Bought this to record racing events. Held off writing the report until it got some use. VERY Pleased with the product provides great videos and stays put on the car! Recommend to anyone

I use the HD Hero2 mainly to record cockpit video from inside the airplane I fly. I use the suction cup mount attached to the right passenger window. The wide POV makes sure nothing is missed out of frame. I also use a special audio cable to record the cockpit intercom and interactions with air traffic control to a Sony digital recorder (for my editing purposes, recording audio to a seperate device is better).
I have been in digital video since 1992, and have used everything from 8, Hi8, DV and HDV. I currently use a Canon XH-A1 prosumer HDV camera for my business.
This little camera is incredible in every way. It has met and surpassed all of my expectations, which are high. The GoPro people are obviously adrenaline and technology junkies, because this little camera fits both like a glove.
I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and have no problems importing or editing the footage. I import as native 1080.
I have bought the suction cup and tripod mount, and both have worked great.
There is a reason why this $299 camera is being used in Hollywood productions, right next to $30,000 professional cameras. It rocks.
I really cannot understand people who give this camera anything less than four stars. I give it five stars, and if I could I would give it six.
Stop sitting on the fence and go buy this camera. You will not regret it.

Awesome camera. Easy to use. Lots of attachments. Long battery life. Great Pictures. Well worth the price. I have used the one touch video feature and the time lapse. Both worked very well. Now to find a good movie maker to edit with.

I think these little cameras are great. It comes with a wide assortment of mounts that you can use. I use the sticky mount on the top of my helmet because I think it gives a more open view than the side. I plan on using the suction cup mount on my car, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Heck I even filmed a nerf gun war my son and I did at the house. Heck my dad thought it was a waste of money until he saw a video. Now he wants to put it on his bass boat while its running wide open. I haven't had the chance to take it under water yet. I'm not sure about the other packages, but my package came with 2 cases. Solid back (underwater)and a open back case that allows sound in. The only downside is that you have to become good at using a video editor on your computer. I use the basic windows movie maker, but I'm doing basic cutting down and adding music. In my opinion it gives me the option to film stuff I always wanted to. This camera is versatile with pleanty of mounting options. I've read plenty of reviews of people making their own mount to get a different view. I hope this review helps you make a decission. They are worth it, but know what your getting.

This GoPro Hero2 is perfect for what is was designed to do. That is take helmet and head mounted videos. You can use this water or snow skiing. I plan to buy the GoPro underwater unit to take it scuba diving during my planned winter vacation in Maui. I can view the video instantly on my IPad 2, edit and send to my friends or FB. The cost/benefit on the GoPro HERO 2 is very high!

I have no need for a toy like this but I bought it anyway. I enjoy the time lapse feature more than the others, but I am using all of the features. I am rather sedintary but appreciate the motivation this camera gives me to get up and move!

love this camera. Wide angle without an lcd screen is fine. It captures everything in high quality and smooth frame rate (i.e. 60 fps). The editing software is too simple but you can always use something more advanced.

This is a fantastic product, and very well made.
Pros:
Takes incredible pictures, especially with a lot of sunlight
Takes fluid video and good slowmo
Good stop motion
As waterproof as anything can get!
Indestructible
Slight fisheye effect
Cons:
Battery life sucks
1080p sucks. It needs a 1080p 60 fps option. If you're doing anything faster than walking, never use 1080p, use 720p with the 60 fps (it's twice the frames per second, so it's less blurry).
Takes forever to charge (much longer than the battery lasts)
Case scratches easily (but is very strong)
All in all, a good purchase, but should be priced at more like $250

We are waiting for that money shot but having fun in learning the ins and outs of what this product can do. It really is an amazing little camera and the semi fish eye lens gives some very interesting shots. Can't wait to go snorkeling with it in December.

Im going Scuba Diving in a few weeks and ordered a GoPro to take some underwater shots. ( bought a flat lens for under water separately ) I had some Amazon credit so I bought it online. Unfortunately the box that Amazon sent me was obviously previously opened and the camera was definitely used. The cables in the box were all jumbled up. The camera started with movie #12 which means someone made 10 movies with it before I got it. I know I can go through the hassle of returning it for exchange or refund. The camera seems fine - no dead pixels or scratches on the lenses. It looks like all the pieces are in the box.
It just sucks that since GoPro pretty strongly controls prices I could have purchased the same thing locally for less money if you include shipping and I could have been sure it was new and unopened.
We played with the camera a little yesterday and it takes pretty good movies - Amazing for its size - Easy to use - The ONLY thing I would suggest as an improvement is better night time ISO and offering a ball head bracket to make aiming the camera easier when using suction cup mount ....

Camera is pertty amazing but like a JEEP you need to add alot of accessories to get the full experience. Plan on investing alot more money that the inital purchase price.

I used this to make some videos of myself and my friends playing around off road in our Jeeps and the videos came out great! I'm not a fan of the user interface, as I thought it was recording when in reality it wasn't and a whole bunch of cool stuff didn't get recorded.

Goit the camera from amazon at a great price. The motor sport edition & bought some other bit & pieces. All arrive in time and my sister in law brought the camera back to me here (I'm living in South Africa At moment). Small tests done & pics. All look great & Fun. Will test it in Italy next week while swimming & snorkling & then finally this coming winter snowboarding. Overall very happy about it, as it is what it is a great little Cam for action sports & fun things. If I want to take better pics I will use my canon. So, well done Gopro.

I got this camera for Christmas, and wasn't able to get out and water test it until after the 30 day return period (big mistake). Despite being advertised as a waterproof video camera, the GoPro takes TERRIBLE underwater video. The lense does not compensate for the water distortion, and everything is very blurry. I called GoPro and they were very rude. They said I should have read the "fine print" in their FAQ section before buying the camera, since it "clearly" says there the video is blurry. I later found out that GoPro was fixing the problem, and developing a new housing with a designated flat lense for underwater use. I asked them if they would ship it to me when it became availible to make this right. Again, they were rude and told me to pound sand.
Don't believe the hype on this camera. You are much better off getting a normal, cheap point and shoot that does video and just buy a underwater housing for it. At least then you can see what you are doing through the LCD back, which you can't do with the GoPro. DON'T BUY IT.

I just don't get it. It is not intuitive. I have attempted to work with this unit several times and I can't get it. Very frustrating. Not worth the aggravation.

My opinion is that it is no substitute for professional cameras
But you can record and portray what it can not professional cameras

The camera was smaller then expected but when in the waterproof case it is a good size. I have had some problem with the camera crashing and going back to default, its not a big deal because I usually keep it at default just changing the aspect ratio.

GREAT sports/action camera! Operation is a breeze and images are outstanding. Mostly use it on bike rides and my friends are constantly amazed at the quality of both the stills and video. Recommend it? Heck yeah!

Great little camera. Takes wonderful highdef vids. Wide angle lens, so you get some fisheye, but it does a great job with action shots. Not a general everyday "take pics of the kid's birthday party" camera, but mount this on your bike or car and hit the twisties!
Software that comes with it leaves a lot to be desired, but you're going to want to invest in some video editing software anyway. I just use it to keep the firmware updated on the camera.
No viewfinder so lining up shots is a little tricky, but you can get the LCD backpack or, like me, the wi-fi backpack when it comes out. Had to buy some extra mounts, but that's to be expected.
