I'll be perfectly honest, I am not a gamer and I am not a techie. I don't care about the complexity of the graphics, the machine specs or what games are available. I am simply enjoy playing the Wii because it is fun!! We have six games and the Wii Fit, but we use the system frequently and enjoy every minute of it. (We just aren't the type of people to spend money on dozens of video games.)
We were very disappointed that when we opened it Christmas morning, the drive did not work and we could not use it. Naturally, because it was Christmas, it took SEVERAL days to get through to Nintendo Customer Service. The gentlemen I spoke to was very nice and expedited shipping for us. Once I sent the machine off, we had it back in 8 days.
I strongly recommend that if you are giving this item to your kids as a holiday gift, make sure it works first because you do not want to see the same sad faces I did on Christmas morning.

My husband and I agreed that we would buy a Wii and we could have some fun with it in the winter and on our weekends. Well, its not winter yet, but we are loving us some Wii. It's not just a kids toy, this can so be for adults too! We still haven't used all the features on it, but we've been playing Wii sports. I like that it keeps track of our high scores. And who would've thought I would break out a sweat playing that game. But its all fun and we're looking forward to playing other games on it. This was a good choice!

Everyone loves this game from young children to older adults. Its a great group activity that lasts and lasts.

If I was buying just for me, I might choose a PS3 and get the Blu-Ray player. However, I have young kids (7 and 3) and the number of games the Wii offers for kids, compared to the PS3, is unbelievable. If you have young kids and are buying something with them in mind, do them a favor and get the Wii. Of course, the demos for the PS3 wand (you can see on Youtube) make me think that will blow away the Wii. But, with no pricing on the wand available yet, no idea whether they will start marketing more games for the kids or not, I am still thinking the Wii is the best family choice.

We have this system for over few months now, and I do have to admit, it just never gets boring. It is not only fun, but also "healthy" activity after heavy family meals. Although we do have 5 different game discs, we all always end up playing Sports game and we love it. Best part is to see 56 yr women compete against 13 yr teenager and everyone else enjoying it.
Some other comments: set up was very easy, including wi-fi connection ( we do have Linksys wireless router and recognized it right away), cables in to TV and up go. I love the fact that we could order some Mario games from older versions ( although we have not played it yet) via internet store.
I am not sure if this is system for high profile gamers, but Wii exceeds all expectations in our house, when looking for gaming system to have fun, be healthy and be appealing to everyone ages 6-66. Thanks to the online store ( accessible from Wii console via wireless router) one can never run out of games to play or can buy different channels for fun and more info.
I was hard-core PS2 fan, my mom loved her Mario SNES, and after trying PS3 and being amazed by it's graphics and games, I realized that I can, personally, play my kind of games on laptop.Our Samsung TV is already wirelessly/via DNLA set up for media streaming from my computer, so I didn't need media center. Sure, blue-ray DVD player was added benefit of PS3, but ever since we have this system, we barely watch movies, and HD DVD player will be useful for some time.
This is definitely system for whole family and good entertainment for any gathering. And for those easily bored, internet stores and wide variety of games on disc and accessories, sure are leaving plenty of options to find something new all the time. And plenty of options to give as gift to someone who has everything else (including Wii system).

What can you say about a Wii? It's versatile and offers lots of fun! I bought this unit for my parents in their 60s for Christmas and they loved it! It's kept them active several days a week and my dad loves the Tiger Woods golf games. Highly recommend this for all ages!

We have already got many hours of fun for the entire family from our Wii ...it also gets people off the couch and moving a bit .. Lots of fun!

This was purchased as a gift for my Grandsons birthday. He is seven and they all had the greatest time

Anyone into gaming on tv will like the Wii. I do recommend getting a HD cable if your tv is HD capable. Makes the picture a whole lot better.

It's great. Came with a game already - Wii Sports. Easy to set up and install. Able to go online without the need of a computer, just internet.

I enjoy this product because it keeps me mentally and physically active. The product was easy to set up and understand instantly. I would recommend the WII Fit to everyone that is interested in stimulating themselves through a game console.

The Wii is no longer the cheapest game console out there, to warn those of the most popular reviewers on this item. It may have been the case in 2006, but in Christmas 2008, its more expensive than higher quality consoles like the Xbox 360 [...] which bundles with multiple games. In fact, with an extra controller purchase, the Wii currently will run you well over [...].
That being said. There's a place fore Wii. My 60+ yr old parents wanted a Wii to enjoy the social aspect of Wii Sports. They may eventually buy another title to go with it, but it's pretty much a 2008 "pong" device for them. They really love it and its fun to have a platform to play games and share some friendly competition.
The Wii console appears to be more about the additions that you can buy for it. I'd compare it to an iPod. Everyone wants one and has to buy all of the toys that goes with it, but in the long run an IPod isn't really better than other MP3 players and the Wii is the least capable gaming console that you can buy for the money. It's direct competitors in the market Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 have HD graphics, digital sound, immense game libraries as well as other features. Both Sony and Microsoft have extensive online play. Sony includes one of the best blueray players for the price point, while Microsoft has the best online services.
So if you want a game that good for little kids or grandparents. Get a Wii. They will love it. If you want a gaming platform that has the best graphics, video, online interactions... The Wii comes into last place amonst its competitors.
Its a nice console, for me it would have sit beside my xbox 360 and would only be used for games like Wii Sports with company.

Our family has had a PS2 for many years. This Christmas the kids wanted a WII. It's a great alternative to the PS/2. Sure the graphics are lousy and the platform is not made for realistic graphic intensive games, but the interaction is fun for everyone.

We got the WII for christmas and it has been one of the best purchases that we have made...It is fun and interactive so you get up off your butt and do something for a change. High marks here!

I absolutely love my Wii Game System. After playing several of the sports games that are included, you definitely feel like you've had a cardio workout, my favorite is tennis. What a great way to have fun and get exercise too. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this for Christmas since my husband has playstation and my son has a Nintendo DS so I wanted something we could all have fun with. WE LOVE THIS SYSTEM!! It is so much fun that we have a family wii night every night, for 30-45 minutes. Great for bringing family and friends together.

We bought the black Wii controller to begin with because it was cheaper than the white one. But, now we're glad we got a different color so we can distinguish between the two controllers. Glad they offer this nunchuk in black to match.
