No memory card included so the camera is just a nice looking hunk of plastic that won't take photos. Is this what we call upsell inc.???

I purchased this item as a gift so have no real first hand experience with the camera itself. Although I have received several compliments from the person I purchased it for. He and his family sure seem to enjoy it.

I got this camera for my wife. I use several Canon DSLR's, but she just wants to "point and shoot".This Canon is rather large but very light. It tended to feel a bit cheap.The photos were alright for the price of the camera, but nothing to get excited about.I returned it and bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC. It's $300 but it is very compact,takes great photos and is simple to use.The one additional pet peeve I had with this camera is that Canon does not supplyan owners manual. You have to download it from their website.

Been using for over a year now to do videos and pics. Love the camera and never had a problem. The 50mm lens is a must.

I choose the one that had the 2 AA batteries for a reason and I got the one that you had a special rechargeable type battery, very annoying specially when you are places without power to charge the battery. and if they are going to do this then they should give a second battery at least.

I gave this as a gift to replace a 10 year old Kodak entry level camera. I thought the image quality would be awesome, its ok. Its possible that a setting was correct. It seems like the camera's shutter speed is too slow. Again it might be an issue with the user but I wasn't wowed like I expected.The optical zoom is great. The image screen is very good. I like the size of the camera as its easy to get a good grip. I have a small canon digital elph that I use but for an older person with a arthritic hands I feel the Sx170 is good.

still getting used to using the new camera...so far pics are very good....was unhappy that manual didnt come with camera and needs to be downloaded from website...tried but had problems

I purchased the Canon Powershot SX170 for my 12 year old grand daughter. She loves this camera. She is really getting into photography, and wanted a nice camera that is easy to use. This was perfect. Lightweight so easy to carry around anywhere you go. The styling resembles the DSLR's, which was not going to be an option for her as way tooo costly for a teen! She really adores her new camera, and grandma is so happy with the purchase!!

My husband was both surprised and pleased when he opened this camera on Christmas Day. Our camera was so out of date we weren't using it any more, and we were letting events pass and babies in the family grow up into teenagers without pictures to record them. I chose the Canon PowerShot because it was recommended by my niece, who is familiar with the different types of cameras available today. Though I am no expert, I can say that my husband got some good pictures this Christmas.

Pretty good quality, sometimes pictures come out a little fuzzy- just have to work with the settings. Great optical zoom.

It is a very good camera but the day when I bought it, was in a prommotion that included the camera and a completely free 16 GB memory card but I received the marvellous camera but never receive the 16GB memory card. For this reason I give you 3 stars.

Easy to use entry level camera! It has manual control and and use propietary internal rechargeable battery! It uses sd card for storage and it is not incluided, so be sure to order one before the camera arrives! The maximun picture quality is 16 megapixels, i've already test it and the quality is awesome, also it has a 16x optical zoom and 60x by software...

Great camera and great pictures. I knew from the moment I took my first picture I was in love. The pictures are clear and crisp. Easy functions to figure out. I wish a quick guide manual was in the box. Negative: it sometimes has a hard time removing red eye.

This camera, purchased for a trip to Europe has turned out to be the camera I use all the time. The lens length gives me a bit more flex when using the camera and of course the extreme quality of photos as are all Canon products. Excellent quality.

If you want a class A product without spend tons of money, i totally recommend this.The pictures are awesome and there has lots of predefined configurations so you dont waste the time reading manuals with 1000 pages :)I am very satisfied with the purchase.

The ca,era is excellent, I dont have anything bad about it. What i didn't like is that it does not come with memory card, nor USB cable, you need to buy separetly
