I have been running a C4150 for two years. For the price it isa good enough printer. I print off of a Mac OSX, an XP and aVista computer. So that's a pretty good test. One gripe though.The 4x6 print tray really sucks. It always jams. I have gottentired of fixes. Looking around the Web, it looks like I am notthe only one who can't print 4x6's. How can they release a productthat performs like this?

HP has distinguished themselves by providing a portable color USB printer that is compatible with Linux operating systems. If you plan on air travel, order the travel protectors or equivalent for both printer cartridges. The product is susceptible to deformities, if not adequately wrapped for shipping. Printer cartridges can cost an "arm and a leg" elsewhere. So have backups!

Very flexible. The battery and inbuilt wifi are great. I use this to print from 1 desktop and 3 laptops - all wirelessly. I can also move it to any room in my condo with no problems.Photo printing is not up to par and I use another dedicated printer for photos, but I never intended this to be a high quality photo printer.The set up for this printer is very simple and I have computers with mixed Vista and XP OS working perfectly with it.

I have a love/hate relationship with this printer, and if I had it to do all over again, I don't think I'd buy it. The prints are amazing. Even in the lower quality settings, it really prints beautifully. But it flies through ink. I have owned it since November and I have replaced some cartridges several times (but some of them I haven't replaced at all. Go figure.)The ink is very pricey. It also jams very easily, regardless of the type of paper used. The door to clear the jam is way at the back, and has to be completely removed to access it (it's not on a hinge). The reason I bring this up is that if you have your printer in a hutch type of shelf, like I do, it can be really difficult to access the back to clear these jams 3 times a week, and especially difficult to close it back up again. I have a few other pet peeves, like the messages that pop up on every single computer on the network all the time, but those are minor compared to the ink and paper jam issues.

I had purchased this as a backup for my epson photo printer. Got to use it about 6 times-something was burning inside of it so I contacted HP and go so much grief then kept tellime me the warrantee was up and I informed them it wasn't up till July 2008 and it was a defaulty workmanship so they had to make good on it. Well to make a long story short after about a month of this they finally replaced it-With another broken one! I'm considering this a lesson in life-count my losses and Don't buy HP products ever, ever, again!

Bought this printer in April. Probably printed 20 pages on it in 3 months since I have another printer hooked up. When it worked it printed great pictures. Ink cartridges ran run out too quickly though. In July it died. Got a "paper jam" error without any paper in it. Contacted HP service, which is overseas in Asia now. Mostly the rep read off what you can find on their web page. Most of the time I couldn't understand him anyway. It wasted 1 hr until they agreed to send a remanufactured one to replace the broken printer. 10 days later, the replacement showed up. All was well until the next morning. The color cartridge has some kind of leaked and I needed to run the clean cycle a few time to get it to print in color every time the printer sat for more than 12 hrs. With how little ink is in the HP 95, this was a problem. So I called them again this time I spoke to a supervisor. They sent another remanufactured printer. 10 days later is showed up. And guess what, it doesn't work. The second replacement will not power up. This was after the supervisor said he would make sure QA double checked the printer before it went out.... Currently I'm working with a case manager (one step higher than a supervisor), who is not very helpfully. It's been three days and still no solution. I originally bought a C4150, and they sent a c4180. Seems like there are a lot of broken 4180s. If they send back a 4150, I'll return it and get my money back and buy a Canon. Its too bad, my old HP printer is 7 yrs old and working great. I wanted an all in one to clear up some space..

I won't go into details on my specific experiences, but I'll chime in with those that have complained about the software. It's bloated, containing about 5 different programs that all pretty much get you to the same place. It's unhealthy in that I often find myself having to kill HP processes while I'm shutting down and they take entirely too long to start up. Worst of all it's unreliable. I want to print when I want to print. I don't want to have to reboot or futz around with configurations to get the printer to stop giving me errors.The hardware is solid which is the only reason it gets more than one star when I'm going to throw it away while it still works just to get rid of my software problems. It's a real shame.Oh yea, and the replacement will probably *not* be an HP.

I purchased the printer in October and have used it sporadically until now (early December). I have yet to replace the ink cartridges, which means it has easily printed a couple hundred pages. For a portable printer, it's hard to get better than this. The printer is reasonably fast, installation was a breeze, and aside from being a little bulky, it's the perfect road-warrior companion. The battery feature is fantastic and thus far hasn't presented any problems. I used the reviews by others on this product to make my decision and unlike those that rated the product low, I has zero problems with the driver installation (just popped in the CD and was ready in a few minutes) but remember to have or purchase a USB cord if you don't already have one. I also haven't changed the printer settings and haven't had any ink problems but haven't printed photos. My feeling is that if you want to print photos, you should get a photo printer. Finally, by a little bulky, I mean that it is a bit thick but it still fits in my briefbag with my laptop and all the cords but that's all that will fit in there.

This printer is nice and has lots of features but I am constantly trying to clear carriage jams and mis fed paper to get it to print. We use the printer about once a week to just print a few pages. I often need to play with the printer for about 5 or 10 minutes just to get it to print a few pages. We have used new fresh paper, etc but nothing seems to work. This is a great printer if you really enjoy playing with stuff to make it work. I would have just given it one star but this printer is loaded with features and is at a nice price.

I love this printer. It has such a solid build. It is attractive and prints out beautifully. I am so happily surprised at the quality. It is just the size I needed to take along. It solves so many issues that have inconvenienced me in the past. I love this printer

This printer couldn't be easier to set up and use and the print quality is good. However, I echo frustrations others here have had with the paper feed. It frequently feeds more than one sheet, which wastes paper and time as you have to print over and over until the thing gets it right. Photo paper is even worse in this regard. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy something else.

If you want a true mobile printer, the HP460 is the way to go, based on the current market. I did not see anything else that compared. I bought it to use to print forms and schedules for a boy scout troop while camping. I needed something to use with my laptop out in the woods with no AC power readily available. The battery held up very well. I had to go find a power source to charge my laptop, but the printer held up all week. I probably printed 40 or so pages on a charge without trouble. Print quality is as good as a standard desk jet. The paper feed and output doors close nicely into a protective shell. Weight and bulk are similar to a heavy laptop. It is about twice as thick as a laptop, and I had to shop around a bit to find a carrying case that would fit it. Beware of "printer cases", most of which are sized for the small photo printers and will not fit the HP460. I found a laptop case that worked.This not something to buy to just sit on your desk. There are better and cheaper options for that. This is a specialized device for those that need a mobile document printer. That's what HP built it for, and it delivers on that intent. Be sure to get the one with the battery if you want true mobility. Check out the Wi-fi and Bluetooth versions too, if you need that added functionality.

I have to say I had been pretty happy with this printer. I used it for the past two years pretty heavy while working on my Master's Degree, however, now it continues to jam with any type of cardstock or photo paper. Just a warning to anyone who may wish to print with heavier paper types...don't buy this printer.

This is a nice printer. I have had it since Dec 2006. It scans well and prints well. The pictures that I have printed are great--especially using HP paper. So why do I rate this as a 2 star? Because of the ink cartridge. They are less expensive. A black cartridge will run you $14, the color maybe $17. Sounds great, right? Wrong--there is only 5 ml of ink in the cartridges. Folks that is a teaspoon worth of ink! We go through cartridges like Sherman went through Atlanta. As soon as I can I'm getting another printer.

I just printed my first print from my HP 7260 printer-not many things actually make me go "WOW" but this print did! I printed a 4 X 6 of a photo from a 7 mp camera. The color, contrast, and sharpness were outstanding. It could not have been better.This reminds me of the prints I used to get decades ago from 35mm that were processed by a professional lab (I used to do wedding photography so my standards are high).What sold me on this printer was trying it out at a local Staples store; I brought in some paper and my memory card from my camera, and just tried the 7260 that was on display. Without any fiddling of settings or any prelims, it printed out a stunning, perfect 8x10.Setting it up was easy. If you want perfect prints, GET THIS PRINTER!

I am an admitted HP loyalist. I did purchase an Epson to see what the fuss was about. Ended up donating it to Salvation Army less than a year. This C4180 replaced it. I like the fact that only two cartridges are needed. I never purchase the photo version toner. Plain color works just fine.Puzzled by some of the negative reviews. I hooked mine up to a Mac G5 and also loaded the software. Print jobs look fine. Photos are terrific. Copies for routine household chores (report cards/articles)are very clear. But the real pleasure is the scanner.I had a 3-yr old flatbed scanner (also HP) that just wasn't giving me the clarity I needed. My goal was to convert all those baby pictures to digital files. This tool really fits the bill.I finally figured out that it's best to run the scanner from the computer, not the on-board console commands. It also helps to permanently add the HP Scan Pro software to the row of programs that appear along the bottom of the screen.I've gone through about 600 photos. Although it can scan 4 photos at once(4x6), I found that placing 3 is better. Why? With more space between the photos, the scanner detects 3 distinct objects. That means you don't have to go in later to crop and "file-save as" a file with 4 different photos. What's even better is that each of the 3 photos gets saved with it's own file name. Say I call the first file as "Disney". The 2nd and 3rd file would get named "Disney 01" and "Disney 02".There are some quirks in the software. When launching it, it tends to default to TIFF files which can take lots of memory. Be cognizant of this and remember to adjust your settings before your first scan of a session.Overall I am thrilled with the output. And feel better knowing my favorite photos now have a high-quality digital back up. Don't know why it works so well for me but not others. Could be that I am on a MAC. Why not give it 5 stars? Because it's my way of sending a message to all printer manufacturers who insist on bleeding us dry with annoyingly small/over priced cartridges. Epson was worst, HP is a little better.

I bought this printer from a Brick and mortar vendor. This printer's prints are pristine - excellent quality prints from this printer for the price. While I haven't tried printing anything in B&W like resumes this printer lives up to its photo printer heritage. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that printing 8X10 isn't as intuitive as it should be. The software wants to print an 8X10 on an 8.5X11 sheet, however I found if you put an 8X10 into the paper tray and print it using this template it works just fine. I think this would be confusing to some people as it was a little confusing to me. I would recommend this printer to anyone!

Personally, I think it has the potential to be a good product. Given that HP has now made several upgrades to this model (C5180,6180,7180, C4280, etc...), I think they agree. Personally, I would skip this model for one of the upgrades, or possibly another brand entirely.Here's why.I'm on C4180 #3 for the year. Actually, third in 10 months.My family got the first one in December of 2006, mainly to scan photos. I took it with me back to grad school, thinking having my very own scanner would be beneficial. For the 14 weeks it worked, it was great. One day, it just refused to turn off unless unplugged. It also refused to complete the turn-on process, staying in printer limbo. HP, after over 3 hours on the customer service line, finally decided to send me a replacement.Three weeks ago, the scanner/copier option failed on that model. So they have since sent me another. Mind you, the consumer absorbs the shipping cost.

I have had this printer for 2 years. I have not had any paper feed problems! Color pictures come out very nice. Now if you are looking for professional quality prints, go to a professional. I don't use the scan feature, so I can't comment on that. I did not have any problems with the set up (use windows xp). No problems with networking either. My only complaint(which is why I give it 4 stars) is the cost of the ink. Printing a lot of photos is not cost effective. However, the individual ink cartridges (this feature is why I bought this model)do help keep the cost down. This printer has not let me down. Very reliable printer.

After many problems with this printer I just threw it away. I had a heckuva time getting it to work with Windows Vista, then when it did work it did so reluctantly, quirkily and unreliably. Also, the software that came with the printer seemed to slow down the computer's workings, as though there was always something going on behind the scenes. It didn't work well with Windows XP either. I think the software was the main problem. It seemed to be a massive file, which required quite some time to delete from both of my computers.

I purchased a HP C4180 for business use and every time I turn my notebook computer on a window pops up to tell me it is connected. When I take my notebook home and turn it on I get a message that it is disconnected, maybe because I am 14 miles away from the printer in my office.There is no box to check not to show this again. It usually takes 30-60 secs before the window appears interrupting the first task. HP seems to be confunded by my wish not to have this stupid message. DO NOT buy this printer!!

The quality of the print is fantastic, even printed some great photos with it. But my serious complaint is that the printer will consistently pull in multiple pages at once during a print operation. Which means I can never trust it to accurately print everything, sometimes after a 10 page document is printed, I will find there are actually 15 pages there and those 5 extra pages were all pulled in at once and printed on portions of the paper as they were pulled through the paper feeder. Unless I can somehow find out how to resolve this, I would not recommend this printer. I find out of 10 print jobs I complete, I have to redo at least 6 of them because the paper feeder has pulled in more than one sheet at a time.

I believe the HP-PhotoSmart-3210 All-in-one is great as a home printer, but I have not received the manual, installation CD and USB cable from Amazon / Tech for Less. After complaining they send me a copy of the manual. I bought myself the USB cable ($28) but the printer can't be installed without the CD. When you buy a printer you expect to be able to install it after opening the package, isn't that right?

Let's face it. Hewlitt Packard makes great inkjet printers. Some can give you amazingly true color prints. Others have really high productive printing rates. Others can be set to give you accurate registration for printing on pre-gummed labels. Still others can actually print on card stock without hanging up or jamming. The only question is which printer can do what? HP has written artfully descriptive specifications for every printer they have produced but without ever telling you exactly what you want to know. Mostly by trial and error and purchase of several of the wrong HP printers, I have found one, the 920C, that does a reasonable job registering on pre-gummed labels and also on medium weight card stock. I have two of them. Why ? Because HP stop making the 920C and I can't figure out what the replacement is. This is a good basic printer and I will never get rid of mine.
