I'm a neophyte when it comes to Wi-Fi, so I wanted something truly plug & play. I'm also always interested in a bargain & don't need the $100+ routers with bells & whistles I won't understand, don't need & will never use. I'm not setting up a network or running a biz... I just want to walk around my house with my laptop when listening to an online chat show or YouTube clip. This TP-Link did the trick & was easy. I must admit that I needed to do research for a day first, to read up on what I needed & to understand the tech words I might come across. If new to Wi-Fi, I'd suggest to do that anyway. I went to one of the big box office supply stores & they sold me the wrong equipment twice... so, I decided to just go online, read, research & purchase & install it myself.I had a few hits & misses, but the day of researching first helped me in the sense that I knew where to go to find answers, like online message boards. To anyone with even a bit of Wi-Fi experience, you'll set this up in 15-30 min. For someone brand new like me, well, it took a few hours because I misunderstood a couple of steps & was afraid to proceed until I researched more & understood exactly which direction to take. Honestly, looking back, it was easy... it was just my first time through & I had no idea what wireless was before setting this up myself. For the low, low price, for me, it's the way to go. For newbies, I'll say, remember there are 2 passwords needed to protect your connection, so go through the user's manual. It's all in the directions, which by the way, are not included beyond Easy Start Up instructions. You'll need to find the free user's manual with a simple browser search & read through it.Since I've been through it once, I could easily set this up in 30-min for someone else. I have had no problems with it & it's been 1-mo now. Some online techies with good intentions warned me about buying a cheaper router. I don't see why. For my simple purposes, it's been great & I'm glad I went with one of the cheapest routers out there with very good reviews.

If your needs are basic and don't know anything about networking, etc., ignore this review and consider this a recommendation. For most people, this unit will probably suit your purposes as it's designed for basic users and it seems to work as such in the few hours I've used it.My needs are more advanced, however, and for me this unit, by itself, was inadequate. I created a work-around, however, but I would be very frustrated if I didn't know what I was doing or didn't have the extra equipment on hand.I needed to add a wireless connection to my LAN for my new Kindle Fire (recommended!). I wanted to put the WR841ND in my living room where I also need wired connections for my Xbox, Tivo and WDTV digital media devices. The cat5 connections in the back of the WR841ND seemed to be the ticket. The one cat5 wire that runs into my living room for all these things comes from my "main" router in my home office, which is then connected to the cable modem. In the living room, I currently have a switch splitting the wire to my 3 devices.I need my living room's Xbox and WDTV to connect to the PCs in my office to stream media (music and video) saved on those PCs. Conversely, I need to be able to access my Tivo from my PC to download its videos. But basically, the 841ND does NOT allow you to simply do this. The Linksys and Belkin wireless routers I've used have options to use their units as pass-through devices, basically, and to ignore the router feature. A router creates a new subnet for those devices connected to it. But I already have a router. The WR841ND can't be set to not be a router. It wants to "own" the network. So my Tivo, Xbox and WDTV devices were unable to connect to my other PCs to stream media. These devices *were* able to connect to the Internet, and my kindle fire works like a champ as well, but the connection to the other "side" of my LAN was unreachable. The only working solution I found was to reconnect the switch I was using and plug the WR841ND into it along with the Tivo, Xbox, WDTV.So now the WR841ND's cat5 receptacles are unused, and I'm using one extra networking device that I really didn't want, but, it works. For the price, I suppose, it's still not bad to just be a wireless router, and for that, it seems to work well.PS 1) I found the web browser interface menus used javascript which didn't work on my version of Firefox but did work on Internet Explorer.PS 2) If I put all zeros into the router, and then set the LAN settings to match my office LAN, perhaps this would have worked the way I wanted it to? Doubtful.PS 3) The lights on the top of the unit make for a nice picture on the box, but functionally they're useless unless you're looking down on the thing, or tilt it up, you can't see what's going on. I really don't want to look at this.

Bought this on sale for twenty bucks and am pleasantly surprised that it was so easy to set up and has worked well right out of the box. It has very good range with its 5dB antennas even up on my second floor, and I am not getting any drops and haven't needed to reset it.Setting up security on several PC's, a Nexus 7, and some Powerline adapters took just a few minutes. The Easy Setup CD is detailed and makes installation almost foolproof. I had some old non scratch felt sticky feet left over in the drawer so I added them onto the bottom as the factory feet only raised the unit about 1/16", and now it is raised about a 1/4" and that allows for better airflow. The unit runs cool and I haven't had any hiccups so far.The less expensive TL-WR841N is identical except for the removable antennas. Unless you already had some high gain antennas hanging around it doesn't make much sense to go out and spend more than what the router costs. I don't know for certain that you can't load DD-WRT or Tomato onto this, but it isn't supported by the manufacturer and the standard firmware is easy enough to traverse and works quite well. For a budget friendly router this has performed quite well and was a breeze to install. The only question I have is whether a WiFi router priced at this level will hold up for a few years. I also have some TP-Link nano Powerline adapters and a TL-WDN4800 wireless card and they all have worked great without any problems, although they all are less than a year old.

I am really impressed with this router and I am very pleased with this purchase especially at this price!I wanted a low-cost replacement and got tired of spending a lot of money for routers that worked "okay". I have owned three Linksys routers: BEFW11S, WRT54G and WRT54GS; all had problems requiring constant physical reboots at least every day (even with DD-WRT isntalled). Eventually replaced these with an Airport Extreme Wireless N a year ago. The AE was a HUGE disappointment and for $199 I was severely irate that the Linksys had MORE controls and features for 1/3 the cost. Unfortunately the AE did not need resetting like the Linksys'. With my bad experience I wasn't about to drop another hundred for a Buffalo or Asus either. My original intent of this router was to install OpenWRT and Gargoyle for the bandwidth monitoring and control so the pricetag of $35 was my deciding factor --if I screwed up flashing it, I would only be out a small chunk of change... However, if you do want to run custom firmware, this router is (generally speaking) unsupported; mine shipped as v7.1 and thus far v5 is the only supported/released version.Upon physically installing the router I immediately noticed the webadmin IP address, username and password printed on the identification sticker located on the bottom of the router. Wow, no needing a manual just to login; what a great start! The remaining portion of router setup was extremely simple and if ANY of the options did confuse me, the webGUI's right-side contains well written and detailed help info. The biggest bonus (for me) that came built in this router is bandwidth control. NICE! Just the feature I was wanting. And to think I only bought this to install custom software. I will say that bandwidth control setup is intuitive and works great. Keep in mind though that you MUST bind the IP address with the MAC address of the computers you wish to control or setup static IP or something. Binding is easier, but that's your choice. Bandwidth control is configured by creating rules; rules which can be applied to a single or IP range. Each rule can also specify min and max upload and download speeds. The only improvement I would love to see (which is available in Gargoyle) is bandwidth capping based on usage as opposed to overall limits. So, if your ISP gives you 10GB per month and you want to limit each PC in the home to 2GB per month, than this router (unmodified) is not for you. However, if a user is always downloading something and you can't stand all the bandwidth hogging --than you should find this router acceptable.Another nice surprise was in the Security control with which I can limit local web setup to specific MAC addresses; great if you do not want other computer users to try and access the web setup page and WLAN bridging.More features I have yet to try:Parental controls: The Router, providing convenient Parental Control function to control the internet activities of the child, can limit the child to access certain websites and restrict the time of surfing. On this page, you can create the ruleaccess control.Access Controls: The Router, providing convenient and strong internet access control function, can control the internet activities of hosts in the LAN. Moreover, you can flexibly combine the Host List, Target List and Schedule to restrict the Internet surfing of these hosts.[edit 1Feb2011]Okay, I have owned this router for one week now and thought I would do an update:1- WiFi hangs or does not always restore itself following a software reboot -have to power cycle to get WiFi back online.2- With that said, the TP-Link does come with a power button! Much easier to click-off-click-on than to unplug and hope the cord doesn't come out all the way. Very very handy when the router is shoved under a desk or some place painfully inaccessible and a power cycle is necessary.3- The parental and access controls have me thoroughly confused. There are 4 pages (maybe more) that deal with setting up these controls; very convoluted. My attempt to time-lock one computer at a specific time apparently knocked everything offline.Other than these (3) problems, I am still really happy with this router

I decided to purchase this device based on the price and the decent reviews so far.I recently moved and forgot to pack my router, so I bought this. When connected via ethernet, I have no problems with this device. It was very easy to set up.MY problems with this item are related to it's wireless capabilities. Though my apartment is pretty small, this item is not a great solution. I have the device placed at one end of my living room, by my desktop computer so that I can connect to it via ethernet. My bed is one room over and a distance of about 20 ft max away from the router. When in my bed with the bedroom door closed, I am unable to get a wireless signal on any of my devices. With the door open, I can get weak signal, but good enough for my needs, so that is my solution. I've set up a different router from work to see if it's just that my walls and door are too thick, but the second router was able to reach my bed with my doors close without problems. One great thing about this router is that if you wanted to, you could install DD-WRT onto it, which is great. It's great having a router that is able to run dnsmasq at a $20 price. That's way cheaper than running a Raspberry Pi as a wireless router. I doubt that many people reading these reviews would need this information, but I know that there will be at least one, so I'll put it out there. Sadly however, DD-WRT hasn't been able to help with my wireless issue (even maxing out the wireless power setting).

I was looking for a router to replace my wireless Linksys 1000, which had started to drop connections on me. I was looking for a good solid router that would keep my two laptops, and my networked laser printer connected to the Internet ... I have always used Linksys routers in the past, but I just wasnt impressed with anything they were offering ... I ordered two of the TP Link WR841N routers with the intention of flashing one with ww-drt .. I didnt bother using the setup disc that came with the router, as I prefer to set my routers up manually .. The 841N has been rock solid with the stock firmware, absolutely great connections, so much so that I have abandoned the idea of flashing the firmware with 3rd party firmware .. If you're streaming movies and other stuff, then maybe you would be better of with a duel band type router, but if you are looking for a good solid router to keep a printer and your computers connected to the Internet, the TP Link 841N is a winner in my book .. Again, maybe this is just me, but it has been my experience that using provided setup discs to set up routers, no matter how well the disc is written, trouble with the router was always just around the corner ... Take the time to set it up manually, dont use the auto channel selection, select a channel to use from 1 - 11 ...

I am re-writing this from 4 stars to 1 star. I bought this one to replace my old Airlink 802.11g router, which I found difficult for video streaming even with a wired connection.PRO:Setup was easy. With the mini CD, it only took me a few minutes.Signal strength and speed was excellent when it was working. The wired connection speed was 100 Mbps, and wireless speed was 53 Mbps, which depends on your adapter. An 802.11g device is up to 55 Mbps (Dynamic). To fully utilize the 300 Mbps rate you would need to have an 802.11n device which I don't have.Range was adequate when it was working. Anywhere in my two story house was four bar.CON:It was very unstable. It was working for a couple of weeks and up and down for the rest of the time during the first month. The customer service was difficult to reach and helpless. I called a few times and couldn't get nobody. Wrote a few emails and no response till I got it fixed for a day, then broke again.I was using it for web surfing, IP phone line and video streaming. No funny stuff.Update on Dec 27, 2011:Two weeks after I received this product, I found the wired connection not as robust and as fast as the wireless connection with this router. I have just had a situation where I couldn't get connected through my wire, even after rebooting my desktop, while all wireless connections were intact. I had to unplug the power to reset the router to re-establish a wired connection. Later at night, I found I had very limited range for the wireless connection: I had to bring my laptop to the router to have enough signal, and even that was not stable. I tried to reach the customer service line, no one was available.Update on Dec 28, 2011:I cleared clutter at least two inches around the router for better signal transmission and ventilation, and removed cordless phones in the room. I also ran the latest firmware update. It started working again.Update on Jan 1, 2012:Lost wireless connection. Can't get it to work. Decided to return it. Feel lucky that it got broken within the first month so that I can easily return it. Thanks for Amazon's customer service. After reading reviews and searching, I decided to give ASUS Black Diamond Dual Band Wireless-N 600 Router (RT-N56U), $123, a try. Wish me good luck.Update on Jan 11, 2012:I got the ASUS Black Diamond Dual Band Wireless-N 600 Router (RT-N56U) installed. It works for a HP Windows 7 64-bit, a Windows Vista netbook, a Mac Book and a SONY VAIO laptop. On VAIO laptop the speed was 115 mbps, but I haven't got a chance to check the Mac (should be about the same). The signal stength was always excellent at 5 bar anywhere in my house, although occationally it was 4 bars. I have yet to find a good use of the dual band. Seems to me most devices are using only the 2.4GHz and not the 5GHz band. But I am pretty sure sooner or later the 5 GHz devices will become more available.

02/01/2013: They have sent me a new wireless router and are going to step-by-step walk me through set up with support from the state side.01/21/2013: I finally reached someone in the states from a very helpful overseas agent. Anthone, stateside support actually called me back within minutes. Hopefully, the problem is resolved. He had to make a change from the "auto" to a set one. Anthone advised me that sometimes the "auto" set-up is less stable than choosing the correct one (ie. cable, DSL, satellite). It's been about 5 hours and so far, no disconnect. I am hopeful! No updates after this one means it is working!12/29/2012: Resets 3x or more/day. Disconnects my Ooma phone so I don't receive messages and it's a challenge to reset it for the 15 or so minutes before I have to do it again! Spent 2.5 hours with "overseas" technical support - nearly 1/3 was trying to communicate with each other. FINALLY after MUCH ENCOURAGEMENT AND FRUSTRATION Calvin, an overseas supervisor had someone from CA call me, about 2 hours later when I was leaving for work. Kevin (CA) said he would call me back yesterday at 4:30pm. No call at all and was home since 3:30 just so I could be here for his call. Of course we have to go through overseas first and it's just too frustrating. Made it clear to both Calvin and Kevin that I have an Ooma phone and it doesn't work most of the time because the TP-Link "Best" disconnects it. Both product AND customer service rate a "0"

So Far so good, saw some mixed review here on amazon, but thought i'd give this device a try. So far I'm very impressed by its ease of setup and layout of setup page. As with all Routers I threw away the instructions and CD as soon as I opened the box I had no problems logging in and setting the WAN and LAN up quickly. The menu system they use for the device is much better then most I have seen, you get all the help right there on the screen without having to click another button to find out 'what does WMM mean again??" most routers act like I'm trying to set this up using a 800x600 res screen, like there isn't enough space to show me the information while I'm on that page, lets open another window! derp. I know, minor annoyance but I always hated that :) TP does it right! it just makes it that much easier to set up, don't have to read all the descriptions then tab to the 'help' to read what they actually do.This device even has 'better' options then my D-LINK, like "admin log in only from mac address", not that its going to save the world but it might keep my kids out of the admin features for a few more years :PNow I just have to see if it beats the claims of dieing after a few months and it'll be golden :) it'll become my new number 1 router manufacturer, like "oh you got a cisco? you need to get a TP-Link!"

After setting up the router everything worked. I like the router's web interface. I have multiple computers (Windows 7, Linux), Google Nexus tablet, Roku, WD Live TV, and wireless brother printer which all worked together well via the router.Unfortunately, after a few days my Windows computer suddenly lost Internet connectivity. I assumed the Windows PC had a bad network card but the device manager said everything was working fine. Then, I thought it was the Ethernet cable but that was fine as well.I contacted my ISP and was told the cable modem was fine. I decided to return the router. Easy with Amazon. The next day I figured I'd try resetting the router and see if that would work. It did. But, why is a reset necessary? I never remember having to reset my other routers. Is resetting common? Is that why this router has a Backup button to save all configuration settings to my local computer as a file. I assume that technically I should be able to easily reset the router and import the backed up settings. But, why should I have to do that?I have no desire to reset this modem any more. So, it's still going back.

While there was nothing wrong with my old Sisco router, I thought it was just time for a new one since I was ready to buy a new computer. I purchased the TP-LINK TL-WR940N Wireless N300 Home Router. That was a mistake. When I bought my new desktop I hooked up the router, ran the set-up up disk, and entered all the proper IP & DNS info, I went to my browser, and… nothing! Didn’t work. Okay, new computer, new router, could be anything right? I called TP-LINK customer service to find out what the problem was. The customer service rep, while sticking to the script, was almost completely unintelligible. But I muddled through, manually keyed in all the admin updates and hey, it worked! The next day when I turned on my computer, it wasn’t working again. No internet connection. I went through all the admin stuff again, and it worked, didn’t work, worked, didn’t work, and then just for giggles, I hooked up my old Sisco with my new computer… Works just fine! The TP-LINK TL-WR940N Wireless N300 Home Router was the worst purchase I ever made and if I could give it a zero instead of a one, I would. Steer clear.

I set this router up at my parents house against their Cisco-Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless-N Router for comparison. This router has superior range and speed to the Linksys. Setup was very easy. They even had little foldouts for problems with DSL and Cable isps, which was a nice touch. In a 3000 sq ft house you can get excellent coverage everywhere and even outside!! I'm very impressed with this purchase. I had a slight problem with it because I was using a common channel and then I switched to channel 4 and never had a problem after that. I previously had a Linksys E2500 Advanced Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router, it was horrible and $80. I returned the Linksys and got the TP-Link. This TP-Link is far far superior and way less expensive. I have used it with Roku 2 XS 1080p Streaming Player and a couple different laptops without problems. I was watching Roku with two laptops at the same time all streaming video and it worked great.*If anyone has problems with interference or slow connection, go into the settings through your browser and change the channel to something less common like channel 4.*Pros:Long rangeFast speedsEasy setupInexpensiveWall mount holesCons:Can't think of any besides the Ethernet cable being a bit too short for my taste. Some might not like the antennas, but they provide great range.**UPDATE: I have had this for several weeks now and I'm very impressed. I haven't had to restart the router and speeds are still fast. I like how dim the lights on the router are in the dark. Great router. I'll update if I have any problems.*** Update 2: I have had this for a couple months now and it is still working well. I'm very impressed with it. I'm constantly watching 1080p streaming video on my Roku and have two laptops going at the same time with no problems. The other day I had a problem with the connection going in and out and being slow, but I simply looked up what channels were being used nearby and changed the channel, now I have no problems. Still a great product after about six months.

I have this connected to a Motorola DSL modem. In the past, I have had issues with setting up DSL routers where they compete for the IP addresses of other devices. The usual fix is to change the IP address from, for example, 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. In this case, this was not necessary. The process was very simple. There is a CD that comes with the router to run the Easy Setup Assistant. They named this one right. You simply run the assistant, put in your modem password, and go. If you do not have a CD drive, and you do not have the ability to transfer the CD from another machine, you can always use the included non-CD setup instructions. I didn't have a CD-rom drive on the family member's system I set it up on (and I forgot to bring my laptop), but I just went to the TP-Link website and downloaded the setup assistant.Routers should not be hard to setup, and this one was not. If I run into any reliability issues, locking up/rebooting, etc., I will post an update to this review. So, far, everything is running well. Another good thing is that is was only $19.99. This is a very good deal.

I purchased this router to configure as a client bridge for my media room as my Powerline Ethernet adapters were not very reliable. The router came with v3.11 firmware and I was able to configure it as a client bridge, however, my Samsung TV won't connect to the Internet when connected by Ethernet to this router. I figured a firmware update might fix this issue and I downloaded the latest from TPLink's site which was 3.16. The router said that the upgrade was successful and a reboot is required. I waited a few minutes after a reboot and noticed that I wasn't able to connect to the router any more. The power light was lit and all the other lights were flashing simultaneously. I upgraded the firmware by connecting my laptop via ethernet as I know that upgrading via wireless is a bad idea. I called TPLink and was greeted with the typical response of reset your modem, restart your computer, etc., and they were not listening to what I was saying about the lights flashing. I returned this router and purchased a Belkin N300 Share with USB port for 3 extra dollars.

It works fine when it works, which is nearly all of the time. Still I have to unplug it for a second at least twice a day. That's after downloading the latest firmware from their website. (btw, having a customer service rep whose English is very difficult to understand isn't something to be known for...I'm sorry to say). Maybe I ought to be grateful that at least twice each morning I have to go to another room to reboot it, since all things being equal it's better to be in motion than sitting on my ... sofa. But, from reading the reviews I expect that it won't last much longer. So far so...okay, but I won't be surprised if one day soon it just stops working altogether.TP-Link really, imo, ought to take this product off the market. That's why I'm giving it only 1 star...I don't "hate it" since it mostly works. I just think TP-Link is really lame for continuing to sell it...for sure I'll never buy another product of theirs and if anybody asks I'll be sure to speak my mind. Sorry.

Bought this router as just got Time Warner Internet installed as to far away from a loop with ATT so speed was half of what I should be getting. Time Warner wanted to charge me $5.00 more per month for a wireless modem so I started looking for a cheap router. After looking at a few I found the TP Link TL-WR740N Router & read some of the reviews & they were mostly positive. I'm a computer repair tech so I can set these things up in my sleep. The unit set up so easy never had to login to the router to sent it up. After connecting to the Time Warner modem just clicked on the wireless icon on bottom right of task bar & clicked on my routers name & then set up launched set up WPA2-PSK & entered security pin code given & hit apply & it was all set up. Been using it for like a week with not one issue yet & no dropped signal. Some people may have to change the default gateway if it is the same as your ISP to avoid any conflict or you may need to change the channel it is using.

I am writing this review for people who are considering to use this router as a repeater of your wireless network. DO NOT USE THIS. Being the tech guy in my family, I handle every single electronic equipment on my house so I am always looking forward for products that are easy to install and work flawlessly. I have an old Linksys WRT160N v2 (which is a terrible, horrible router) and was looking to extend the coverage of my house. I was searching for a cheap router to be flashed with DD-WRT and found this. Now, I know it is my fault for not researching properly the capabilities of dd wrt on this router, therefore I am giving it 4 stars. I did manage to use it as a repeater (client bridge mode) but it was extremely difficult to get it to work right. And it still isn't working correctly since the internet connection drops randomly and very frequent, but I can't say its the wr740n's fault. I am giving it 4 stars because I know it provides great coverage and is very easy to install just as a regular router. Looking to use this as a repeater? Get an access point that lists repeater mode as a feature instead.

UPDATE 1/6/2013: I now use it as a LAN only router unit and cascaded another brand wireles router on the other side of the home. It is shown to reliable as a LAN side router and the DHCP works fine. ORIGINAL POST: What a mistake for me and I will most likey have to spend hours trying firmware and other tricks to make the wireless work. This thing was a POS right out of the box and is no more use than being an expensive wired hub. Like some older linksys models the wirless crashes within a few minutes to an hour when most significanlty when "wired LAN cables are plugged in to it. You can reboot but the same thing happens over and over. A couple good page responses then hang ups and soon the wirless has crashed and vanished. I emailed techsupport and they gave the regular line, here is a firmware upgrade, try it... But my position is they advertised me a working router and that's what I bought. I don't want to spend hours upgading and debuging their firmare issues. They should either send me a working router or come correct the formware themselvesThe Good:It was reasonably priced and arrived in decent time.It does set up pretty easy out the boxPretty easy interface as wellThe Bad:It had glitches and crashes when I attempted to run wireless while LAN ports were plugged in to it.This is not an uncommon problem with some chip sets out there. Linksys had a cable modem some time where the wireless would crash if wired LAN cables were attached. Sad and sorry I dodn't by a good old relaiable Netgear or a DLink...

Ужасно

I wanted to replace my old Linksys WRT110 router, looking to improve on range. The linksys also has a WPS security issue.A router such as this Tp-link for about $27 and decent star ratings is too good to pass up, and I was willing to put up with troubleshooting because of the low price.Setup was easy, I used the browser, not the disc.My issue was that after about a minute of surfing, webpages would stop loading. I called tech support. We changed the channel mode from auto to a fixed number. Didn't work. There was nothing else to try, as I had already upgraded to the latest firmware (TL-WR841N_V8_121101). The tech guy himself suggested I need to return it, which I have done.I wanted to try DD-WRT, but this version of router (TL-WR841N V8.3) is not supported. On the plus side, using inSSIDer, I saw that the signal was much stronger than my old router, usually by about 10 dBm.

I'm not particularly computer savvy, but I can usually figure things out if I struggle with them long enough. I spent hours trying to install this new router and finally gave up and went to bed. After a good night's sleep I decided to give it one more try in a thorough, systematic way. And there it was! An addendum to the Quick Set Up instructions buried among all the other paper detritus that came with this device. It's for those of us (who are many) who get our internet service from the cable TV company. You have to go about it in a slightly different way. A couple of resets to factory settings for both the router and my cable company modem and I proceeded with the addendum instructions and everything started to work. Cable company internet service should have been addressed in the main set-up instructions. That oversight cost this product two stars.

I have to say that I was skeptical about buying a router under $50, since I always believe that you get what you pay for.Well I have to say that this router compared to the WD - My Net N750 802.11a/b/g/n Dual-Band Wireless Router that I got from best buy and cost three times that amount. Well, it blows the WD out of the water.Performance wise is awesome! Never drops signal around the house. Since I have the turbo package from bright house, on the 5Ghz band I was only getting around 27Mbps Vs the full 32Mbps I get with the TP-LINK N300. The range is twice of what I was getting with the WD N750. Also, WD kept dropping signal every time I was watching 1080p movies through VUDU. I was very disappointed since the WD was highly recommended by a tech in Geek squad. I am just impressed with TP-LINK N300. Its worth every penny. I actually end up returning the WD.

Initially going to buy one of the recommended routers on the many lists by Google. But then I remembered during my college days, when I owned a TP-Link router which I used for my PS3 gaming, and how that never failed me.I stumbled across this router using Amazon's filters for one of their cheaper $30 offerings. But in the product description, there was a product guide for their other products. Since I do heavy internet browsing (read: multiple youtube/porn streams loading at a time), but no longer require gigabit connections for online gaming, I decided to purchase this router. I figured I'd chance it, since it's only $10 bucks more for faster speeds, and hell, it's got three antennas. Gotta be better than two, right?Got this package today to replace the Belkin Wireless N router that I fried with too many simultaneous porn streams, and setup was pretty easy. All I had to do was pop in the CD and follow instructions. I hadn't changed the MAC address, and figured it would hamper the setup process. It did.So I went into 192.168.1.1 as recommended by the book, and changed the MAC address to what the previous setup was. Lo and behold, my wireless internet connection was back online. Tried streaming a couple youtube videos, and to my surprise, I was able to watch 720P streams without having to wait for the video to buffer. Works as advertised, and I'm a happy camper.Haven't subjected it to my gauntlet test yet because I had to run back to work, but I suspect as long as this thing has adequate ventilation, much internet plundering will be had. And all for $40. That's like...40 cheeseburgers.

My sadness now isn't because my new TP-Link router doesn't function, it's just that currently it has been disconnected, making wireless reception horrible. Just got Fios, and they made us use their own router, a piece of junk that can't project more than 5 feet without cutting out. The TP Link we ordered here was an actual quality of life upgrade, one that had us smiling for a month before FIOS ruined everything. My husband says he thinks he can set the TP Link router up on the other side of the house, somehow connecting the two routers. My brother told me he loved this router and to get it. He was right. This is the best router, with three antennae, and allows you to even go outside. And the price....who ever thought a powerful router would cost so little? wish I had given them as presents this holiday season. If you are mad, frustrated or bummed about your present router, do yourself a favor and put all those bad feelings behind you, and smile with JOY when you realize that your wifi problems are now gone...unless you get FIOS. Wish us luck, I need our TP Link Router back NOW!!!

I bought this (October 2012) because my old hardware could not keep up with the new 30 meg speeds Comcast is throwing down the wire. This unit is fast, set up was easy, and MIMO allows all my tenants (8) to access at the same time. I hooked up 2 external antennas and am piping the signal to my other bldg 180 feet away as well.Too new for reliability report. I will update... good or bad... down the road.UPDATE: March 16, 2013>>> For the record my router is version 6. It has dropped out and had to be rebooted 8 times as follows...Setup Oct14 , 2012Dropouts requiring reboot:#1)Nov 20#2) Dec 12#3) Jan 17#4) Jan 28#5) Feb 12#6) Feb 18#7) Mar 1#8) March 14On March 16th, 2013 I installed another one that I had bought as a backup. This one is marked Version 8.I will update this new one in the future. These dropouts are a pain because I live 15 miles from the unit which is at my rental property. I have had to call the neighbor to reboot and pay him $10 for each reboot. If I was onsite it would not be such a big deal. Otherwise this unit performs very well. This unit is important because of the external antenna connections required to attach beam antennas to get the signal to my other rental 180 feet away and hit it with a good enough signal'. Eight tenants depend on this and when it works, it works well.
