This product really sucks and no one should buy it. On a VISTA basic machine - turns off all the time, and doesn't have strong reception. Replaced it with PCI card from Linksys which is much better. I would just stay away from all of Netgear's stuff -- i used a PCI card from them which also didn't work.

I bought this almost 2 months ago and i am very satisfied with the product. I dont have any hiccups in the connection nor have i experienced anything negative. My only concern about the product is that it overheats within an hour's use and not sure if that would be harmful in the long run.I recommend this product.

I chose this combination wireless router and USB print server because I needed both those functions and wanted to keep the equipment/wiring quantity down. However, the print server failed with our Dymo LabelWriter 400. This was unfortunate but not entirely unexpected. Printer compatibility is hit-or-miss with most of these.I solved this problem with a separate Netgear USB Mini Print Server (Model PS121), which was reported to work by Dymo. Now we can print wirelessly to our laser and the LabelWriter.Overall the functionality is fine. I think it compares favorably to my home network's Linksys WRT54G, though I would have simply bought another Linksys if I'd known up front that the integrated print server isn't compatible.

Purchased Netgear WGX102 and used it in conjunction with Netgear XE103. It was truly "plug-and-play"! It did exactly what was advertised it could do. It worked without having to install the software (but installation would be needed to encrypt the network). The wireless signal was strong but it doesn't go through concrete walls/floors, so we purchased 4 Netgear EX103 wireless access points to put in different rooms in the house. Good product for instances where one wireless access point doesn't reach all areas of the house.

I bought this wireless card when my on-board ethernet died. Although I'm very tech savvy, I found installing the software for this card difficult. It didn't work out of the box with my Windows XP machine. I found that I had to first download and update the firmware before the card started working. Finally, if you're using this with Windows Vista, you're out of luck. Netgear doesn't have drivers for Vista.

I got this card and the matching rangemax router, and both were up and running quickly, and are as fast as my wired connections. I did have some rough spots on the card installer and wizard, but with a little fiddling I was able to work it out. For the price (you can get the card and router together for a song on either Amazon or Tiger), I couldn't be happier. But given the number of people who have had problems w/ the wizard, I'd suggest it's best for people w/ medium to high knowledge of networking. For those folks, it's really hard to beat this deal. If you don't feel comfortable in manual configuration of wireless gear, I'd go with some other product.

I retruned the product to Amazon and have not yet received my credit for the return. The product did not work as advertised. Would not retain configuration across cold boots of the device. When ever there was a power failure I had to reconfigure the device. I had purchased two of them and both of them had the problem. The DDNS does not work. Netgear acknowedgeds the problem, however, they are not willing to put out a firmware release to fix it. Instead they suggested I purchase another one of their products which was less secure, but has DDNS that worked. This after nearly two weeks of dealing with technical support with speech that I could hardly understand and that did not even know about the DDNS feature.

I have a RangeMax 240 Router in our house that has performed well for a year. So I thought of buying a compatible adapter card (WPNT511) to maximize the performance. I followed the instructions, which is to load the software first, to install the card. When the installation prompted for card insertion, I followed and it froze the laptop. If I manually unplug the card, the computer would unfreeze (and even perform keystrokes I have had entered during the freeze). I thought the card was not compatible with my computer's particular setup. But when I tried it with a second laptop (completely different brand/setup) it freezes in the same way.So instead, I tried avoiding the software, and just use Windows to install the driver and manage the wireless. I got that to work maybe 5% of the time, the rest would result in the same freeze until I remove the card. After searching online, I found that I am not the only case experiencing this or similar problem with the product.I looked on NETGEAR's website and found that there are no firmware updates available since the initial release in 2005. Apparently, the card has been phased out in favor of the newer RangeMax NeXT series (including WN511B & WN511T).I would avoid this card and look at the newer, and probably better supported, RangeMax NeXT cards. If you could wait (and has it been a long wait) I'd suggest waiting till they ratify the 802.11n spec so that companies can start making inter-compatible adapters/accesspoints.

I am surprised at all the negative reviews about this router. I have had some dropped connections but far less than when I was using a Linksys router and the signal (range) on the netgear is much better. I am only in a 1000 sq ft apartment but couldn't get reception with the Linksys at one end of the apartment, with the Netgear it is not a problem at all. Set up was easy and I have been happily using it for about 9 months now.

I have had frequent blue screen crashes, with error messages that make reference to the WPN111 as the cause of the "stop error". Netgear customer support was virtually useless. I was told to download and install an updated driver, which I did, but the problem is still there. The crashes usually occur during large file downloads, but sometimes they occur almost randomly. There doesn't seem to be any obvious solution to this problem, and I will probably switch to another product instead.

A month ago I bought the Netgear WGT624 Version 2 wireless "Super G" router, on the basis that it was affordable and that Netgear had always given me good service. Having professionally installed networks in the past, I have always been happy with Netgear's commercial products and was expecting this one to be the same quality. The router was super easy to install and set up, their setup wizard was great, and when it worked, the router was blazing fast. I only got to use the cable connections, never got time to setup a wireless connection. As other reviewers have said, it was setup and running within five minutes of plugging it in.***CAVEAT*** - It worked GREAT for two days, then began to randomly drop the LAN connections, resulting in the dreaded "Network Cable Unplugged" message (search for "netgear wgt624 network cable unplugged" or search Netgear's forums for pages of similar complaints with no resolutions). This got worse, beginning at a few times per day, finally getting down to every few minutes - it now only worked a few times per day! After a week of swapping NIC's, cables, and confirming settings, I finally broke down and e-mailed Netgear tech support - who was kind enough to reply after two days with the same things I had already tried (confirm settings, hardware reset, update firmware, etc.), and a request for more detailed system info if the problem persisted. Even with the most current firmware release, it would not work reliably - so I sent them back every detail they had requested but got no response after a week. When I finally called them, I got their tech support department in India who confirmed that I was eligible for free tech support (they only offer it for 90 days from purchase, then you have to pay) and then began to go over the e-mails we'd swapped. After 10 minutes with no luck, he suggested that I try the Beta version of the firmware release, AND that this beta version would void my Netgear warranty. After making this suggestion, he said goodbye and hung up in the middle of the conversation. When I immediately called back to India, I got a different tech and was told that I was already out of the 90 day free tech support period (I bought the router a month ago mind you) and that I would have to pay for any support or to get the router replaced under the warranty. After some argument, he finally agreed to help me, but found that the router was indeed defective - and pointed out that there is a known problem with these particular models and he could not guarantee that a replacement would work any better. In order to get the router replaced under the warranty, I would have had to fax or mail my receipt to India (not a toll free #), and wait a week for them to confirm that my Router was within the warranty. After this was done, I would have to call them back and PAY for the "Extended Tech Support," since their computer showed that my router was out of the 90 day free support period (again, it was only a month old). If this return call to tech support proved that my router was defective, I would then get an RMA and have to either ship the defective router to India at my expense and wait three weeks for them to ship a refurbished replacement unit back, or pay them $30 to have a replacement shipped to me first, then ship the defective unit back to them at my expense.***SOLUTION*** - I returned the router and bought another brand. In searching the Internet, I found that the equivalent D-Link model (the DI-624) has strikingly similar problems so I bought a Linksys and have been happy thus far. I agree with the reviews that the Linksys is not quite as foolproof to set up, but it's worked great for two days now. We'll see.

Oh, how I wish I would have read all the reviews before buying this thing. I had a terrible time getting it to connect with my router, but eventually got it to work. I noticed the device ran quite hot (within in minutes of being plugged in), but foolishly ignored it. I left it on for 24 hours and came back to find my hard drive *and* motherboard blown. I can't pin it on Netgear's device, but it sure seems odd to me. After getting a new hard drive and a new motherboard, I am looking elsewhere to find a wireless Internet adapter. Save your $12.00! My little purchase cost me over $200.00, huge data loss, and a ton of time to reinstall it all.

I have this and use it with the matching router. I think if you do not have the matching router it may not be the right item. Many negative reviews, but few if any negatives with people using the matching net gear router. This is in my daughters walk in closet as far away from the router as can be and behind as many walls as in my house and still gets a signal strong enough to work. Just beware if you are using any other router than the net Gear wireless 824 V2. 4 star because it does disconnect about once a week.

Just purchased this router a week ago. It was recommended by a tech person. We have DSL service and needed a router that could handle three XBOX360s, a laptop, and a PC at the same time.Installation was a breeze. We were replacing an existing router and the wizrd walked us through the process in 20 minutes. No manual adjustments were required. Don't disconnect the existing router until instructed to.Range and performance improved dramatically. No longer have any 'lag' issues with XBOX Live. The blue light on top can be turned off. I have no problem with VPN access for work. Have not experienced any interruptions in service so far.

I have a Netgear router and this wireless USB adapter. I used the router WGT624 for several months just as a firewall directly hooked into my computer and never had any problems. A few days ago however I moved my computer and decided to use this USB card and have had nothing but problems since. Half the time on start up my computer will not be connected so I have to reboot. Sometimes multiple reboots and then it still doesn't work and I have to unhook everything, router, cable modem, etc. I don't know how or why this happens but it seems to make everything stuck and nothing can communicate again until I do this. This has happened several times so I am not imagining this. I try various things but ultimately I have to shut everything down and actually unplug the modem from the power source for a few seconds then start everything back up. I have cable and this is a procedure they have you do sometimes if things get locked up, usually when you have a bad connection. I didn't have to do this when it was just hooked into the router, but with this USB piece of junk I am doing it every day, sometimes several times a day. Then it shows a connection of like 55% and the router is in the very next room. That is with the door open, not 20 feet away. Even now as I sit here writing this the little computer on the task bar showing my connection has dropped to yellow. At least it hasn't changed red...........crap, just did, not freakin kidding! This is absolute junk which I would take back except I got it in a package deal with the router and I bought it a long time ago but never used it till now. When it does work it is quick. But WHEN is the key word there. Do yourself a favor, BUY SOMETHING ELSE! Don't corporations test this crap before they mass market it?!?

I have been using Netgear products for several years, and the FWG114P for over a year. I have about 20 of these in the field. They operate in extreme weather conditions (encased in polystyrene) as well as offices. It is currently my overall router of choice.PROS-Great all around router for the money-Easy to configure with lots of options-DHCP server is rock solid-Rubber Ducky antenna is removable with standard SMA connector-Supports VPN-Supports WEP and WPA-Works extremely well with wireless broadband internetCONS-Need to upgrade to latest version of software (1.07) if it's not already on there-Versions 1.03 and earlier have internet disconnect problems-Doesn't seem to play well with all versions of PPPoE (will drop internet connections even at latest version of software).-Have had some compatibility problems when using site blocking-Needs to be able to block by IP as well as site name/text stringsOverall I am very pleased with this router, although it doesn't seem to work in 100% of the situations. I'm not sure any of them do, actually.

I ordered this when I got a new Dell desktop and needed to connect with the wireless network in my home. It was easy to set up but that is the end of the good news. This adapter just randomly looses its connection to the network. In the space of one hour, it will loose its connection at least twice, if not three times. Reconnecting is no problem - I just click on Repair and it goes through the motions and connects back right away. I reinstalled it a few times but the same thing happens. This is a very irritating feature, especially when I am using Skype! I have had enough and I am ordering a new adapter from a different manufacturer!

I wish I had researched Netgear more thoroughly before I bought my wireless gear from them. I regret it. Despite good editorials, their products break down with astonishing regularity. My first WPNT511 was bad out of the box, the next one broke down in under a year. If that isn't bad enough, their scripted, plastic technical support seems to be designed more to deliver infuriating platitudes and block the customer from getting any meaningful resolution to their problem (that might cost Netgear an extra penny) than to be sincerely helpful.Consider this a "danger sign." You may choose to ignore it, but be ready for the consequences.

This works as advertised, I just wish it was a little easier to just add an access point to an existing network to provide a larger area of coverage. I was able to get it setup in this way, but it took a little research.
