I own a late 2009 MacBook which started having poor performance end of last year (only 2 years of use). Everything about it was just slow and sluggish. After doing a little research, it sounded like other people who had similar problems suggested that it could either be corrupted HD or broken SATA cable. I assumed it was problem one and found this HD. It arrived about a week after I ordered it. Replacing the HD was very easy. After installing Snow Leopard back on, my MacBook is running faster than it was before with the 5400 RPM stock HD! Very happy with the result!

Installed this HD in my 2.66 GHz Core i7 MacBook Pro today. Honestly, it feels like a new computer. The difference is huge in the responsiveness of my machine. I was having a lot issues with handling large Photoshop files from my Medium Format negative scans, and now those issues are much more subdued. I'm working with images are about 1 GB in size during editing, which was becoming very cumbersome with my old 5400 RPM HD that came from the factory. Now I can work with them with some haste. It is by no means instant, but the difference is pretty large. Definitely worth the cash. Once I grab 8GB of ram this week, my year old MacBook Pro will really fly!

I installed this hard drive in my X200T Laptop Dock. It works well. I haven't had any vibration problems or issues with the Advanced Format. So far, I highly recommend it!

No real complaints, except the usual; formatted size is less than advertised. I know this is the usual case (due to the fact that 1 MB = 1024 bytes, not 1000)... but SOME hard drive manufacturers sell drives in which the actual formatted size is as advertised. I wish they all would.Speed is good (I despise standard 5400 rpm drives, so 7200 is great), and it's quiet enough.This was a replacement for a failed laptop drive, and client is happy with extra size and extra speed. I usually prefer Seagate drives, but so far so good with this WD drive.

I got this hard drive as an upgrade for my notebook. Super easy to install and runs quiet and quicker than my old hard drive. Can't go wrong with Western Digital.

upgraded the small 16oHD. took 20min and now i never have to worry about space. I dont notice much noise with the higher 7200rpm. wish i had done this upgrade sooner.

Installed this drive on a mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13 inch about two weeks ago. It took less than ten minutes from start to finish, including installing new RAM. Mounting screws need to be removed from old drive and installed on the new one. It does run very hot if used as a "lap"top, and battery power is noticeably affected. But otherwise seamless and glitch-free.

I've swapped this into my MB pro. It's replacing a smaller 5400rpm drive. It's noticeably faster, but also noticeably louder than the original toshiba drive. The laptop was nearly silent before, and now I'm aware of a little noise. Not totally a deal breaker for me, but it has given me a whole new appreciation of Apples quality control.

I've always had pretty good luck with Western Digital drives, and this one is no exception. I bought 4 of these to upgrade an old computer, install in a new computer, and use 2 as backup. None of the drives arrived DOA and all passed error checks. The 500 GB capacity is more than enough for the operating system, dozens of programs and games, and large amounts of pictures and music. The Advanced Format feature of the drive requires WD Align for installations of versions of Windows prior to Windows 7, or for clones of any operating system. Also, if cloning a drive with Windows from a non-AF drive to this drive, you need to install a patch available from Microsoft. This 2.5" drive also has slightly faster transfer speeds compared to WD 3.5" 7200 RPM SATA II hard drives. Overall, this is a great investment.

I bought this HD to change the 160 GB one in my Macbook Pro. Not only I have more space but also the performance of the Mac has increased considerably (I also incremented the RAM, so I don't know exactly how much it increases). The drawback it that it is a little bit noisy, and as it works at 7200 rpm, I think it uses more battery power.

Replaced the stock HDD from a 2008 Mac Book Pro (non-unibody). The performance is much better now. The startup times (for both the OS as well as applications) has significantly improved. It has not failed in the last 6 months of usage.Good deal in my book.

I got this drive to install in the Micca Slim HD media reader. The media reader manual said any 2.5 inch SATA drive would work. This one didn't. I went to Micca's website and in the FAQs it said not to use a 7200RPM drive because the media reader might not have enough power for it to work. Now you tell me. Micca's bad. So be careful and make sure you will not have a similar issue for your application.I'll hang on to the drive; it seems to be of high quality and hopefully I can use it for something else. 5 stars for the packaging, for sure.

Even if you have to pay a few more bucks for the equivalent Seagate, do it, Western Digital has broken on me twice and it only lasted 2-3 months everytime!

I install the drive on my ps3 it work but you have to do a long process to install it and look for many solution on different website so you got to be patient but its worth the result. Good luck.

This is a VERY NICE hard drive. I have been in the computer business for 21 years, that's why I bought this one. :-) Then, I bought another. :-) I upgraded a laptop for my daughters boyfriend.

I bought this drive for a friend to replace the drive that was ruined when his child pulled the computer off a table. The drive in the computer was a WD Scorpio Blue 320 GB with a 5400 RPM spindle speed. My friend has commented that the computer seems to boot faster and is more responsive when loading programs, web pages and so on. So far it is a great drive. Highly recommended over the WD Scorpio Blue drive.
