I can totally understand the high demand craze for this system. Granted, the graphics are not as good as the XBOX360 or the PS3, but what Nintendo has done is brought gaming back as it should be. No high dollar price to get extras like dvd playing, music, internet, etc. They focused on making this a GAME console. If you want a DVD option, get a DVD player. If you want music, buy an Ipod or a stereo. If you want the internet, buy a computer. Consoles are supposed to be for GAMES. These other high end units have taken that away, although they are great, they are overpriced because of these features.
I say Kudos for Nintendo for making such a fun system, and I am glad to see what a success that it is, and why it continues to be in high demand and sells out. People can appreciate getting a system for the WHOLE famly, and investing in an affordable GAMING console without all of the extra mumbo jumbo at a high priced cost that the competitors offer on their units.

We also got the Wii EA Sports Active game so that my wife and I could work out together. We break a sweat everytime. We've done four workouts in the 30 day challenge thus far and we're both sore. Which is impressive since we're both in decent shape to begin with.

This system is EASY to install and set up. We had the wii up and running in 15 minutes. wii Sports is usually included with the console so you don't have to go out and buy a video game to start. This game gets you active and is a great introduction to how the sytem works. Most reviewers have already detailed the inner workings so I will just add that whoever thought this sytem up was a genuis!! The interaction between the controls and the video game are amazing. This system beats any other in my view. The potential for wii is mind boggling although they have been a little a slow in output lately. Hmmmm. I will sit in anticipation of what they will think up next. I do have my eyes on a wii Fit but wonder what lies ahead.......
There are great resources (including Amazon) to research the best games to suit your interests. I recommend checking reviews, renting them or checking at your local library before buying since they can be pretty expensive.

i really wish i had bought a playstation 3, a lot of the wii games are poor versions of ps3 and x box games.
i dont like the fact that you have to use the nunchuk and wiimote for games that would be so much easier to play with a standard controller - like i was really looking forward to playing call of duty, but its impossible with the wiimote and nuchuk, you end up trying your hardest just to keep your hand still so you can move properly, there is no option for a classic controller which you could rest on your knee for more control, a lot of the games are like this.
i really really dont recommend the wii if you are a hardcore gamer, you will be dissapointed.
on the other hand wii fit is very good, also Dance revolution is great fun, rock band 2 is immense, but i really would not buy a wii again just for wii fit.

I never in my wildest imaginings thought the Wii would be so much fun. And it's not my 16 year old who got hooked, it was me! My favorite game of all is the tennis that came with the Wii Sports package. I got up to 2047 tonight. It is my favorite form of exercise - I play it morning and night, sometimes until my arms are just too tired to swing. It is just fun. I have bought a few more games, and was actually first introduced to the Wii by my daughter's American Idol game. But, I prefer movement - tennis, baseball, bowling, darts, etc. I didn't realize I was a total "gamer" now until I read some of the comments here. Go figure... I bought some more games tonight; can't wait till they arrive.

It turned out to be super easy. The instructions are clear--and mostly in pictures--and the set up is pretty intuitive. Had everything up and running in 20 minutes, and that included finding a transformer and adding it to the mix (I live in a 220v country, and my Wii is a US-version 110v piece of gear.) No worries! If you can connect speakers to your computer, you can hook this up, too.

This is the best family entertainment I have ever experienced, for the time that Nintendo Wii has been out they have created a lot of games. I only wish they would come in different colors, probably within the next 2 years they will have a good 5-8 colors to buy. I really like to play Mario Kart Wii if anyone is up to playing, I also like to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
I hope you can find a Nintendo Wii, don't let this one go, this is one of the best gaming systems out there.
Be sure to pick up a few extra controllers.

Of course, there is a time you can get bored if you don't like those games, if you don't increase your skills or in the case of the addicts to games you break all records and there is nothing else to break. But for my case, it is ok. You can get tons of games for the family at fair prices or you can get back to the Game Cube games to remember your previous ones.
If you have more than one kid, I recommend to buy the additional control (the one with Wii sports is a good choice) so you can avoid the usual fight for passing the control at each turn.

With 4 infrared remotes, the entire family or group of friends can compete in a fun atmosphere. Although the graphics are not high definition, the interface for gaming is where this excels.
The accompanying game disk, Wii Sports, is by far the most thrilling of the games. It includes Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Bowling, and Boxing. The simple interface and lifelike interactions can keep you gaming for hours. From bowling to Golf to boxing, you can simulate the actual actions of the sport.
In addition to gaming possibilities, I have hooked mine up to my wireless network, to quickly check weather and the news.
The set up of the system is rather easy for something with so many peripherals. Extra controllers need to be synced with your system.
My minor gripe is the infrared detecting device has fallen off of the flatscreen TV, many times.
Internal memory allows many game saves without us having to resort to accessory memory.
I have considered other gaming systems such as the Playstation 3 and the XBOX 360 but so many games oriented towards my daughter (age appropriate), I feel like I made the best choice.

The console itself is downright tiny--easily the smallest and lightest of the new generation of game machines. At 1.75 inches high by 6.25 inches wide by 8.5 inches deep (when oriented horizontally). But with different kinds of wii games, you can do what you want to do.
It is a season for giving gifts. Thanks to the EBay 30% cash back through Live.com for BIN items.
I bought two wiis from Ebay and get $192 cash back from live.com, the final price is much cheaper than AMAZON.
For those unfamiliar, you basically go to Live.com and do a search for an item like ipod, wii, etc. It will take you to a page with a 30% off link for EBay for the item. Once you click that, it will redirect you to EBay and show a 30% icon at the top of the EBay page which will apply to any BIN item on EBay (not just the item you searched for). You also can find a full instructions from the item page I bought.

By the way, the composite cables don't support the Wii's top resolution of 480p, so HDTV owners will need to purchase a set of Wii component cables (sold separately).

The Nintendo Wii game system is a new system that really changes the way we play video games. The gameplay on this system is all featured on a wireless remote which you can use your body to move your characters around in new ways. The system comes with a wired remote, a nunchuck analog controller attachment, and has a internal memory where you can store all your video game data. The system does include Wii Sports, which is a fantastic mini-game compilation that warms you up to the new ways you can play baseball from swinging the controller like a bat and a racket to play tennis, to a simple pair of boxing gloves in Boxing that you can use to knockout opponents. The remote also works great for games like Excite Truck, that you can use as a steering wheel to drive your car, or a fishing rod to catch reekfish in The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
The compatability with the system also works great for Gamecube owners as well. You can also play your classic Gamecube games on this system like Mario Kart: Double Dash, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. All you need to do is simply plug your gamecube controllers into the specialty port, and you can play all those great games Gamecube lovers know and love. The only disadvantage with this is that you can't turn the system off with the Wii remote whenever you play a gamecube game. Instead, you have to turn it off from the main console itself, whcih isn't a big problem. You also can download a whole deal of great classic games from Nintendo's past into the virtual console, and play wonderful games like Super Mario 64 from the Nintendo 64 system, and The Legend Of Zelda from the NES era. You can also download great games from other classic consoles, including the Sega Genesis and Turbographx 16. You can play classic games like Sonic The Hedgehog and Bonk's Revenge that you download from the Wii's online shop, and just play away.
While other systems like the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are more about the hype and cost more bang for your bucks, the Nintendo Wii really does deliver in a fantastic system that does deliver in changing not just the way we play video games, but keeps the fun alive for everyone young and old alike. Although I had a tough time trying to find the system, it is really worth the purchase. I love this system, and if you're a die hard Nintendo fan or someone who doesn't yet have a video game system, you'll love the Wii too.

I enjoyed it for the first couple of months and started to get bored with it. It was fun because I never played games in a manner of getting up and moving, but it got old, quick.
I haven't honestly turned it on in the past 6 months.
I grew up with SNES so I've grown accustomed to stagnant game playing (meaning I don't like moving around to play a game).
It's not a bad system, but it's not that great either. Maybe for kids and younger teenagers it is a good system, but I personally don't see any appeal in it.
If it weren't for the fact that the system belongs to both my brother and I, I would sell it so someone else could get enjoyment out of it.
There also aren't many games out for my tastes. Most games I see are directed towards kids, so I never see anything I would want to play.
So, to be straight forward, Wii is a good system for kids and younger teenagers (and even adults who don't normally play games), it just wasn't for me.
