If you're looking to only play first person shooters online constantly than the Wii is obviously not for you. If you want something that will provide plenty of fun and a new video game experience, give it a shot. It is completely worth it.

I was able to get the Wii when Amazon had an open box unit available. For folks trying to get one, I was looking every day for several weeks. I didn't spend huge amounts of time on it, but whenever I remembered, I would check out different online stores and I finally lucked out on Amazon!
If you don't know yet what gaming system to get, what really helped me was to take a look at the games available for each system and see which I thought I would actually play. Also, I went to the electronics section at my local Target and tested out the systems there. I've seen people playing the systems at Walmart, too. I'm sure all the stores that sell these gaming systems have them out so people can try them. Anyway, all the systems seem very well made but the Wii was easier for me to play and seemed like a fun family system.
And what makes the Wii even sweeter, is the great Christmas gift I got! Rockband with a wireless guitar. Sooooooo much fun!

it and truly LOVE the Wii!!!

Overall, a very good deal from Amazon. Also, the shipping is very fast.
Amazon: keep on the good work...

Pros:
-The new Wii remote makes the game more fun by making you feel more part of the game.
-The console itself is very sleek and stylish.
-It is very small and lightweight, which is good if your spending the night at a friends house and you want to bring it over.
-Its really fun messing around with the Miis, and games like Mario Kart Wii let you play the game as your Mii.
-It has up to four ports where you can use the GameCube controllers and two slots for GameCube memory cards.
-It comes with Wii Sports which help people new to the console get used to the controls, and the mini games are pretty fun.
-The whole family can get involved.
-It has WiFi.
-It's very quiet and does not heat up as much as Xbox 360s and PS3s.
Cons:
-Even though the controls are real cool they are a bit awkward at first and may take some time to get used to.
-It does not support HD. This isn't a problem for everybody, but I have an HDTV and I would have liked to see Mario in high-def.
-In order to get a 480p resolution you have to buy an extra component cable.
-It does not have an ethernet port. I use WiFi, but this is a problem for people who don't have WiFi.
-Graphics. I know it's not a big deal, but for some reason I feel like I'm getting an enhanced GameCube sometimes. I know it was Nintendo's intentions to make the Wii more appealing to families, but when the graphics are not much of an improvement from last gen consoles I feel a bit ripped off.
I definitely recommend the Wii to everyone, with the exception of the hardcore gamers. It's great fun and it's what video games should be. If you loved all of Nintendo's past consoles you will surely love this one.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galaxy
which are games that any Wii-owner should have. As for the graphics, the games so far haven't boasted the best graphics but Nintendo is currently working on that, planning great visual effects in games in the near future. There is so much to come for this system, they're constantly coming up with new and unique games and accessories for it!

There are a lot of reviews here for the Wii, and if the previous thousand or so don't convince you to buy one then my review probably isn't going to be the tipping point. However, if you are sitting on the fence over this, then I say fall off. Go and get yourself a Wii.
The Wii is so utterly and completely different from previous gaming systems, not only because of its unique controller but also just because of the variety of people who are willing to play. Everyone wants to give it a go, and everyone is hooked once they do. The Wii is perfect for family gatherings, because everyone plays together and has a good time as well.
The fact that you are standing up and moving around makes a huge difference as well. We worked off some Thanksgiving turkey playing tennis, and some old-fashioned brotherly aggression with the boxing game.
If there is a single sore point to the Wii, it is that there really isn't any game more fun than the Wii sports that comes with the system. I am hoping that Nintendo will invest in some games now that the system is taking off, but we aren't there yet.

I like the fact that you need to get up off the couch and play these games. Remember when games meant physical activity instead of sitting on a couch pressing buttons? Well, here's a game console that actually encourages physical activity. If you're a parent that wants to encourage physical activity to your kids, this is the console for you.
There are a few things to note though:
1.If you have a mounted flat screen TV, the included wired Wii sensor will be problematic. The wire won't be long enough to snake through a wall and into your A/V rack. Fortunately, a few companies have like Nyko have produced wireless sensor options. They have it here in Amazon.
2.If you want to get the most out of the Wii in terms of image fidelity for your HDTV you'll need to get component cables. These cables will allow the Wii to send 480p signals to your HDTV. Nintendo didn't bundle component cables with the Wii. You can purchase the Nintendo component cables or you can get third party options. All of which are available for purchase here at Amazon.
3.For all those who are finding it hard to get a Wii, try checking the online and brick and mortar stores on Wednesdays and Thursdays. That's usually when shipments arrive.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that the PS3 and the XBox 360 don't have their place. Both of those gaming consoles have media center-like capabilities that the Wii can't touch. In the case of the PS3, it's Blu-Ray player. But that isn't the demographic Nintendo was aiming for with this product. It was aiming for the family gaming market. And in THAT market, the Wii excels.
