The high points:* Print quality. I was completely amazed by the print quality of this printer, as everyone else has said. Once I'd printed out my first 4x6, I paraded it around the house, showing people and making sure I wasn't imagining how clear and sharp it was.* LCD screen. I didn't expect I'd care about the LCD screen, but it really does make printer maintenance and such very idiot-proof. And hey, eye-catching bright colors are nice too.* Separate trays for photo paper and regular paper. It's nice not to have to constantly change paper sizes.* The printer prints parallel to the edges of the paper! This hasn't always been my experience with HP.* The printer even looks nice. How often do you say that about a printer? I love the glossy finish.The only quibbles I've had so far are tiny, such as:* If I let the printer manage colors, sometimes there's been a bit of a light band at the bottom of various pictures. Letting Photoshop manage colors took care of that.* Occasionally there are tiny tiny spots of white on the otherwise flawless prints. No idea what causes this.* The printer really is big, but I knew that up front, and if the printer has to be this big to make pictures this beautiful and to handle 13x19 pages, then for gosh sakes let it be big.* The printer makes a lot of noise doing various mysterious printer things after you print a page. I don't know what it's doing, but it does it a lot, and loudly.* The included ink ran out quickly, with only light use. Buy the XL size cartridges.* The printer didn't come with a cable to hook it to the computer, and it uses the less-common square USB plug. Luckily I rummaged around and found a spare.* The HP sofware isn't great. It's better than any other HP software I've ever seen, but it's still clunky and buggy. I get an error message every time I shut down because of some sidebar gadget (even though I don't actually have it open on the sidebar).* The usual HP lies about how your ink cartridges are almost empty, and you should be ready to replace them any second! You can print and print long after these messages pop up (again and again). Just keep clicking OK and print until your pictures start looking bad.* And finally, the cropping problem (described in a couple of previous reviews).But, overall, moving from a Deskjet 1000C to THIS? It's like freaking night and day. I may seem to have a long list of problems, but they're really minor. In fact, I take it all back. The printer prints AMAZINGLY, and I don't know about you, but this is really what I look for in a printer.And now for the cropping problem. I've just spent hours sorting this out, and finally I've come up with a workaround. It's not elegant, but at least there is one. (My workaround is for 4x6 images printed from Photoshop [CS4]; you'll have to adapt my method to whichever program you're using.)For best results, do the following.1. Stretch your image's longest dimension to 102%.Yes, it's true, the printer doesn't print at the same proportions you see on your screen. It squashes your image's height just a bit. I know it's the printer, and not my screen, because I drew a perfect square in Photoshop and zoomed in on it and measured it with a ruler, and on the screen it was perfectly square. I printed it on photo paper and then measured the printed square, and the square was now a rectangle.2. Increase your canvas size.Your short side should be 105% of the original size, and the tall side should be 104%. This is to make a thin border around your picture and compensate for the cropping the printer does.3. Preview your picture.Definitely preview it before you print it (there's a setting in your printer properties), this'll save you paper. When the preview comes up, what you're looking for is a white border of a more-or-less consistent width around the edges of your image.4. Print it.You should find that your picture is practically identical to what's on your screen. It still crops the image ever so slightly, but you do want SOME cropping, because without cropping you'd have a white border, and we're going for borderless here. But on my prints, you have to look really close to see that the image has been cropped. MUCH better than the out-of-the-box results.5. Don't save your image!You're only making these changes for as long as it takes to print. You don't want your beautiful image to be slightly stretched with a permanent border.There you have it. I wasted half my pack of HP 4x6 photo paper to find all this out. But I wasn't content with the suggestion of transferring my picture file to a memory card and plugging that into the printer...too much hassle for me (although I'm sure it works just as well). I know my method isn't exactly streamlined, but if you do a lot of 4x6 printing I think you'll appreciate it. And if you're using a program with Actions or Macros you can automate this whole process.By the way, anyone want to buy a few dozen pictures of my 10-month-

This printer is easy to set up and instructions are easy to follow provided you follow every step!
Wanted this printer after seeing demonstration and fact that paper stays in trays, (both sizes) is
what I required.

Not impressed when I opened it, very plasticky, but now I am used to it I think it is great, lovely clear printing, I never thought that I would say it but superior to my recent Canon and the Airprint facility is simplicity itself. It is also noisy but I can live with that for the super results from either printing or scanning, amazing value from Amazon.

Have had the printer for a while and functions well. Would not recommend for general photo printing as colours are not good enough. But great otherwise.

This is such a good printer. It's my second,and 100% better than the last(not an HP) Although I'm pretty ancient(76) AND a woman,I have found it reasonably easy to operate. It will print both sides(what a saving on paper) It also prints very quickly. I've had it for 2 months, and keep discovering new possibilities, The little touch-screen is magic. I can only recommend it.

I have only had this printer for a few weeks but so far I am very pleased with it. It was very easy to set up and very easy to learn how to scan to both email and my computer. My Mac, that I bought in 2011 recognised it without me having to load the HP software onto the Mac, I found that bit a little confusing but I worked my way through it, so even if you are not very good with computer things it is do-able. I think the quality of photo print is very good, printers have come a long way since I purchased my last HP printer nine years ago (which I might add is still going). This particular model was considerably cheaper for me to buy through Amazon than anywhere else.

If HP made printer/scanners, they'd probably make the worst in the world. Oh, wait a minute they do, and they really must be the worst in the world! I've yet to make a successful scan with mine. I think their idea is to get you to phone their premium rate line with your inevitable problem. That's where this bunch of swindlers make their real money!

Just as I expected. I bought this to replace an old HP psc 1355, that I'd had for along time. The new one has a bigger foot print, and a few more bells and whistles, but its quality is just as impressive and took no time to set up. I work from home and only do a small amount of printing but quite a lot of scanning. However I was a little fed up with the delivery, paying extra to have it delivered on a particular day, stayed-in waiting and it arrived on the morning of the next day. I feel this type of guarantee needs attending to because in my opinion it's not really a guaranteed delivery day. The printer however is great and I would recommend it.

The HP printer i had before this was crap - this takes it to a whole new level!
install loads of unwanted, badly written software to get you started - then constantly falls of the network (pretending to be in "eco" mode) - fixed only with a reboot.

i know these printers are cheap - but this one is going out of the window pretty soon.

avoid it like the plague.

Product was not a HP part. It was a refurbished unit. HP verified this information as did an outside vendor who was brought in to replace the part. This new unit had fuser defects, the print rollers were the wrong print rollers and were not usable. Poor experience.I was planning on having my copier support people install the parts, that I thought I could obtain cheaper and save money. End results costs me more. Will not buy from this vendor again.

Good printer, good quality prints, does what it says it will do but DON'T DARE put in aftermarket ink [non HP product] otherwise you will receive a notification on your screen every 2 minutes that a "Non HP Ink Cartridge" has been installed. Infuriating and will stop me buying ant further HP products.

WE were looking for a compact good quality printer and am very pleased with the ease of setting up and excellent detail in the photographs. My only dislike is that it seems as though the ink cartridges run out faily quickly but it is early days and the jury is still out on this one.

very pleased with this printer, had it for about four months and had no problems so far. Very easy to set up, I don't think the scanner gives a good copy of the picture being scanned, the colours are not as accurate as I would like them to be, but overall the printer is good.

Please do not buy a H.P Printer! I have an H.P Photo Smart E-Station printer. It wasn't cheap, so I thought that it would be great. The printer jams most all of the time. It won't pull the paper through, and even with new ink cartridges, the colors look faded. I have spent several hours both talking and left on hold by H.P. customer service people in India, only to be hung up on after they could not figure out the problem. Several times the customer service people said that they had to do some research regarding the problem and said that they would call back. I've not been called back yet and I've waited three weeks. Each time you call H.P. again, you start all over from the beginning, so have all your product information handy, and expect to be frustrated and NOT have your problem resolved. I get it now. H.P. customer service works by wearing you down, then you stop calling them and buy a Lexmark printer like you should have to begin with.

I've read a lot of printer reviews lately and many of them claim that the wifi printers turned out not to be compatible with wifi.

I received this printer in the morning and within 20 minutes had already printed my first photo from my iPhone.

Not only was the touchscreen really easy to use, the printer was ready to go and the photo looks as if I could have received it from a photo service!

It's a quiet and fast printer that is perfect for everyone.

Easy to set up and so far no problems printing, apart from useless ink cartridges supplied by Amazon via Rocket Office..

As a machine it works well, what lets it down is the instruction manual. it has so many methods of printing you have to reset the machine each time, even when you repeat something at a later date.

Printer was easy to install prints photos quick and they are good. Also eay to print phots off mobile.devices.
Prints double sided which is great as my last one did not do that.
I did hav a problem when my first arrived in that it had a spring coil loose frominside the printer but contacted HP direct and they replaced the printer with a new one which was great

Found the printer easy to setup on wifi by following the printers setup guide. Having never used e-print before was not sure how easy this would be to set up, but again followed the instructions, created an email address and it worked - simple.
Also printed straight away from an IPAD.

This is a good personal printer. One fault I find is the noise and the meshing of gears when it is setting up. Quite harsh on ink and doubt it covers the amount of printing the cartridges say - or the cartridges are not so full these days.

Great value for money, and simplicity itself to 'operate'. The quality of pictures, and speed of printing are quite acceptable.

Very competent wireless printer, found network straight away, prints off laptop,IPad, and I phone so everything I need to have easy to set up and quality very good.

Checked all the reviews first, good and bad. It is better than i could have hoped for, so hope it will work well over the next few years. Arrived on time and easy to install, that is one of my sons installed it for me. I have always had a Canon before but dismissed having another as they seem to be just too smart and I am led to believe, use too much ink

Delighted with this printer. Does everything I want and more besides. Printed some great photos and also found inks are lasting longer than expected.
Feel confident in recommending this printer.
