new game and the console + a case, for a fan this is the greates thing. first time having a dsi love the camara, has sd card slot, dsi shop, and the menu screen is like a mini wii... the Game very nice, new adventure new ways to battle and the story is very good, you wished it could last forever.

I am a sixty year old gamer that likes to play Zelda and puzzle games. I had a black Nintendo dsi and loved the unit except for the fact that I was playing games two inches in front of my nose. In my own little nearsighted world, I got along okay and enjoyed the games. Then Nintendo came out with this XL unit......I got the bronze and think that it looks very fashion forward no matter what your age is. It is absolutely stunning and made my little black unit look pretty sad. That being said, Nintendo really did not promise anything other than a bigger screen and this unit delivers! You no longer have to struggle to see the screen. I have played Spirit Tracks on it so far and do not regret the upgrade from the dsi for even a nanosecond. When you think about it, would you rather watch a large television or one with a tiny screen...this is the same thing. The unit is larger but not so large that I would not put it in my purse and play it on the run. So far though, I have not found a small case for it that I like. I will let you know if the extra weight bothers me. I don't think that it will as the screen size alone is totally worth the upgrade. Also, I am not worried about the new 3D unit. I talked to some real Nintendo representatives that were in the store this morning and they had heard that the unit is a year away for US release. If it doesn't have a large screen, I won't want it anyway. UPDATE: I have had the dsi xl for ten days and play it daily. The heavier weight is not an issue for me. I would definitely buy it again and am extremely happy with my purchase. This item was specifically designed for people who need/want a larger screen and it fits this need perfectly. UPDATE 2: I have now had the unit for over a month and still play it daily-this never happened with the regular dsi as I lost interest due to not being able to see the screen well. DSI XL is worth every penny if screen size is an issue and I would still definitely buy it again. UPDATE 3: 09/02/2010 Still love it. My favorite toy ever!

WOW! What fun even for an old lady like me. My grandson (8 y.o.)and I (way over 50)play it everyday now. He has a "regular DS" and the XL is mine. Great big screens so easy to see things and read instructions and play the games. Another WOW! We can play together with his games he had already and with the Mario Kart. What's great is the downloading of a game from one to the other so we can play multiplayer together. He has taught me how to come from 8th place every time to 1st and 2nd places finally. We have so much fun texting and sharing pictures we draw. Also he loves the record feature and entertains himself with the different sounds it makes and he makes. The Brain Games are fun and he even tries to play them. I play them for my brain health. There are more features we are trying out together and will add more experiences every day. That's the best thing about getting this XL, we have had "quality and quantity" time together that we have not had before. He asks every day when he wakes up, "Grandma, can we play on the DSi's now?" I am so glad I purchased the DSi XL!

I think this is the best thing I can own when it comes to video games. I can play educational games as well as puzzle games. I am visually impaired, so a large screen size is perfect for me when it comes to playing games. I play solitaire and mahjong quite frequently, the tiles and cards are large enough for me to see. I really don't use the internet feature very often, because the memory isn't sufficient for that usage, but I don't mind.

These things ROCK! as a teaching aide, as a gaming device, as a camera on the quick. most other hand held electronic teaching aides cost as much or MORE and do only one thing TEACH ONE THING. Plug in READER RABBIT, America's Test Kitchen, Mario Bro's, these all fit into this thing Instantly. WOW!. but with limited Game Boy reverse compatible acceptance (read below).However!!!! (#1) Don't buy the older Game Boy Games expecting them to work. ONLY the ADVANCED Game Boy devices will work. Nor will the memory expansion card made for the DS-LITE. We had to buy an older game boy to play the handful of games I bought thinking these would fit the DSi-XL. NOT!!However!!!! (#2) Let me say firstly that nintendo customer support wifi group is a superior support outfit. They are the most advanced, helpful customer support I have EVER encountered. BUT!! After two+ hours of detailed help & personal assistance, the tech had to conclude that IF anybody out there is using the APPLE, G4, Original AIRPORT WIFI DEVICE, you cannot use the wireless internet surfing feature for the DSi-XL. I have failed to get a connection at my local McDonalds (free wifi) also. Not sure why that is. So I'd say there's some bugs in the wireless portion of this device. BUT the core features are worth owning this item.

My little boy has been begging us for a DS for 3 1/2 YEARS! and we always promised him that he would get one when he turned 7 years old .. soooo... you can imagine the anticipation - the excitement - the expectations! I am so pleased to report that this DSi gift lived up to ALL expectations :-)

Most of the time my friends cringe when I tell them that I intend to upgrade something. But when Nintendo released its announcement regarding the DSi XL I had a lot of people nodding their heads in agreement that getting one would be a great idea. I am legally blind and have had to return or trade in games for the DS Phat because I could not properly see numbers and text on that system -- each purchase I made for my DS was a gamble and even if I liked a game it could lead to major headaches caused by heavy eye strain.I got my DSi XL on Sunday and I am very pleased with the system. It seems to have fixed much of my text and number issues, as well as allowing me to notice details about my games that I could not before. Ratatta has a little tooth coming down out of its mouth. Scyther's wings have two parts to them. Mankey has a patch of caramel shading on the back of its head. You get the idea.Personally all the games that I have put inside my DS (Pokemon HeartGold, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass) look great. Sound quality is excellent although I had to come up with a new way to hold my stylus between battles in Pokemon because I kept accidentally turning that down (I'm left handed.)For me, April is going to be the "Month of the DS" as I get a few titles that I had avoided before for fear of vision issues. I am very relieved that I waited until I got this to put Fire Emblem in as I would likely have had trouble otherwise.I am very satisfied with my new DS. I find it perfectly comfortable to hold, too. This may be because I was use to the DS Phat / Original so I never used a Lite or regular DSi to alter its weight. Anyway, this system gets 5 stars from me. Am I excited about Nintendo 3DS? Sure! But I will have lots of time to enjoy lots of games on my DSi XL before picking the new system up even becomes something to start thinking about. Nintendo has made my DS experience 93% better and that is a very good thing.

I was very excited about this DSi ever since I heard about it, and having received it I am very happy with my purchase. I already had a DSi but I like the monstrously large screens on the XL and this special edition was a perfect excuse as I sort of collect these things too anyway. The "Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary" print and special logos on the top are very well done and are under the surface so will not scratch off, and the red is a nice sort of darker shade solid red. Glossy on the top surface and a pleasant matte finish around the sides and back which is great because you can avoid fingerprints this way.The ONLY downside to the DSi in general, are the DSiWare games, in which once you purchase them, they are locked to that specific system. So for me who had a handful of titles downloaded on my older DSi, I could not transfer them as Nintendo won't yet allow it. More people need to complain to them about that!Anyway, all in all, very satisfied, highly recommended. A MUST for collectors and definitely worth it for first time DS buyers or anyone who likes the screen size here and wants a great library of games available on the platform.

There are so many types of games for the ds systems that it is ridiculous. I use the camera lot to take pictures with my kids. The wifi works great at places like Mathis Tire, Barnes & Noble, and Star Bucks. I pre-ordered the 3DS. I saw that the size was smaller & the games were high in price for a handheld so I stuck with the XL version. I am overstocking my self with games in case they stop making regular ds games. It is nice to play for 30 minutes or so when you get a break at work, waiting for an oil change, or just trying to unwind at home.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my nephew a little over a year ago. Shortly after one year the DS just would not power on. It would not start even after troubleshooting according to Nintendo's suggestions. I know my nephew can only play on weekends so this is not being used everyday like a computer. I'm just wondering what is one's expectation for these types of electronic gadget? My only comparison is a WII console that went on 'blink' 2 days after one year warranty expired. Lucky for me that I called right away and the customer representative was nice enough to let me get it fix for free. Again, the WII was only used no more than once a week for the first year, very 'lightly' used. Is this Nintendo or do others have similar quality issues? It's hard to believe with millions units sold that I got so 'lucky' with both.

Nintendo DSi XL - Midnight BlueI originally purchased this for my son, I tried the built in Brain Age and became hooked so I purchased my own. It is very addictive and gave me a slight headache as I went over the training modules.In the beginning I was pegged as a brain age of 64 but after 2 weeks of 30 minutes of training every day I am a youthful age 25 in Math and 21 in Arts and Letters.As our brain starts to deteriorate after age 20, age 20 for brain age is ideal. If you have a DSI or the DSI XL that has Brain Age built in, I would mandate that the child/children put in some training every day.As you get more daily stamps for returning to train, more programs are unlocked. It is loads of fun and my brain is reversing in age.FYI- there are parental controls that you can use to turn off wi-fi or set limits on what rating of games can be played in the unit.

Not sure why this doesnt have all 5 star reviews, its that good. The screen size is much larger and better than the old DSi and the entire unit looks supersized.This is NOT too big for a small kid, my 4 year old loves it, cant get it away from him. It took him about 15 minutes to get used to Mario Cart game and driving while holding down the A button, but by the end of the day he was in 1st place every time. I suggest you buy the screen protectors and install immediately if you have little ones in the house.The older boys have been playing it too, thought they were maybe too old at first, but then caught the wife playing and I am having fun with it too, I may have to buy another one.Happy to find out that WPA2 is supported Wi-Fi security settings.Charge time is not long maybe 2 hours and it stays going long after I would have thought it couldnt. We keep getting interest from other people wanting to know what it is or where we got the SUPER DSi, I just tell them go to Amazon.com.

This was a present for my son for Christmas. At 8 years old, he had already had a DS Lite, which packed up after almost 2 years, so an uograde was in order. He loves this one. It has cool features like a camera, recording funtion, some sort of picture comparison/distirtion function which the kids find hilarious. It even has wifi, so mutli player via wireless connection and surfing the net is all at their fingertips. I recommend stringent control of the internet function though if its for a childs usage.Sturdy unit, good resolution. Highky recommend. Pricy, but worth it.

Skipping the history of the DS, NIntendo always offers something "better" each year around this time. I, like many, wait for the "big" one. I believe this is it. This limited edition DSI XL has to be the cherry on top of the cake. I missed out last year on the DSI package that was priced for the DS Lite, which included various Mario games.The DSI XL features a full internet browser and a much bigger screen. This screen allows you to use the touch screen with greater ease. Pokemon Ranger, Metroid, Zelda, and many other games are now played easier with a bigger stylus and screen.To compare: My little brother now has a DSI and I have a DSI XL. We both play Pokemon Ranger, but he has more trouble drawing the rings around the Pokemon to capture them.Although the cameras were not improved, it is not enough to knock the DSI XL out of the race in hand held gaming. Neither should the games that are pre installed hold it back. It is what it is. A limited edition version of an already successful gaming system.

That's what I did and now I have 20$ on my Wii virtual console just sitting there...:'(. This does NOT work with the Nintendo 3DS shop! Just a word of warning. Great to use on Wii virtual console or DSi.

My little brother just loves this game, besides being able to play the lovable Mario World game and many more, it has many other fun things and when you're too bored of them you can just browse the web, it has Wi-Fi! I recommended it.

The bundle was a lot more then I expected; I was expecting the game cartrage, DSi system and a small game carry case. The case you get is big enough to hold 12 games, 2 stylus and you DSi.The DSi itself is quite beautiful, the contrast from the matte finish background and the slightly glossy decal is excellent, and the decal itself is well placed and doesn't look cheap.I have only played the game for a few hours but so far the story seems far more engaging then the other Pokemon games.

I purchased this to be able to play specific DS titles (e.g. Scribblenauts, Super Mario) that I hadn't had time for when they were released. I also wanted a device for PAX as you end up standing in quite a few lines with ample people to play with. I specifically choose the DSi XL for the larger screen and am glad i did. Do your research before buying anything and you will find this to be just about exactly what you would expect.My complaints are few but here they are:- No place to store the stylus when not in use. Easy to lose or forget.- Color choices. I dislike the bold red and blue options which left me with bronze. Bronze? WTF? I picked up a black case and didn't look back.

We previously had Ds Lites..the New DSI XL is so much bigger, my kids play it alot more...it has so many more features..I would recommend this product to anyone, we are really enjoying them..I play them too!
