the event of a problem too.

I purchased 2 of these drives from Amazon.com to replace some older, much smaller drives in my desktop. They arrived in excellent shape, both worked perfectly, and all at a good price (I did shop around quite a bit).

I bought 2 of these directly from Amazon. They looked fine until I installed them in my system. They came up as 80GB Maxtor drives rather than 1TB Western Digital drives. The stickers on the top of the drive say Western Digital 1TB but the electronics board on the bottom of the drive says Maxtor. There's been an obvious mixup here, probably at the factory.Amazon is replacing the drives with new ones. I hope I don't get the same...

If your are having trouble using a eSata expanded drive with DirecTv, this is your baby. Slip it into an Atec MX-1 enclosure and plug it into the back of the HDDvr and take yourself an extended vacation and when you come home all your preferred programs will be waiting on you. Lots of hours available to record you favorite shows.

Purchased/Installed drive in August 08, it died in January 09.Thankfully this was the second drive in this system and the rest of the system is operating fine.Very disappointed. I do not recommend this drive. I recommend that you do homework before purchasing.

This is a GREAT hard drive! (But be aware that it does not come as a "Plug-n-Play". It has to be formated.)
