I don't know why the rave reviews for this camera. I have personally found that this thing is constantly letting me down.Low light pictures: Horrible, grainy, not even worth trying.Daylight pictures: Over saturatedPortraits: Comparable to my smart phone, meaning not worth the price tag on this camera.Resolution: 16MP @ 4:3 Aspect ratio. Meaning few MP at resolutions people actually use.Autofocus: Hope you like playing games trying to get the camera to focus on the correct thing in distances photos. Anything over 25 feet good luck.Screen: Clunky, fuzzy, pixilated, gigantic power hog. Not a fair replacement for a classic viewfinder.Buttons: The buttons are a bit wonky. The "ok" button actually says "func. set" on it. The flash button doesn't do anything on the default settings. I can't figure out how, if possible, to delete multiple pictures at once.Battery: Actually not bad, except that you have to remove it to charge it thereby reseting the date/time and several other settings.Other Features: No WiFi, not the typical mini USB plug, flash needs be manually deployed, confusing menus, limited manual adjustments, basically disappointment all round. This camera is barely a notch above a smart phone, the only thing that is an improvement is the optical zoom, and even that is a bit flaky.To be completely honest, I bought this a quick/cheap replacement for the Nikon S9700 I lost in an airport. That camera took gorgeous photos and was absolutely fluid to use. I know it is almost double the price, but I am returning this Canon and buying another S9700. The S9700 is literally the total opposite of this camera on ever case listed. Supports WiFi, standard mini-usb, plugin the camera to charge, intuitive user interface, solid low light photos, precise and responsive optical zoom, gorgeous LCD, accurate color, auto-popup flash, etc.Bottom line: This camera after 3-days I hate it. Nikon S9700 after 3-days I loved it, but lost it in the damn airport.

I have had other Canons (one in the AS series that I literally wore out) and my current cameras - SX130is and T3i. For a long time my husband and I have shared the 130 so I decided to get a second point and shoot so each of us could have one which comes in handy on vacation. Sometimes the T3i is not the perfect camera to grab and take a photo from the car window, but I think this one will be. This SX170is is a upgrade from the SX160is. The 170 uses NB-6L lithium batteries so I am hoping that they will last much longer than the AA batteries we use in the 130. The camera comes in a box with one battery, a charger and a wrist strap. This camera comes in red and black. I ordered the red and it is a deep matte cranberry color. Very pretty. It does not have a viewfinder but it does have a 3" screen. The buttons are all the same as other Canons and very user friendly. The body is slightly smaller and much lighter than the 130. I have small hands and there is a difference in how it feels due to the placemen of the grip on the front, but it is still comfortable enough. I have shot moving vehicles and birds with it in "automatic" mode and they came out super clear and sharp with no hint that the subjects were in motion. I am very please with those test shots. This camera takes a moment to find it's focus in low light but has no problem with full light. The 16X zoom is awesome and a zoom across the length of two football fields comes in very clear. It can become noisy when cropped at those zooms but still useable. While the video is not as superior as the T3i, it works for me and I am very pleased with this purchase. I also ordered two extra batteries and a car charger for it. Now I am ready for vacation and anxious to try it out on our island retreat in a few weeks.

Canon SX170 is a small step above the SX160. Let me use my usual disclaimer, in the interest of fairness, and admit that many cameras by reputable makers (and there are many) deliver what they promise. It is more about what camera traits you are looking for. So, I would suggest to anyone looking to buy one to google 'camera trait search' and get the lay of the land.The SX170 is a fixed lens camera (point and shoot, some would say), with 16 resolution (megapixels), and a big x16 zoom. The sensor size is 1/2.3 inch CCD-type, which is standard for cameras of its class.If you were to, say, take pictures of friends and family at an outdoor gathering, this camera is what you need. If you get ambitious, there will be stumbling blocks. Here is the camera's trait mix: It does not have a viewfinder, which, again, many in its class don't. The ISO rating, which is the gauge for how well it does in low light, is 1600. That rating is lower than many others, but it is sufficient for most purposes. The video is a Full HD- that is 1980x1080 resolution. The camera gives you the option to control manually both the exposure and the focus. It does not have a hot shoe for an external flash option. That is not unexpected for its size and category. The LCD screen is a 230,000 resolution. The camera does not do RAW processing but you would need only if you did not want to be limited by JPEG type storage. The weight of the camera is 251 grams, which is light for its zoom.The main difference between the SX170 and SX160:1. SX170 has a doable burst rate of 2.8; SX160 has 0.5. That is useful for fast action pictures.2. SX170 is lighter due to mechanical improvements.Overall, nice camera. Having been into photography for a while, I do stress though that you do a camera trait search. That will also tell you more about what you want.

to be fair, I just got this before Christmas and although I have used it, I haven't gotten prints from it yet. I hope that the photo quality is as good as advertised. I thought this camera would be easier to hold one handed (I have a baby and a toddler so I only ever have one extra hand for anything) since I am right handed. It isn't. It isn't bad, just takes some getting used to. The red color is fabulous though. I can always find it even when I can' remember where I set it down and it just looks so new and smart. I was looking for an easy set up, click and shoot kind of camera since I want decent pictures but I don't understand all of the features. This camera is constantly showing me diferent options on the screen and the slightest bump of the dial on the back, yeah, right where your fingers go when holding with one hand, and it changes the settings. What a bother!!! The screen is nice and big and reviewing pictures on it is easy. The flash is terribly bright though so I am going to have to find someone help me adjust the settings for that. It is too dark without the flash in my house during the day but the flash has a tendancy to really wash out the people in the pictures. I know that this is as much operator error as anything. Be aware, the flash doesn't pop up at all when you need it. It in fact has to be manualy raised before use and manually lowered. That was a detail I missed before buying and was a terrible pain when I started using it but I have that down to a habit now and am not bothered a bit. It makes it easier to get good pictures of my seven month old since the flash doesn't snap open and cause her to look shocked in all of her pictures like my old camera did. I simply raise it myself without any noise and it is ready to go.

I have had an older model Canon digital camera. The one I've had for a few years is a Canon Power Shot A570IS. Loved that camera except that the batteries would get eaten up by it. Other than that I loved it, the pictures were clear, it was easy to use and learn. I use my camera in my work/hobby and take several pictures weekly and put them up on my website. I decided maybe the newer model with more pixels might be a better choice and give me better pictures. I bought the camera and ended up returning it to be replaced thinking it was just a defect in that one camera. When I use the auto mode, the flash doesn't like to work if there is a least amount of light in the room and my pictures were all coming out dark. My older model did this sometimes, but not nearly as much as the newer one. So I have the replacement, I THINK it MIGHT be better, but not much. I have to put it in portrait mode for the auto flash to work as needed. That seems to help the problem. But honestly, I would have thought they would improve on the newer camera, with today's technology, I was hoping to be blown away by it. It is a decent camera, I have nothing else to compare it to except my older model. The new model is 16 Mega Pixels. The older was 7.1. I really can't tell the difference.

I am absolutely LOVING this camera. I thought it would be a little larger going by the picture but in all respects, I rather like it. It's a powerful little camera. You can do so much and it's not heavy to carry or cumbersome to pack in your purse. I bought the carrier which was a little extra and I love it. My daughter's graduation is soon and I needed something fast but I didn't want to rush into things so I did a little homework. What I liked about this was the wifi feature. My daughter got everything set up for me which didn't take long but the wifi part she was having a little trouble with although she said if she wasn't rushed, she would probably be able to figure it out. But you know, that's a nice added plus, but since I bought the cord (extra) that hooks to my computer from the camera, it was simple to download them on the computer and make them smaller using my graphics program to put the pictures up on Facebook. My son seems to think there's a setting on there to downsize the pictures and I'm sure there is but I was just so excited to get it, that part didn't even matter to me at the time. I haven't tried the video function but it looks super easy. Overall, this is a terrific camera and I would highly recommend it. Love it! Oh btw the picture quality is EXCELLENT.

While I don't consider myself an expert on photography, I have spent some time in learning photography and have been making the most our of my old Canon camera.My wife has wanted to learn photography, but going to take pictures with just one camera is annoying, having to take turns.I decided to give this one as a gift this past Xmas and it she just loved it.The camera is small, you can definitively identify it as a compact camera. You can easily hold it with one hand as it is very light.It comes with quite a nice sensor considering the size of the camera. I tested taking some pictures at night and of fireworks and they look pretty amazing.The camera offers all the quirks to learn how to handle more powerful and professional cameras. While you can use the automatic and preconfigured settings that are normal on compact cameras (like portrait pictures, or night pictures), you have access to the Manual (M), Speed (Tv), Aperture (Av) and Program (P) settings which allows you to more properly set the camera to take pictures you want. Mirroring most of its big sisters, this camera has nice controls over white balance and flash intensity, for example.The camera may seem small, and yes, it is pretty limited when compared to other more expensive options, but for someone who wants to learn, or for someone who is looking for a smaller, cheaper side camera, I think this is a perfect option.The only reason I took 1 star out is that I like to have a viewfinder besides a LCD screen. I know for many photographers is a must and it is for me, but this is a small point considering the kind of camera.My wife is very happy and she also loved the color.

I was sketical about buying this camera. It should be stated that I am not an owner of a DSLR or Nikon, although I've used those before so I know how some who may own those and buy a camera like this may be disappointed or find it less than great. I don't really think it's fair to rate this compared to those kinds of cameras so I am comparing it to my previous "point and shoot" camera.We had some traveling coming up and wanted a new camera since my current camera looks in really bad quality at night time or dim lighting (like concerts). So I opted for this camera with the Black Friday sale. I've taken multiple shots with this camera and my old one to see what the difference really is and I will say that this camera shoots way better. My old camera in natural light in my home would be dark, this one is naturally very bright. If I took a photo of a carrot peel with my old camera it would just look like some orange thing, whereas with this camera the carrot peel looks way brighter, the image is sharper, you can see the details such as texture or drops of water on the carrot unlike the old camera. I did go outside and try to take photos and while this does shoot better at night than my other camera, there isn't even a night time option so I'm still having that issue of the photo comes out with the bright lights looking hazy, but it's an improvement from the other camera we owned.Overall, if you just need to update your "point and shoot" then I recommend this camera. My old camera only had a 10x zoom and it was 8 MP so this was a really nice upgrade. I take photos of animals, food, and landscapes and have been really pleased with the outcome. If you own a fancy camera, you probably won't be impressed with this camera.

The SX170 is actually the first camera I've ever owned. I was a bit skeptical at first. because I wasn't sure I wanted this to be my first camera, but I knew I wasn't ready for a DSLR. I'm not that into photography or anything, I just want to be able to take nice, clear, crisp images whenever I can and want. After about a week contemplating, I came down to the SX170 and the Nikon L820. A lot of reviews I read deemed the L820 the clear winner, and there were a lot of negative reviews for the SX170 (partially due to the lithium battery). Both of them have super cheap deals going on, but the Nikon L820 was about $70 more, and a bit more advanced, and bigger than I would like my first camera to be. Plus you needed 4 AA batteries to operate it, and I'm a firm believer in Lithium rechargeable batteries. I decided to go with the SX170, and I haven't regretted it since. I got an amazing deal, the camera, plus a free 16 GB for just $99. I am so happy I bought this camera.I'm still playing around with the functions of the camera, and trying to learn everything and get the the most out of this camera. This is an amazing beginner camera. I have so many people asking me if I took the photos on a DSLR! The quality really is that amazing.The only thing I would have to say is that I still haven't gotten a hold of the focus too well, the camera gets very shaky, when its on full zoom on Manual mode (without a tripod) but I think its something that I remedy quickly once I get a hang of it and maybe purchase a tripod. Overall, this is an amazing little camera, with incredible bang for you buck!

Technology marches on. I am an avid amateur photographer with 50+ years of experience with every film and focal plane technology ever created. This camera is my latest "pocket camera" to have with me 24/7, it's for those unique unplanned shots that always pop up when you least expect them and when your DSLR is just not an option to lug around with you all day.Some have criticized the change from AA sized batteries to a Canon propriety battery pack. Hogwash. Technology is going to move forward and the use of a battery pack simply does not mean this camera is any less useful. When you travel into the great whatever with an older camera you thought ahead and took extra batteries with you. Now you think ahead and make sure your battery is charged and yes if you will be away from an outlet you take as many extra battery packs as you need. I am guilty of not thinking ahead plenty of times with the AA technology with no means of stopping into a store to buy more, this camera is no different.The feel and user friendliness of this camera is outstanding. The controls are simple, the instructions (PDF on-line only) are clear and easy to follow, and the image quality is great. You are not going to shoot that perfect close-up shot of a running back diving across the goal line with this camera, but for every day snapshots it offers a nice, cost effective solution to carry in your pocket every day.It's not a DLSR. If you want a full featured high performance camera you'll need to spend a lot more money!9/30/2013 addition- the more I use thus camera the more I like it. The autofocus feature is very fast, and images shot at max optical zoom are beyond my expectations, far superior to earlier Canon point and shoot products.

I can't claim this is a thorough review, I only played with the camera for a few minutes, but that was enough to put it back in the box. There were two things that were deal breakers:1. Manual flashYou have to flip the flash up to use it. Some may like this, but I much prefer to set the camera to auto flash and if it needs it, it pops up and flashes. This may seem petty, but I was giving this camera to a grandma, so it needs to be as simple as possible.2. SLOWThis camera, even under good light, was slow to take a photo, good luck taking pictures of kids or pets.The other "problem" was the battery. Normally, I would prefer the removable battery and separate battery charger. I like that on my cameras, because I always buy a spare. But this camera was supposed to be for a grandma so, this feature only complicated things. So, this is only something that is worth mentioning, it may be a pro or a con for you.

This camera is great for numerous reasons. It is very easy to use. I didn't need any instructions. It's really comfortable in my hand and it isn't too heavy. The zoom works really well. The pictures are beautiful. I got the red camera and it's very bold. I'm glad it was less expensive than the black one. I like that videos can be taken in any setting, but there is also a video setting.the sound quality is very clear. I could hear the neighborhood kids playing in the background of my video. I was surprised. Technology has really come a long way. The flash I have to manually lift. It's something I have to get use to. The screen is a little fuzzy too. I love that the camera takes pictures so quickly. My previous camera took forever and then some to snap a shot. Anyone with kids knows that those adorable moments are gone in a blink. I am so looking forward to chasing my daughters and niece around getting great pictures of them. My youngest draughter's first birthday is coming up and I will have excellent pictures and video of her party.

The camera is great. I bought a new printer to support it and am not fully versed in actually connecting the two (wireless) to print. But I'm very happy with the camera itself. So far, only pet cat pictures. But soon New Orleans and other Landlord-Related pics will follow. Liked the discounts on SD card. Incidentally already had a zipper case in red that fit it exactly with the battery charger. Price phenomenal. I noted price went $15 higher for red color shortly after I ordered mine. Wish it had a neck strap. It's much more solid feeling and VERY easy to use. The flip-up flash is marvelous. My previous cheaper cameras were fine but now obsolete. They went "off-line" and I panicked. This is a great replacement. Would like more easy access to print, however, and hope I can educate myself to do so.

I purchased this camera as a replacement for a smaller Canon camera I had gotten several years ago, I was pleased with the old cameras features and performance but began having problems with the shutter not opening fully which caused problems with pictures being partially covered. I decided it was time to upgrade and chose this model. I have taken several pictures of elk at a ranch close by and I am amazed at the detail I get taking these pictures of the wild elk using the zoom and the clarity is wonderful, showing lots of detail to these amazing animals. I am so happy I chose this model as the pictures of these fantastic animals look so professional, I can't wait to be able to take pictures of my yard this summer and pictures of my great granddaughter playing with my mini doxie! I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who is not professional but want to attain professional quality pictures.

... I am waiting to see if customer service follows through as promised. I read the ad that said Free Memory Card with Purchase. The camera arrived with no memory card. I looked at the ad again, and thought perhaps I had missed a step in the fine print. Sure enough, it seemed to indicate that I needed to add the memory cart to the basket... so I tried placing a camera and memory card in a new basket together, but it would not give me the option of a free memory card... it wanted to charge the advertised price for the memory card... so clearly that was not the issue either. I called customer service and was told that they will provide me with a return label for the camera I received, and will ship out a new identical camera, with a memory card, with expedited shipping so that I will have it Tuesday. (Today is Friday). So if the new camera and card arrives Tuesday, I hope to post an update. Not sure why they could not just send a memory card, but I will take this as a sincere effort to fix the problem.

I love this camera. I bought it, at a major retail store. It is very user friend. The quality of the zoom and the megapixels have to be seen to be believed for the quality pictures. I shared the camera with those at work, and we could see and take pictures of the cars across the street, the stadium and the parking lot, like we were looking at it.While is it not a DSLR camera, it is as close as you get, without the cost or the complexity. My only recommendation would be to make it a little slender but it really is not that bulky, plus the flash is manual and will only come on once it is manually flipped. Really, these are such minor things on the camera, that they are not even worth complaining about. Plus the rechargeable battery holds the charge for a long time.I love this camera.

It is an excellent camera. The photos look great, is some noise on the screen only when you are in dark places, but in places where light is sharpen the image on the screen. (That is not a fault, the photos are great!)It is not a professional camera, it is a high quality camera for people like me that I do not do photography professionally.It also has very good video quality. Thank you very much to Amazon and Canon.No need to pay for a more expensive camera (if you're not a professional photographer). This camera is excellent.

I bought this camera for my 20 year old son for his birthday. He took some excellent pictures the first day he got it . He went hiking in the woods and took a picture of the lake at the bottom,he then used the zoom and was able to see many things he could not see in first picture. He is now in Europe travelling to five different countries and has taken 400 pictures in the first ten days. Excellent camera quality and price wise.

Very easy to use as a mediocre point and shoot. I am a die hard Canon fan and was really looking for something with a little more quality images, then I remembered I only paid $130 for it. Nice to have for quick and easy to use camera when you don't really care about enlarging. I had a Canon 5mp small point and shoot 6-7 years ago that had better image reproduction. For the money not a bad camera for it's intended purpose.

I bought this just to have something in my car for the purpose of being able to capture a shot here or there that I wouldn't get since I don't carry my DSLR around with me all the time. I was shocked when I got it and found all the settings that were on this camera which were for the most part the same as my DSLR. . .Auto, Live, TV, AV and Manual. There was also a setting for portraits, fisheye and discreet which lets you take a picture with no noise from the camera. It also has a video function and a small flash on the top of the camera. It takes decent enough pictures and is easy to use. I would recommend it to everyone to use for every purpose and it has a 16X digital zoom.

The LCD display is terrible! VERY grainy. Thought it was settings...no...bought the recommended card... So, you really can't tell if you have taken a great picture or not. Naturally....any of the other features don't matter.STILL I will tell you the pros: small, light-weight; comes with a battery & CHARGER. Charged very quickly. Was easy to set up. From opening up the camera, inserting battery & card, to setting the date/time/other settings & taking a few test pictures all took me less than 5 minutes. Definately am returning this camera. All re-packed & waiting to go back tomorrow. That LCD display is just way too cruddy to justify ANY price. I am very, very disappointed. I would like to get same camera in return, but thinking I will get the same problem back. I don't see many people with this problem...If you have, what did you do?? What else did you buy instead?

I am a canon girl, but I refuse to keep my professional camera with me at all times. I was lugging my Rebel around, but even that got to be a pain. This allows me to shoot in manual mode, the flash won't ruin your photos as it doesn't use flash unless you raise the flash up. Has video mode, which is nice to be able to get short clips of videos of my kiddos. I also love that the battery unit is rechargeable. Some complain about this, but I love it. If you need to buy a back up battery, it's not expensive to do so.

This is one of the most beautiful cameras , easy to use light to carry and very good. I love that with just a click of a button I can transfer my photos from my camera to my cellphone.The new model has a few more bells and whistles, however this one is great and does everything that I wanted it to do. Shot video and snapped some nice pictures so far. I would definitely recommend!

This is about the best Digital Camera you can get for less than $200 and before you step up to Either a DSLR or something even better. It's light, yet rather durable and feels good in your hands. The pictures are outstanding, especially during Mid-Day captures, but even under really bright surroundings or low light situations, the camera performs marvelously. I've always leaned towards Canon products, whether it be Camera's or Printers or Anything else, and I have yet to be dissapointed.

I had an older digital camera that was only 6 megapixels. I was planning to go on vacation and wanted to upgrade. I bought this camera as I don't need anything fancy-just for some video and pics of my family. This camera described it to be much better than it actually is. Having 10 more megapixels than my old camera you would think the pics would come out much better. They were worse. Any motion made the picture blurry. The flash was useless as even with it, not a single night pic I took came out. I am returning this camera for a refund. I would not suggest this camera for anyone. My iphone 4 camera takes better pics and video than this camera. A disposable camera probably would have produced better pictures.

Returned not happy with the quality of pictures, tried all the different setting manual and auto. OK, if your not concerned with the sharpness of the pictures, which based on the 5 stars reviews seems to work for many people. Based on the many complaints of other type cameras with less than desirable quality of pictures, suspect the older point and shoot were much better. Older Nikon L16 (inexpensive) puts our some great clear pictures but horrible on batteries.I found the menu user friendly compared to others, plus they have some great u-tube videos available. For the short time I experienced the camera, I found the batteries held up well. I never had any luck with cameras using Double A batteries of any type, surprised many prefer the SX 160 over this updated version.

Very good point and shoot camera for someone who likes taking pictures every once in a while. Here is where most beginners get confused...Once they get this camera, you're going to take a picture and look at it through the LCD display and see that it's not very clear, in fact, it looks a tad bit blurry. This has nothing to do with the quality of the picture once it's uploaded onto the computer. A lot of people think that how it shows up on the screen is how it'll actually look on the computer. No, the 16MP is the highest you could get before jumping up to the top of the line DLSR cameras.So just remember, this is a VERY good camera for the price but do not be misinformed by the look of the picture on the screen versus how it actually appears on the computer.

I love this camera very much! The picture quality is great and it is very easy to use. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is the fact that it breaks VERY easily! I dropped mine from 2 feet onto a carpeted area and got a "lens error." To get this fixed, it costs about $130, so be careful with this camera!

I had a Canon SX150 for several years which I liked very much, with the exception that it "ate" batteries. The new one has all the features that I enjoyed on the SX150 plus some new ones, such as the movie button. This camera also has Lithium batteries which should give much better life than AA batteries. I like the size and versatility of the camera. I think this camera is a hit!ROB

I looked at a lot of cameras to take with on trips. I have a full sized cannon rebel but sometimes its just to big to take with tosome places. I like the zoom option...nice sized back display area. Takes very nice professional looking photos. Trust the reputation canon has.

It's working great and takes wonderful pictures not just for family, friends and special Occasions. I use it to sell online. I am really glad I bought it. It makes picture taking easier and the quality of pictures makes all of us happier not to be struggling with picture editing.

Some reviewers lament the change from AA batteries to proprietary lithium-ion compared with the previous model, SX160. Too bad! End-of-the-world hyperbole is so boring. Canon evidently decided the market for AA-dependent cameras is virtually dead outside the Third World. Canon can now design their electronics without the vagaries of various AA battery brands and types, eg, alkaline vs. NiMH. Yes, the NB-6L battery costs more--so what else is new? If you don't like it, buy something else and leave me out of your crusade.Oh, and by the way, the SX170 is a great little point 'n shoot camera for the price, with manual controls if desired. I don't expect it to perform like my Canon 5D MkIII, but that one won't fit in my pocket. I like the SX170 for what it is, and I couldn't care less about its lineage.Update 12/7/13: As of this date, the SX170 is the #5 bestselling point-and-shoot camera on Amazon, while the SX160 is #32. It looks like the battery campaign against the new model is a flop.

The quality is great, shutter speed is great, and much better than any other camera in its price range (that I've found anyway.) The size is a bonus for me, small, but not typical compact camera size small. I really like the pop up flash, and the fact that you can adjust how bright the flash is.Overall perfect, inexpensive, good quality camera for your everyday needs!

I had some doubts when I finally hit the button to purchase this camera. I am so not disappointed. I really love the "look and feel' of it and with the super lens, capturing images at a distance is simply a breeze. Overall? It is Ah...mazing!

A major drawback is that this machine, which I haven't had for more than a few weeks and seems pretty easy to use, does not come with a manual. It is online and you have to download it. Pain!

Compact, yet still larger/sturdier than most of the credit-card-thin cameras on the market now. Large screen. Colorful images on/near the buttons are easy to see. Wrist strap. User friendly. Ordered this as a Christmas gift for my elderly Mother to replace her ancient Kodak Advantix camera. Mom has no peripheral vision, gets confused occasionally, and resists newer technology unless we force her to use it (old camera is gone bye-bye now). I sat her down with this camera and manual, then hovered about while she practiced turning it off/on, placing/removing the battery and memory card, and taking photos. Still need to teach her how to delete photos, but so far she's impressed.

I loved this item I had only used it a few times at home but last night went out for the first time. It took great pictures at my sons cadet military ball and I just love the camera period. I am still using the same battery and have not had to charge it yet. When I got the camera the battery had a little charge but I went ahead and gave it a full charge and though I have only taken a few photos the battery has maintained its charge and it's been a few weeks....Well worth it...

Very good service from Amazon, camera came sooner than I expected and I like the camera very much, just wish there was an instruction book with it. That is most definitely frustrating.

This camera is an ideal travel companion. It is small but not too small. It has optical zoom for those faraway images. It is Canon quality and all at a decent price. It's made in Japan so I know the quality is there.

Camera is great! Only thing I have trouble with is the position of the zoom lever͵ my other Canon has the lever on the back and that is more convenient in my opinion. Great picture quality though!

Nice looking camera with a good zooming power, but slow to process after picture taken.Got to focus well it will take bed pictures if objects are moving.

I found this camera acceptable. It was a gift for the wife, so I am not expecting it to last long. It has a horrible demise in front of it, being a) left out in a driving rainstorm b) dropped at a party or c) thrown in anger.But other than that it takes nice pictures.

easy to handle and ready to go. clear pictures and I can download to my computer for printing.I had to download manual - would have liked it printed in the box instead.

It has nothing to do with the camera Amazon says get a free 16 GB SD card with this order. I didn't get the card when I asked Amazon they told me I needed to return the Camera and re order. I agreed then I go to order and the camera went up in price so I would have to pay more for the reorder. more than the SD card cost. The SD card offer was valid when I placed my order I just didn't click on it to add it to my order I mistakenly assumed it was included as it clearly stated:Free 16GB Memory Card with the Purchase of This Camera Purchase the Canon PowerShot SX170 and get a free Sandisk 16GB memory card when you buy from Amazon.com.Be careful is you order this camera that you don't get screwed too.

I love this camera, for the price that I paid for it, it takes awesome pictures and it is pretty stylish. Strongly recommend!
