I have 2 LaCie d2 Quadra external drives.One is a 200 GB I bought about 8 or 9 years ago. And a 320 GB I bought about 4 years ago.My 200 GB recently died on me. But, I think I got my moneys worth out of it. Luckily, I don't trust "any" electronic device and "burn" on a frequent basis... So, I did not loose any important documents or photo's.My 320GB is working great. And if that one died tomorrow, I would not loose anything... as I said, I burn frequently.I'm very surprised how many people here (who have posted on Amazon) use USB with LaCie instead of the 800 FireWire.FireWire is blistering fast!99% of my photo's or documents I "export" to my LaCie external drive take less than a fraction of a second to transfer.Importing back to my desktop or into a software program is just as fast.I am also surprised by the complaints of "noise". My drives are so quiet (while running), I hardly notice them.I wonder... LaCie originally was exported from Japan. Are they now being made in the USA? And if so...has the quality gone down because they are manufactured here in the USA. (Yes, I am cynical). If you own a Toyota that is made in Japan... it runs great. If you buy one that is made in the USA, those are the cars with the problems.Lots of good quality stuff comes from the USA. But, if it's a Union Job, forget it! These people have no incentive to take pride in their work. Why should they? If they do a lousy job, it doesn't matter. They still get their pay checks, bonuses and huge paid vacations. (just like congress).Anyway, based on my experience with LaCie, I won't hesitate to purchase another one to replace the 200 GB one that died.

This is a very unreliable technology from Lacie/AppleMy lacie 2tb littlebig disk started under performing after 3days.Its now Giving speed in the range of 20-30 MBPSChanged cables, laptop etc. even reformatted the drive.The product doesn't come with any international warranty.I purchased this product from USA. I am currently in India with this HDD. Lacie says I am eligible for replacement but I have to send back to USA.It was good till it was working. a very compact solution though.Beware and Best of luck. Hope yours doesn't fail like mine.

I purchased the LaCie 2Big Quadra 2 TB for the purpose of storage for my photography. I have an iMac that was filled to capacity, and would no longer operate due to the disk being full. It is set up so my iPhoto is stored on my LaCie, but it automatically openswhenever I use my iPhoto icon, so the interface is seamless. I had previously read the reviews on Amazon, and the fan on the LaCie is audible, but it does not bother me - it just is not that loud. So far, it has worked well for me, and I believe it is a good backup for precious files such as photos.

I have always used Lacie external drives and purchesed this because I wanted a big storage drive and something with USB 3.0. So I was looking forward to the experience. Ever since I have first started using it, it has had a mind of its own. Constantly turning itself on and off on its own. Whether the computer is off or on. The worst part is that the main blue power button doesn't even to anything., no matter what you try. This is one of the worst products Ive ever come across. And with no fix in sight from Lacie.

LaCie Rikiki 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 301909ive had my drive for almost a year now and im still quite happy with iti mainly use mine for stuff i download from itunes and to have a copy of my flash drive just in case it ever failsthis may not be the fastest dvive but it's a 5400 rpm laptop drive so its not too badi get 15-30 mb write and 25-40mb readu can play 720p hd from it no problem but it tends to lag on 1080i/p

Great drive. Easy to setup, quiet, solid, with multiple connections, and good-looking. Worked right away and no issues so far. Plenty of storage and good value.

This goes way beyond what you expect from an external drive, and it's better than adding any internal drive short of an SSD. Extremely pleased with the speed. I was also pleasantly surprised by the lack of noise, it's very quiet and I'd heard horror stories about how loud it was. I'm a music business professional and I'm using this as a boot drive for my music. I think I'm Thunderbolt for life now.

So far so good. After more than a year, I find myself wishing I had more of these drives to serve scientific data and results in a small university research group. Currently we operate three 8-TB and one 4-TB 4big Quadras. One is used to serve results via a public webpage (not a high demand site by any measure!) and rarely do we ever have more than one or two data processing jobs beating on a drive at one time. So, it is fair to say that we are not using them very intensively. However, they are critical to the mission of our group. Three are used with Windows 7 PCs and one with a Mac XServe---all via eSATA. (Note, I recommend using a Lacie eSATA controller card on an Xserve as we were not able to get a High Point eSATA controller card to talk to the Quadra.) In summary, the 4big Quadras have been a very cost effective solution for multi-terabyte disk space with the benefits of RAID in essentially a plug-and-play device. My only criticisms are: (1) The power supply is external and plugs into the unit with a simple barrel type connector. It is a very loose connection and can easily be accidentally pulled out if someone is moving items (like the cables) near the drive. Similarly, the power switch is a rocker type switch that can accidentally be turned off if someone bumps it. I recommend that Lacie improve these by adding a safety clip or a protective cover to prevent power disruption during operation. (2) The whole "designed by Neil Poulton" and the big blue eye-ball is really silly. Ditch the designer and the eye-ball (which is inconveniently located on the side opposite where all the important items are) and add a clearer diagnostic display on the side that really needs accessibility and visibility. I'm looking forward to seeing these improvements in a 5big Quadra configuration and 6 GB/s eSATA or USB 3.0 connectivity someday.

This is a great HD for the price. It loaded right up and worked perfectly. It was step by step on the screen, just click and go. Fast copy and playback is great. No issues here.

This is a great external drive, have a nice design, smooth interface with Macs. However, it has a less than 5" cable, it is really 'minimus' that's why I can't rate it higher.

I now own two of these beauties, and am considering a third. My first was a network 7TB. That was about two years ago. More recently, I purchased a 12TB unit to go with my new iMac 2TB 27 inch.I cannot say enough good things about the LaCie or the iMac. I've been pouring money into this 'stuff' since 1984 when the Mac first appeared in the market place. That was about six Macs and one lonely Dell ago. Greatest working combo I've used to-date.Oh yes, I have a LAN running about my home and photo studio. No Wi-Fi. Heavy use!

This is my second lacie drive, they both work just fine I recommend them.biggest problem have been the usb3 cards. software must be up to date, and ortry another PCIE SLOT!

The transfer speed is really impressive, as advertised. I copied my internal drive to the Little Big Disk and set it up as the new boot drive. There's plenty of room for all my files. I am very happy with the performance. The only downside that I see is that the Thunderbolt cable is not included with the box.

I bought 2 of these to use for media about 3 months ago. I hook them up to my tv in order to watch movies. It is stylish, fast and was only ~$115 at Best Buy for the 2gb.I would buy it again.

Be aware that eSATA does not work with Windows 7. This is a known issue as confirmed by LaCie Technical support. According to them this issue is "not limited to LaCie drives" That is a lie as I have two Iomega and one Seagate eSATA drives and have not had any problems. That is the usual tech support answer, when they cannot come up with a solution: that the problem is caused by someone or something else, not our product. Do not buy from LaCie.

This hard drive has a great amount of space to put all my video projects onto. It has a fast speed and is used really well to transfer things from my computer to other computers. I am able to store a large amount of projects and different things on it.

Pre-Ivy Bridge MBPs require the LaCie USB 3.0 ExpressCard/34 to attach LaCie devices using USB 3.0, and for this setup mounting typically requires a restart. When connected using slow USB 2.0 the drive, when idle, spontaneously disconnects and reconnects. Likely a strong performer _with_ Ivy Bridge-based Macs.
