I've bought this set of radios 3 times now. The first set got stolen out of my car, then I've bought two more sets since. Comes with 110V and 12V chargers headsets, etc. Great value on good radios, I've gone through plenty of radios that were alot cheaper, but these are really a good deal that delivers on what you will expect from them.
I also love the weather band scanner and the ability to monitor 2 separate channels at the same time. If you are coordinating fairly complicated events it allows you to place different people on different frequencies to keep the chatter from becoming confusing, while giving those that need to be involved with both channels the freedom to do that. Before this, I had to carry multiple radios at the events that I was hosting.

We use these at our construction site for flagging the cranes & keeping in touch with other co workers. They work great. They can be complicated to set up having lots of options & features. The communications are much clearer & cleaner with these radios compared to the equally priced motorola's & Unidens we have. Our jobsite is fairly Un-obstructed & we get about a mile of usability. I don't see anyway to get the 36 mile range they advertise but perhaps my jobsite has more obstacles than I'm figuring. I highly recommend them for fairly close use. I can't honestly say good or bad about them past the one mile range. We use the lower channels & the owners manual says they have much more power on the higher channels. Irregardless. We love them & they are waterproof

It works great when you're standing right next to the person you want to talk to. Otherwise, the line of sight range is ca. 1.5 miles at best. I got 4 of them, and the battery on one died almost immediately.

The battery on one of them stopped working after one week and no one seems to want to return my phone call so I could get some help with it.

Works within a couple miles; but I don't know about 36-miles. Love that it recharges so we don't have to worry about batteries.

Works Great as expected, We take this camping and use it to stay in contact when one of us goes for a walk and when backing up the trailer. So much better than yelling back and forth in a quiet campground. LOL We wore out our old Motorolas. Used to tow my 30' boat. The wife would follow and block traffic so I could change lanes. We used radios to communicate this move. Looking forward to many more years using these new Midlands.

works ok. I guess for 36 miles you have to be in a dessert with no hills or trees or buildings. Where I'm at 4 miles down the road and that's all she wrote

Radio's work well. However, one of my radios quit working after the first use. Also, one of the headsets quit working during its first use. Midland said to send it back to them and they will look at it. I know electronics have issues from time to time but its just frustrating having to send something back after you use it one time.

Battery packs dead w/in 2 years and will no longer recharge nor hold charge thus I must use 4 AAs instead.
Batteries and all other "accessories" are not covered under 3 year warranty so I'm SOL on the battery packs.

This is not the typical review of this item but we used it as a play toy for my little girl and she loved it. Taught her what a Two-Way radio was and she quickly learned how to work it. Battery last for a long time and the ergonomics on this thing is great. Worth the purchase.

Great Sound. We were using cheap Motorola's and the sound was terrible. We could barely understand anything from anyone in our car club when we traveled together. And they couldn't understand us either. But these sounded great and the only time it didn't sound good is when someone else with poor quality radios talked to us. The battery lasted for several days of having it on and talking. We charged them at home for a full day and didn't even need to use the car adaptor for a 3 day road trip.

I purchased this set of radios so that my family and I could communicate between cars on a long vacation. On the first day of the vacation the radios were amazing! By the end of the day one of the radios had stopped working..I thought the battery was rundown... I charged it... still dead...no matter what I do, it is still dead..so I have 1 radio that works great and 1 radio completely dead. (it is not the battery pack as either batter pack works fine in the working radio). I really wanted to like these radios..and since I bought them in advance of our trip (so I wouldn't have to do last minute things), it looks like I can't even return them to amazon... very sad. this really hurt my family's ability to communicate during hours and hours of car riding.

I'm on my second pair of these radios (lost one overboard) and have been using them for over a year skiing, hunting and boating. They are definitely waterproof -- no problems there. Range and clarity are better than other models I've used, especially in the forest. The charge lasts a long time with conservative use, even in cold weather. I like the chargers and accessories that are provided. Wish they were smaller and lighter, but I'll continue to use them because they do the job.

GTX1050 - I bought a pair of these last summer for several reasons. One so I could talk with my son upstairs. We have had good distances of about 0.9 mile while I am in my house and my son going to the store. Up a family large hill. Not bad for a line of sight radio.
We have had good luck with a 3 miles distance while fishing, hiking on our local river. I'd say not bad for mountain train. We have not yet tried the licensed channels or repeaters so that might help distances a lot.
In my opinion I have been using CB/HAM radios for over 49 years.
These are a great TEOTWAWKI, SHTF, BUG OUT, G.O.O.D BAGs
Great size to use mylar bags as a Faraday bag in case of a EMP.

I purchased this product on April 25th, 2014 to use on my 2-week long vacation. I tried the product out at home before departure, and it worked. But when I started my vacation, one couldn't be turned on. I tried switching the batteries and recharging both of the radios on the charger, but nothing I did worked and the one radio still doesn't work. This made me want to print out a return label and ship the product back, but the place I went to had no internet connection. Amazon also stated that, "This item cannot be returned.Return Window expired on May 26, 2014," but that was right in the middle of my 2-week vacation. Since it's the first time I'm using a product from Midland, it makes me really disappointed in this product. I would not recommend this product to others.

We use these on our farm. While they are slightly larger than our older model, they seem to be sturdier. They will survive all of the bumps while running around on a 4 wheeler.

Great product. Works as indicated. Don't believe all the complaints from people as far as the radios not having the distance advertised. If you wanted to call someone 20 miles away, use your phone.

These are neat radios, but wished it didn't beep every time you release the button to talk. Other than that these reach a long way.

Good units. The user interface is complicated - keep the manual around. The batteries are hard to replace or swap out for AA batteries, which is a nice feature. Normally you just leave them in and charge them.

Best radios for the price. Our group deer hunt in hilly terrian and we find that they range easily 1/2 to 3 miles depending on if you're in a valley. Other that that we have ranged around 5 to 15 mile if you are on higher points of land. Power pacs will last more than a day if left on steady.
