Lost count of how many HP printers I've had. This one is very easy to set up. It's very easy to use and print quality is good. The scanner works well too and I would recommend this even to the most inexperienced user.

This was very easy to set up and I have linked various Macs, iphones, laptops and my desktop PC to it. The print quality for photographs is excellent and the normal quality for text is crisp.

The cartridge prints black ovals on the back side of the sheet. I contacted the vendor and they refused to replace the product.

We bought this printer because of the price. Guess you get what you pay for. It's slow, jams up all the time and eats up ink way too quickly. Stay far away from this one.

HP DeskJet 920C PrinterThe HP920C inkjet printer is designed for the average user at home or office. It comes in a light gray case shaped like other HP printers. It connects to a computer with either an IEEE 1284 parallel cable (DOS or Windows) or a USB cable (Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP). The inkjet cartridge are: #15 for black, #78 for tricolor. HP has long been the leader in inkjet printing. It can also be used with Apple Macintosh computers, see the User's Guide for the Mac.The paper path is the same U-shaped method used in other HP printers. This minimizes desk space and provides a more compact printer than those that use an oblique paper path. You should connect the cable from the printer to the computer before you apply power to the computer or printer. The power supply is built into the printer and not separate like earlier products. It is not good practice to keep the printer powered on when not in use; heat is the enemy of electronics.The User's Guide tells how to set up your printer. Read the warnings about the proper care of inkjet cartridges. Leaving them unused for many months may shorten their useful life. New cartridges have a plastic tape over the nozzles to prevent oxidation of the ink. Do not refill print cartridges, this can void the warranty. The Print Cartridge Status light will blink when a print cartridge is low on ink, improperly installed, or malfunctioning (or wrong cartridge). Open the top cover for details. From the front the five indicators run left to right for: color cartridge problem, black cartridge problem, color ink low, black ink low, print cartridges OK. Both print cartridges must be present to operate the printer. Leave an empty cartridge in place until it is replaced with a new one.The Quick Help document has chapters on learning to print on paper and other media, special features, product maintenance, problem solving, and product specifications. The DeskJet Toolbox provides functions like cleaning print cartridges. Print cartridges and the print cartridge cradle can be cleaned manually using distilled water and a clean cotton swab. There is an accessory to allow Two-Sided Printing on some DeskJet printers. The guide explains inserting it into the printer and choosing this option on the Toolbox screen.

This series of printer has 3 plastic flaps that are very fragile and necessary to operate the printer. This well-made case protects the unit from travel damage and does NOT need to be removed to use the printer. I am ordering more.

I was looking for an HP printer that used numbers #74 and #75 CARTRIDGES because my old printer broke down.I mistakenly ordered HP Deskjet 5740. The printer I received was just as old (if not older) but did not use the printer cartridges 74 and 75 which I have a total of 14 of each number. I got stuck with the Deskjet 5740 because the SELLER would not take it back.

I have had the printer since 2005, that's 7 years!!! I love it. It still prints perfectly. The only issue I recently came across is that when I scan something, there is this little grey patch that appears near the bottom of the page. I can still read what I scanned, but I think I may get a new printer. My only worry is that I will not find such a reliable one. It makes me want to but a scanner instead and keep my printer as a printer. I highly recommend this printer. I read some reviews that said it died a few months in. I am a student and I use mine all the time.. so I think that perhaps those people just bought lemons. Again, I love this printer.

I find this very noisy and you cant really see what ink is left and have to change them all and also the photo tray is pretty useless and it is easier to use the bottom tray

I love my printer. I do a lot of printing and the cartridge holds more ink than any I am aware of. If you can't afford the cartridges that newer printers take, this is a great way to go. I got EXCELLENT customer service from the seller and recommend them to anyone.

I've had this HP Photosmart B8550 Inkjet Photo Printer for a few years now and am happy with it. I got it because I wanted to play around with printing my own photos -- do some editing in Photoshop; print; compare to unedited print; tinker some more with color settings etc; reprint; etc etc. All in an effort to learn more. And I also wanted to start to print out some of the thousands of digital photos I have. Even though I always said I would, I somehow never got around to sending those photos out to a print shop to be printed!!! Now, I have many photos printed, framed and bringing me happy memoires at home and at my office!! The color photos this printer generates really are amazing! It would almost certainly be cheaper to get prints done at a place like Costco or Shutterfly, but, as I said above, I just know that the chances I will really get around to doing that as often as I should are slim!!! And you don't really have much control over how exactly they generate the prints.Two caveats: since I read so many horror stories about the software that goes with this printer, I have never attached it to a computer. That was one piece of advice I read when I was researching this printer before I purchased it. Perhaps this is overkill -- and I should say that my research is now a couple of years old, since that is how long I've had this printer. But, I continue to use it standalone -- I stick any photos I want to print on a thumb-drive and print from there. One day, I should probably think about re-investigating the software/printer drive options since in the interim I have upgraded my home machine and now have Windows 7.The other thing I would say most emphatically is IGNORE THE LOW INK WARNINGS. I have printed many, many photos -- including multiple large photos like 8 X 10's LONG after the printer is telling me that the ink is low. LONG AFTER!!!! And the photos look fine. It's truly astounding!! I am sure this is just a trick on HP's part to get you to buy more ink!!! Shame on them -- especially when you consider the environmental impact. Anyway, given the cost of ink cartridges, I consider it worth it to risk printing a crappy photo (which I would have to reprint) than throw out half full ink cartridges. My advice: when you get that low ink warning -- just click OK and get printing!!!
