Just Try it... its great!!!

To elaborate: I go back as far as the Atari 2600, and my first home-owned system was a Colecovision. Decades later, I got a Sega Genesis, and years after that I got a PC. Around the year 2003, I got an Xbox system from my wife for Christmas (thanks honey!).
From the first time I plunked quarters into Quicksilver pinball or Space Wars (and eventually onto Defender/Stargate), I loved video games. However, I always found the home units to be frustrating because the controls were never as intuitive/easy as an arcade machine. I tried SNIN and the Atari Jaguar also. PC games were where I stayed for a while because PC/RTS games inherently are a different form from arcade-style play; I could stay on a Defender/Stargate machine for hours on one quarter, but to play Starcraft or Warcraft for hours on end with a group of friends is a different (although enlivening) kind of rush. Web comics like Penny Arcade used to `cover' the differences between PC/MAC gamers and console gamers to good effect, and reading such things lead me to believe that an Xbox would be a neat idea.
Unfortunately, no. I had gotten rid of my Sega Genesis for the same reasons that I ultimately released my Xbox; the controllers were too frustrating. Kids can say I just didn't put in the practice time, whereas I say, I already did - decades ago. There just wasn't the same amount of fun as standing at an arcade machine and gripping palm-sized joysticks and punching quarter-sized buttons. Yes, I could have bought the `arcade' board adapter for the Xbox, but I didn't want a rehash of games I had played. I wanted new games with an easier way of playing them, and/or an innovative way of playing the current generation of home console games.
So my wife and I bought a Wii recently. We played it for hours, laughing the entire time. She was also a veteran of arcade halls, and we both agreed that playing Wii sports and Wii play was the most fun either of us had had with home console units. The fact that Wii Sports can be played predominantly with only the remote helped. Playing a leisure activity like bowling on a home console by actually moving your body in a similar manner to the real thing is a godsend! Boxing (which requires the nunchuk) provides a great aerobic workout, along with tons of fun. The other games are amusing, and don't forget to explore the Mii sections.
As for the `hard-core' gamers out there, by all means go get an Xbox 360; the graphics don't compare to the Wii, but that's not the point of the Wii. It's been a long time since a home console could be handed around to different members of a family, but this console has the distinction of being the first mainstream console PARTY unit for adults. Parents, grandparents, and their friends can gather around a Wii on a weekend with four controllers and have fun for hours.
I foresee a period when Sony and Microsoft change the way they design their systems and games due to the unforeseen explosion of popularity of the Wii. As of this writing, it's been about five months since the Wii debuted in the States, and I had to wait in line in the cold rain here in Central Jersey for two hours before I could get a TICKET that allowed me to get a Wii.
My only misgiving is the Wii's physical longevity. If my wife and I can squeeze five years of fun out of this console without a breakdown or trip to the manufacturer, this will have been money very well spent.

It was made by Nintendo for kids. If you buy a Wii you get Wii sports for free; it has tennis, bowling, golf, boxing and baseball. There is also program to see how fit you are. The Wii also has many games like Super Smash Bro. Brawl, Star Fox, Wii Play and many more. You can also play Nintendo game cube games. They have adventure games, thinking games, sports games, even yoga games.
Not only does it have fantastic games, it has wireless controllers so there are no wires to trip you and get in your way but they need batteries. You can use Nintendo game cube controllers and put in the game cube memory card and you can put in SD card but it must 2GB or less. Some games you can use the NDS (Nintendo DS) to play.
Furthermore, when you turn on the Wii there is a Wii menu where you can buy lots of programs, like news, weather, and lots of other choices. There is also a Mii (little person) channel where you can make your own Mii that looks just like you. You can buy 48 channels on the Wii for the Wii for your Wii menu.
Lastly, Wii can also be social activity my friends and I play on the Wii every weekend. On the Wii most games you can play with friends or parents. There is also Wi-Fi on the Wii so you can play with kids on the internet.
So if you have a kid that likes video games and also want those to be social and be health try the Wii, also if you are an adult you can work out with Wii yoga and Wii sports. Go buy a Wii now!

It's extremely fun. Nintendo fans will have a blast. Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Super Mario Bros. There's also the virtual console. For a few hundred points, you can buy older video games, even Sega ones.
This is a great buy,the best console of this generation. It has what the others lack. Fun. Pure fun. It has tons of it.
This is my favorite console to date, and most defiantly one of the best consoles.
It has a better array of games then the other consoles, and is more fun, in my opinion.
I highly recommend this, even if you own a PS2, PS3 or 360.

I bought this for exercise and did it ever deliver.
The interaction is so well done you feel like you are on the beach or running thru the woods. It forces you to focus.
There is no "age" on this, it is for 2 to 99.
Best Purchase!

Brings them together gets a little exercise, and lots of laughing.
