I purchased this for my 72 year old mother. The screen is perfect for her, since it doesn't darken even in low light. The controls are easy to operate, and are large enough for her to see. This is much better than the smaller point and shoot she had before.

Великолепно

I just love the wide angle lens. The camera is a bit heavier than the old one I had in my purse but the pictures are so good so I'm happy with it. The 16X zoom makes for a great close-in picture. The only wish I have is that the lag was even shorter and the lens a little faster. The auto stabilization works well but I still get blurred shots with moving targets even when they aren't moving fast. Then I really need my DSLR.

I bought this camera for our teenage daughter. She loves it. It does everything she needs it to do. The one thing I think it lacked is that it did not come with a case. That would be my only complaint.

I wanted an easy to use, reliable camera when my "good" camera started having issues. This has lived up to expectations; it takes excellent pictures and the telephoto is very clear. My only complaint is that the zoom does just that...it is virtually impossible to s-l-o-w-l-y focus and frame with the telephoto.

i started out with the first canon sure shot , have owned one ever since, its the best camera to me ever made. i have had 3 or 4 of them and they have been in my pocket or purse every single day since my first purchase , they have been to europe and were still going strong to hawaii and then to norway , my canon will be with me always, it captures the best pictures, would not buy another brand but canon for me , for someone else no, but mine will be canon

This is a nice camera, and it does have some great features. It is all plastic, and not what I expected as far as quality. It also came as a stripped unit with no memory card. This is most likely due to the promo. I have done a number of shots, and the camera does focus up close, has a quick processing speed and at the price I paid, is acceptable. I would not pay the retail price for what I received.

This one is a winner. It has far more to offer than advertised. After downloading the 100+ page manual, all sorts of goodies popped out. Great creative control, even manual focus, usually found only on DSLR. Picture quality is good, not great, but for the price, it is great!. I also use a high end DSLR, and the main difference is the lens quality and sharpness. This camera still rate 5 stars, because it is a pocket point and shoot. and should be reviewed as such.

I got this as a Christmas gift, but I am having a hard time trying to figure out exactly how it works. I liked my old camera better. However, this one does take great photo's. I will just have to read the manual and figure this out more.

Great Camera For an upgrade & just a point & shoot. I have an older cannon 4 MEG still works fine it was time for a new one looked around @ diff makes still think cannon is better takes great pics. If you donot need all the whistles & bells this is the camrea for you.

Ive been a Canon fan for a very long time. I needed to upgrade my camera when traveling to Peru. I got this for its optical zoom, HD video, and size. It does everything very well, but its still not perfect. It takes awhile to write a picture after you capture it. It also takes decent time to charge the flash. But its a inexpensive camera. And on that point it does everything as expected. I will be keeping it for quite some time.

Bought this as a gift for my sister. Its packed with features and is very compact. Its quite handy with pretty high MP and optical zoom. Video feature also works very well. Very good non-SLR camera in general.

I got this camera as a gift for my boyfriend and he thinks it is pretty great. We are not professional photographers by any means, but it takes great pictures and is easy to use. He likes that it is fairly compact and therefore can take with him on backpacking trips and even keep in his pocket.

Camera is great BUT they advertised it to be with regular batteries which is what I was looking for but it is rechargeable batteries instead ... that was a downer on it but camera is easy to understand and use so that part a plus

I replaced my SX10S with this but I'm not really happy with it. It does take good pictures but it is lighter and, for me, not as comfortable to hold. I'll probably donate this somewhere and buy a better camera. Not sure if it will be Canon.

Specification wise this camera is EXACTLY the same as SX160. The only difference is that the SX170 no longer takes AA batteries. Instead, it uses a proprietary battery. This pretty much destroys any portability the older SX models had. If my battery dies, that's it. You can't just walk into a store and buy a new set of cheap AA widely available batteries. Nope. You better had bought an additional Canon proprietary battery that will set you back nearly $40, AND you better made sure you charged it on the proprietary Canon charger.This is completely unacceptable. They took the one feature that made the SX160/SX130 series appealing and destroyed it. I guess I'm going to get an SX160 while they're still in stock.What a letdown. :(

This camera was purchased as an upgrade from a cannon SX 160 is which uses AA batteries which uses far to many batteries. The cannon SX 170 is has its own dedicated battery and I am very pleased with its long battery life. Have taken many photos any yet have had to recharge the battery. Great Camera.

Bad pictures. viewscreen gritty. camera did not meet any expectations of person i gifted it to. tried another more expensive canon with no luck. ended up with a nikon coolpix.

The camera is great but the flash has to be manually lifted otherwise nothing. The camera bag is barely big enough for the camera and the battery charger does not fit if the camera is in the case. :(

This camera takes great pictures. I have not used it enough to determine the battery life but I ordered 2 extra for extended use. It should be an excellent upgrade from my older Canon which when for a swim and still worked well for several years with just a few minor problems.

I got this camera to replace an identical model I got with my AMEX points that quit working after 30 days.When I contacted Canon repair they wanted the price of a new one to repair it so I just got a new one instead.One difference: it uses a rechargeable battery pack instead of the old one which used AA's like they were popcorn, so on that account, it's better.

Bought this for my 16 year old daughter who has just started to show an interest in photography. Perfect starter camera. It does allow for the changing of many manual settings as well as takes video. Extremely happy with this camera. Takes great pictures and love the rechargeable battery option.

small and portable, simple features, easy to use.remember to check for a transfer cable (the one I bought did not come with one) and neither did the memory card.We bought this one for our mother who is 78 y/o and she was able to use it without problems.

This was a perfect gift for my mom. She is making the leap from film to digital finally and was terrified that there wasn't a camera out there that would be easy for her to ease into. This was a good purchase. Nice picture quality, not a lot of bells and whistles for her to figure out.

Bought this for the girl friend. She learned to use it in 10 minutes. Big view screen and amazingly sharp presentation. She was excited about it and took about 40 Christmas party shots. Only downside: dead battery right out of the box.

I love how it's not too big, I can take it anywhere with me. I'm a beginner at this whole photography thing so I was a little disappointed to figure out you can't attach lenses to this camera... Well at least that's what I think. Other than that, it's perfect for the price! Way smarter to purchase on here than anywhere else.
