Works great. It has a lot of options, most of which I don't need, but it's nice that they're there in case my needs change.It did take a while to set up, and the fact that it requires a CD drive was annoying when I tried to set it up using my ultraportable laptop (that lacks an optical drive). I'm not sure why you can't just use your browser to set it up. I eventually got it to work by copying the setup files to a USB keychain drive. The setup process is very slow for some reason, but quite easy.Most competing products have cryptic labels for the settings and un-helpful "help" text (you're screwed if you don't know what "SPI firewall" means etc.) but this product has good help text that actually explains what each setting does (what a concept!)

I have a lot of walls to go through between my base unit and remote unit. The netgear series has done a great job in delivering high speed wireless connection. Originally, I got the linksys series which just proved to be worthless for my situation.

NETGEAR RangeMax Premium Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNR3500)Great router with easy to setup features. I was weary since I has a laptop, xbox 360, and ps3, but this router worked great out of the box. It took only 5-10 minutes to setup and all my gaming consoles and my laptop were connected immediately. No Lag even when all three systems were on playing multiplayer. If your a brand loyal netgear person then this is your next step if your going Wireless N.

I bought the Netgear GW111T a couple of days ago (Feb 2008) at a local store because I needed a wireless card in a rush. The installation CD suggested I'd get an up to date version from the Internet, that downloaded without problems. The version is 1.5.0.2102. The install happened without a problem, the adapter connected without a problem. The connection speed is fast.However; in the two days I have had three blue screens (complete hard crash of the XP machine). The Blue screen clearly refers to the GW111T card.The sad thing is that NetGears documentation say "Just ignore the warning that the driver has not been signed, because this adapter has been tested thouroughly.I will try some other driver version & hopefully find a working solution.

This is the worst networking product I have ever used. When used IN THE SAME ROOM with a wireless router, it continually dropped down to a 1 megabit speed. It never performed anywhere near 54meg. Nearby, my other systems with Intel and Linksys adapters were consistently connecting at 54 meg and performing very well.The product is a dog! Don't waste your time. Consider almost any other adapter. I returned mine to Best Buy where it was purchased at an inflated price. (Didn't have time to order from Amazon.)

My husband is an IT tech he sets stuff like this up all the time and yet we cannot get these to work at all! Just like the reviewer CS it just will not connect to our XP system and fusses over the IP address. We have wireless, we've used it but for some reason this system just does not want to work. We will probably keep trying but for now this product is a bust for us.

Love it. I've used a wide variety of networking solutions, some bad, some good. This one is GREAT. I'm in an area with tons of wireless networks running and some of the other devices i have had have been pretty spotty. This one on the other hand runs very well. No loss of signal or dropped connections, its been good enough that i've even been running a server I use for development wirelessly.Connection speeds have been great as well. If you have multiple public static IP addresses I recommend using the FVS124g as your router with this product.Best wireless device i have used to date. I have used other 'N' devices that haven't been nearly as reliable.Draw backs are that it only supports N and A. G is not supported.

I have it trying to bridge a connection at maybe 150 feet and it doesn't work. A terrible waste of money for me.

I have a 6300 square foot house with great distances and walls from the router. I could not function without these extenders. Distance and physical barriers are no longer an issue.I bought 2 of them. My folks use one on their wing of the house, and I use 1 wherever I happen to be with my laptop. You can also just unplug the device and move it to another section of the house, or outdoors.It has worked flawlessly for the past year and a half.I do not have encryption enabled, though, because I do not have neighbors to worry about. That may be key to why it works so flawlessly for me.Since I bought the devices, I have had four different routers, from different manufactures, and each one automatically picked up the devices and configured them.You may, however, have to manually set the IP addresses on the Extenders. I did do that because I have more than one Extender. Also, some electrical outlets do not work with the device.One other issue I have sometimes is connecting to the router than disconnecting, and then connecting to the Extender. With my old routers, I had to reboot. My new router seems to have solved the issue.

I just moved in to a larger space with 2 levels and needed to replace my aging WGR614v1 wireless router. It worked fine, but in certain areas of the unit the signal wasn't strong enough. I did a lot of comparisons online and reviewed many customer comments. I was a bit discouraged at first to buy the Netgear due to many negative reviews, but I wanted to see for myself because my experience with them has always been positive.Setup took about 20 minutes to hookup all these devices using 128bit WEP and MAC Address Access Control List, ensuring that only my known devices can connect.1 - Desktop to LAN port.1 - ATT DSL modem1 - TiVo Series3 HD DVR - Wireless G1 - TiVo Series2 DVR - Wireless G2 - Laptops (IBM & Mac) Wireless G and AirportIn addition to these devices, when I bring up available networks on any of my devices, there are about 16-20 other accessible networks in my building. All these networks run various B, G, Super-G, MiMo technology and can cause lots of interference and routing issues. With the WPN824, I am able to get "Excellent" or "Very Good" connections from all my devices, even when all are powered on at the same time and connected. I'm not even using the MIMO technology feature and setting the router to pure G only mode because none of my end-points have compatible adapters.If you are getting dropped connections, I suggest that customers try changing their station channels to either 01, 06, or 11. See which gets the least amount of interference. Also, under wireless settings > internet service provider > Idle Timeout, set this value to 0 and not the default 5. Setting it to 0 means keep alive and will keep the connection between your router and ISP active at all times. I think customers who suffer problems connecting is partly due to how their ISP handles connections. I read customers having to reboot their routers to re-establish a connection. This is because most ISP's is not friendly to frequent connects and disconnects. My philosophy is, connect once and stay connected. So make sure to set your "Idle Timeout" to 0.So far I have had no problems with the WPN824. It looks really nice and can be placed just about anywhere in your house without having to see antenna prongs sticking out. Connection is great and working from home over IPSEC/UDP works great.

I ordered the Rangmax router/dongle pair. The router crapped out after 13 days. Rangemax tech support was useless. Tech support must be outsourced to India because they can poltely tell you to go to hell and eat up your time. I was fortunately able to return the router (to vendor: netgear had washed their hands of it).Then comes the WPN111: It works. Barely. Using there software, and following their instructions like sacred ritual, I got a signal so weak Windows wouldn't use it. Switching to the Windows manager, I have either a low or very low signal. My laptop, sitting next to the dongle, is a full five-bars excellent connection (TrendNet 'N' router replacing the netgear rat-cr*p). My D-Link 'b' also thinks I've an excellent signal.All the bad review prior to this, along with this, can be summed up into a single concept: however good they may have been: DON'T BUY NETGEAR.

The RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router is perfect, I've been using one at home for 6 weeks and it has performed flawlessly. I bought this as an upgrade to my previous Netgear router, which gave good service for two years, but I wanted Wireless-N, so retired the G. Set-up was easy, wireless connects are fast and reliable, and the optional switch-on blue flickering indicator disco lights are great for house parties. Netgear rocks.

I purchased this kit from Amazon as soon as they were available, as I was eager to replace my existing G-based bridges. Setup was relatively straight forward, and speeds were roughly double what I was getting with G; your mileage may vary. Unfortunately, one of the units has a habit of locking up or crashing completely every 4-24 hours. I opened a thread at the Netgear support forum, but I suspect this is a hardware or firmware issue. I should have really return these units to Amazon... but by the time I isolated the problem to one of the units, the return period had expired. Oh well, that's the price I pay for being an early adopter.

Has worked flawlessly with my iMac and a Compaq lap top since I got it about 8 months ago. Never a dropped connection. My house is steel framed which I anticipated might attenuate the signal but I use the laptop all over the house, outside, and across the street at my neighbor's with no problems. I would purchase Netgear again.

I've had nothing but trouble with this adapter for the two weeks that I've owned it. It installs pretty easily and seems to work well for a short while. However, after using it for a short time (10 minutes - 2 hours), it invariably loses the internet connection. In addition, the software fails to respond or responds improperly. The only solution is reboot, sometimes twice.If you google "NETGEAR WG111T problems", you will see that this is a pretty common complaint. NETGEAR's web site talks about this problem on one of the support pages. They blame the problem on one of the "Hotfixes" to Microsoft XP. (I am running XP.) Whatever. The fix they suggest didn't help me with my problem.After trying unsuccessfully to solve the problem for two weeks, I bought a Linksys wireless card. That solved my problem.

Running XP get a blue screen due to this card 3-4 times / wk. Searched for articles or updates on the Netgear site, but of course nothing is there and I'm already on the latest patch version. Other the the unreliability, reception is pretty good and speed seems good. I would rate it 4 stars if it didn't have the major issue of crashing my system almost daily.Since the wireless on my first Rangemax router froze almost daily as well, I can only assume there are general quality issues w/ Netgear products. Work has since been nice enough to replace the router, so we'll see if the 2nd version is more stable than the first.UPDATE: OK, so the 2nd router is working, but I ultimately removed this card from my XP machine because of all the crashes. I have since tried using it in a new Vista machine and have installed the latest Vista driver, but have gotten periodic blue screens in Vista as well triggered by this card. I'll be removing this from the new machine in the near future and it will end up in the old computer parts graveyard. Overall, not a good buy.

I had a Linksys SRX but wanted a second access point to complete coverage in house. The linksys was an older model and one complaint was that it would randomly power off i think mostly after power outages. I put this netgear product in the same location and got half the bars on each of the multiple laptops that i use in the same location i used the linksys. I changed the position of the access point every which way possible. The linkys has better range by far. Also the setup requires that you plug it into a computer and change IP settings and then after its set up any setting changes will require that you take it off your router, change ip settings etc etc. not impossible but far less easy than the linksys set up and a much bigger pain managing it after installation.

This thing does exactly what it's supposed to, and set up couldn't be easier. So why am I returning it? Because I left it and its' sister piece the XE102 in for only ten minutes, and when I went to remove them, they were so hot as I pulled them out of the sockets that I felt like I damn near burned my hand. Furthermore, they took an entire ten minutes to cool down! This CAN'T be a good thing. It's too bad, too, because they really work great---but not at the expense of burning down the condo.

I have been using Netgear for many years. I have the 624 router & the WG311T adapter in my son's computer, both have worked well now for a few years now. Got a new computer, dual booted w/XP & Vista, & thought I would try the WG111T USB adapter. BIG MISTAKE!! I got it to work in both OS's, but constantly had to reset in the 2 months I have had installed. Installation was not easy, took several attempts in both OS's before I got it working. I have been using Vista more often & was constantly having to reset, so I attempted to reinstall driver. BIGGER MISTAKE!!! This adapter is not VISTA friendly, I could not reinstall. When I uninstall driver before reinstalling, it does not completely uninstall in Vista. Reinstall just keeps adding additional adapters, same name followed by a number (I got up to #11). Called Netgear for help, after several failed attempts, they blamed it on Vista & told me to call MicroSoft. Did an internet search & found several other users having this problem, but found no solution. Ended up going out & buying anoher WG311T, which is what I should have done in the 1st place. I give it a 2 because it does work most of the time in XP. But I would not reccommend buying.

Hi All,I failed to read about how bad this unit is before I bought it. Mine overheats within 15min of downloading a decent file.SOLUTION - Go to Advanced Settings and change the TRANSMIT POWER to 25% or such. My range has stayed ok (however I am in a small apartment) and heating issue is holding so far. I have the USB stick hanging over my tower output cooling fan air flow also - what a JOKE. Maybe I should install a barfridge next to my box and keep it in that when I downoad!I have not got past 54Mbps (see similar comments in othe rreviews) and I have a 108mbps RangeMax wireless router in the next room!Overall it is NOT a good unit.Othre options? DO NOT switch to the Netgear PCI unit as it will Bluescren you on Win XP if you install the software it comes with (read reviews as to the workaround) and I have heard the D-Link PCI one is ok but may BLuescreen you on XP also.Here's holding out hope for the new Gigabyte PCI adapter coming out soon, other brands seem ok however have inferior speeds.Lesson learnt - read the reviews before you buy team!Cheers

I'm normally very cautious when purchasing new hardware and I always shop around for the best deals. In this case, though, I rushed in like a fool and bought this for $50 at Office Depot b/c I really needed Internet access at my new place.This adapter is horrible. It's supposed to get a very strong signal from where I am, but its signal strength is always low when plugged directly into my motherboard. When plugged into a USB 2.0 extension cable, I get very good or excellent signal strength, but it will often lose the signal when under heavy load. This is incredibly frustrating when I want to watch a streaming video, access multiple websites at once, or game. It also runs VERY hot with nothing in the way of keeping it cool. Horrible.

Take heed of the other reviews for this product, it is as bad as they say. It overheats when left plugged into the the USB port or adapter cord and will not function properly after about 1-2 hours. This also will constantly disrupt the driver, and you will find yourself constantly reinstalling the unit.If you have a situation where your computer is powered-on only occaisionally and you access the internet for only a few minutes at a time, it might work for you. However, the meager savings you might enjoy over a more stable and useful unit hardly justifies the expense of this adapter even for that atypical application.I am surprised that Amazon even sells such trash as this!
