Before buying it I read most of the reviews on the net but I didn't get to test it myself. The only down thing on device is its aperture rates goes down while you zoom more. Alas it's video and picture quality is very good to its competitors.

I am a shutter bug and needed a new camera. This one was much less expensive than purchasing it in a store. Love all the features. And it's not too heavy.

Was debating between the SX50 and the t3i. After much research I decided on the SX50 due to the price and the flexibility in one lens. We've used it almost everyday since Christmas and have been impressed each and every time. We took it sledding today and I was amazed at how good the zoom was from the bottom of the hill we got some great close ups then action shots as they came down the hill.

When you are taking a river cruise in Europe for thousands, don't wimp out on the camera. Thesis is a great camera for all kinds of shots. The zoom is a feature that made all the difference for landscape shots and castles.

This camera is a replacement for my old S3 IS.It's a much bigger camera with much bigger features thatI am still learning the finer points of. I am so happily surprised at how muchmore advanced this camera is than the old S3 IS.I tried many shots of a mountaintop and was happy with the hand-heldclarity at full 50X zoom. The IS works great. Overall I am quite happy with this product.

The SX50 allowed me to take great pictures on back country trails while on horse back. It was light and had most of the functionality of my T2i.

I started to get tired of lugging my canon slr's with my 100-400 zoom with 2x extender on 5-10 mile hikes. Then I'd have to switch lenses if I wanted to get people shots. I started using the SX40. I loved it. Its all I used for my wildlife blog [...] for the past year. I just traded up to the SX 50. The photos are great, the zoom and wide angle all in one is amazing, and I love the video with the easy access button and view through the eyepiece.

Though the far range on the tele-zoom is too far to be great, if you defeat the "optical zoom" feature you'll just be amazed...

I have a Canon T3i which i consider my first camera. But like everyone, there are instances where you do not want to carry around a camera bag with the various lenses, add-on flashes, etc. Plus the zoom is phenomenal and while I do not have much use for 1200mm equivalent lens regularly, the few time I have used it -- it is great. At the time of purchase - Amazon had the best price and shipping and delivery was timely.

Great camera for the price with a zoom that is hard to believe until you use it. I like using the zoom when there is a full moon and you will not believe the pics it takes it is like you are only few miles away from the moon.

Camera is easy to use out of the box. I am very happy with the quality of the photos (even at maximum zoom). Haven't had much time with it as yet, but very optimistic for lots of great use!

I bought this camera a few weeks ago for my wife. She is not photographer but enjoys taking pictures. The quality of the pictures taken is awesome. It has a very good buit in flash and the zoom is stunning. but if you really like taking full manual control of the pictures, this is not the right camera for you.

I upgraded from a previous Canon Power shot.I like the camera, the zoom and the quality of picture.I would have liked a better viewfinder.

I bought to AMAZON the Canon SX50 HS camera in November 01-2012,the camera handling is very easy,for birds photos is a stunning camera, excelent colors with hight imagen definition, when drop the photos to my PC, I and can compare them with those taken wiht my Canon T1i with EF 70-200 mm f/4L USM lens, the bird pictures are very close.For traveling, wildlife and sight-seeing,Canon POWER SHOT SX50 HS is the right and not heavy all the time camera.

Bought this as a gift for my wife. She is a novice at photography but she wanted a better camera than the little point and shoot one she had. This camera is perfect. It takes great pictures and is very easy to use. Got a cheaper price than costco so no complaints at all.

I'm an amateur photographer and basically use these for zoom and video. I've owned the SX30 and SX40. The SX40HS was a big leap over the SX30 but I can't say the same for this. The SX40 had a 35x 24-840mm lens, so the jump out to 1,200mm is substantial, but that compromises the Aperture. The aperture range for the SX40 was f2.7-f5.8, but it gets considerably slower for the SX50: f3.4-6.5. I wonder to how much zoom is to much. I think it's a marketing tool. No photo's at that range are going to be crisp and clear. I just don't see paying basically 140 more in price for a larger zoom at the price of aperture. The SX40HS is more than anyone will need.
