We enjoy using the iPad mini (1st gen) for introducing men & women 40+ to useful Apps in managing lifestyle changes, especially centered around the use of MyFitnessPal, Striiv, and Breezing.
For $270 - $295, a sufficiently quick and always charged iPad is at your finger tips.
Developing for the iPad has been enjoyable learning experience as well. We have an App on the Store!
Confusing:
Apple evidently released the Black Slate iPads awhile ago, then phased on the color for Space Grey. Therefore, when I ordered Black Slate iPads, I received packages that listed Black Slate on the external shrink wrap, then Space Grey on the Apple box and in the Apple Settings --> General --> About.

After getting my parents a ipad air, I decided to also get them a ipad mini. Apparently, ipad air beats ipad mini. It's obvious when comparing them together. We can't tolerate the screen resolution of ipad mini after ipad air :-/
But the price pays for other functionality.

Never received The pen or car charger that was suppose to be mailed with the iPad..other than than that I am happy with the iPad itself

For this item home and found that it was false touching. Meaning it ghost changes out of menus and apps. Had to return it!

apple is over hyped. i have bought iPad 2 times thinking i was missing something, I am not the iOS sucks when you cant get simply save files where you want. In droid or windows or linux I control where the file is saved and can put it on network or usb drive but its absurd what apple wants me to do to save my own excel file for use on another device. Fashion and design sells their products but they must stop trying to control the consumer, companies that try to do this always fail.

I love its display and the fact that it has enough memory space (16 GB). The resolution couldbe a bit higher than 1024 x768 but it's OK for most of my apps

I bought this for my two year old granddaughter. Kids are tough on these so I wanted to get an AppleCare protection plan in case she broke something. As soon as it was delivered, I took it to an Apple retail store to buy the program - but Apple says that the AppleCare program must be purchased within 30 days of purchase. Unfortunately - that means 30 days from when it was directly purchased from Apple. This was purchased from Apple by a third party vendor and distributed through Amazon more than 30 days before it was shipped to me - so the device was no longer eligible for the AppleCare program. I have two options - return it to Amazon and purchase another device directly from Apple (this specific model has been discontinued by Apple and is no longer available from them) or I can just give it to my grandkid, along with a really good protective case - and HOPE that my two year old doesn't break it. Wish us luck.

Freaking awsome tablet! I had an iPad 2 for almost 2 years and I thought the mini would be too small. Actually, holding the iPad 2 seems too big and clumsy. All in all a very satified customer and I don't see myself buying another tablet for several years.

This is a wonderful tablet. I use it daily for work as well as entertainment. The only issue I have is screen brightness. More variability would definitely benefit this product. If you plan to use this outdoors a lot, you may want to reconsider.

I had an iPad 2, but I didn't use it much. I loved it mainly because I could download all these wonderful syntheziers, and music applications. I would occassionally use it at a restaurant when eating dinner, or while waiting at the DMV or soemthing like that. Sometimes it came in handy at home if I didn't want to turn on my computer and watch youtube videos. But this is not an iPad 2 review, sorry. But I was not using that much because it was heavy, and bulky. I would put it in my backpack, and after awhile that would get old. So I wanted to get this smaller tablet, which is really what I wanted to begin with.
Immediately after trying it, I realised I had made a good move of selling my iPad 2. It was a joy to use, and I found myself enjoying configuring it, and downloading apps just like the old days when I would configure my old computers. I have at least tripled the amount of time using it, because it's so handy.
Now there are some slight compatibility issues with apps designed for iPad. Mainly they have to do with not being able to read the really fine print on some of the synthesizer apps. Once I figure out what those virtual knobs and buttons are for it's not a problem. Sometimes it will be difficult to tap on a really small button. Hopefully developers will quickly adopt and come up with iPad mini optimized apps, but that's not really a big deal, I just need glasses, and a stylus. I think it would be a good idea for Apple to sell a stylus with it at a discount to make up for this slight inconvenience.
The display looks nicer, because I believe it's more pixels per square inch, so scrunching all those images down makes it look like a high end 7" tablet. Also I'm glad they made it this size, that's well thought out. If it were a smaller 7" tablet it would be too difficult to use. At 7.8 inches or so it's perfect. I would not recommend everyone going out and selling your iPad 2 to get this, but if you don't have an iPad yet, and are looking for something more affordable, or more compact than an iPad 2, or iPad 3 etc, then this is a great option to have. I'm not sure how many of these have sold, but I would not be surprised if it were a hit, and a retina version came out. As far as improvements that they could make, I am mainly interested in a faster CPU, and a MicroSD slot. Also, I had some accessories like the Line 6 Mobilekeys 25 keyboard that used the old 30 pin cord. So I will have to buy an adapter. That is one thing that kind of bothers me about Apple is hidden costs like that. But I love it!

My iPad mini 2 with Retina Display shipped brand-new from James O'Neill USA LLC and it was in perfect, mint condition when I received it. The packing film that the factory wraps them in was intact, which confirmed that it was indeed new and wasn't tampered with.
I find the resolution is good and that the electronic tablet is a joy to use. Also, it's a nice size for using it just about anywhere. Not cumbersome.

This was a gift for my wife. She is definitely a NON-tech person. This iPad Mini is easy and intuitive enough. After a week with it she is still loving it! We figured out how to get it to print to our WiFi printer. Wife uses it to read books, play Words With Friends, use various apps, check email, look stuff up on the web. Have to admit, Apple does make an awesome product.

How can I make a meaningful comment on a product that's been out for so long and so widely used. It's especially great for travel and does everything I need it to do. The photos are crisp and the colors are great. I still use my laptop when I need to type more than a minimal comment.

This product met my expectation. The new iPad mini with Retina Display is another addition to my Apple line of product I use. The mini size is what exactly what I wanted. Display is good with excellent performance. There are many great apps, too, and I can use the same apps on my iPhone. Many apps incorporate iCloud with which data can be sync'd between iPad Mini and iPhone. This works great for me, too.

It's basically a large iPhone without the phone. But this is nice because it is small enough to fit on your lap.

I bought this for use outside USA. It was working fine for 4 months and now I see a blue strip on the screen. Since this product doesn't have international warranty I am helpless.

Love it! I was thinking about a Kindle but got this instead and don't regret a minute of it! It's fast and does everything I need. We do not download much (a few games for the kids, a book or two for myself) so the 16gb was good enough. The display is clear as can be too. I'm not sure why I waited so long to buy this!

This iPad is very easy to use and never crashed and it is user friendly but what I don't like is when I plug it to my pc to put my mp3 or videos, and I have no attention to put iTune in my iPad so I gave it to my son to play games on it. I will never buy Apple product anymore.

Returned item as it was refurbished and the charger it came with did not charge an iPad. I didn't find where that was clear when I ordered.
