On the whole, this is a good printer. Print quality is good for the price and it is quiet and reasonably fast. Sometimes it picks up two pieces of paper, which is annoying when printing double sided. Scanning is easy and effective.
However, what is really annoying, and accounts for my low rating, is the pop up message that I am using non-HP ink cartridges. I know - I bought them for less that half the price of the HP product, and they work well. I do not want my work to be obscured by a pop up that appears every few minutes. I am sure that HP want to irritate us into buying their cartridges - instead they have convinced me never to buy another HP product.

Bought this machine as a replacement for the kodak Esp 7 which was absolute rubbish this machine does everything we require and is very easy to use one point I would make is as with most of these desk top printers it's quite noisy in operation but nevertheless still a very good machine

We got this printer to replace a cheaper HP printer that had horrendous software/operation issues. I am pleased to report I haven't had any problems with this one so far... apart from being unable to configure Eprint for my iphone and ipad because the setup wizard crashed. However that's not a great issue.
I have printed photos and double-sided documents without problem and am happy with the quality. I think the printer is faster and quieter than my old model and I think ink usage is better. Overall I'm impressed so far!

It will do every thing I want it for, Had a HP before but the last one had a FAX on it, I HAVE NOT USED THE FAX FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS. So this printer was half the cost of my last HP.
I looked at four or five different printers and found that this HP Photo-smart 6520 e-All-in-one meet all my needs for printing Photo's.

Excellent printer. Easy to set up via the icon, and very easy to use. The double sided printing is a big bonus, and all print jobs have been good enough for home use. We have had no problems with paper sticking, the paper is kept in the same room as the printer and is therefore dry. I would recommend this model to anyone, both for price and quality. We have never had any problems with HP products as opposed to other makes. This was a very good buy. Compatible with Apple AirPrint and for computers with USB connectivity.

I purchased the HP 6520 all in one printer about a month ago, since it arrived it has served every printing need I have had with ease. This is not the first printer that I have owned, and I am pretty sure that is the same for most of you reading this. When purchasing this printer I considered a number of factors including, ink price, size, wireless accessibility and also my existing product compatibility.
Opening the box and installation was extremely simple, out of the box and printing with my idevices in a matter of 2 minutes, which was mainly due to trying to get it out of its excessive packaging. The windows installation disk completed no more than a minute later.
This printer has been used daily and not once has it dropped wifi connection, and has printed every time with high-end quality and consistently. The only exception to this was the print run seconds before the ink warning lights came on, this print was showing visible horizontal lines. The ink that came with the printer lasted about 30 days, and the replacement ink value pack to replace was about

I ordered this printer to replace an earlier HP Photosmart and can say it is a definite improvement particularly in dealing with multi-page printouts of e-books etc. It has several more facilities than the earlier modelwhich can best been learned about elsewhere but its Wi Fi ability is one of the more useful.The four individual colour cartridges are also a positive attribute as they offer the possibility of changing cartridges individually should you print in some colours more than in others. In this respect the availability of XL versions of the cartridges is a worthwhile advantage
Photo printing at "enthusiastic amateur" level, working through Adobe Photoshop Elements is excellent although I should leave it to a professional to provide a more scientific evaluation.

Used to be a great supporter of HP products many years ago until they started selling cheap printers, with endless updates and health checks, along with YOUR PRINTER CARTRIDGE NEEDS REPLACING, visit our sales desk! Just ignored the constant messages, went on for weeks and weeks; my company moved to other makes of printers because of these issues and of course the ridiculous price of HP cartridges. Anyway, needed an e-print printer for work so did my research. Seemed that the only REAL option was this model printer, so I decided to get one and trial it before buying 2 more for home. Well I have to say it is superb, works brilliantly, some really great features for printing direct from iPads, and the latest XL cartridges last quite a while. etc. Then when I recently invested in an iMac computer, I noticed that this printer is the only one Recommended by Apple. Anyway, bought 2 more of these printers for home and at last I'm happy with an HP product after 10 years of disappointment.

It works OK, but the cost of printer cartridges is high, a pack of 4 cost between 20-35 pounds and will print (in color), about 150-250 pages.
So far - the usual moan, but these cartridges are equipped (each) with an ID chip, which doesn't allow you to use "unauthorized" i.e. cheaper ink.
This is an outrage, I paid for this printer and own it, how can HP legally stop me (and they do) using cheaper ink.
I'm now mothballing it and will never buy any HP product.
HP used to be an honorable and dependable company, but forcing you to buy their expensive ink is (in my opinion) an act of extortion.

Can't say how disappointed I am with HP brought a new printer a couple of years ago and seldom used with original ink cartridges these failed and paper feed started to play up brought new inks (genuine) and still failed to work so upgraded to this printer which is as dire and failed to work though as new from amazon with no inks or paper feed tray. So diappointed and still waiting for refund have decided not to use a printer any more but to pay for service of local library and photo shop for any printing required as will be cheaper in the long run not having to pay for dire dire dire quality with exceptionally poor support. Save your money and avoid HP.

I purchased this printer about 4 months ago to replace a rather tired (and increasing unreliable) Epson. So far my experience has been on the whole positive. The printer is seemingly economical in its use of ink, especially in comparison to previous printers I've had. Often it can seem that they waste ridiculous amounts of ink on processes such as cleaning the heads, but this cannot be said for this printer. The common availability of relatively inexpensive third party produced (i.e. not official HP) cartridges has also meant that replacing the cartridges in this printer has proven cheaper than my old Epson, and in the time I've had the printer I've probably saved about half the total cost of the printer on ink alone. Print speed is superb for both ordinary printing and photographs, and in terms of quality I have never had any cause for complaint at all. So all in all I have been extremely impressed with this printer.
However I have encountered one problem. This is the ease with which this printer suffers from paper jams. I've never really had this issue with other printers before, and I've found it extremely time consuming (and annoying!) to deal with repeated jams. To give a rough indication of how frequent they are I would say it has happened to me about 6 or 7 times since I got the printer. Orginally I thought it may be down to the paper I was using (which was admittedly the cheapest junk I could find) but since using proper/good quality paper I have not really noticed any improvement in this problem at all. It may well be that I simply have a dodgy printer or that I'm doing something wrong, but given how difficult it can be to get the printer to allow you to continue printing after a jam this may not be the ideal choice for those looking for the simplest to use printer.
That said, the various qualities of this printer do for me outweigh the annoyance that the jamming issue causes and is certainly a good choice for those looking to upgrade.

a good value printer (Amazon was the cheapest I found from different websites too). Easy to set up and prints really well. Photo printing great too. Haven't tried the scanner as yet but expect it will be as good too. Originally thought I would buy the 5520 but for only a few pounds more on Amazon, I am pleased I went for the slightly upmarket 6620.

After trying a Kodak printer which never ever really printed very well, I was again looking for a printer....i nearly went for Epson but my son convinced me to try this HP one instead....really happy with it! Easy to set up on my mac and my iPad send photos to it no problems as well.

This is a nice printer. Easy to install and it takes photo paper, card and normal paper.
It uses loads and loads of ink and the ink isn't cheap.
It's wireless, copies, scans and prints.
It has a smart touchscreen for the price it's good but just beware of the ink!!!!

After 18 months the black decided it had had enough on the old printer.
Thus I was forced to buy this one so that I could use all the ink I had just purchased.
Printer is quicker, photos are sharper and the addition of double-sided printing is great.

I've had this printer for a number of months now & can say this is an awesome little machine. I have honestly thrashed this printer running a local campaign. It's scanned, it's printed, it's photocopied. I've completed letters, booklets, posters, flyers & all manor of documents varying in length & size. This little work horse didn't fail me once! The only downsize is the cost of the colour cartridges however if you plan ahead & shop around you can pick multi packs up

Avoid this machine if using windows 8 .1. Misses out lines of text making it unreliable. Not easy to contact HP for help, website for driver support unhelpful. Machine very noisy, print quality poor ink smudges. Very unimpressed.

Only buy this printer if you want it to work well in the short term. Mine is a year old and doesn't work properly any more, despite aligning cartridges, cleaning print heads etc. Finding the way to return it at this time is also difficult. Spend an extra 10 mins finding another make.

Bought this HP printer to replace my old HP printer, I am impressed with the quality and how easy it was to set-up. The touch screen is large and in colour and the menu is easy to follow. Placing the new printer cartridges in is also very easy and the replacement printer cartridges are easy to get hold of and are reasonably priced. The printer quality is very good, I printed off photos on photo paper and was very impressed. The scanner is very good giving high quality scans and copies. The speed of the printer is reasonable whilst holding plenty of A4 paper. Great printer for home use.

I'm not sure whether my machine is actually functioning as it should.
Set up was not a problem initially, but after a day, one of the ipads in the house stopped talking to it, so we now cannot print from that ipad. No idea whether it's the ipad or the printer at fault.
Emailing from it is a bit cumbersome. You need to set up a special password for each email address that seemingly needs to be entered each time you want to send a scanned document from the printer.
Photo print quality is OK (Photos not brilliant but as good as some of the cheap shops/machines in shops). When I print a colour document, there is often a line running all the way down it.
The screen is terrible and i'm not sure if that is faulty. There are lines down it which never disappear with the result it's almost impossible to view a photo on the screen even to decide if it's the one you want to print, still less to do any cropping, formatting etc.
Overall a nice bit of kit, but a shame about the problems especially with the screen.
