The selling points for this fan that do work are the airflow (CFM) and static pressure (mmH20). But I feel that the noise level is not nearly as quiet as they stated. I own other 120mm fans in the same noise category (silent), such as the Cooler Master 120mm Silent Case Fan 4-in-1 Value Pack - (R4-S2S-124K-GP) and Magma 12CM Fan Magma Component Twister Bearing Detach Blade, and they are both MUCH quieter than the CoolerMaster Sickleflow.-= Airflow =-Compared to the Enermax Magma with the same 69 CFM rating, the Sickleflow feels a little bit stronger. Take this is with a grain of salt, since directional airflow will feel stronger than dispersed airflow at the same volumetric displacement rate. I have a feeling that the "sickle" airblade design pushes air differently. Nevertheless, ~70 CFM is a lot of dynamic air being pushed (good for placing on the computer case vents).-= Static Pressure =-I did a crude, qualitative test at home to measure how well the fan pushes stagnent air. I laid a sheet of paper (stabilized at one end) on top of the fan, which is attached to the ceiling of my PC case facing upwards. A dust filter is placed behind the fan to create drag/resistence. Turned on the fan and watched how high the sheet of paper elevated from the air flow pressure. I did the same test to all my fans and the CoolerMaster Sickleflow clearly beat them all. I did another qualitative test, this time attaching it to the cooling radiator of my Corsair H50 and feeling how much are comes out the other end. Same outstanding static pressure result (good for attaching to CPU coolers).-= Noise =-As mentioned before, the 19 decibel rating is much too low for this fan running at 100%. Keep in mind that noise can be created by other sources directly related, by not directly from, the fan. When placed as an "Intake" fan on a PC case, the vent grill will cause lots of turbulence depending on how restrictive and how close it is to the fan blades. For some reason, using it as an "Exhaust" fan on the same vent will sound quieter. The same results applies to CPU heatsinks and cooling radiators. Another source of noise is vibration. Unless the fan assembly is built to strict hard drive platter tolerances, there will be margin for high-frquency ocsillation that can transfer to mating structure. Using those rubber mounts such as Silenx IXAFM20 Silicone Dampening Fan Mounts - 20 can help this issue.-= Design =-Fairly nice aesthetic look - black frame with slightly translucent, dark grey fan blades. 3 pin power connector with nice soft, clear housing on the 12-inch long wire. A detachable 3-pin to 4-pin molex is provided. The blades have nothing special about the surface texture, just the overall shape.Overall, if you are leaning a tad more on the cooling performance rather than noise performance, then these come highly recommended. Otherwise, you have more options available if silence is golden.

These fans are more like blowers and pretty good at removing unwanted heat from your computer case.BUT bear in mind that they are NOT silent in any sense of the word. (Unless you happen to have an auditory problem.)19 dB or whatever sound pressure scale with whatever measuring distance they decided to use to claim "silent" as a quality to describe these fans is misleading and unbecoming from a respected brand like Cooler Master. My Thermaltake eSports case with an AM3 CPU came along with a truly quiet and effective 120 mm fan that I relocated to blow air over the hard disks and into the middle of the case. That and the 140mm fan from the 800W power supply plus the stock AMD Phenom II AM3 socket fan made for a very quiet setup. Granted, it ran HOT under prolonged normal use (in tropical weather, bear in mind) but never went over 42 degrees Celcius (107 F).After I installed a couple of these 120mm SickleFlow fans (one on the side window intake, muffled with a Thermaltake fan filter, and another for exhaust in the standard rear position) the CPU's fan is always running at the lowest setting (1,500rpm) and the 3 TB drives report a reassuring 36 Celcius temperature. But the constant, unrelenting droning noise... Darn! My midsize case now sound like a big Xeon Blade enterprise server in a windowsless room with a failed A/C.My uneducated guess is that these fans could EASILY do their job running at about half their 2,000 rpm speed, with an estimated 3-6 dB noise reduction (remember that dB are logaritmical scale, so each 3 dB reduction is HALF the physical noise pressure). So my advice is twofold:1. If you're overclocking, pulling 24/7 duties or just want to feel safe that your components are running at comfortable temps, get these fans and be happy that you did.2. If you just want to keep things at bay, but still want to enjoy a movie at night, try to add a pontetiometer or automatic fan controller to lower the speeds and noise.

so i got two of these in the mail today didn't mean to order two so for the moment only one will be in use till i can rebuild an old rig but any way this thing dropped the case temp by 2*C which is what i expected, it does make a difference in my CM Storm but they are a little load i had a silent rig then i install this fan and it sounds like my case is about to achieve mach 1! but that aside when Skyrim starts and speakers start making sounds its not bad at all it does whats its made to do. the thing comes with a 3 pin connector that connects to your motherboard and one adapter with both a male and female 4pin molex connector for a power supply powered fan. the fan feels like pretty good quality after playing with the other in my hands for a few minuets they feel good and work great, besides the sound they are good fans so i still give it 5 starsEARLY UPDATE::: So i now have both fans in the case, the CM Hyper 212 Plus comes with a similar fan but not led the other Difference to note is that the stock non led fan has a 4 pin connector whereas this Sickleflo has a 3 pin connector, the 4th pin is not required but it does allow the MB to control the fan speed according the cpu temp. It WILL work with just 3 pins but the fan will constantly run at around 1875-1906 (says Speccy a detailed statistics program) which is fine if you are okay fan noise. i now have a total of 4 led CM fans in my CM Storm case for some pretty good air cooling and all i hear is slight hum from the fans since i only run an SSD. i've grown to like the sound, its nice, lets me know its still breathing. CPU temps are at 11*C at time of review and can drop in the single digits on idle which is great!

Bought three of these to go along with a semi-budget build, seeing as I could get three of these for the price of a "good" fan (Noctua, Scythe ect.) and with the mindset of changing them out later, it was a no brainer. I had also planned to install an analog fan controller so its high RPM (which I found out later) is a plus. Without the a fan controller, and the fans running at 12V, they are pretty loud and I can only recommend using them at full power if your case is a good distance from you (under a desk, entertainment center), or you use headphones all the time while using your computer. If you hook them up to the fan headers on your Mobo, or if you're going to resistor them down to reduce voltage, then they are a great value. The package contains fan, 4 metal fan screws, Molex (4 pin) adapter with inline extension 4-3pin.With a Scythe Kaze Master Pro controller, I have the fans set to ~6V @~1000RPM (knob is set to 50% mark). To me this is a good compromise between noise levels and cooling. Note that reducing the voltage also reduces the brightness of the LEDs.One detail that's not listed in Amazon's description is the max speed of the fan. I'm not too sure how accurate the reading of my fan controller is, but at 12V/full power the RPM rating on the fan controller is 1800... however in NewEggs details page it lists it as 2000RPM (which makes sense as the model number usually has an RPM rating in it, in this case the 20AC).I've had the fans for about three weeks now, and plan to move forward on my build and upgrade the case fans to something quieter like Scythes, Noctuas, or AuoustiFans. But will keep the CoolerMasters on the side in case one of the new fans fail.Pros:+ Inexpensive... picked up 3 for the price of a "premium" fan+ Led is nice, not too bright, and the blue accentuates most modern cases which have blue power/disk access lights+ Moves a good amount of airCon:- Fan controller is a necessity if your not going to add resistors/hook them up via your Mobo, or the case is anywhere near your workspace/using at 100%.

Hi, folks, I just outfitted my Corsair 400R case with 5 of these 120mm fans. The fans look great (the colored LED is pronounced, yet does not seem to blind me like some accent lighting does on other fans/cases).The huge benefit with this product is that the fans move an absolute TON of air; without exaggeration, the fans create so much air movement that there is a noticeable draft by the case. My CPU (intel i5-2400) runs at 28 - 30 degrees C idle/35-40 degrees C under load, and my EVGA 560ti Superclocked GPU runs at about 40 degrees C idle/55-60 degrees C under load. In other words, the fans are clearly moving a ton of air through the system, and are doing an OUTSTANDING job of keeping things more than cool. With this effectiveness, there does come a price, though; mainly, the fans are EXTREMELY noisy. The five that I installed in my case makes my machine sound like it's about to take off.BUT, you really can't beat the functionality that you get here for the price.I recommend that you pick up this product if you do not mind the noise. Personally, I could care less after witnessing the sheer amount of performance that the product affords.-RLFiredancer

When I first turned this fan on, I assumed it would be going back to Amazon the next day. It cooled well, but was far from quiet. I'm using in a home theater PC, and cannot afford to have a noisy fan. This was just plain loud, and could compete with my central AC for noise. My motherboard uses a heat sync and fanless design to cool the CPU. The case is fanless too, except for the power supply. Either one of those ideas might have been fine, but I'm using a micro ATX motherboard with its own external power supply, which left me with no fans.My inside temperatures for CPU and motherboard were 50 and 70 degrees C respectively. When I put this fan in, they dropped to 37 and 34. When I opened the case, everything felt as if the computer had been off all day. The problem was the noise. My motherboard has three fan headers. With two of them, the fan ran loud. With the CPU fan header, which was fortunately not in use, the BIOS can be set to allow me to control the fan speed with software. When I use the "silent" setting, the noise becomes tolerable. The fan is rated at 2000 RPM and at that speed, I found it uncomfortably loud. At 1800 or above, I would not recommend it. At 1600 RPM, the fan is noticeable but should not be a show stopper for a typical PC. The silent setting of my MB software seems to be keeping the speed under 1400 RPM, and the temperatures are staying as low as they were with the fan on high. I have a micro ATX motherboard in a small case, so that's not surprising. If your computer gives you the ability to control the fan speed, there's nothing wrong with this fan unless you are going out of your way to get one of the quietest fans. If you don't have that sort of speed control, fans are cheap enough that even one twice the price is not likely to bankrupt you.I found that the Antec Tri-cool fans are quieter at the lowest speed than this one at the speed my computer uses. That Antec series has the advantage of three way switches, giving you lots of manual control. The disadvantage is that if the fan header is not controlling the speed, you need to open the case to set a switch. Then again, for a typical user, it's a one time setting.Another option is the Antec True Quiet Fan it will be whisper quiet, and you may pay double, but it will still be affordable. That's fine for small cabinets like mine with modest fan requirements, but if you need large air flow or have a bigger cabinet, you might want to stick with something like the Cooler Master, especially if you can control the speed with software.

I bought 2 of these fans the other day because one that my case came with died with no warning. I ordered them with 1 day shipping, and they came just in time. Finally got them installed, which was tough, but I've always had problems with fans.Had them running for about 30 minutes so far, and I gotta say, the LEDs are pathetic. My mouse's scroll wheel is brighter. One of them is pretty quiet, I have to get right next to it to hear it running, but the other one is making a whirring sound like someone is running an old vacuum cleaner down the hall. But, damn good airflow. I can feel the air blowing out the side of my computer, and it's even cooling my processor and graphics card a bit.All in all, I'm just kind of disappointed. I was expecting 2 bright, quiet fans, but I can hear the one plain as day, and can barely see any light from them even in a pitch-black room

It's a little bigger than I expected but that's ok. I like it. It's pretty. Blue. Cool looking whatever but the lights are like thin blue lines that don't move. I guess I thought I would see blue lights whizzing by in motion. THERE IS NO MOTION. the fan blades are so fast that it creates a static image of blue light lines. Now on a negative note I couldn't just hook this up to my mother board sys fan spot. My mother board didn't like it. Wouldn't start. So I used the moles 4 pin adapter that comes with this and sure enough it works...so I can't use any bios fan control features because this thing just goes off power supply. Kind of a small let down but what do you excpect that power has to come from some where I guess. I would have preffered the ability to connect to the mother board as well and turn off or on the light. Perhaps with a switch or program....no such goodness though.

Purchased 4 of these fans for a Xion Predator 970 case. The Xion Predator comes with one front mounted 120mm fan.My bottom mounted power supply has two fans on it (one pulling in below the chassis and one blowing out the back of the case. The CPU has a water cooled 120mm radiator and is attached to the rear of the case.I have an ATi 5670, which has its own cooling fan. Each package comes with the necessary screws to mount the fans to the chassis, as well as the Molex adapter with both male and female for "daisy chaining". (The fan comes with a 3 pin connector standard).I have two mounted to the left side of the chassis and two mounted to the top of the chassis. The fans are really quiet, just a gentle hum. There is no noticeable difference as when there were no fans in the chassis. The volume of air which they push out is pleasing. I have no gauge to compare them too, but I am impressed by them. They are huge as well! The blue lights are adequate for me. lighting the inside of the computer case and spilling some outward. I have heard some people disappointed with the amount of light the fans throw out but I am satisfied with it. If you want lights, you can buy dedicated lights I guess. The only thing I have experienced is a slight resonating on the wooden desk where the chassis is located. Its not annoying or anything, just a gentle reminder of the fans installed. A metal desk may cause greater resonance. The case is now maxxed out with fans: These 4, plus the 120mm in the front, 120mm (radiator) to the rear and the two on the PSU. (one on the GPU, but not really an issue.) My point is that with this many fans and only having slight resonance is great. The only other thing I thought about doing was to place a bit of silicone gel between the fans and the chassis to minimize vibration, but I dont think I need em. The fans are fully plastic, so this would reduce the vibration somewhat.Proper installation of the fans and proper alignment of the side panels, etc will help with vibration issues. My 500W power supply had two molex connectors free so I connected two per connector. The power consumption on the fans is rated at 4.7W by the manufacturer. So that's an additional 20W load on the system.I should try to find out what the load is on the system to see if I am overloading it, but I dont think I am.Details of the system:Xion Predator 970 Case500W ExtremeGear Power SupplyIntel Core i5-2500K ProcessorATi Radeon 5670 Graphics Card1TB Western Digital Caviar Black Hard Drive1TB Western Digital Caviar Green Hard DriveEDIT: June 10th 2011The two fans located at the top of the chassis are resonating alot more now. Again, its not annoying, but I am trying to find a solution to the problem. But dont be alarmed: the noise isnt coming from the FANS, its from the plastic covering for the chassis which vibrates. I have tried rubber bands to help absorb some of the energy, but they arent working well. I probably need more!Enjoy the fans!

I've been buying cooling fans for a while now, and I have a good idea of what 19db is supposed to sound like, and this fan appears MUCH louder than that. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I strongly dislike bad advertising. Maybe Cooler Master was able to register this fan as 19db in an open room spinning at a slower speed than the rated 2000RPM, but when I slapped this in my case it made my file server go from the most quiet computer in the room to the loudest.I am satisfied with the amount of air it moves and it does keep my hard drives at a cooler temperature (as measured by the drives SMART data.) However, fan makers, please don't list 19db unless you are darn sure it'll come close to that in real world use! I'm not sure I'd buy another one of these or not, because in order to make this work for me I ended up ordering a fan speed control unit.

I recieved 2 of the fans for some extra cooling for my custom built pc. As of one month they are working well and have had no problems. The LED's are not terribly bright but they aren't that dim either. They do move a lot of air for a 120mm fan. A few minor things that I have noticed that don't bother me but might bother some other people are, the fans are quiet but when i installed them in my case the particular design of my case creates a whine from the fans(the fans are very quiet when just run out in the open with nothing blocking the airflow), they are also quieter when pushing air out of the case but the LED are the brightest when viewed from the intake side, and finally the included screws are a bit difficult to turn in but that didn't bother me. Overall it is a good fan that pushes a lot of air and is fairly quiet in most applications.

I was doing a full overhaul of my PC, and wanted to change the color of my fans. My previous ones were over 8 years old, the same brand (I love Cooler Master), and weren't prohibitively loud, but not silent either. Of course, I didn't know that until I installed a pair of these. They are silent, and move a lot more air than my old ones did (even brand new my old ones were only rated at 1600 CFM). My computer case is under my desk, and I've noticed that the ambient temperature has actually dropped down there. My toes get cold now if I am not wearing shoes. I'd say that is sufficient cooling, even for a monster build like mine (a 750 watt PSU, two video cards, two HDDs, a SSD, two DVD-RW drives, and a massive CPU cooling system.)The biggest point I want to make is these are dead silent. I cannot hear them ever, you only know they are working because you can feel the air flow. The red glow is awesome too.

I still give it 5 stars although it is not "silent" as the ad states. To be fair I used a mount frame I made from a square of plexiglass (not standard), but solid. I can hear it blowing slightly even if the tv is on, and the speakers are in the ceiling about 12 feet from the fan. Still I don't mind that. The slight sound of rushing air lets me know my expensive equipment is not being cooked. I also bought a green one I have not used yet, and will buy more of these in the future.

I have a 140mm and 2 200mm fans as well, and they are all quieter than this one at full speed. Larger fans don't spin as fast, so they are quieter. So get a larger fan if you can, but if not, this is a good one.

NOISE...I just finished installing four of these on my H100. Four of them are noticeably quieter than two of the Corsair factory fans. I've ordered regulators to spin them down to medium output, but after listening to them for a few minutes, I might not even want to.COOLING...Under sustained load, the ASUS tool reports a four degree Fahrenheit drop on the first CPU core using these. I haven't tried using only two for an apples to apples cooling comparison with the Corsair factory fans. But, four of these do slightly out perform two of the higher db Corsairs.APPEARANCE...The blue LED is dimmer than some other fans I've seen, but enhances the blade edges and creates a pleasant glow against the type of plastic used. This fan is the one which comes on one side of the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler. If you are looking for a second fan for that cooler, this is the right one.I was going to remove one star due to the lack of built-in speed control. But, for the price, you can buy one and still be under the cost point of the big name fans everyone talks about.

Pros:-Price: Cheap compared to a lot of other fans.-Quiet: I have them hooked to the fan controller on the CM Storm Trooper and they are almost dead quiet. When turned to their max, they make some noise but still not a lot. When you factor in the amount of air they move at max, the noise really isn't anything.-Preforms very, very well: I bought two of these fans to replace the stock fans in the H100. The SickleFlows gave the same temps as the stock fans with much less noise and a nice red LED effect. (Note: the stock H100 fans are considered some of the best, they just produce a lot of noise)All in all, these fans are great. They're cheap, quiet and preform exceptionally well. I'll most likely be buying 4 more of these to replace the stock fans in my case very soon.Cons:-As I said earlier, I have these fans hooked up to the fan controller on the CM Storm Trooper. I'm not sure if I got bad fans or something, but unless the fan controller is at max, the LEDs "blink" or "flash". Basically they aren't lit continuously.-They seem to get kinda warm (motor area) quickly but I don't think that will be that much of a problem.

I could screw them a full 360 degrees-ish, enough to hold the fan in place in my case, but that took some work, and left around half of the screw sticking out and exposed.Mine isn't very loud. I think it all depends on where you place the fan. For me, I have the back side--the side that has some protective plastic arms in front of the fan blades--facing the grill in my case. If it were facing the other direction, I think there'd be a lot more vibration/noise.

Good air flow, colors are very bright. As usual with every one of these I've purchased, you have to "work" to get the self drilling screws into the hard plastic. It helps to screw the screws in most of the way, while it is in your hand, before trying to place the item in the p.c. I have these attached to an on board fan controller.

I wasn't prepared for the disco light show, thankfully my PC sits in a corner where you don't see it otherwise the strobe effect would drive me nuts. How many times have you had a fan die and didn't know it? Well, it is nice to know at a glance the fan is working. Quiet and seems to move a lot of air.

I don't know how this fan got so many 5* reviews.I got two fans both are very louder. You can sit and work with this fan running. I pulled the plug after 2 days of use.The screw also doesn't fix perfectly, you'll realize it when screwing it and shreds of plastic falls down.Unfortunates my tower came very later so it took time for me to assemble the PC, otherwise I would have retuned it.

I bought 2 of these fans for my custom PC Installed them and 3 of 4LEDs burned out on one fan immediately and 1 of 4 LEDs burned out on the other one to now they both look crappy but still served the purpose of exhausting hot air out of my pc but the LEDs are complete junk as for the fan it dose its job just fine.

Bad led lights, I bought two of them and they are not very bright. I had to double check to make sure they actually had lights. With that being said I do have to admit that for cooling, which is really what I bought them for, they are excellent. The noise level is very very low so if your like me and you think fans shouldn't compete with your music then these are what you want. They move the air through the case extremely efficiently and are just solid fans. If your looking for some bright led to show if your custom case these may not be the ones you want.

Did what mostly what I wanted it to do, turn on and move air. It is silent and reasonably well built. It disperses more air from the outer most edges of the blades and does not move air in a forward direction, rather it moves at an angle away from center { more air flow<---less air__nil__less air---->more air flow} the flow is not even so for me this will not fit my application. However as a case fan (intended purpose) it would do fine at almost 70 cfm and around 15db.

Let's face it. You want your pc to look cool as well as stay cool. These do just that. It has the same dimensions as the normal fan it replaces and hooks up just the same. The only difference is illumination. They do come in a small variety of basic colors, too! There is only one thing I think could improve these fans and that would be to have more variety of colors. Personally I would like to get some black lights in my pc to illuminate some day glow painted items, but that's just me.You can't go wrong with these fans, so what are you waiting for? Go towards the light!

I use this fan to dump hot air from my stereo cabinet out to keep the components cool. I use it in conjunction with a molex adapter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MGG6SC to power it (using a DC fan keeps it quieter than an AC fan). Fan broke in less than a year, called up the MFR, they had me break the fan physically, take pictures, and then they mailed me out a new fan, no charge to me. Had they not made it right, I would have given a much lower rating, but solving a problem well when it arises is much more important than never having a problem.

I don't believe that this product should be 1 star (even though that's what I gave it), but I feel like my installation was aggravating enough that people should know about it before purchasing. The two fan's I got both had this issue, so I believe more people deal with this than just me.The four silver screws (it would be nice if they were black), don't fit the holes in the plastic for the fan. They also aren't threaded holes. So if you were thinking you were just going to screw these fans into your case, think again.I had to actually take out a drill/drill bit and enlarge the wholes (also threading them), for the size screws that came with the package.I was able to get the fans mounted into my case (it was also a cool master case), but in the end it was considerably more effort than it needed to me.After all the hassle, the fans do work, and they look pretty cool. They certainly aren't silent though, and I can see why some people suggest there is a "vacuum cleaner in another room" type sound. The cool-master fans that came with my case certainly run quieter. My guess is if the mounting was better it wouldn't be as loud. I can't say it's any louder than a regular house fan, but nonetheless. So annoying installation aside, I'd give these about 3 stars.

Works nicely, runs at max 2000 rpm. Very quiet, moves a lot of air. Uses a 3 pin connector. My chassis fan header on my motherboard (ASRock FM2A85X-ITX) was a 4pin PWM style, so I simply used the CPU FAN #2 jumper and it worked just fine.

These fans from Cooler Master are just great. Every case I got, I add these in. My current case top CFM movement is 79 CFM's at 2000RPM's. The noise hits 30dBaThese fans hit 69CFM's, lower than my current ones and the RPM speed is the same. But look at this, the audio maximum is 19dBa so these run so quiet, I forget the computer is on. Really.69CFM's is not to laugh about, it moves a lot of air and this is a good thing. The green LED's I installed on a client computer, and the case with these LED's looked really good.A great buy at $3.15.

I picked up two of these fans for the front of my case in hopes of nailing both sleek blue LED lights, and a quiet fan. The lights are nice, and match well with the dark blue accent lights on my case. However, I did not achieve the quiet that has been rated by several other reviews. Now, this could have been my imagination and I just became increasingly irritated, but I purchased these 5 months ago and with each passing month my PC sounded more and more like a server room in a data center. These are rated 19dB, but I doubt that to be accurate. Unfortunately I may have passed my allowable time for returning these (plus, they were cheap to buy anyway), so I picked up a set of Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Editions. HUGE difference in sound (more quiet!), and I get similar temps to boot!
