We use them on camping trips, car to car, and they seem to work for our needs. We haven't tested the range just yet.

These Units offer way more features than my wife & I use. What we use them for, they are perfect. My wife is pretty mush bed bound, and we use them so she can call me if needed.

Good radios with lots of range, but terrain does effect them so much, I think radio manufacturers need to better advertise the mileage restrictions for differing terrain. I read the fine print before I purchased and still get several miles out of them unless in hilly terrain.

Nice, complete kit / pair of radios. I like the water-resistance and rugged build. Included headset is a nice touch. Ability to use both rechargeable batteries and AAs makes it that much more versatile.
I don't like the charging light not turning green (or another color) when battery is fully charged. I also wish the backlight can be disabled in the menus. The menus are fairly intuitive, but the abbreviations may be a bit cryptic for the non-radio enthusiast.

It has notably better range than my other FRS/GMRS radios, and I like the solid build quality. The dual-charger works well, has a separate indicator for each radio, and they snap in nicely. It doesn't look like the charger lets up when they're full, so you can't leave them parked there for long.
The battery lasts about 24hrs of infrequent use and standby, which is very nice.
Volume gets nice and loud, and microphone sensitivity seems about right.
One of my radios has a fickle PTT switch, where you have to press it just so to stay on. If I had caught this sooner, I probably would have swapped it out. The option of using AA batteries is a nice plus, as the rechargable packs won't last forever.
Feature wise, there's not much to talk about. You can download the manual online and look it over. It has your basic channel settings, CTSS and Digital code squelch, adjustable power output. No memories or presets.
I would love to see the test that demonstrates "36 Miles" of range, but overstatement seems to be the norm for all of these.

Opened the package. Fully charged the batteries. Everything worked fine. Used the radios for a few days. Put the radios back on the charger. Batteries won't charge. Not sure if the problem is with batteries or the charger. AA batteries work fine, so I know the problem is either with the charger or the batteries.

Performs well. Battery performance could be better. Not as long as advertised. Clarity of signal is great without obstruction and functions well in areas with obstruction. I dropped mine a few times as a Mountain Bike guide and they hold up very well. For the money this is a good buy.

I don't know why this product says 36 miles. It will Never get over a mile. We even tested them out in the country where it was completely flat, sunny, no clouds, Still never got over a mile.

I bought four of these to use during a film shoot in town. One of the four was completely dead right out of the box. I was in a pinch and didn't have time to return them for another pair, so I went rogue and opened it up. Sure enough I noticed one of the metal pieces that should be touching the battery compartment was loose inside the back. After some MacGyver work with some tools around the office I put it where I thought it should go, sealed it up and boom! Charging like a charm! Really though, who should have to do this to a brand new item?
They worked well in town within a mile or so, but there weren't many buildings blocking our radios, but I highly doubt they can really get 36 miles on an open flat space. They worked well enough for what we needed, but I am a little nervous about how long they will continue to function due to the quality control issue.

This radio set is alright, I guess. The range listed in the description is definitely overestimated and one of the batteries stopped holding a charge after only 2 months of use (the 2nd radio battery is still holding a charge after 10 months). Not the best quality, but I am not going to complain too much for the price. Nice features, but be sure to keep the instructions with you to be able to access them all. Some of the directions to get the radio to do certain things are pretty complex.

Love these. Awesome walkies overall. One complaint is the boom mic/head phone. The ear piece is NOT compfortable. I usually wear a tight beanie that holds it in place rather than trying to keep it in my ear. Also...the headset is cheaply made. To Midlands credit, the two that broke were quickly replaced for free. So kudos...but I'd rather they went a bit more ergonomic and robust on the the headset.

when I first use them,I cant charge them anymore.the power supply is bad.other things are good.what should I do?only use AA batteries.get my rechargeble batteries away.return them,my god,I am in china.I hope someone tell me what should I do?

First thing I did was put these radios on the charger, per the instructions. Let them go 24 hours. Then my buddy and I took them out to his ranch. Fired them up and used them to communicate back and forth between the target and the shooting line (as we were sighting our rifles that day).
They were on for maybe one hour before one of them experienced speaker failure. At first we thought it was just the squelch or channel interference. After troubleshooting extensively (including plugging the ear piece into the one with the speaker issues and experiencing no problems with the ear piece) we concluded the speaker was shot.
No rhyme or reason for it, since they basically sat on the table near us all day.
They were on for maybe one hour before one of them experienced speaker failure. At first we thought it was just the squelch or channel interference. These are really good radios. I use these to keep in touch with my son while he hikes in the mountains around the house, when he's on a peak he can reach out quite a few miles. Dont drop them though, the camo is reallly good.

Good kit, works well but the battery indicator goes from full to empty in the space of one minute, you can't rely on it at all. Battery charger base is pretty cheap too.

Works great for hunting. Don't expect 36 mile range. We us our radios in a woods/swamp area and we have 200 acres. The radios have a hard time reaching from the swamp to the other side of the property

Very nice radios! Ear piece is a little uncomfortable but everything else was great. Haven't had a chance to test the max range but they worked well for the one hunting trip I have used them on.

Works great. Recently used during our family trip to Playa. We could communicate with the kids throughout most of the resort. Also great during ball games when the kids want to go to the concession by themselves.

I've been through several radios and I figured I would give this company a try because the reviews were good. I've had these radios for less than 6 months and already we have problems. We use these radios at work, one is kept in the office on a desk and the other stays on the hip of my husband about 200 feet away. We take very good care of them and keep them charged. Recently, and for no foreseeable reason, one of the radios has started to sound muffled, as well as has static sounds when the radio is not even in use. We have not used these radios outside of the realm of what they are made for, which is outdoor use. I have to admit that I've yet to contact the company because I'm not ready to be given the run around (the other companies claim they can't honor their warranties because the radios were used for a business and not personal reasons which makes no sense at all). I'm going to give this low stars until I contact the company who will hopefully replace my radios. At that time I will update my review to let everyone know what happened. On an up note, the radios have lived up to their claim of the ruggedness, and when they are working properly they are the perfect radios.

I ordered me a set of these radios & they have so many features that i can't write about all of them it would take nothing less of a novel to tell all of the good & useful features that these radios pack I may have to get a FCC License to use the GMRS Channels & thats pending now back to the radios I love everything about the 2 ways they have that VOX hands free use & a set of head phones & they work perfectly it did take some adjusting to get me dumbo ear to fit the head phone i will be using .I chose the Midland GTX1050VP4 because my dad has a older set of them & they ar estill working as good as my new one so that tells me that they are in for the long haul dad bought his over 10 years ago so the quality is there & i am looking forward to using mine this up coming hunting season & the 36 Mile range is awesome but we live deep in the mouintians of Va so i dont expect the range that i would get out in the open but we still will get 5 or more miles in these mountians . If you're wanting a good & extremely well made set of 2 way radios then buy you a set of the midland GTX1050VP4 2 Way radios from Midland
