This is my first tablet purchase and I thought I could minimize using a laptop. I travel a lot so I'll be using mostly for watching movies while traveling on a plane & surfing the web on the ground.First - the 4:3 display format is lousy for watching videos - with a 16:9 movie you lose 1/3 of your screen and a 2.35:1 movie you lose 1/2 of your screen to the black bars (doesn't make a difference how good your display is, if half is black). The 4:3 display format is a huge disadvantage compared to the Andoid tablets. My wife has an iPad 2 and for watching movies/videos I don't notice a quality difference between the two iPad's. So if you mostly watch movies save your money and don't bother with this tablet.Second - the lack of a microSD slot is inexcusable. The only way to interface with this device is with a computer & iTunes (it's Apples way or it's the wrong way - I guess they think their customers is too stupid to use this device without iTunes). So if you're like me and travel a lot you have to carry your laptop loaded with iTunes so you can add your media - very frustrating. Yes, I know you can buy a camera connection kit (another $30) and if you set it up correctly (8 character file names in a folder named DCIM) you can transfer your movies and photos (no music or anything else). But the SD Card must be FAT32 formatted which means a 4 gb file size limit - no good if you have lots of HD videos. With an android table, just take an extra microSD card (FAT32 or NTFS) loaded with your content and you're ready to go - no need for a laptop - couldn't be any easier.The new display is much better for surfing the web or reading (reason for giving it 2 stars), but others will follow.I'll be buying the Asus Infinity when ever (if ever) it gets release and then sell my iPad.

Love the iPad. Anti-glare screen protectors are not the best ones for this device. Once the clear ones arrive, I will be able to enjoy the retina display fully.

I am having a hard time adapting to Apple operating system. At 81 change comes slow, but I will make it in time. I really like sharpness or readability of screen. This is why I made purchase.

This was a gift for my mother's Birthday. Sheis not very " tech savy " and so far has been able to do what she wants with it. Hopefully she will take the time figure out some the other features its capable of !

Another outstandingly designed and constructed product from the folks known for their attention to design and construction. I cannot add anything new to the reviews for this device. The screen is sharp, the design is solid and it works.

Bought for my wife for Christmas. Works great, her nose is buried in it all the time. Peace and quite finally, guys get this for your wife/girlfriend. It will shut her up and get her out of your hair, for a little while anyways. I'm just funning ladies. It's an Apple product, it works great, does what its supposed to. If you don't know what an Ipad is or does by now you need to read more than an Amazon review about it. My only gripe is that Apple, unbeknownst to me (and I thought I kept on top of tech stuff) Apple upgraded the processor in the Ipad 3 and started calling it the Ipad 4. I told someone at work I bought the wife an Ipad and was asked if it was the 3 or 4. I coudn't beleive Apple had the balls to do that with out a major release.

this is an awesome tablet! i'm spoiled by it. it is so compact but sturdy without being bulky. it loads really fast. i have watched my netflix movies on it and the picture quality is beautiful. it's so crisp. the lightning fast charge cable works great when i use the adapter. however, when i plug it up to my dell laptop, it reads "not charging" but it's actually charging very slowly. not sure if this is a common problem with the ipad or if it's just mine. other than that, no problems so far! it takes much better pics than the previous version of ipad thanks to the retina display. i just love it! i'm going to get case for it so that i can travel with it. fortunately, it can fit in my purse and i won't have to lug my heavy laptop anymore in my backpack or satchel...phew so much easier on my back! i recommend this to students or anyone that is looking for a tablet with great quality and ease of use

I recently purchased the newest "4th" gen iPad and it has literally changed my life. I had no idea just how much I would be using it. It's like having a smart phone for the for the first time all over again. I absolutely love it and am now considering one for my wife too.***description still says "newest version." However this is the 3rd gen iPad, and there is and has been a 4th gen out for several months. That is why this one is cheaper than the other one also advertised as the "newest model" or "newest version," so beware.***

This is my first iPad. I'm purchasing it for my 66th birthday!! Who else is going to do that but me!! I'm a gadget person and love technology. When I purchased my iMac (27") desktop - "wow" is all I can say. It is beautiful. I have the iPhone 4S and I love Siri so I know I will enjoy her on my iPad as well. The processor for my ipad will be like lightning and I look forward to using the iPad in a more leisurely way, I've waited to get the newer model for the Retina Display. Apple technology is great!! My iPad is on the way Once I use it, I provide more feedback later. Until then, I'm anxiously awaiting my new toy!Carol

The iPad is wonderful; it's better than I expected. However, the battery life is horrible. It takes 6 to 8 hours to fully charge. Plus, the iPad will not charge while in use. Apple definitely needs an update for this!

Best decision I ever made was to purchase this iPad. I got it within one week in impeccable condition. The technology of this iPad and I guess with all apple products is astonishing. This iPad is 100 percent better than those regular tablets by far.

I absolutely love my new iPad third generation. I will sum all of the good into a nutshell and say that the iPad is everything Apple advertised it to be, and then some. The Retina is awesome, the camera is great, 4G LTE is quick, and gaming is brilliant. With the addition of Siri in iOS 6, this device is a good internal leap from the iPad 2.But here are my couple of flaws. The first is that the battery takes about 6 or 7 hours to charge. Basically you have to just charge it at night, then get 10 hours of use for the day, charge it at night..... Not too bad. My next critique is that the back heats up a bit. Its not painful or anything, but it can be a bit irritating. I would reccomend a case to solve this. Another issue us that the microphone is apparently in the dock connector. So if you want to make a facetime call while charging, or your hand is over the port while filming, the sound is muffled. My final problem is that the facetime camera is pretty awful. I guess it's usable, but even in great light it looks pretty grainy.As a whole I would reccomend the new iPad to everyone and anyone. While to the novice, it may appear the same as the iPad 2, it is surely a good, well rounded, fundamental update.

The add did not say nothing included, but nothing was. I had to buy everything seprate which made it as much as a new one. The device was in perfect condition however and did arrive on time.

I'm a big Apple product fan for many years...from my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad2, iPhone4s & iPad nano.The iPad is my new best friend. As an artist, the iPad is really helpful on a lot of things for me. I use an intuos Bamboo stylus with ArtStudio App for some of my initial sketch before importing it to Photoshop. But sometimes, I really want to just do detailed sketches on my iPad, but the Bamboo's thick rounded tip is really hard to go to all the details.I was really hopeful Apple will give us the Stylus features on their 4th Gen...but NOPE! Because of this, i will be forced to buy a Microsoft SURFACE PRO.I guess, I'm slowly going back to Microsoft.

I was looking around like crazy trying to figure out what tablet to buy after selling my old laptop. Even though I have an iPhone 4S i never thought an iPad can be my everything machine for school, and everyday use. I tried two different windows 8 tablets mainly because it had Microsoft office. I am very "techy". Both windows tablets failed me with the slow laggy speed and just to heavy and inconvenient. I was selling iPads and decided to test out the one that did not sell yet, instantly I already knew I was going to sell my windows 8 tablet. The iPads speed is remarkable, HD retina display is amazing. I downloaded ipages and numbers so I can use and edit word and excel documents. I could not be more happier with my iPad. I am currently typing this review using it. So far nothing beats it!!

love the speed, resolution, feeling when holding, the new connector.I was expecting the device to get uncomfortably hot (as read in some reviews) but it stays really cool with my current usage (browsing, email, youtube, reading).battery life is also exceptional.want the best tablet of the moment? this is it!

At this point I have to rate this product a 1 because after TEN HOURS of charging it wont work. Not with the "on/home" button trick, nada. All I ever got on the screen was the low battery symbol when I first plugged it in and now nada. Very disappointed and now have to go through the ordeal of returning it when I really do not have the time as this was purchased using a grant and I have less than a month to show success with students using it or it comes out of my pocket. Joy.

My mom broke her right hand and has been un-able to type. We got her the ipad as an alternative. It was better than an alternative and all of the apps and communication it has provided has been well worth the price. I am so glad to see mom using this so well. Easy to navigate and very entertaining!

I work with computers each day at work and just wanted something for emails at home. This is perfect! I also bought the Otter Box for protection. I have had the iPad for about six months and am very happy with it.
