Got this for my parents for xmas. The wireless router they have wasn't powerful enough going through a big house. This took me 5-10 mins to setup. Piece of cake. Tested out on laptop and he noticed a huge increase in speed while uploading a video on youtube. Signal was strong upstairs as well.Update: After installing this router at my parents house and they noticed big improvements, I went ahead and purchased one to replace my belkin router. I noticed the Belkin was dropping the connection to my phone and was slow so I purchased this at the Amazon Warehouse as "Very Good" to save $6. Didn't even seem like it was used. Very happy!Update 1/6/12: No drop connections. I get my emails instantly via Yahoo app on galaxy 3. Very fast & no complaints

The TP-Link TL-WR841N is a good wireless router for a good price. Key benefits:* Thanks to its large antennas and configurable power level, it offers much better coverage than the more expensive Medialink 802.11n router (Medialink - Wireless N Router - 802.11n - 150 Mbps - 2.4 Ghz - NEW Design w/ Internal Antenna) that we were previously using. We now get full-house network coverage, whereas half the house had very poor connectivity with the Medialink unit.(!) One thing to look out for is a powerful wifi router can interfere with a weak cable internet signal. If you're using high power mode and can't access the internet, try switching to medium or low power, or moving the router further away from your cable modem and cable line. I also found that using a higher wifi channel number (e.g., 11, the highest authorized in the US) causes less interference. In the end, I just moved the cable modem and router to a different cable outlet much closer to the cable connection to the house to get a stronger cable signal.* The web-based configuration menus offer a lot of useful options. Each configuration page includes documentation on the right hand side. This is a lot easier than looking things up in a separate manual or online (especially if your internet connection isn't working!).* Bonus: Includes WDS support, to allow the router to act as a repeater for another wifi router (sometimes called a "signal booster"). However I wasn't able to properly configure WDS, because the only wifi network I could connect to was my neighbor's, and they use the Medialink 802.11n router with WPA2 enabled (WDS isn't standardized, so it generally doesn't work with WPA2 between different brand devices). For what it's worth, I wasn't able to get Netgear or Belkin WDS wifi repeaters to work with my neighbor's WPA2 network, either, so this is another strike against Medialink, not TP-Link.* The physical enclosure has a simple design and feels solid.

The price is right and the range is great. If you're looking for a wireless router then this is a good one to consider. The directions that are included are a bit suspect. Even though my instructions said differently, you will have to run the CD before connecting to outlet or computer for it to work. However, once I figured that part out it worked perfectly. I will recommend this one to everyone.

Upgraded to this router because my old one was combined within the older Motorola Surfboard Modem being replaced by a faster modem. I had issues installing. I had to use older WEP security due to some older devices that are linked to the network (which do not support WPA). Finally I traced down the problem. The security code generated by the installation software was all in CAPS. This causes a problem where the code is not read correctly. Generating your own mix of caps and lower case creates a correct key that works. After this easy fix, everything went forward flawlessly and the problem at the final verify configure step went away. Hope this helps anyone hitting the same error, setting this up as a WEP secured network. The router works great, strong signal and fast. Great value.

I looked over hundreds of reviews for so many routers and finally decided to purchase this router based on my experience with other tp-link products and the positive reviews for similar routers. the price on this router($38)is a real bargain. Setup was a breeze using the disc. set it up with my pc laptop for use with my wireless imac and it works excellent. There is no usb port on this so if you need that get the wr1043nd. it has been a month now and i have not had a single issue, no reboots, no loss of connection, just fast reliable internet.Update: It has been several months now and I have not had a single issue with this router. no disconnects, no reboots necessary, no problems at all. In fact I just purchased another one, but not from Amazon because they raised the price while it was in my cart, thank you Adorama.com for a great price on this excellent unit. I read that this item is discontinued, I am guessing because it is too reliable. Get it now before it is too late.

As I am not tech literate I had trouble getting this to work. I called the help phone number. My standard first statement is always "you will need to speak up because I am partially deaf", because I can never hear or understand what is being said. This also helps when I constantly say "can you repeat that". With that being said the service rep walked me through the set up in less than 5 minutes, the thing worked great and haven't touched it since. What's not to like?

This router works great.And, installation is real easy, IF you are smart enough to write down the security code located on the s/n sticker on the bottom of the unit. You will need to enter this number in a text-box when you search for a wireless connection for each pc. The pc won't recognize the signal without this number entered into the text box.I had to call customer service. The gal was patient and helpful. There was a small language issue, but I am pretty used to it now so we repeated our questions/comments until we understood each other.Once you enter the security code it takes off and finishes the install on it's own. You'll be amazed at how much faster "n" is than "g". Great price and free shipping at Amazon.

I was looking for an affordable, easy to set up router to set up a wireless network for my Android tablet while using cable internet for my PC at home. I didn't want to pay a fortune for one but, of course I wanted one, which would work. I read many reviews and looked in many places. I settled on this router because of the price and it looked as if fit my needs. It took me (15) mins to set up. I get a wireless signal the length of my trailer in every room and around my property. It hasn't dropped a signal once so far. Can't ask for more.

This thing works great. It supports "N" wifi, the range is ok in a one bedroom house. If you've ever installed a router before it'll take you 5 mins to set it up. Comes with a pretty decent web interface and a helper CD. Since I just received it a week ago I can't comment on longevity, but if I get a year or two out of this I'll be happy..

After not receiving great transmission to a TV in my living room (router is an office 70 feet away) I contacted customer service and after working my way through interpreting very broken English the problem was fixed. The Routers automatic Channel selector apparently was getting hung up on bad channels. I set the router on one channel and it has been working fine. I was about to return this router but now I am happy that I didn't.

Got this about a week and half ago. Ive had 0 problems. First thing i did was update the firmware before setting up or changing any settings. havent had to reset this once yet? Super Fast! This router has bandwidth control, unlike linksys and netgear, you can actually assign a limit for a device to get. I tested it out and it works flawlessly. Good to control kids or users from not using all of your bandwidth if you dont have a lot to use.

I am new in this kind of stuff, I mean, wireless. Before I buy it I have read so many reviews about pros and contras, on this page we have many brands and features, but TP Link does the work. We bought this device for home uses, 2 Laptops, 1 desktop, table, smartphones and CCTV...no regrets. We are online everyday and every time. The Setup is easy and fast, even for me, I am a rookie. The images on the mobile phone looks like real time. My friend uses a router 150 mbps and believe me, is seems slow motion. Thank u amazon, the seller and TP link.

I am not technologically inclined. When I got this home, I had my phone handy to call my super-geek friend because I assumed that I wouldn't understand the instructions and/or something would go wrong. I anticipated a lot of foul language on my part as well.I was pleasantly surprised (make that really, really happy) that I was able to hook this up by myself and it actually worked!I have not had any problems with it at all!I would definitely recommend this for anyone who isn't high tech.

Everything I run though this seems to work just fine. PC and PS3 via the Ethernet ports and Iphone, Nook and netbook via the Wifi. Every once and awhile it will go through a phase where I need to reset it. I am not sure if that is the fault of the unit or something to do with my cable provider. It may be months before it needs reset and then I might need to reset it a couple times a day for a day or two.The range seems decent to me. Its on the 3rd floor and I can be outside and 40 feet away from the building and still get WiFi on my phone.

Bast value for the money. Not much to say. It did everythig I needed and super easy to set-up. Use it at my office and everything connected super easy and secure: wirless printer, cell phone (wi-fi), Nexus 7 (and i stream slacker constantly with out hiccup) So easy I ordered one for my daughter and she had it up and running and works so well she already forgot about it..;-)

I found this product to be very easy to setup and use. The speed is only limited by the poor quality of service from Comcast but the router works great with almost no lag between devices hooked up to. I use both the wireless and the LAN wire cable to a computer and I get good signal through walls and about 50ft away. The signal does degrade some starting about 25ft and falls off quickly, but again this is through the wall.

VERY unstable signal strength caused me numerous bandwidth issues. Tried different channels, different settings and even tried unplugging ALL possible causes of signal interference but nothing helped. Last straw was when I confirmed signal problems still existed with laptop LESS THAN 1 FOOT from router. Returned for full refund and will never buy from this company again.

Considering the other reviews, I was very excited to replace my (dead) Belkin G router with this little dude. Unfortunately, it just didn't measure up to expectations. The Belkin was easier to setup and had a LOT more range, which is one of the main reasons I bought the TP-Link router. Apart from that, setup was fairly easy and the unit works pretty well. For the money, I give it four stars. For the actual use and performance for my specific needs, three stars. It's not bad...it's just not totally awesome either. It's a good value for basic wireless home networking.

I purchased this router along with the TP-Link NT TD-8616 modem because I was having trouble with the at&t 2wire modem/router. It provides much better range and speed than the 2wire modem/router. I live in a separate game room about 40 feet from the router in a metal building so my wireless signal was very weak and slow. The metal building really weakens wireless signal. After setting up this router, I now have 3 to 4 bars of wireless signal compared to 1 to 2 bars with the 2wire modem/router. In summary, this router provides good range and internet speed.NOTE: This is only a router. You must purchase a separate modem.

This inexpensive router seems to work just fine for my needs. I have 3 wired desktops plugged into it, 4 laptops that use the wireless function, as well as one Kindle and one iPad that connect wirelessly. I have high speed internet (download speed 1.2 MB per second) and the router handles it just fine. Haven't seen a problem since purchasing it a month ago.The signal strength is not amazing but not bad. I can get signal from the farthest corner of my house or in closed bedrooms. Not strong but enough to surf with.So, for average household use, this router should be sufficient.

I've had it for 4 days, and I've already restarted it 4 times. The signal range is good (not great), but when far from the base, you lose a lot of speed and connection. Me and my wife use are iPad and galaxy tab, and the Concepcion is pretty intermittent. She has to place the security pass. Every time, the laptop doesn't save it either.I've had many routers, and so far this is the worst.

I bought this bugger based on fairly good reviews I read on internet and thinking that I should give a chance to new entrants in this market (TP-Link). It was by far the worst wireless router I've ever got since the signal strength all over the house was reduced (don't be fooled by the two antennas) and the most annoying fact was that I had to power cycle the unit at least once a day since it was loosing wireless connection with my laptop. Of course, I did the firmware upgrade but for no avail.So back to the big boys (D-Link in my case)

This is a piece of garbage.Let me humbly say- I am very tech savvy. I used to build computers, I've setup office networks and use advanced computer programs on a daily basis. That being said, this router is possibly the most difficult piece of equipment I've ever operated.Had limited use on my PC.-No use on my mac.A wifi router should be quick and easy to use with no extensive setup. This router is the opposite of easy.Returned this and got a - Belkin N300 Wireless N Router - Belkin works great.You will pay a little more for the Belkin but it will save you hours of frustration.If I could give everyone who's thinking of buying this router the extra $13 to buy the Belkin, I would.It would be like saving the world a little.

I installed one of these for a client whose office is in an old Chicago home with plaster-on-wood-studs interior walls. Setup was a snap, and performance for both the computer, which is in the same room, and her Roku Internet TV adapter, which is several rooms away, is terrific. I haven't run any scientific tests, but a throughput test run using [...] produced results that were almost as good as when I connected the computer directly to the customer's cable modem. This is a basic router, so don't go looking for a particularly advanced firewall or support for QoS, but it does offer a few advanced features, such as the ability to reserve an IP address within the DHCP range for a particular device.
