This device is well worth the money.
Instructions were easy to follow.
Recorder is sound sensitive enough to record our band jams.
Loved being able to share recordings with band members.

Well, then I would suggest buying this little device. I bought it to sample natural world sounds (for in music) and that it does very well. Unless you are expecting the same quality as equipment priced way above this price range, you cannot go wrong. Delivery was faster than lightning and it was packed for survival. (I also bought the Accessory Pack, which comes with, for me, the needed USB cable, windscreen and tripod, which you may also be needing. The device does not come with any of these.)

I bought this recorder for sessions with a couple of acoustic instruments - guitar, harmonica, banjo. Clearly, it's designed for blow-your-brains-out rock music. Even with gain turned to max, normal acoustic playing is barely registered and is totally inaudible in play-back mode. The "guitar tuner" is worthless unless you may be using a highly-amped electric - an acoustic guitar doesn't even register - even at a few inches from the unit.
Unless you have a heavy-metal rock band fully amped to knock walls down, I wouldn't suggest buying this recorder.

I use this for taking minutes of meetings I need a written record of and it is perfect in that setting. Have not used for audio quality critical applications so can't comment on that but for replacing my old portable stereo cassette recorder this machine is great. Only downside having options burried in menus but at least the screen has a backlight. Glad I got the accessory kit too.

When this powerful little recorder came in the mail, we were blown away by the construction and functionality of it. Perfect size for my daughter's purse and yet big and sturdy enough to know that it will last for her. Love the features and workability!

Great product, Easier to use than the H2, battery life is 20 Hrs compared to about 4-6 hrs.
The built in speaker is better than nothing but I would like to be able to use it as a monitor speaker with line in function.

This unit is a great recorder, with the ability to customize sound recording in many ways. The challenge is the fact that the battery compartment cover is plastic with a small tab to keep it shut. Mine broke within 6 battery changes. Its way too cheaply made for a $200 microphone, and I would have gladly paid an extra $10 for a cover design that actually worked.
And the cover is the entire front of the microphone.
too bad that such a great piece of technology is wrapped in such a cheap package. Look somewhere else for a digital recorder.

Great bang for your buck. I can't imagine buying the recorder without also taking this accessory pack to go along with it. Good quality materials, too.

What can I say , its an accessory pack and all is well.
The remote could use a longer cable, and the hard case should have room for extra batteries and memory card storage.

Nice unit,shipping was very fast!. I can not get the sound loude enough to hear on play back. May be it's me,still working on that. It seems to be quality stuff.
If i get the sound problem solved i will give it a 40.

RECEIVED THE ZOOM H2N. USED IT TO RECORD A SEMINAR, WHICH I ALSO VIDEO RECORDED ON MY CANON EOS. THE H2N PRODUCES AN INTERMITTENT HUM IN THE RECORDING. I AM STILL TESTING THE UNIT TO DETERMINE, WHETHER ITS SOMETHING I DID OR AN INHERENT FLAW IN THE UNIT. IF ANYONE HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR OCCURRENCE, THEN YOUR FEEDBACK IS WELCOME.

I've had a Zoom H2 for about 4 years and found that it has done all that we needed. It is used for my wife's vocal and instrumental practices and for recording some performances. It has also been used to record music for a "limited distribution" CD. Good quality and fairly easy to use.
After hundreds of hours of use and abuse, and some recent minor problems, I decided to try the new H2n. It is much easier to use, and the first recordings are fine.
Will follow up after more use.

Bought this so I could record while driving and to record podcasts. Works great, lightweight, very protable and the quality is great. Strongly recommend it if you are looking for quality, portable recording.

bought at sweetwater.arrived fast.it just seems to toy like for this price.its all plastic and no heft to it.on plus side all features worked great.just can't get over build quality.also dial on top was deal breaker.hard to turn.sent back and will try tascam dr40

Komplettpaket zur Aufnahme auch höherwertiger Samples . Geräuschen oder Interviews. Das Zubehör ist etwas klapprig, funktioniert aber, ist den Preis allein aufgrund der Tasche (die ruhig auch etwas Luft für das Zubehör haben dürfte), die Fernbedienung und das Netzteil wert. Das Gerät selbst macht prima Aufnahmen (bis 24Bit/96 Khz), ist dabei etwas griffempfindlich, aber das Problem haben alle Handy-Recorder. Das erste Gerät war leider defekt (das Setup-Rad verklemmte sich immer, so das eine vernünftige Bedienung nicht möglich war), ist aber nach Rücksendung innerhalb von 3 Tagen ohne Diskussion ausgetauscht worden (Vielen Dank nochmal, allein für die Abwicklung von Keepdrum 5 Sterne). Der Kopfhörer tuts halt, zuhause hat man was besseres, aber als Dreingabe für lau ist der schon OK, zuman man bei Field-Aufnahmen oder im Probenraum sowieso nicht seinen High-End- KH dabei haben sollte :).
Die Surround-Aufnahmen liegen als doppelte Stereo-Spuren vor und sind mit allen gängigen Programmen zu bearbeiten, bei mir mit Audacity und Magix Music Studio. Die beiliegende Software Wavelab 8 LE ist gleich in die Tonne gewandert, hat zuviele Einschränkungen und soll nur zum Kauf der teuren Vollversionen verleiten (z.B. Essentials , 3 Audiospuren für 100 Euro?).
Ich benutze den Zoom hauptsächlich zum Aufnehmen von Athmos und Sounds zum späteren Vertonen von Videos, dafür ist er ideal, klein , handlich und immer dabei. Aufnahmezeit mit 2 Akkus Sanyo Eneloop ca. 16 Stunden, 2 GB Speicherkarte liegt bei, bis 32 GB kann installiert werden.

Seit 2 Jahren im Einsatz, und ich bin einfach begeistert! Hauptsächlich nehme ich Chor-Konzerte auf, und die Aufnahmen klingen wie professionell aufgenommenen Stücke! Zwar es ist eine Nachbearbeitung notwendig (Equalizer), aber das gehört sich halt dazu. Den mitgelieferte Software ist dafür perfekt geeignet, um schnell ein gutes Ergebnis zu bekommen.
Allerdings, das einzige was mich enttäuscht hat, ist dass es leisere Geräusche nur in Studio sich aufnehmen lassen. Habe mal versucht, Vogel-zwitschern aufzunehmen, dafür musste ich die Empfindlichkeit hochdrehen, was als Ergebnis hatte, dass man ein rauschen bekommt hat, und die in 2 km Entfernung vorbeifahrende Autos gehört hat (obwohl ich in einen Wald neben einen Fluss stand). Und wenn man ihn in die Hand hält und damit aufnimmt, reicht es ein kleines Fingerbewegung und schon gibt es einen hässlichen Krach in der Aufnahme.
Für dynamisches Außenarbeit also mit Einschränkungen verwendbar, für Aufnahme, bei denen die Soundquelle genug stark ist, und das Mikro statisch steht, ein wahres Glückstreffer!

Habe das Gerät gekauft um damit unseren Chor aufzunehmen. Hatte erst Bedenken wegen der Größe. Nach dem ersten Versuch muss ich jedoch sagen bin ich sehr zufrieden. Die Klangqualität ist absolut ausreichend für Choraufnahmen. Das Gerät nimmt auch leiseste Geräusche glasklar auf. Nur wenn sehr unterschiedliche Lautstärken aufgenommen werden sollen (z.B. Chor singt und klatscht) muss die Eingangslautstärke manuell geregelt werden. Sonst wird es in den meisten Fällen die AutoGain funktion tun, denke ich. Natürlich gibt es immer bessere Systeme als dieses. Für den Preis bin ich jedoch vollkommen überzeugt von dem Produkt!
In Verbindung mit einer Videokamera und einen geeigneten Schnittporogramm lassen sich damit sogar Videos mit Surround Sound erstellen.

Das Gerät macht genau das, was ich von Ihm erwartet habe... es nimmt in einstellbarer Qualität auf eine SD Karte auf und hat recht viele Mikrofon Einstellmöglichkeiten. Surround ist dann auf 2 files aufgeteilt. Aufnahmen in hoher Qualität sind unglaublich über Kopfhörer anzuhören... Wenn man z.B. eine Münze auf dem Tisch dreht... oder alleine nur Seiten eines Buches umblättert... Gespräche sind auch Klasse, aber nicht mein Fokus. Ich bin gespannt wie sich ein Lagerfeuer aufnehmen läßt, oder ein Stadionbesuch, Das Rauschen der Wellen...ein Bachgeplätscher... usw...
Die Windhutze ist "dichter" als erwartet, innen ist noch mal Stoff, aber für leichten Wind wirds wohl gehen, dämpft aber sicherlich auch.
insgesamt trotz intensiver Suche und dem Bonus Fellwindschutz, der ja sonst rund 25€ ausmacht, finde ich 150€ immer noch ne Menge Geld...
