Faulty out of the box
I ordered for this router after my previous machine failed beyond warranty. Right from day one I was not able to get wi-fi to work. Internet connection by cable to PC was working but even there, there were issues. For a long time I was wondering if it is a configuration issue as I was not expecting a brand new router to fail, and it was not easy to get an expert opinion to confirm the cause of the fault. Finally after repeated visits from my ISP technician it was confirmed that the router is defective on arrival. Sadly the Amazon return window was closed by then, now I'll have to take it up with the D-link service center.

Alien among WiFi Routers
I call it the alien 👽 among routers as it has 2 antennas and looks like a spaceship. I gave a 5 star for WiFi signal because if my service provider is at fault how can I blame the device? The booklet received with the product makes it easy to install without contacting tech support. Remember that if your signal is not strong enough the router is not to blame but, grab hold of the broadband service provider itself. It is currently supporting 3 products in my home which includes a laptop and 2 phones. Also remember that this router is built to support up to 5 devices and for domestic use only. If you are planning to use it for office you may have to think about a stronger and multiple device router instead of this one.

1. Seems that it is not a brand new, though packaging looked good. Reason: After 2 days attempt, realised that it has a pre configured software. After resetting the router, then I can configure it properly. Hence, it had been used in other place.
2. In our flat, signal is coming to adjascent room only, not in a room master bedroom if router is in drawing room.

What should I say,
Amazon has been asking me to do so since last year so it's the very first review I am gonna leave for u all so that it's easier to get a slight idea about the product before buying. I mean we have some thick walls u can say made from British eras but still this one been working really well. This 2C one is really hard to set up if u don't have a prior idea about setting Wifi up and if u have broadband even before ur Router reaches to u then I would say go be ask for somebody who Is professional enough to fix it... Above all, it's been a really good experience with this router so it's recommended....

Pathetic experience.. Not working with Tikona and it's not Returnable.
This is pathetic product. If it's not working at your place, you can't return it. This is like making customers fool. I don't suggest anyone for this product. Initially I went for this product as i don't want to buy TP Link product which I realized a Chinese company. If seller or DLink correct their sales strategy, there are many customers like me who wants to buy other than Chinese product. Company needs to think about it.. This should have 'Hi Seller/Amezon, we want to return return the product..

New model, complicated setup.
This is the new updated DIR 615. Router setup IS NOT EASY to install. The old model was easy. Guidelines leaflet is not helpful. ACT has guidelines to setup the old model of the router, not this new one. Its almost as if China is taking revenge on us by making the setup complex!

Frequent wifi disconnection : Not good for WORK FROM HOME
This is waste product. Frequently wifi gets disconnected , Broadband connection is ACT which is 100% reliable but this WIFI router is crap product.
1. Frequent WIFI disconnects. How will you do official work if suddently WIFI disappears and you are disconnected from important meetings.
2. There is no way to return this product and get your money back. The only option is to get another product which would also be CRAPPY like this only.
3. This is outdated 2018 model for which production has stopped , no support , no way to update firmware as no support.
4. Ultimately even if you get for free don't take it if you really want to use this for WFH where you have to attend important meetings.
5. Seller and Amazon should stop selling these kind of products immediately as it effects at such a crucial time.

basic router that works. New hardware version
1. NEW VERSION: If router has 3 LED lights and has same color for all the ports on back. IT IS NEW VERSION, not old.
OLD VERSION: Amazon has "S" hardware version picture which is old and has more 7 led lights and different colored WAN and LAN ports. Product that is shipped is newer version "T3".
MISCONCEPTION: lot of people are thinking they got old version because the picture is different and are giving lesser rating.
2. If you have more than 100 MBPS connection, DO NOT BUY.
Input cable which is 100 MBPS max will never output more than 100 MBPS.
it supports Ethernet cable "10/100" which has max speed of 100 MBPS. For 300 MBPS you will need "10/100/1000" cable (gigabit Ethernet cable) which this does not support. Maybe wireless - to - wireless speed can be upto 300 MBPS.
3. Does not support 5Ghz band
Which is normal for routers at this price point.
4. CON: Cannot change Admin username. You can create many root users but there will always be a root user called Admin. which has security implications.
5. PRO: WPS is disabled by default which is good. DO NOT ENABLE WPS functionality. very easy to crack password using pixiedust attack.
6. TIP: Change the wireless password security from WPA + WPA2 to WPA2 only.

One of the best in this range and overall; but, not good for streaming in a busy wireless locality

Router works fine for file download speeds below 100Mbps, but, is badly stuttering on HD streaming (720p and over) on any site (Youtube, Prime Video, Netflix, everything else).
Interference from neighboring routers now cause this router to fail miserably with frequent disconnections requiring reboot, and at times manual channel/BW configurations.

This one was originally a quick replacement, but, has been my primary device ever since.
Go for it!!

Awesome product and easy to setup...
When I bought the product, the images had not been updated and it showed the previous version of the D Link DIR 615, however the new one was delivered...but that's not an issue at all because this is a fantastic product! I am using this as a wirelss repeater and it is worling flawlessly. The setup interface has also been updated and it's very, very easy to use. Fully satisfied with both the seller and the product! Must buy!!

Just about ok
This device works as both a router and a repeater. It is easy to set up as a router, but as a repeater, you need to configure the wireless similar to the original connection, which was not very apparent. That said, the connection is stable for the most part, as in, devices connected to the router’s WiFi get a stable IP address. However, the connection speeds are a different matter all together. For devices connected to the router, the speed fluctuates, so even though the back end internet connection is stable, devices connected to this router get fluctuating speeds. This means that you will intermittently get low video quality on streaming devices and bad connection warnings during calls on your laptop which can prove frustrating, even with a stable net connection.

Works as expected
Works as expected.
I configured for pppoe. I was able to configure it in few minutes.
Wifi signal reaches 100ft easily
I confgiured following features and these are working fine:
- Traffic control : controlling speed to each wifi connected device
- DHCP MAC-IP binding (assigned fixed IP to wifi devices)
- Blocking internet traffic on some wifi devices
There are intermediate delays in wifi communication when more than 4 devices are connected but its manageable.
I recommend this for basic home usage.

Good quality stuff. We use ACT fibre net. We have placed this in our living room and we get good coverage all over the house , both our bedrooms , kitchen etc. thumbs up from us.

Average router - reliable connectivity
This is an average router.
1. No operational issues so far.
2. keeping it powered on 24/7. Had to restart only once in a month which can as well be accounted for an issue with service provider.
3. have kept it in one of my rooms in my apartment. There is drop in the Signal strength by half in the living room which should be 20 feet far from the router on the same floor.
4. Using it for the last 1 month or so

Ich nutze das Gerät als wlan Alternative (in Ergänzung einer alten Fritzbox, die nur noch als dsl modem dient).
Sendeleistung ist besser, reicht jetzt über ein Stockwerk und durch 3 Wände.
ABER: ich habe ein Notebook mit aktuellem win10 update für die Konfiguration genutzt, mit aktuellem Avira Virenscanner, und konnte meinen Augen kaum trauen, was passierte, als ich nur das Konfigurationsmenü im browser aufrief:
Das windows- eigene sicherheitssystem wurde per registry deaktiviert, avira gelöscht, stattdessen war ein anderer virenscanner installiert. Ich habe ihn neugierigerweise laufen lassen, und siehe da: 3 schadprogramme wurden angeblich gefunden. Als ich sie entfernen lassen wollte, kam ein Hinweis darauf, dass ich dazu die Vollversion kaufen sollte.
Wer weiss, was mir noch alles untergejubelt wurde und ob es mir gelungen ist, zumindest diese unerwünschten "Geschenke" wieder zu entfernen.
Ich habe den Router auf Empfehlung der Computerzeitschrift chip gekauft, von diesen eklatanten Sicherheitsmängeln war dort keine Rede. Nach internetrecherche fiel dieser Hersteller schon häufiger auf...
Der Router steht nicht bei mir, sonst hätte ich ihn zurückgeschickt.
Definitiv keine Kaufempfehlung.

Besseres Wlan als mit der aktuellen Kabel-Fritz-Box
Ich empfehle dieses Gerät jedem, der Probleme mit seinem Wlan hat.
Meine extra zum Unitymedia Anschluss gekaufte aktuelle Kabel-Fritzbox für 250 freundliche Euronen, leistet trotz sehr guter Testergebnisse in vielen Zeitschriften im Wlan nicht annähernd das, was diese Box leistet. Nun ist ohne Repeater Wlan im ganzen Haus und bis 30 Meter im Garten möglich. Habe sie zentral im Flur EG montiert und habe nun problemlos Wlan im Keller (Betondecken) und im Obergeschoss. Selbst im Obergeschoss ist HD-STREAMING mit 2 Samsung-Fernsehern über Wlan möglich, was ich jedoch nur Testweise nutze, da ich die Fernseher und Fire-TV-Sticks normalerweise über Lan-Kabel betreibe. Dies lege ich auch jedem ans Herz, soweit möglich.
Im 5Ghz-Netz erreiche ich in direkter Umgebung (7 Meter Umkreis) die vollen bei mir möglichen 250 Mbit. Im 2,4Ghz-Netz im Keller, weiteste Entfernung sind es dann immer noch 23 Mbit im Download bei vollen 10 Mbit Upload. Dies war mit obiger Markenbox von Fritz nicht so.
In den Abendstunden wenn hier so zwanzig Geräte im Wlan hängen, war oft nicht mehr viel möglich. Z.b. Es klingelt an der Ring Doorbell 2 und einer skyped und ich schaue Fußball im Garten auf dem Tablet. Da war eine Video Übertragung zur Tür nich mehr möglich. Das gehört mit diesem Teil der Vergangenheit an, keine spürbaren Engpässe mehr.
Die Installation ist einfach, auf der deutschen Oberfläche gibt es nicht zu viel einzustellen. Ich habe verschiedene Geräte priorisiert, die Ring Doorbell, mein Tablet und meinen Laptop. So geht diesen Geräten nicht die Übertragungsluft aus.
Wer sich mehr Softwareeinstellung für den Router wünscht, Flasht diesen mit einer freien alternativen Software aus dem Internet, die gibt es extra für dieses Modell und kann damit alle Einstellungen für Profis vornehmen. Ich habe dies noch nicht für nötig befunden, es funktioniert ja alles top.

WLAN fällt sporadisch aus, Zeitpläne ohne Funktionalität, Bandbreite WIFI nicht stabil
Wenn der DIR-882 einmal läuft, dann überzeugt auch die Leistung des WLANs. Leider häufen sich innerhalb schon 1 Woche nach dem Kauf die sporadischen Ausfälle des Gerätes. Generell behebt ein Steckerziehen den Ausfall innerhalb von 2min. Aber das kann keine Lösung sein.
Erwäge die Rücksendung des Gerätes, da auch der DLink Support keine Lust zum Antworten hat.
Nachtrag 03.11.2019:
Das Gerät wird Firmware-seitig nicht weiter gepflegt und es hat massive Bandbreiten-Schwankungen,
seit 2 Wochen ist der Downstream für WLAN-Clients bei unter 15MBit/s zuvor 45MBit/s stabil.
Habe leider noch keinen Workaround gefunden und schiele zum TP-LINK AP EAP im Schrank...
Nachtrag 04.04.2020:
Firmware wurde scheinbar ein letztes Mal auf Stand 1.22 gehoben, konnte aber nur minimale Stabilitätsverbesserungen feststellen. Neustart nun eher selten notwendig, Stabilität auf 6 Geräten soweit ordentlich, auch die PS4 verträgt sich gut damit. Hätte bessere Firmware erhofft somit nur ein GUT.
Ebenso verträgt sich mein Moto G6 nicht mit dem SmartBeam-Feature bzw. seinem WLAN wohingegen andere Router problemlos mit dem G6 sich verbinden.
Alles in Allem erhöhe ich auf 4 Sterne für die recht stabile Lösung. Eine weitere Pflege des DIR-882
ist aber nicht zu erwarten bei D-Link. War nur wegen der guten DGS-1005D Switches hier gelandet!
Erwäge die Rücksendung des Gerätes, da auch der DLink Support keine Lust zum Antworten hat.

Ebenso verträgt sich mein Moto G6 nicht mit dem SmartBeam-Feature bzw. seinem WLAN wohingegen andere Router problemlos mit dem G6 sich verbinden.
Alles in Allem erhöhe ich auf 4 Sterne für die recht stabile Lösung. Eine weitere Pflege des DIR-882
ist aber nicht zu erwarten bei D-Link. War nur wegen der guten DGS-1005D Switches hier gelandet!

Höhere Datenrate, schwaches Signal
Habe mir den Router gekauft, um eine schnellere Datenrate reinzubekommen.
Für meine Zwecke also gut genug. Mit 5GHz und 802.11ac kommt schon eine höhere Datenrate rein.
4 Mal schneller als meine Fritz!Box um genau zu sein.
Konnte es übrigens als Switch umkonfigurieren.
Die Signalstärke ist allerdings im Nebenraum bereits so schwach, dass meine alte Fritz!Box wieder mithalten kann.
Im selbem Raum bekam ich um die 866 Mbit/s, im Nebenraum nur noch 160 Mbit/s im 5GHz AP.
Fazit: Für den einen Raum gut, für die ganze Wohnung pfui.
IMHO Preis/Leistung ist top.
Für meine Zwecke also gut genug. Mit 5GHz und 802.11ac kommt schon eine höhere Datenrate rein.

Einsteigerfreundliches Gerät - Interface ausbaufähig
Das Interface ist extrem einfach gehalten, ideal für Einsteiger. Ich vermisse aber detaillierte Einstellmöglichkeiten, mir es es zu "einfach" gestaltet.
WLAN: mein Smartphone verliert permanent die WLAN Verbindung, baut sie wieder auf usw. Meine anderen Geräte funktionieren tadellos.
USB Freigabe: Leider fehlt ein einstellbares Powermanagement für die angeschlossenen Festplatten, hoffentlich wird das per Firmware Update noch nachgeliefert. Genial: Ein passiver USB Hub wird unterstützt. Betreibe zwei USB3.0 Platten über den vorhandenen einen USB3 Anschluss.
Das Gerät hat sich bisher nicht aufgehängt oder ist sonst negativ aufgefallen. Also so wie man es erwartet.
Pro: läuft bisher stabil, sehr einfache Einrichtung auch für Anfänger
Contra: mit abgewinkelten Antennen nimmt der Router doch viel Platz ein und eine Schönheit ist er auch nicht gerade (Geschmackssache). Das Interface ist für meine Verhältnisse nicht ausreichend. Es fehlt ein "Erweiterter Modus" für mehr Einstellmöglichkeiten.

Gutes Produkt mit Kritikpunkten
Setup = Easy, der Assistent leitet den Anwender durch alle grundlegenden Einrichtungspunkte und nimmt das Gerät so sofort in Betrieb. Bei uns war die Verbindung an das Kabelmodem (Static IP) kein Problem. Der Router ist sofort über die Weboberfläche erreichbar und lädt diese super schnell. Das Signal ist sehr gut, wenn auch nicht das allerbeste. Abzüge gibt's im 5Ghz Bereich, wo zwar auch die neusten Frequenzstandards unterstützt werden, dafür ist die Reichweite 5ghz-typisch nicht besonders hoch und erreicht durch eine Wand schon nur noch circa 60%. Leider kann ich das Produkt trotzdem nicht behalten, denn - sowohl alle meine Bose Soundtouch 10 als auch mein Mate 20 Pro verlieren regelmäßig die Verbindung im 2,4Ghz bereich, egal welchen Kanal oder welche Konfiguration ich einstelle. Die Abrisse sind nur kurz, oft verbindet sich das Gerät aber nicht ordentlich neu, am Handy bleiben Nachrichten auf diesem Wege u.U. aus, weil per Mobilfunk nicht abgerufen wird wenn WLAN verfügbar ist und per WLAN trotz erneuerter Verbindung nichts durch geht. Ein FW-Update auf die aktuellste Version half leider nicht. Möglicherweise stören hier auch die 8 Fritz-Boxen in der Nachbarschaft zu sehr...

Tut nicht, was es verspricht
Beim Auspacken war der Router ziemlich komisch verpackt, sodass der Eindruck entstand, als hätte ich ein gebrauchtes Gerät erhalten. Sofort habe ich dann Ersatz angefordert. Und kurioserweise war der Router hier auch so ein wenig schlampig eingepackt. Dann muss ich wohl ausgehen, dass es schlampig eingepackte Neuware ist.
Primär habe ich diesen Router wegen Gaming gekauft. Unter den Einstellungen kann man vornehmen, welche Geräte vorrangig die Leitung nutzen kann. Nettes Feature.
In der Box ist angepriesen: "With the Dual Core Processor and Advanced QoS experience the ultimate in lag-free gaming.". Allerdings habe ich beim Zocken (Call of Duty Modern Warfare auf PS4) festgestellt, dass es immer zu kurzen Aussetzern kommt, der 1 bis 2 Sekunden lang dauert. Und das so ca. alle paar Minuten. Beim Schusswechsel liege ich somit im Nachteil. Auch habe ich bemerkt, dass ich mal vom FTP-Server rausfliege. Das war beim vorigen Router nicht so der Fall.
Ich habe jedenfalls jetzt keinen Nerv erneut auszutauschen. Insgesamt kann ich mich noch gerade so zufrieden geben. Eine Empfehlung ist es jedenfalls nicht.
