I rather like this device. It is purely for my apps. I really can't use it for much else, but if we are talking about entertaining myself, then this is perfect. I still have to have a laptop to do my work though. :)

I have a 4th generation Ipod Touch 64gb and an Ipad2 16gb.
When the ipad mini was announced, I wasn't impressed. I was fully satisfied w/ my ipad2. Only thing that was making me consider getting the mini was its portability. With the ipad2, you have to have it in a case, plus a bag if you don't want to accidentally drop it...plus setting it up, etc...
Well, I ordered the mini last week and I haven't been able to put it down!! I absolutely love this thing!
Unexpected surprises...
- the weight...it feels like you're holding a piece of cardboard...it's light.
- the speakers...they're loud & it doesn't matter whether u place it on its front or back, u can hear them perfectly...and u get stereo speakers that sound soooo much better than my ipad2 and louder, clearer, etc... I've been listening to music on this way more than on my ipad2...
- the cameras...front and back...they are a very nice upgrade and the back camera is nice b/c it doesn't matter whether u take a pic, light or dark, it comes out nicely lighted and clear... isight camera must use every available slither of light to give u a decent pic in just about any bad lighting situation, which is unexpected coming from a tablet.
-typing...for some reason, it seems soooo natural to type on the mini... it's a one and a halfer by its size, but it feel effortless
-screen resolution...after reading endless reviews about the mini NOT having a retina display, I almost didn't buy it...BUT I love this screen...it is tight, crisp, and I have no problems reading...in fact, the videos that I watch on here are INCREDIBLE... so, for those of you on the fence about the screen resolution, it's a non-issue as far as I'm concerned...don't cheat yourself, like I almost did...I've been watching videos and finishing them in one sitting...that's how nice the screen is...I see things I didn't notice on my ipad2
Sadly, I haven't had the desire to pick up my ipad2 since I got the mini... I will have this thing for a very long time... Oh, and if you decide to get one, get 32gb or 64gb...I have the 64gb and I absolutely love it!!!

I have both this tablet and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 (32 G with 4 G A.T.&T.) Both are great tablets. I bought the "fire" at the beginning of the year after comparing it and the mini. The Amazon deal was too good to pass up. The price was the final determining factor when I purchased my Fire HD 8.9 at the beginning of the year. I have had the mini for a few weeks now and I certainly enjoy it. For one thing, it is easier to slip into my purse. It is lighter and smaller than the "fire". The podcasts I enjoy are not available with the "fire", but I could listen to them on my iPhone 5. BUT, I must say, overall, I like my Fire HD 8.9 best. If I were to purchase a tablet today (and could only have one tablet) my choice would be the new Fire HDX 7 inch. I also would consider the 16G. With cloud storage, it is possible to get along with the 16G. However, the price difference for the 16G and 32G is certainly more reasonable with the Fire than the iPad. Dollar for dollar Amazon has knocked this one out of the ball park. The price point is affordable and the tablet is great!!!! So, watch out Apple, Amazon's Fire HD series is a real competitive contender and certainly more reasonably price.

I love Apple products. We bought 4 of these as a give away to employees and they were ecstatic.
The mini is a decent iPad. I have an iPad 2 and while I like the large size, this size is nice too.

I love my new Apple iPad mini! So much better than my Android, way lighter in weight! So much more you can do on this! I would recommend these mini Apple iPads to all my friends for sure!

The item arrived quickly. Item was exactly how it was posted. At first I though the size would be too small, but not at all. Size of the item was just what I needed. Item works great and looks great also.

This was a replacement to my stolen iPad. A friend told me I should purchase the mini because it fits easily in a purse. All that is correct but I guess I'm more partial to the originally sized iPad. I don't hate it but I don't love it.

It was fine while it worked, but it keeps freezing and now I cannot even start the device anymore. Very frustrating. It never dropped and I handled it carefully. Android next time!

The mini is a wonderful device. My mother and father brought it as a gift to my son on his 6th birthday. The device fits in his little hands perfectly. At first I had reservations about him having an iPad at such a young age but I was able to find an app that allowed me to put a time limit on how long he uses the device that gives me a greater sense of control over his over all daily screen time.

The general product is fine, but the seller sold me a totally bad Ipad. This was a terrible experience with lots of time and energy and gas to the Apple store trying to get this thing going. I received it with one week left on warranty and it took me this long to get everything checked out. I returned it to Apple and THEY, not the seller, graciously sent me a new one even after my warranty had expired after several calls and visits to them.

I don't have anything to add that hasn't been said here or in past reviews of full size iPad. The mini is the same, only smaller. This is the perfect size for my needs. It's like Steve jobs said, iPads were not designed for being productive, they're for exploring, playing, reading, checking email, etc., i.e. if I'm doing a task, like writing a report, I use my laptop. (You can buy a Blue Tooth keyboard, and you'll end up with an approximation of a laptop, but I want a fuller keyboard and a bigger monitor for work, plus ipad word/writing apps still have a long way to go before they're anywhere near as good, or reliable, as software made for laptops/computers.
The Retina Display is worth the extra money if you use your ipad to read text. It's really bright and crisp.

It is an iPad. I have owened the 1st gen iPad, the iPad with Retina, the iPad MIni with Retine 16GB. Sold my first iPad MIni Retina because I didn't think I really needed it. I am stationed over seas so I was using my old iPhone 4s with wifi to iMessage family and it broke so I went ahead and ordered another iPad. I do not regret buying it a 2nd time. This iPad Mini Retina is awesome. I am 6'6" with large hands and I think the size it spot on. Great product.

The mini i purchased through Amazon had a defective screen; I went to the local Apple store and they swapped it out and I was on my way with a brand new one within 10 minutes. So great that I didn't have to send it back through Amazon and that I could deal with the problem quickly and easily through Apple. the new one works great.

I ordered this product on Amazon but cancelled the order the next day because I found it cheaper at Walmart. I have only had it for a few days but I am very impressed. I am not an Apple person, I actually prefer Samsung and droid. I was surprised how well it integrated with my other devices. Synced my google chrome bookmarks to safari, has Microsoft office, lots of cloud storage options and easy integration with iTunes.
I only give it a 4 because one, the storage is small, I downloaded a bunch of apps and I'm already half full and second, there is a minor learning curve if you are not an Apple person. Oh and the charging cord is incredibly short.
If you are a techie or an Appleite, this is a great product and must buy.

Excellent tablet which I use daily. It doesn't take place of a good laptop or tower but comes pretty close
