I thought I should submit a review - from a non-IT, administrative-type user. We were required to get a digital scanner for our office and our company standard unit costs around $8,000. The person who handled the selection for us happened to know someone who purchased an HP Digital Sender and raved about it. We purchased ours for just over $3,000 saving our company $5,000! I have to add that that $8,000 unit I mentioned only scanned in B&W and the HP Digital Sender scans in both B&W and color! Other than having the machine installed by one of our IT people who wasn't familiar with the machine's operation and gave us no manual AND occasional email problems that are likely internal and not the fault of the Sender, we're THRILLED with this machine. Just this morning - I logged in, selected my scan settings, and scanned four pages in less than 30 seconds. By the time I put the dust cover back on the machine and returned to my office (10' away), my scan was in my email Inbox. This unit allows various image/quality/output settings AND has a pull-out keyboard (we found it almost by accident) so that you can type in your login info instead of tapping letters on the screen! I can't say enough, it is the best office equipment purchase made in our office since our IBM Correcting Selectric Typewriter! REALLY!

I set this scanner up and was scanning in about 5 minutes. Couldn't be easier. It's faster than my older 3570C HP scanner, and quieter. I have used it several days now with no issues. Seems to play nice with Mac OSX. It does exactly was it's supposed to do.

This is the 5th HP scanner or all in one device that I have had. I still have the others or they were working when I gave them away. The G3110 is terrible. It is hard to install. Even with the updated software I could not get it to install to one computer. It would work with another one so possibly in the first case the problem lies with the computer.However this scanner is very slow. The software is awkard to use. My HP scanjet 5470 is much easier to use and faster. I'm not sure what has gotten intao HP software designers but their recent scanner software is nothing to brag about.I would suggest advoiding this scanner. If you buy it get from someplace where it is easy to return when you are unhappy with it.

hi, I was hesitant to buy this scanner until I noticed that nearly all of the negative reviews were written in 2008, and several 5-star reviews were written in 2009. I confirmed with HP that there have been several driver revision in 2009, including updates in Dec 2009, and March 2010. I'm using the latest Mac driver (Mar 2010) on OSX 10.6, and I've had no problem with the scanner. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the speed is somewhat slower than my previos liDE 30 Canon scanner, and it doesn't have photo separation tech like that one did. However, all-in-all a good scanner. One last note... I love Amazon, but I found this scanner new for 40 dollars on e-bay.

Before you buy this item, you should know that HP does not sell replacement parts. And if you scanner goes out of warrantee, it's unfixable.I am an engineer and have discovered a flaw in the design of this scanner. If you should get mixed up with the power supply, and connect the wrong one, not only will it blow the fuse, but it will damage the most critical part in the device... The CCD pick-up. This happened to me. A 16.5-volt power supply was hooked up instead of the supplied 12 volt one. It didn't blow the fuse but it did blow the CCD pick-up.HP does not sell this part, so it cannot be fixed. It becomes Landfill instead. A ten-cent diode could have prevented this but HP had to cut corners. So it is we the consumers that have to pay, and help to destroy the environment as well. Think twice! Don't buy it!Don't buy any other HP scanners it all the same story.

I purchased this (not from Amazon, but fellow Amazon shoppers take note) a few days ago to scan my 35mm slides to digital format - the slide and negative tray, as well as the salesperson's spiel - suggest that this scanner is suited to that purpose. I first tested it on some B&W prints with no luck. I thought I had a defective product because it seemed to lock up and not scan. I took it to my computer service person and he went through everything and it scanned a document, very slowly. I came home and retried the B&W prints and they scanned, excruciatingly slowly (I just neglected to wait an unreasonable amount of time on my first attempt!). I then tried to scan four 35 mm slides in the slide tray. Even after reducing the resolution to achieve the quickest scan, 23 minutes later the scan was not complete.As other reviewers have noted, changing the settings is a clumsy process. The "help" feature is rather thin on info, the HP website technical contact doesn't list this product, the speed of scanning is best measured in geological time, and the existence of the slide and negative tray is tantamount to false advertising.If you aren't in a hurry, this might be ok to scan documents, otherwise, forget it.

This scanner did an okay job scanning a paper document to a PDF file. The software that comes with the scanner is very clumsy. One of the reasons I bought this scanner was the extra feature to digitize 35mm slides. Slides with very crisp images scanned to very blurry images. It did a very poor job for scanning film.

Purchased it on the basis that it appeared to be a network scanner - that is, a scanner with adequate built in functionality to perform scans save as pdf or image files and send them to a file server or an email client...Unfortunately not - it is dependent on a PC driving the scanner so, at its price, it is woefully inadequate.It does an adequate job of scanning - as long as you have a decently powerful PC driving it

I bought this HP Scanjet N6010 Scanner few weeks ago and today returned it. I just ordered an Epson S50 from Amazon.HP Scajet N6010 was my nightmere and wastes my money. It almost never works, bad softwares, slow, jamm almostall the time, fail to scan, not efficient at all, takes several pages instead of one by one.Victim like me should report to appropriate entity about this bad product. I wonder what the HPsenior management are doing?If you would like to purchase this product good luck!

We just got about 5 of these on base. The job I have is pretty much troubleshooting and fixing hardware/software issues with computers and select peripherals (including digital senders). After setting up 3 of these two of them started having the same problem with emailing color documents. Every page after the second shows up in blue (i assume them to be negatives of the actual images). I checked online and this seems to be one of the largest problems plaguing this otherwise really decent digital sender. The fix is to re-calibrate it but it seems to only work half the time. Im still currently troubleshooting because recalibrating it didn't work for me but it seem to had work for most people.Other than this the digital sender is pretty reliable and simple to use. If you don't want to send in color then just set it to black/white and it should send fine.

I purchased this scanner several years ago. I typically only scan several pages at a time. The machine continually jambs, I spend more time clearing, resetting the scanner than actually scanning the documents. For every one-page that it scans one-page jambs. It is very frustrating for a scanner that cost over $700 when I purchased it. At this price point, it should function much smoother. Now one side of the double-sided scanner is leaving black streaks.Positive point is the software interface and suite of software that came with the unit.

I have just bought a like new 7450c and scanned a textbook I used years ago. I am impressed that there haven't been a single mis-feeding. I have previously tried HP Scanjet 8250 which could be much faster if using the commercial driver but mis-feeding happened from time to time. This one is slower, but I can do other works while entrusting it with all the scanning.Tip: According to its manual, all the papers should be aligned to the left edge. As there is no guide on the feeder, paper tend to be pulled slightly to one side. After putting a cassette on the right edge, all pages go straight into the feeder.

This product came to me refurbished. It was in good condition and had all the parts. It was easy to install. The first couple of times I used it there seemed to be a problem in that after it sat for some period of time w/o use (I didn't track the time line) I would have to shut down the unit and restart it to get it working. However, that problem seemed to go away after the first 4-5 uses. Don't know what that is all about. Otherwise I am happy with the unit. It scans the documents quickly and cleanly.

We have few of these scanners. They are continuously jamming and we have had to replace the feeders on some of them. Cheaply built, I would not recommend these scanners. We have alot better luck with Canon scanners.

This scanjet has met every need I had and performs really well. There are a couple glitches with the software but after some use I've adjusted to it and now can work with it.The quality is excellent and I love the document feeder, which was the main reason I picked this scanner.If I could do anything to change it, it would be to make it easier to operate regarding the buttons on the front that explain nothing and the manual doesn't help. I had to work through the software and figure things out on my own. They COULD have made this into a great machine, but instead produced a product that leaves the customers disappointed and scratching their heads.

I bought the Scanjet G3110 primarily to bring forward to digital my 2" x 2" 35mm color slide collection. Scanning at 400 pixels per inch has produced great colors beyond 2000 x 2000 format. Importing the raw scan file into IPhoto for it's editing features, and display options, has produced a satisfying conversion update to utilize today's technology options. A new life for those images of mine, which haven't seen light in 39 years, has been an opportunity to leave a legacy for future generations of the family. The scanner is basic, with a solid 35mm slide or negative adapter built into the lid, has a versatile menu of scanning options for file save formats. It works! I would buy another, and another.

I just found this scanner at a yard sale for $20.00 bucks and its just great! I have a serious 11x17 scanner and yet another, older HP scanner and both are fine, but for $20.00 dollars, I now have a 'portable' that I can carry in a canvas tote bag and use in libraries (most libraries don't let you take out bound volumes of scholarly journals and/or magazines).Sure, not everyone needs such decadence as a portable scanner, but for $20.00 it was too good to pass up. Further, while a little slow (I would never use this full time), it seems pretty durable. So all you 'one star reviewers,' quit being haters!

I have had this scanner for about two years and it creates great scans. But I am completely frustrated with the feeder. I only use it a couple times a month but now might get rid of it.My issue is that it has a real hard time separating pages as they cycle thru the scanner. I now watch every scan to make sure it doesn't skip a page. I was hoping that it would allow me to individually feed each page and still create a multi-page PDF like my flatbed canon does. No such luck.I have had bad experiences with any page that has ever been folded or stapled and non slick paper like inkjet.

This scanner has only a 90-day warranty. So does the 4010. I wouldn't even consider them. The only HP home scanner with a 1-year warranty is the 4050. The Canon scanners also have a 1-year warranty, and I'm leaning toward the 5600.

This is a very good scanner. I have no idea what other reviewers are talking about. The picture quality is crystal clear. It looks just as real as the original picture put on the scan-bed. However, for a first time user I would not really recommend this as he or she may find it bit too advanced. But for an intermediate scan user or someone who has used scanners before, they should find it very good. My computer worked perfectly, it never crashed as other reviewers have claimed. If you have 2 GB memory at least, I see no reason for it to crash. However, there is no user manual in this scanner. So I think it is not designed for a first time scan user.

Just bought this one today and am returning it right away.The installation software on the CD did not work, saying that there a file called hpzrein01 has failed. Once I managed to download the 168Mb software from HP website, the problem again persisted. I've tried in two different laptops (Windows XP) and the problem was the same. In the end, I managed to just download the driver without the full software.The scans are horribly done. I wanted to use it to scan photos but it keeps on scanning the part of the lid that has the entrance for the negatives. This means that I would have to crop the picture to get the actual photo size. Add to this that the scan was super slow, I cannot believe this product actually came out the market.I am sorry but whoever at HP that gave the green light for this product to come out should look for another job. He would do HP (and the world) a favor.

Have had the 3570c for 4 years, connected to my mac. It's always been marginal, and lately virtually useless--even after reloading scanner software numerous times and troubleshooting. The software is horrible and extremely unstable.

I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. This scanner is quick and easy to use. Sure, it's a little noisy, but show me a scanner that isn't. My only complaint is that I can't figure out how to permanently change the settings, rather than change them every time I do a scan. But, I have no serious issues with this scanner and I think the people that do didn't install it right or something. Or, maybe because I bought directly from HP, mine is manufactured better. Yes, that really does happen. Anyway, this is a great scanner and ignore the reviews that say it isn't.
