It also forces you to play against AI players with skill levels so high you really have no chance. You do not get to select them, Wii does that.
It was great for a few weeks. Now, I still think it's slick, but just not any fun.

It's a good system. I LOVE that you can download the older Nintendo games that I enjoy like the Diddy Kong series.
And I also enjoy several of the Wii games, like Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Zelda etc.
But I think my Nintendo console buying days are over. Why, you may ask?
Because Nintendo ALWAYS puts out a few really good games at the console launch (almost always a Mario and a Zelda) and for a couple of months after. And then....sucky games abound!!! Nintendo just can't seem to get it up and keep it up! I haven't bought a Wii game in months. I think the last one was Guitar Hero (which, yes ok, is admittedly awesome).
It gets irritating supporting a company that puts out, in my opinion, a majority of substandard games that even my 10 year old nephew won't play. Nintendo is just so hit and miss. When I look at game reviews at IGN or Gamespot...the reviews are 6 or below for most Wii releases. Maybe 1 out of 20 games released gets a great review.
For a gaming console for the casual gaming family?...oh yeah, get the Wii. They have probably a good dozen games that you can get that will keep you entertained for some time. And probably a good dozen more kid-friendly games (tho' don't ask me what they are...I haven't been all that interested in the "My Pretty Pony" type of games).

On the surface, it seems like a pricey game, however, it is worth every penny and more. I have not ever been a "gamer" so I didn't see the point and I also wouldn't know the difference between the Wii and Xbox or any other game system. I just know that it gets us off our butts and playing something really fun as a family or alone.
It also has wireless internet capability. If you have wireless internet, you can do a lot with that including downloading more games at reasonable cost.
I highly recommend the Wii along with Wii Fit. You won't regret it!

I just think the Wii is this year's Cabbage Patch Kid or Tickle Me Elmo. Everybody wants once simply because everybody wants one.
I'm also mystified at the ratings the Wii and its games are getting. I picked up Metroid and Mario Galaxy and thought those would be "sure things" in a sea of awful games currently available for the Wii. Boy was I wrong.
NO CAMERA CONTROL FOR MARIO??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This was a major step forward in platforming and gaming in general, all the way back to Mario 64. It's a limitation of the Wii hardware, I suppose, so I think it fits here in a general review of the Wii.
How is "pointing" the Wii-mote in Metroid better than an analog stick? At least you have "camera" control with the pointer, but is it really any better than using a second thumb stick? I don't think so.
Graphics. We all know about the graphical shortcomings of the Wii. Both Metroid and Mario are hailed as offering some of the best graphics available on the Wii. Well, that's not saying much, compared to even the WORST games on the XBOX 360. This is definitely "last gen" hardware, graphically speaking. That's too bad, because the Gamecube could hold its own against the original XBOX and PS2.
Wii Sports - yeah, yeah, yeah, my Mom played this with my son this morning, which would have NEVER happened on the 360. I guess this should make me shed a tear for inter-generational gaming. I found the games to be utterly random and unpredictable. My kid flailing wildly threw more strikes than anyone. Huh?
You need to be squarely in front of the TV to play it appropriately. It's a consideration.
If you're used to gaming on the PS3 or XBOX 360, I think you will be disappointed in most aspects of the Wii. The "ace in the hole" for the Wii is the motion control, and IMO it isn't implemented all that well.
We had lots of fun with the Gamecube and N64. And, in fairness, my kid has been playing the Wii all day (and I do think the Wii Zapper is pretty slick), and this is a kid who plays a lot of 360. So it may appeal to some.
Also it appears to be a high quality machine, easy to set up, and well packaged. We have 2 360s and they've been fine, but you can definitely tell the Wii is one polished piece of equipment. That's always been true of Nintendo equipment, and this is no different.
And bully for the average person who enjoys a Wii because they're intimidated by the controls and games of the PC, XBOX 360, and PS3. Some folks will enjoy the Wii's simple--but IMO shallow--pleasures.
I played it today and may continue to do so for "quality time" with the kids. But for quality gaming, and the best titles, I'll stick with my 360.

Overall, highly recommend for families with kids from 3 and up. Very accessible for all ages with intuitive game-play. Hardcore gamers may be disappointed as graphics and in-depth RPG games are lacking.

stops playing it because she likes it. So she should get a PS3 or an Xbox 360. She hates the wii now. The good thing
about the wii is it has Mario games and she likes Mario games. The bad things about the wii is: poor game choices for her to choose, no Nazi zombies on Call of Duty world at war on the wii version, and not too much mature games. My daughter likes hardcore games. All of her wii games are to easy for her. Buy the PS3 or Xbox 360.

I fully recommend this for anyone who has held out this long and still hasn't bought one. It's just a blast. Nothing intimidating, just lots of fun with little commitment.

If you are somebody who is looking for great graphics, this doesn't have the strongest you'll find, but it's hardly "poor graphics" or anything like you'd see on old school systems like Atari or Coleco Vision.
If you're looking for something different, this is a very fun system.

Wii is truly innovative as it allowed people like me to play video games for the first time. Wii Sports - the game that comes with the console -makes great use of the wireless remote. All of a sudden, I can golf or box or bat away in my living room. It simulates the game really well and you feel like you're really playing the game. Of course, it's not really the same thing as playing outdoors but then how many times do I get the chance to play the real game anyway! It's really fun to play the games available for the Wii with friends and family, and share some great times together. Wii seems to have the best collection of family friendly games.
With games like Wii Fit, Dance Dance Revolution, Hannah Montana World Tour, Jillian's 30 day shred the Wii has become a great way to exercise. With games like Guitar Hero and Wii Music we can rock out. With Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Ski, Mario Kart we can simulate some fun sports right in our living room. And of course, there are Zelda and Metroid Prime type games available if you're into "real" gaming.
I see XBox and PS3 more as the hard core gamer consoles, especially given the choice of games available for them. On the other hand, Wii really shines as a family console which can be played by ages 5 to 99. It seems like the best console for a night with family and friends, even people like me who still suck at the hard core video games can have fun with this one.
