Received my camera today and I am satisfied. Firstly I was impressed with the shipping. I bought this on Friday evening and it arrived on the following Wednesday. Impressive since I don't live in the US. This is my first camera with a rechargeable battery and was a bit skeptical because of some of the reviews, but the battery charged quickly. Took my first shots and the quality is amazing. It didn't have a delay like the previous version.The only reason I'm not giving this camera 5 stars is because I haven't tested it for night shots and it didn't come with a data cable. Other than that I'm loving this camera. It's getting dark here soon...so I'm off to play with my new toy. Will update my review a bit later.

I especially like the 16x optical zoom. Not too many cameras have this much zoom. It is easy to operate and I'm getting great pictures!!!

My old canon bit the dust. I had it repaired once but now it's done and been replaced by a newer model. The new model is heavier but the pictures are much bigger and better. Technology just keeps getting better.

Bought the camera with a 16 gb memory card and battery for $99. Great deal, and five months later it is still selling for $50 more at Wal-Mart who just started carrying it last month... Great deal, and a great product!

I bought this as a replacement for my Canon A1400. This camera seems to be of much higher quality. It takes pictures more rapidly and works like it's supposed to. Well worth the higher cost.

I've had Nikon and Canon cameras and prefer the Canon. I've found the brand to be easier to use and more reliable with better pictures. I really like this camera but give it 4 stars because you're limited without it being an SLR. But it's more compact, easier to use, and cheaper than an SLR. I got it to replace another one I broke doing a face-plant out in the wild! It does the job well.

I got this camera for my wife. I use several Canon DSLR's, but she just wants to "point and shoot".This Canon is rather large but very light. It tended to feel a bit cheap.The photos were alright for the price of the camera, but nothing to get excited about.I returned it and bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC. It's $300 but it is very compact,takes great photos and is simple to use.The one additional pet peeve I had with this camera is that Canon does not supplyan owners manual. You have to download it from their website.

I choose the one that had the 2 AA batteries for a reason and I got the one that you had a special rechargeable type battery, very annoying specially when you are places without power to charge the battery. and if they are going to do this then they should give a second battery at least.

I gave this as a gift to replace a 10 year old Kodak entry level camera. I thought the image quality would be awesome, its ok. Its possible that a setting was correct. It seems like the camera's shutter speed is too slow. Again it might be an issue with the user but I wasn't wowed like I expected.The optical zoom is great. The image screen is very good. I like the size of the camera as its easy to get a good grip. I have a small canon digital elph that I use but for an older person with a arthritic hands I feel the Sx170 is good.

I purchased the Canon Powershot SX170 for my 12 year old grand daughter. She loves this camera. She is really getting into photography, and wanted a nice camera that is easy to use. This was perfect. Lightweight so easy to carry around anywhere you go. The styling resembles the DSLR's, which was not going to be an option for her as way tooo costly for a teen! She really adores her new camera, and grandma is so happy with the purchase!!

My husband was both surprised and pleased when he opened this camera on Christmas Day. Our camera was so out of date we weren't using it any more, and we were letting events pass and babies in the family grow up into teenagers without pictures to record them. I chose the Canon PowerShot because it was recommended by my niece, who is familiar with the different types of cameras available today. Though I am no expert, I can say that my husband got some good pictures this Christmas.

It is a very good camera but the day when I bought it, was in a prommotion that included the camera and a completely free 16 GB memory card but I received the marvellous camera but never receive the 16GB memory card. For this reason I give you 3 stars.

Easy to use entry level camera! It has manual control and and use propietary internal rechargeable battery! It uses sd card for storage and it is not incluided, so be sure to order one before the camera arrives! The maximun picture quality is 16 megapixels, i've already test it and the quality is awesome, also it has a 16x optical zoom and 60x by software...

Great camera and great pictures. I knew from the moment I took my first picture I was in love. The pictures are clear and crisp. Easy functions to figure out. I wish a quick guide manual was in the box. Negative: it sometimes has a hard time removing red eye.

This camera, purchased for a trip to Europe has turned out to be the camera I use all the time. The lens length gives me a bit more flex when using the camera and of course the extreme quality of photos as are all Canon products. Excellent quality.

If you want a class A product without spend tons of money, i totally recommend this.The pictures are awesome and there has lots of predefined configurations so you dont waste the time reading manuals with 1000 pages :)I am very satisfied with the purchase.

The November 01, 2013 review was not very helpful and is quite unfair. The is no such thing as a point and shoot camera that is "kids-friendly". The review did not provide an alternative point-n-shoot model that is actually fast enough to capture kids' s movements. Instead, the review compares it with an DSLR camera. Duh, that's like comparing the speed of a Vw Beetle with a Porsche 911. We bought three SX150s and one SX170 and they are excellent cameras. They take exceptional pictures for a point-n-shoot camera. The reason we gave the SX170 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lacking of AA batteries.

I mean, how can you just hate this camera? Is the first camera I have bought by my self, is really good, battery life is like a lot, I mean I've used it like in 10 activities and I've charged it only once, amazing, really good pictures and fast shots, just perfect

When I received it the condition was brand new. It's a nice alternative for a point & click camera, just not one that I was used to previously. I could not get a clear action shot with it nor was it as clear as I'd hoped it would be. I recommend the Casio Exilim over this since that's what I had previously when going on my world travels and I took absolutely amazing & breath taking photos with it.But if you don't have high expectations and the size works for you then by all means try it!

Overall I like the camera for ease of use but the flash is manual and you need to put it up every time you need to take a picture were flash is needed. I should have paid more attention and gotten a camera with an automatic flash. The camera does take nice pictures and the zoom capabilities are great. The Flash is my only complaint.

This is really a great camera, compact one but with a nice 16x optical zoom, ready to carry on trip, the pics are just fine. The videos are just great and the battery last quite long.It worth buying it!

This is a very decent camera that is suitable for people like me who like traveling and love to take pics. This is a very good camera for personal use - You could take natural pictures and videos with a good resolution. I personally like it. I'm giving it 4 stars because this product can still be improved.

I brought this camera so I could get pictures on my recent vacation and I had more than I needed. The picture quality was great but even more exciting was the HD videos. I was able to record some of the beautiful features of the places I visited and it was a pleasure to share the videos with other members of my family. Love it!

I wanted this camera because it is very similar to the one I had previously, Cannon Powershot SX110 IS. The only thing I didn't look at is what kind of battery this one had. I think it will be cheaper not having to buy batteries, but think that I would rather buy batteries then worry if the battery for this camera will go dead because I forgot to charge it. Has more photo options then my last camera and it takes great pictures!

Great camera for the price. Simple to use for the amateur photographerThe LED screen is a little grainy but it does not hinder the quality of the picture. Battery life is good. Great bang for the buck. I highly recommend this camera.
