A good router but definitely not the best or the beast as some mentioned
I purchased this router from another website as the price was cheaper and i was getting the latest model from there. Did the software updates and started using it. First of all, the router price is very expensive in this bracket, secondly due to the price and trust on asus brand, you feel that you are investing in one of the best budget router in this segment; but frankly the reality is different. Its a good router, no doubt in that but definitely not a beast. I will start with CONS, the 2G signal is not very strong & 5G signal is worst. The signal could not penetrate a single wall. If you are sitting in another room then also you will get 30-40% signal only. And if you are sitting next to it, then also the data speeds are not that you will feel happy about. People who are saying that it penetrates 3 walls and signal strength is amazing are all telling lies or their walls are made of cloths. Frankly, this is a very basic router, easily comparable to TP-Link archer c6 model. I was confused between tplink and asus before, but went with asus trusting the brand name. With TPlink, the only bad thing is the router hangs a lot and the network keeps breaking. IF you start using TPLink heavily, it will become hot and the network quality will deteriorate. That problem is not there with Asus. And as i needed a stable network for media house, i opted for asus. But the price yes, that pinches me as 5K is bit more for this, as the signal strength and data bandwidth is not that strong for this price. If you need tension free, basic router with decent speeds and 3 yrs guarantee for the router, go for asus, if you want to save money and can take little risk with network unstability sometimes, then save some bucks and go for TP-link archer C6. I cannot return the product, as i purchased from other website. If i would have bought from amazon, i would have definitely returned it. Repenting now. The Router i was looking for!
I brought this router almost 6 to 7 months back, i had to upgrade as i was having higher internet speeds and my older router was not supporting it! Also the number of devices that was connecting had increased.
Since this router has dual band, i have setup the streaming devices like TVs and Laptops to 5GHz bands and mobile phones to 2.5GHz as we will be carrying across home.
The getting 95% of the speeds that my ISP is promising! and the wifi range of the router is phenomenal.. me and my family stay in a triplex house , i have setup the router on the second floor, i get the wifi range across the building will very negligible drop in the internet speeds.
I have hosted my External HDD to the router so that any body connected to the wifi can stream movies using the Asus app.
This is a great router , worth the money! Along with the asus router app, you can control and monitor many other stuff.

Do Not Purchase, Please read First or you will regret.
After about 4-6 months, the 3.0.0.4 firmware will cause your router to basically drop your download speed from the avg for me (480 MBPS) down to (25 mbps) or less until you reboot your router.
This is a known issue that is not disclosed and you wont get a warranty by the time the issue occurs. Do not buy this look for another product, I am now having to buy a different product.
FYI if you are used to 25 download or less have it or if you need to game at high speeds, but then just use the router your provider gives you, this one is crap.

Router just stopped working randomly
3-4 months old router stopped working ( only the power button has the light on) The WiFi is not being recognized anymore and it has been so many days.Now I have to travel 25 kilometres to get it checked or fixed during Corona when U don't even have a vehicle.. This is a nightmare , my office work is disrupted

32 Connected Devices, 3 SSIDs, Both Bands in Use. Stable as a Rock for 2.5 Years.
I love Asus routers (this is my 3rd one over the years) largely for their firmware interface, and secondly for their stability, but this one has been the best yet. This is a short review after about 2 1/2 years running it continuously.
32 devices connected in my home, varying 5Ghz, 2Ghz and wired. I use 3 different SSIDs for shared connectivit. of two households and seperate Guest network, and I'm not even running an extender. This is the most stable Asus router I've had. Granted a good number of these connected devices are smart plugs, google devices and the like which don't need much in terms of connectivity. With my laptop I can often hit my ISP speed-cap at around 300mbps without problem, and even my old Blackberry Android smartphone hits at around 270mbps. I use reserved IPs for the more critical clients like the laptops, NAS, smart TVs, etc. Beam-forming works - you can watch a device's throughput ramp up shortly after connecting it. This thing has been a rock for the most part over the 2.5 years I've been running it.... I've probably had to reboot this router for performance reasons a total of 4 or 5 times. Love this thing. No firmware updates have been duds. Just a solid performer.

疲弊していた上にセキュリティに不安のあったバッファローのルーターを交代させたいと思ってたおり、PCに詳しい知人から推薦を受けたのがこのモデル。バッファローほど手抜きはできませんが一定のセキュリティ設定は可能(ただし管理者adminはやめなさい)なので、全く設定方法知らないズブの素人さんだとまごつくかもですが、1度設定すれば一般家庭なら十分な強度は得られそうです。ただしiPhoneXRのWifi速度は劇的には改善されなかったので、数をつなぐ使い方の方が向いている印象です。知らない人にもう少しわかりやすいマニュアルがつけば(と管理者名adminを変更できれば)、セキュリティ機能は星5でよし。

Poor Service. Poor Product
I have had this unit since Nov 2017. It is now defective and trying to get assistance from ASUS is problematic. Spent 90 minutes on teh phone last night with "Maylyn" I had to hand the call over to my wife as I could not understand the rep. My wife equally had a problem but got through it. Supposed to get a call back today at 9AM. NO call. I did achat and the rep said they are working on it and it coudl take up to 48 hours to get addressed. I am going to buy a new different brand at Staples today as I cannot wait for these idiots. Poor, poor customer service!!!!!!

設定もスマホでできて簡単、通信速度も悪くないが有線で接続すると通信が途切れる
asusのホームページの対応策を全て試したがいつのまにか接続が切れる、pc再起動かルーター再起動すればまた接続できるがいつ接続が切れるかわからないから不安で仕方ない
3台pc持っていますが有線だと全ていつのまにか接続が切れます、無線だと一切そんな事はありません
有線で使わなければ3980円にしてはとても良い商品だと思いますが
私がレビューをした時点で4980円なのですが5000円の価値はないです
5000円でこのルーターを買うなら他社製品を買うかもっと上のグレードを買った方がいいです

有線接続に関してはcat6aからcat7のケーブルに変えたら安定しました。
本日いきなりルーターの電源が落ちました、その後初期化しようとしたり電源を入れ直そうとしましたがダメでした、完全に故障です。
asusに問い合わせましたが電話でのサポートが保証(笑)みたいなので修理や返品は販売元でないと対応してないようです。
amazonに問い合わせたところありがたい事に無償で交換してもらいましたがasusのサポートは最悪です、結局のところ販売元に丸投げなのであそこに電話する意味があるのかわかりません。
ルーターは何個か買ってきましたが2ヵ月で壊れるルーターは初めてです、停電もしてない電源を1度も落とした時ない、ただ台の上に置いてるだけで壊れるとかどういう事なのでしょうか？
使用用途は有線でpc ps4 ps3 無線接続で4台、これで排熱もまともにできずに壊れるなら笑えません、買う価値もないですクソすぎますグラボやマザボ、モニターはasus製品を使ってましたがこの商品は本当に酷いです。
明日交換品が届きますが当たりである事を祈ります

Harder to register for warranty than set-up
This router sets up easily and performs OK. I do have better range with it than with my old Wireless-N router. I have not noticed a difference between all the devices I have hooked up to it and any faster connections between them. I do see a stronger WiFi signal between my devices that are Wireless-AC, like my phone and TV, than I did with the old Wireless-N router. The PROBLEM with Asus is once you decide to register to get standard warranty "protection" (which usually means, they'll take a LONG time replacing anything defective with some refurbished crap) you will have to create an account, a password AND you have to agree to a bunch of marketing and privacy violations that you don't want. JUST TO REGISTER. Frankly, they should be sued. All I wanted to do was register my product. All those grabby jerks need is a way to contact me, like email, my product type and serial number and date it was put into service or sold. That's it. They are not allowed to sell me crap and then demand I jump through hoops to get warranty service. I sent a message to them telling them I DO NOT AGREE to anything but to register their product and to get my standard warranty THAT I PAID FOR. I told them I don't want spam from them or their "partners" for more marketing. I just wanted a router. I want the warranty I paid for. Is that too much to ask?
